She’s rubbed elbows with world leaders, been hailed one of the world’s next great fashion icons over the past year, and made history as the first First Lady of color since moving into The White House in January, but at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations on Tuesday, Michelle Obama called her public service announcement for children’s television classic Sesame Street “probably the best thing” she’s done as First Lady.

First Puppy Bo just can’t compare to Elmo.

“I’m thrilled to be here, but I was just at ‘Sesame Street’ – I’m sorry,” the First Lady said as she thanked the diplomats and staff members promoting her husband’s new foreign policy of global engagement. “And I never thought I’d be on ‘Sesame Street’ with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled. I’m still thrilled. I’m on a high.”

Mrs. O visited Sesame Street this week to tape a Public Service Announcement as part of Sesame Workshop’s Healthy Habits For Life Initiative. Mrs. Obama and longtime Sesame Street resident Elmo chatted about the importance of eating right, exercising regularly, and being a healthy and positive role model for kids.

“I think it’s probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House. But we were there talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and it’s just been a thrill.”
