Around Christmas and the New Year, there was a lot of speculation about Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift. Rumors had them either near a breakup or near an engagement. Some of us (me!) even theorized that Swifty would debut an engagement ring at the Grammys. But then Kanye West’s tantrums stole Swifty’s thunder, and the story became “how did Taylor react to Kanye?” rather than “Swifty might be engaged!” It didn’t help that Calvin Harris did not come to the Grammys with Swifty, although he did party with her afterwards.

So, it’s interesting to note that Taylor and Calvin have been together for a full year. And despite what the tabloids say, the relationship has been refreshingly free of drama. They got together, we knew it soon after, they didn’t avoid being photographed together and they managed to show their love on social media without being annoying about it. No one got dumped over the phone, and it seems like they are really together, as in they spend a lot of time together and they’ve met each other’s families and all of that. And after a year… there still isn’t an engagement. But there is a cake and a special one-year-anniversary present.

Calvin shared a Snapchat of the (homemade?) cake for their one-year anniversary. I wonder if Taylor baked it?

And Taylor IG’d a photo of the yellow-gold locket that Calvin gave her for their anniversary.

Can I admit that I like this? While the locket isn’t my style, I think it’s very much Swifty’s style, and I love that Calvin knew her well enough to give her that locket as a present. And I love that she baked him a cake. So… yeah, I’m still enjoying them. If and when they break up, it will be epic, but for now… I’m totally rooting for an engagement. Maybe later this year? Maybe on their two-year anniversary?
