Liv Tyler had daughter Lula Rose five weeks ago, with her fiance, British sports agent Dave Gardner. They also have son Sailor together, 17 months. Liv has son Milo, 11, from her marriage to Royston Langdon, and Dave also has a son, Grey, 9, from a previous marriage. Liv’s Instagram is full of beautiful, intimate-looking family moments. It’s really a joy to look through and as cheesy as it may sound you can see the love between Liv and Dave and their children. For instance Liv posted a beautiful photo where she’s nursing Lulu (that’s below). It just looks like a sweet, everyday photo of a mom with her baby.

For some reason Liv did an interview with People Magazine, I think it’s to promote her capsule collection with British fashion brand Belstaff. They seem to have asked her to give advice to new moms working on their post-baby bodies, that’s a favorite question for celebrity moms, and her advice was very sensible.

“Just be kind to yourself,” the Empire Records actress tells PEOPLE of her advice to other new moms feeling the pressure, adding, “Everyone is different. Everyone’s body is different, everyone’s birth experience is different.”

“Some people’s body type is that they totally look normal right after [birth], and [for] others, it takes many months,” she continues. “But I think it’s best to focus on your health and the health of your baby and bonding.”

When it comes to getting dressed in the morning, the actress-turned-fashion designer recommends “lot of pajamas!” adding that her favorites are “beautiful cotton or silk pajamas — loose things where you can’t see my belly too much because it’s that transitional period [where] I don’t think people can tell if you’re pregnant or you’re just chubby.”

Tyler struggles to find time for herself, just like any new mom.

“It’s the basic things like being able to go take a long bath and do a face mask or brush your teeth!

“In the early days, it’s so tricky to balance your time between taking care of your child and taking care of yourself so if you can have a little bit of help, it’s so nice,” she says.

And, says the native New Yorker, a little kindness toward fellow moms and dads — as well as yourself — goes a long way.

“I think it’s important for women to be supportive of each other,” she shares.

Liv says she wants to have time to take a long bath, and when she says long bath she means well over an hour. I’m not even kidding. In an interview this April, Liv said she took two hour baths every night while watching movies. Her bathroom is probably amazing too. Plus she gushed about all the people who help her, like a manicurist who will come over to her house at night and chat while she does her nails, and her assistant. She has a trainer too and she did light workouts during her pregnancy, but she didn’t even mention that here. I like how she’s not judgy about other moms’ being able to work out and slim down after having a baby. She’s a kind person who comes across as empathic, so it’s not surprising to hear her say that we’ll all different and should just do what we can. I wish more celebrities were like Liv.

Sunday morning snuggles with my baby girl. So grateful for this precious gift.
