Supermodel Karolína Kurková covers the latest issue of The Edit and opens up about family life with husband Archie Drury and their two sons: Tobin, 6, and Noah, 3 months.

On finding time to workout: “It’s hard to stay in shape when you have kids. You work, you look after them and you’re exhausted, but to go to the gym you have to have energy. But if my body feels soft and weak, I mentally start to feel the same. When I have a good workout and get those endorphins out, it makes a huge difference.”

On motherhood: “I’m a modern mom, breastfeeding and working, being professional but giving my all to my baby. This is my fifth photo shoot since having my son [Noah] and he’s been on every one. I couldn’t do it if he wasn’t able to come with me – I need him nearby so I’m able to focus on work and not be worrying if he’s ok. I really look up to women who do it all and do it well. They’re my heroes.”

On her online #BreastfeedingSelfie campaign: “Breastfeeding is beautiful and special but it’s hard and it can be painful. When I posted a picture of me feeding my baby, I didn’t plan to start a conversation; I wanted to celebrate the women who do it too. And when we’re looking at pictures and music videos that are much more vulgar, how can we have a problem with something so sweet and precious? I’m all about empowering women, because whether you’re working or if you’re at home taking care of your kids, it’s not easy being a woman.”

On having a second child: “Having a second baby is really pushing me. I can’t believe I’m already working; with my first, I took it much more slowly. My kids inspire me to go out and create, to realize that this is not the time to be shy. They’re also teaching me that it’s ok to fail, as long as you do the best you can.”
