53rd New York Film Festival - 'Steve Jobs' Premiere

Although Kate Winslet stars in the upcoming film Steve Jobs, don’t expect her three kids – daughter Mia, 14, and sons Joe, 11, and Bear, 22 months – to have an addition to Apple products.

“It’s a little scary, I think,” the Academy Award-winning actress, 40, tells E! News. “We become addicted.”

Not that she’s opposed to her kids becoming familiar with devices.

“At the end of the day, it is a part of how we live,” Winslet said. “Certainly in terms of education, I think there is so much done on computers these days…I’ve had to sort of relent and accept that. Actually my children’s knowledge of computers because of IT classes is much more sophisticated then mine. But do mine have devices? No, they don’t.”

She added: “I think we have to always be a little careful because they still have to live a life and they still have to climb trees and break their knees and get muddy. That’s important.”

In the Steve Jobs biopic which hits theaters Oct. 9, Winslet plays Joanna Hoffman, who worked closely with Jobs during Apple’s early years.
