With summer coming to a close, Celebrity Baby Scoop asked some of our favorite celebrity moms about their summertime adventures and how they are preparing for the back to school rush.

From Samantha Harris‘ fun-filled summer with her daughters, to Brooke Anderson‘s adjustment to having a third child, to Courtney and Mario Lopez‘s daughter starting a new school, continue reading about some fun family getaways and must-have back to school items such as Mabel’s Labels.

  • Sherri Saum:

The Fosters actress Sherri Saum – who raises 2-year-old twin sons John and Michael with husband Kamar de los Reyes – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

SS: “This summer has been one of my favorites to date! The boys are getting to a really fun age. We play like crazy, chase each other and wear each other out.

We went to Ohio to visit family, but mostly we stayed in and around L.A., enjoying museums and science centers and swimming.”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

SS: “The boys are only a little over 2-years-old. But, they are beginning a play-school type of program. It will be three days a week, just half days. My one son is fiercely independent and melts right into any given social environment, but the other is a bit more cautious and wants me to stay close by. It’s an adjustment, but important, I think.”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

SS: “To prepare for back to school, we have been labeling the boys school things with the wonderful Mabel’s Labels so we keep everything organized. And, Kamar and I have been diligent about staying healthy and strong with our USANA favorite products for all the back-and-forth to school and germs that the kids will inevitably bring home.”

  • Brooke Anderson:

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Brooke Anderson – who raises daughters Kate, 7, Lily, 2, and 3-month-old son James with husband Jim Walker – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

BA: “We have had an incredible summer settling in as a family-of-five with our newest addition, sweet baby James Arthur, who was born late April. He had his first plane trip at 7-weeks-old (cross country flight to attend a wedding). He nursed and slept the entire time, so it was a breeze. Whew!

Other than that, we’ve stayed pretty local and just taken time to bond as a family with our little one. His older sisters are obsessed with baby bro. He’ll certainly grow up with a lot of mommies. God bless him!”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

BA: “Kate will be in first grade and Lily George will be in preschool. They talk about school like it’s Disney World! They’re so excited, and we got new backpacks and sneakers and are ready to go.

They are into swimming and mermaids (Kate actually likes to swim with a mermaid tail on), and singing at the top of their lungs (usually while baby is napping of course).”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

BA: “I’m trying to get everyone on a good schedule so the first day won’t be such a shock. I’m sure it will be rocky for a little while — the girls have been sleeping in for me.

I love the Ooka Island reading program, and that has helped with Kate’s reading this summer. Now she can actually read what I write on her little notes I leave in her lunch box (Little Jots notes are super cute for this). I try to make their lunches the night before so I’m not dealing with that on chaotic school mornings.

I also obsessively label everything with the adorable Mabel’s Labels. It helps keep track of things that little ones may leave behind.

Something else I’m doing is encouraging the girls to talk to me about not only what they’re excited about, but what they’re concerned about as well. I always want to keep the lines of communication open and make sure they know they can talk to me about anything.

One more thing I need to do…download pics from my phone so I have room to document that very special first day.”

  • Samantha Harris:

Former Dancing with the Stars host Samantha Harris – who raises daughters Josselyn, 8, and Hillary, 5, with husband Michael Hess – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

SH: “Summer always goes too fast, but it’s been full of fun between shoots for Entertainment Tonight. One of my favorite things of summer is to take the girls on what I call “Mommy Adventures.” We went to the beach and then the Santa Monica Pier for some roller coaster riding and ice cream. The Getty Museum is always a hit, as we picnic on the sprawling lawn, then play tag and roll down the hill before hitting up the children’s area of the museum and a few exhibits. One of the best parts is the tram ride up the “mountain.” We also hit up the La Brea Tar Pits then headed next door to LACMA. There was a stop or two at a dog rescue spot.

A whole day of “Camp Hess,” at our house, where I hosted 14 girls for fun activities like wheelbarrow races, water ballon tossing and some art projects before hunkering down in our PJs for a movie night. My hubby and I took them to a family fun park with bumper boats, go-karts, laser tag and an arcade. We even hit up 4 different kids’ movie premieres or screenings!

Oh, and yes, Michael and I even fit in some special adult time on a getaway to Vail, where I had a speaking engagement about being your own health advocate and achieving “Your Healthiest Healthy” — all part of my GottaMakeLemonade.com (we are always accepting new personal stories — so I hope more people will send them in soon). We didn’t depart Vail before hiking, biking and even doing some great zip-lining. What a blast.”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

SH: “What a big year this is, because Hilly is heading into kindergarten. She is beyond ready and had a terrific time at kinder camp getting to know her new classmates. Hilly already has her eyes on the 2028 Olympics. She is a gymnast and has incredible fearlessness and drive.

Josselyn, I can’t believe it, will be in 3rd grade. Jossie has been following her heart to Broadway and we have had a wonderful time together with our season tickets to the Pantages Theater in LA, which houses all of the big touring shows. Her favorite thing is to head to the stagedoor after each show to meet the actors and get her Playbill signed. She also takes part in a musical production each fall and spring. She can’t wait for the fall show – Grease.”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

SH: “For starters, my mom took them school shopping and they loved every minute. I will likely do the same. It always gets them amped up for the beginning of the school year when they have some new, fun clothes to wear. I don’t go crazy — have found lots at Target in the past (We’ll see how long I can get away with that).

As we get backpacks and school jackets ready, I always have a good stash of Mabel’s Labels on hand. Every water bottle, lunchbox and bentobox needs to get labeled.”

  • Courtney Lopez:

Actress-producer Courtney Lopez and husband, Saved by the Bell alum Mario Lopez, are proud parents to daughter Gia, nearly 6, and son Dominic, nearly 3. Courtney opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

CL: “This summer has been so much fun! Mario and I took the kids on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. None of us had ever been on a cruise before, so this was quite an amazing experience for us all.”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

CL: “Gia will be turning 6 in September and is starting 1st grade at a brand new school. We cannot believe it — I’ve been crying everyday! Dominic will be turning 3 in September and is still attending a Montessori school. He absolutely loves it.”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

CL: “Gia has been having fun preparing for her new school. She just picked out a new book bag from Pottery Barn Kids and ordered her new Mabel’s Labels. Gia loves to help me label everything, and now that she has to wear a uniform we have a lot to label.”

  • Garcelle Beauvais:

Franklin & Bash star Garcelle Beauvais – who raises 8-year-old twin sons Jax and Jaid with ex-husband Mike Nilon – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

GB: “The boys and I had a great summer — they did sports camp, Jaid did cooking camp at Sur La Table, and they took Minecraft camp.

My boys went to a dude ranch with their dad and I rented an Airbnb house in Malibu right on the beach for a week. It was just amazing – Jax kept saying, ‘I feel like were away.’ We found a lot of sand crabs.”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

GB: “The time is going by so fast – the boys are going into 3rd grade. They’re still into Pokémon, and now, of course, Pokémon Go which I refuse to indulge in but they play with their dad. As well, we just got a rescue puppy named Bear.”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

GB: “My boys are excited to go back to school because they get to see all their friends. And, I do believe kids like the routine of school because they know what’s going to happen.

Mabel’s Labels always help with getting their things labeled for school. School shopping is always fun — we go to the fun places like Target, The Children’s Place, and Zara Kids.

Also, we talk about the exciting things like finding out who the new teacher is and who’s going to be in their class. We try to keep it positive so that they’re excited.”

  • Molly Mesnick:

The Bachelor couple Jason Mesnick and Molly Mesnick are proud parents to 3-year-old daughter Riley. As well, Jason shares 11-year-old son Ty with his ex-wife. Molly opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

MM: “We have had the busiest summer with camps, weddings, and simply enjoying the sunshine – but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We took one family trip to New York, but Seattle summers are amazing so we never like to leave this time of year. Now that we are in our new house, the best part of summer has, honestly, been just sitting in the driveway while the kiddos play. Ty is all into basketball and Riley loves riding around on her Barbie power wheels.”

CBS: What grades are your kids entering? Are they excited? What are they into these days?

MM: “Ty is 11 and will be entering the 6th grade – middle school! Ty is still all about sports. He has been playing basketball all summer long, but he has also gotten into golf which is fun because Jason and I both play, so it’s a fun activity for the three of us.

Riley is 3 and will continue in preschool. She is all girl! So she’s into anything that has to do with dresses, makeup, jewelry, purses and more. Ty and Riley could not be more different, but they get along so well.”

CBS: How have you been preparing for back to school? What are some of your best tips and products for making the transition as smooth as possible?

MM: “For back to school, we always get the kids geared up with new backpacks and lunch boxes. Our Mabel’s Labels always come in handy and they are the first thing I outfit their new swag with. Being off of school for the summer, I just have to get myself back in that school year routine: packing lunches, setting out clothes, and packing up their bags the night before. Makes mornings much easier!”

  • DeAnna Pappas Stagliano:

The Bachelorette alum DeAnna Pappas Stagliano – who raises daughter Addison, 2, and 5-month-old son Austin with husband Stephen Stagliano – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their summer activities and her must-have back to school items.

CBS: Did you have a good summer with your family? Did you go on any trips? What were some of the highlights?

DPS: “We had a great summer! This summer was all about being a family-of-four and bonding together, as well as figuring out how a family-of-four works.

Stephen and I took a couple small trips to have time alone together. One being most recently to Las Vegas for the weekend to relax and film an episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. We played for charity and it was the most awesome time. Next up, we’re headed to New York City as a family.

We are just so thankful that we are able to get time away as a couple. It’s so important for any marriage. We are grateful to our generous family that is always so willing to watch our babies for us.”

CBS: What are your kids into these days?

DPS: “Addison is loving My Little Pony. A friend of ours gave her all their old ponies and she is obsessed. She is changing so much and surprising us every day with how smart she has become. She’s potty trained now which is an exciting stage also. She loves to sing and her favorite song is Stay Strong by my brother in law, Michael. She calls it the Ika Song. It’s the sweetest!”

CBS: What are some of your favorite tips and products for all the busy moms out there?

DPS: “We are always running late around here. Not sure if it’s just the story of my life, or because an infant and a toddler are tough at times for any human being. But I always start every morning with USANA’s MySmartShake. Addison is not a big breakfast eater, so I’m glad she enjoys to have a little bit of my shake. Then I know she’s getting calories, fiber and the protein that she needs to tackle her very busy, toddler day. So for us, we do what works. I’m not saying I’m always right, but it’s right for my family.”
