Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander have arrived in Venice to promote The Light Between Oceans, the film where they fell in love, on and off-screen. After more than a year and half of acting somewhat squirrelly about their relationship, they are sort of being forced to pose together to promote the film. To be fair, they don’t seem like they’re being “forced” – they both seem happy enough to pose together upon their arrival, just ahead of the photocall. The other dude in these photos is writer-director Derek Cianfrance. Alicia’s tie-dyed dress is by Prabal Gurung!

Fassbender and Vikander have been doing interviews ahead of the big Venice premiere tonight too. Entertainment Weekly has gotten a lot of exclusives, like this interview where they talked about how they don’t like to talk about how they’re together but they’ll talk about how they got together because of the movie, where they got together. EW also did this piece where Fassbender and Vikander talk separately about the other’s work. Fassbender talks about how Vikander makes unconventional choices for an actor. Hm…[opinion redacted].
Even though I loathed the source material (the book is awful), it seems like the film is getting decent reviews. Deadline called it an “engrossing drama” with “superb performances.”
