Here are some photos of Prince Harry during his tour of South Africa – I covered some other photos yesterday. Harry’s tour has been massively successful so far, I think. He hasn’t made any gaffes and he’s gotten to hang around kids and do a lot of appearances for charities, youth centers, community projects, organizations and groups close to his heart. And yes, I chose a few photos where Harry looks “naughty.” He just has that look sometimes – like he’ll always be the naughty bad boy with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar. Harry knows that about himself too. While at a Cape Town youth center yesterday, Harry told some of the troubled youths that he too wanted to be a “bad boy” at school.

Harry has always had a reputation for—as many a younger sibling does—going about things his own way, let’s say. While his days of frequent partying may have now given way to a (seemingly) more stayed existence, the 31-year-old still manages to “rebel” (by royal standards) in ways brother William cannot, by growing a beard or finding himself ensconced in all kinds of romantic travails.

Harry reflected a bit on his relative position to William in South Africa on Monday, discussing his wild-child past. Meeting with a group of children at a youth center, he explained: “I didn’t enjoy school at all. I would like to have come to a place like this. When I was at school, I wanted to be the bad boy.”

(Amusingly, the boys in attendance had no idea who their famous visitor was. When a professor involved in running the center asked them if they knew who Harry was, they responded with “blank faces,” to which Harry joked, “That’s the right answer!”)

Harry reportedly listened to stories from members of the group, and also, while discussing alternatives to gang culture, managed to touch on how he sees himself in comparison to William.

“If you’ve got an older brother that’s not into gangs, that’s a huge positive,” he told the group. “Older brothers are supposedly the cool ones. I’m a younger brother but I’m much cooler than my older brother.” When told by the professor that William would not be notified of this comment, Harry just laughed, remarking, “He knows it!”

Um, yes. Harry IS the cooler brother. And William knows it. And William will never stop throwing Harry under the bus, mark my words. A decade ago, I’m not sure if any of us would predicted how everything panned out with William and Harry. That William would be so sulky, petty and low-energy and Harry would be the “bad boy” with the heart of gold. Sigh… I wonder how William will get back at Harry for this swipe?
