Katy Perry is following in the footsteps of fellow musicians Jessica Simpson, Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez and launching her very own line of shoes. She introduced the line at the Fashion Footwear Association of New York earlier this month. The 31-year-old singer, who is no stranger to eclectic fashion, promises a collection that brings her off-the-wall aesthetic to your tootsies. Judging from the sketches and the fact that she mixing lucite, vinyl and wild embellishments in floral and animal prints in the footwear, you can pretty much guarantee you won’t be wearing these to the office.

Katy is pairing with Global Brands Group to launch the reasonably-priced collection (if you consider $59 – $299 reasonable), creatively called Katy Perry Footwear. The manufacturer has previously collaborated with Jennifer Lopez, Sean John and David Beckham. The shoes will hit shelves in Spring of next year, as Katy revealed in a tweet posted on Monday.

The “Rise” singer, who has dabbled in perfume and cosmetics in the past, hinted to Women’s Wear Daily that this collection could be the start of some sort of fashion empire:

“It’s been a creative goal of mine to be a real contributor in the affordable fashion space,” said Perry. “Launching a footwear collection felt like a natural first step for me. After years of investigating and researching partnerships to find the right fit for the debut of my line, I found that Global Brands most resonated with my artistic ideas. They understand my vision, my eye for detail, and have the international reach and resources to bring my canvas of ideas to life.”

Some sketches from the new collection, which also includes sandals and sneakers, have been posted online and they certainly scream Katy Perry. The race car-inspired shoe I could only see wearing at a Halloween party and the jury’s out on the white shoe with the multi-colored star accents – more so because with all of those stars, they look like mini torture chambers for your feet or, as I like to call them, “sitting down shoes.” I do have to admit that I kind of like the blue fringed heel mule. I’m a sucker for that cobalt blue shade. If she doesn’t do a (left) shark shoe, I will be slightly disappointed.
