ROYAL ROTA Her Majesty The Queen and President of The United States of America at State Banquet, Buckingham Palace, London, England, UK

I kept waiting to see what photo-ops Donald Trump would get with the British royal family, and whether there would be any kind of “money shot” of Trump with the younger royals, Harry, Meghan, Kate and/or William. Meghan clearly begged off because of her maternity leave, which we knew ahead of time. Harry found a way to have lunch with the Trumps but not be photographed side-by-side with Bigly, and Harry merely lurked in the back of the Royal Collection photo-op. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge seem to have entirely avoided the photo-op. They were briefly in the same frame (much like Harry), but in the background of the state banquet shots. This is notable, says Tom Sykes at the Daily Beast. While Harry got criticized for largely blanking on the Trumps, Sykes argues that it’s even more notable that Will & Kate seemed to completely avoid any photo-ops:

Trump, however, has been left unable to complain and demand a photo call with Harry or William, because he has been given several moments with the queen and Prince Charles, who significantly outrank Harry, who is sixth in line to the throne, and therefore not obligated to take part in state occasions. Trump’s cold-shouldering by William and Kate is arguably a more provocative move on the part of the young royals. As second in line to the throne, it could be argued that William and his wife do have a responsibility to greet Trump one-on-one in front of the cameras, but so far they have studiously avoided doing so.

At the state banquet, they were both seated several places away from Trump, in what was clearly a deliberate (and successful) attempt to restrict the president’s ability to harness the popularity of the young royals. Harry was never scheduled to attend the state banquet, but his absence was still (correctly) interpreted as a snub to Trump. It was also noticeable that when Trump visited Westminster Abbey on Monday to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior, he was not accompanied by William, as might have been expected, but by Prince Andrew, the queen’s second son. Andrew’s name-recognition in the wider U.S. is minimal, meaning the trip will have little PR value for the 2020 campaign. Instead, Trump will have to be content with images of him greeting the queen and Prince Charles.

And yet, President Trump has made it clear to those close to him that he actually does care about his reputation among the British royals. According to several former and current White House officials, Trump will grow visibly more animated or excited when the topic of meeting prominent members of royal families comes up, including the British royals. He makes a point of repeatedly asking aides about what he and others should wear during state visits and high-profile events with foreign countries’ royalty, the sources said, and enthusiastically asks advisers about what kind of pomp and pageantry he should expect.

“He is sensitive about the perceptions that he offended… the Queen,” a former White House official said, referencing a moment last year when the U.S. president appeared to briefly and awkwardly walk in front of the then 92-year-old Queen Elizabeth II. “He also really just wants the [British] royal family to like him.” Two people close to the president said that on multiple occasions he’s complained privately about a media narrative that he believes portrays the British royal family as hating Trump and not wanting to spend time with him while he’s in town. “The president thinks that it’s ‘fake news’ trying to make it look like they don’t like him personally, when really [he feels that] they do love Trump,” one of these sources said.

Further, a Whitehall official told The Times that the queen’s meeting last year with President Trump was “kept to the bare minimum. The Queen will do her duty, but among the wider family, they were not as enthusiastic as they were when [President Barack] Obama came over.”

[From The Daily Beast]

Yep. Here’s the thing: I never want to hear any more faux pearl-clutching about how g–damn “political” Meghan is and how she’s “breaking protocol” because she expresses a mild opinion about this social issue or that economic issue or whatever. Because what this state visit has shown is that ALL of the royals are political animals and they all make their own choices about where and when to be “political.” Will and Kate’s absence from nearly all of the Trump-visit activities WAS a political statement, especially given their eagerness to hang out (repeatedly) with the Obamas. And I don’t blame them at all, to be clear. I actually think they were very clever to largely avoid all the Trump shenanigans. But let’s remember this when the Daily Mail does a blaring ALL-CAPS headline about Meghan being “too political” when she, like, talks about microfinancing or eats an avocado.

I wanted to thank all of you who comment and who have emailed and tweeted me about the Amazon posts. Becks1, Launica Angelina, Mari Shala, Mabs, Manda and so many more of you are helping me find products and giving feedback on the stuff you bought from the posts. Many of you already have the stuff we talk about and comment on whether you like it. This week I got the motherload of skincare recommendations from Claire B. I ran her stuff through fakespot and they check out. Here’s what she wrote “I’m a terrible anxiety shopper and I’d love for all my trial and error to inform someone else. I’ve been reading CB for years and, some days, it’s the only place I can handle being on the internet.” I asked her if I could promote anything for her but she just thanked us for our political coverage, which was so nice. Thank you Claire! I’m including some more skincare which I found. I know fakes are a problem on Amazon, so I’ve been looking out for those in the reviews and am not including some of her favorites for that reason. (She likes Cerave, but there’s a problem with counterfeit products in their cleanser line sold on Amazon. That does not seem to be an issue with the other products or with their moisturizer listed below.)

A gentle anti-aging cleanser for all skin types

This daily foaming face wash from TruSkin has vitamin C, aloe vera, MSM & rosehip oil. It has over 1,000 reviews, a 4.3 star rating and an A from Fakespot. It’s free of parabens, sulfates and alcohol. Reviewers say a little goes a long way and that it makes a difference on older skin. One woman writes “The dark areas on my cheeks and neck have lightened considerably, my overall skin texture is healthier and the constant little whiteheads I’ve always had on my chin are gone.” Another woman said “my skin has never felt so soft and clean before” and a third says it’s the best her skin has looked in 16 years.

A acne-clearing cleanser that works for sensitive skin
Amazon_FirstAidBeauty
I looked through so many skincare bestsellers and this gentle fragrance free foaming cleanser from First Aid Beauty stood out. It has 4.5 stars, over 400 reviews and an A from Fakespot. Reviewers call it “the best facial wash I have ever used,” say it helps reduce acne, is the “holy grail face wash for sensitive combination skin” and that it’s “helped my skin so much.” Some people say it doesn’t get mascara and eye makeup off and that you don’t want to get it in your eyes, but others claim that it does remove makeup without a problem.

A light all-around moisturizer for day and night
Amazon_CeraveMoisturizerLight
Claire recommended this light moisturizer from Cerave, which women love. It has almost 1,700 reviews, 4.5 stars and a B from Fakespot. This is said to be “lightweight, non-greasy” and to be quickly absorbed. Several reviewers mention that it’s just as good if not better than more expensive products and call it an “amazing product for the price.” It can be layered with serums and face oils.

A 2.5% retinol cream with hyaluronic acid
Amazon_AmaraCream
This is a recommendation from Claire, who writes “I restarted my retinol usage with this cream. It’s very moisturizing and not as irritating as some retinol creams.” This has over 1,000 reviews, a 4.4 star rating and a B from Fakespot. Women rave about how it cleared up their cystic acne and write that “my skin tone is even and the texture is smooth.” People with sensitive skin say it’s very gentle and not irritating at all and that it “made a noticeable difference in how my skin felt after about 3 days and how it looked in about 10 days.”

Organic argan oil for your hair and face
Amazon_EveHansonArganOil
This organic argan oil from Eve Hanson, a brand many of you recommend, has 4.5 stars, over 1,600 reviews and an A from Fakespot. I need to be better at using my face oils, and I have a few after featuring them on these posts. I think I need the argan oil now. Claire writes “I like how smoothly processed this oil is. 5 drops is more than enough to cover my face and neck after my other moisturizers.” One woman writes “this oil smells wonderful and absorbs into the skin quickly” and says she also uses it for a weekly treatment on her hair and scalp. Other women use it on their hands and cuticles, and say that it’s the same as pricier brands. It’s also said to hydrate “without leaving an oily film.”

A deep k-beauty moisturizer with snail mucin
Amazon_DeepMoisturizingSnailCream
Claire explains “This stuff is so weird, but I love it. It’s got a nice citrusy scent and whatever the snail mucus has, it softens my skin like crazy. The feeling is still there even after I wake up, so it’s definitely acting on the skin and not getting rubbed off on my pillowcase.” I’ve used other snail mucus moisturizer and I actually liked it. The good news is that this is “ethically harvested in a cruelty free environment” where snails have room to move. This has 4.1 stars, 495 reviews and a B from Fakespot. Users say it dramatically reduces dryness and flaking and one woman calls it a “life-saver moisturizer for me since I started using Retin-A.” A 50 year-old man said it reduces his under-eye bags and a woman writes that it “helped make a noticeable difference in the fine lines across my forehead and around the corners of my eyes.”

Microfiber face cleaning cloths to exfoliate and clean deeply
Amazon_MicrofiberFaceCloths2
Here’s another great product from Claire, a two-in-one cleansing cloth called MojaFiber with one side for exfoliating and another to clean. Claire writes “I wash my face (gently) with these every night. The constant exfoliation is great for my skin. They pick up any leftover makeup or tinted sunscreen.” I didn’t know these existed and now I want them! They have almost 500 reviews, 4.5 stars and an A from Fakespot. Reviewers say these are better than other microfiber face cloths as they’re not as abrasive and will not irritate sensitive skin. They’re called the “best facial washcloths ever” and are said to be “incredibly soft” and to “remove makeup like a dream.” Here’s a link to a YouTube video, a screenshot of which is at the top of this page, about the MojaFiber cloth.

Thanks for reading and commenting on our affiliate post! Also I wanted to add that Amazon is usually great with their return policy and that they have a very good phone support staff, which I have used many times.

For Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Toronto Raptors played the Golden State Warriors on the Warriors’ home turf, ORACLE Arena in Oakland. The Warriors still lost, because even though Steph Curry is Steph Curry, the Warriors were missing Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Kevon Looney. Beyonce is a big fan of the Warriors, but she also supports LeBron and just basketball in general. She and Jay-Z usually make it to several of the Finals games, and they always sit courtside. So it was for Game 3 – Jay and Beyonce sitting on the court, right beside the owner of the Warriors, Joe Lacob, and his wife Nicole Curran. Unfortunately for everyone, the seating arrangement was Jay, Beyonce, Nicole and Joe, all in a row. This caused some problems. Watch this:

Becky. Needs. To. Stop. Leaning. MY GOD. If you were that close to Beyonce, wouldn’t you try to spontaneously shrink your body so you wouldn’t dare touch the Bey-couture?? The LAST thing you would do is LEAN OVER BEYONCE to talk to Jay-Z. Wait for Lemonade Deux, with songs like “Becky With the Courtside Seat” and “You Just Try Leaning Over Me One More Time.”

Anyway, the Beyhive was especially active last night, and now you know why. Nicole Curran had to be identified, her social media accounts had to be found, and a million bee emojis had to be flooded in her comments. And thus, a meme was born.

President Trump state visit to UK - Day One

Embed from Getty Images

Before the state banquet at Buckingham Palace for Donald Trump, there was speculation that Rose Hanbury would attend, especially since her husband is the Lord Great Chamberlain and has some kind of official capacity at these events. So, people were expecting it. She did show up, but there was a lot of confusion about the general vibe, when she arrived, and where she sat. Buzzfeed’s Ellie Hall did a deep dive on the whole thing – Rose was not part of the procession of royals and Americans, she walked in with Sarah Vine before the formal procession, and she was already at her seat when William and Kate arrived. Rose did not wear her wedding ring but did wear some kind of diamond something in her hair. Her dress was a repeat – she wore the same thing to two other state banquets. And she has walked in the procession line in years past – Ellie Hall says in 2017, she walked behind Will and Kate (who were walking separate from each other) in the procession. Oh, and while Rose was seated not-close to William and Kate on Monday night, she was in Kate’s eyeline and William’s eyeline. Interesting.

So, what else is new? After the story of the alleged Rose-William affair picked up steam and then swiftly died as William used his lawyers to threaten all British media, the story is getting picked up again. There’s no new reporting about an AFFAIR, mind you. The British outlets are just recapping the original shady story, which is that Kate sees Rose as a “rural rival” and that Kate tried to “phase her out.” Interestingly enough, Tatler ran a story about Rose’s presence, and keep in mind that Tatler’s latest editor is Kate’s good friend.

Rumours of a rift spread like wildfire across the media earlier this year. The alleged rift, was, of course, between Norfolk neighbours the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and the Duchess of Cambridge. The supposed rift didn’t stop the Marchioness of Cholmondeley receiving an invitation – and attending – Monday night’s state banquet along with her husband, the Marquess.

The Marquess, who as Lord Great Chamberlain is a regular fixture at state and ceremonial events (and would be expected to bring his wife to the occasion), was seated on the table closest to the Duchess of Cambridge, next to the Duchess of Gloucester. Whereas former model Rose, dressed in floor-length silk (to the Duchess of Cambridge’s white Alexander McQueen), was tactfully placed at the other side of the room. Perhaps to limit photographic opportunities to capture the pair that would be additional fuel for the rumours and spark speculation?

Of course, the majority of couples, if not all of them, appeared to be split between the two tables. The Marchioness was the same distance from Prince William as the Marquess was from the Duchess of Cambridge. The Norfolk neighbours, who live just four miles apart in Houghton and Anmer Hall respectively, were initially thought to be close friends – perhaps no longer so?

[From Tatler]

“Perhaps no longer so?” LOL. If William wanted to flatly deny the affair, he could have. If Rose wanted to flatly deny the affair, she could have. What William did instead was run to Richard Kay and throw his sister-in-law under the bus and throw a massive tantrum about how Kate is an angel on earth who will be queen and has never put a foot wrong. William did it to himself, is what I’m saying. I’m also saying that William and Kate were likely VERY displeased that Rose was there, but again, that was the whole point of the “rural rival” story. I still believe it likely originated with Rose telling Kate, “Silly little middle-class girl, you can’t phase me out, I’m part of this society whether you like it or not.” If you read the whole series of gossip events as Rose asserting her social power, it totally makes sense. And I think that Rose’s appearance at the banquet reinforces that too, sending the message that “real aristocrats socialize with their mistresses and mistresses’ husbands and it’s all fine.”

Madonna turned 60 years old last year. She turns 61 in a few months. I guess she didn’t have much to promote last August, so we’re getting some “Madonna at 60” articles now, because she has a new album (Madame X). I’ve read a lot of Madonna interviews over the years, and maybe three or four years ago, there was definitely a shift. Madonna was no longer a shock-artist, but what changed is that she didn’t seem to WANT to shock us anymore. Her interviews were, at times, surprisingly substantive, as she came to grips with ageing within the music industry and daring to still make art in her late 50s and all of that. The New York Times has a lengthy new article/interview with Madonna this week, and it’s best to just set some time aside to let the piece wash over you. It’s not a straight interview, and Madonna doesn’t always give straight answers. But it’s a good read. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:

When songs from Rebel Heart leaked: “There are no words to describe how devastated I was. It took me a while to recover, and put such a bad taste in my mouth I wasn’t really interested in making music.” She added, “I felt raped.”

She’s lonely in Portugal: “It’s quite medieval and feels like a place where time stopped in a way, and it feels very closed…There’s a cool vibe there, but where I was living with my kids, I felt very cut off from a lot. It was FIFA and my kids’ school and that’s it. I’m fighting with the plumber…. I really wanted to make friends.”

What she hopes she represented in her early days: “A woman fearlessly expressing herself and saying, ‘I’m encouraging all of you to be independent, to speak your mind, to express your sexuality freely without shame, to not allow men to objectify you, to objectify yourself’ — I don’t know. All of those things seemed like the natural way of where we should be going. And strangely, a lot of feminists criticized me for it, and I got no support from that group. They thought, Well, you can’t use your sexuality to empower yourself as a female, which I think is rubbish, because that’s part of who I am and part of me as a female and a human being, my sexuality. That’s not the only thing, that wasn’t my only weapon and that wasn’t the only thing I was talking about.”

On Harvey Weinstein: “Harvey crossed lines and boundaries and was incredibly sexually flirtatious and forward with me when we were working together; he was married at the time, and I certainly wasn’t interested…I was aware that he did the same with a lot of other women that I knew in the business. And we were all, ‘Harvey gets to do that because he’s got so much power and he’s so successful and his movies do so well and everybody wants to work with him, so you have to put up with it.’ So that was it. So when it [his downfall] happened, I was really like, ‘Finally.’ I wasn’t cheering from the rafters because I’m never going to cheer for someone’s demise. I don’t think that’s good karma anyway. But it was good that somebody who had been abusing his power for so many years was called out and held accountable.”

Trump has a weak character, typical of alpha males: “They’re overcompensating for how insecure they feel — a man who is secure with himself, a human who is secure with themselves, doesn’t have to go around bullying people all the time.”

Marriage didn’t agree with her: “I found myself as a wife, in both of my marriages, being as I think everybody is: You try to please another person, and sometimes you find you are not being who you really are. That’s the struggle, I suppose, of being in a marriage or a relationship, especially as a woman. We often think we have to play down our accomplishments or make ourselves smaller, so we don’t make other people feel intimidated or less than.”

On ageing: “Stop thinking, just live your life and don’t be influenced by society trying to make you feel some type of way about your age or what it is you’re supposed to be doing. We are a marginalized group, women. And just because it’s hard doesn’t mean you stop fighting against it or defying it or refusing to be pigeonholed or put in a box or labeled or told you can and can’t do things. What is the truth? Your truth when you’re 18 is not going to be your truth when you’re 28 or when you’re 38. Life is not black and white. It’s gray, and one minute you’re going to feel so strongly and believe in something so strongly, and then maybe you won’t in five years.”

[From The New York Times]

I found this article to be both overwrought, overwritten and yet… this is the most interesting I’ve found Madonna in a long time. Think of how bold it is to be where she is now and just like “marriage doesn’t agree with me” or “stop thinking about ageing and just live” and “objectify yourself, it’s empowering.” I used to think Madonna was a rebel without a cause, that there was nothing really behind her pop songs and ever-changing image. But the message was always there, wasn’t it? Just do whatever the f–k you want to do, just like any man would. Be a boss, be a sexual being, be a nutcase, be old, be tired and be an artist, all at once, just like a 60 year old man would be.

This post is a follow up to almost everything I brought up in Monday’s post about Miley Cyrus’ new EP, She is Coming. First off, I mentioned that the phone number she listed on the condom cut off when called and that I thought there was a missed opportunity for Miley to promote one of her many charities, like Planned Parenthood. Fortunately, Miley was one step ahead of me and her next merchandise partnership does, in fact, serve double duty as promotion and charity. On Tuesday, Miley announced her collaboration with Marc Jacobs on a hoodie, the proceeds of which will support Planned Parenthood:

View this post on Instagram

Very special collab with @plannedparenthood @happyhippiefdn @marcjacobs TO BE ANNOUNCED veryyyyyy soon! #WomensRightsAreHumanRights #DONTFUCKWITHMYFREEDOM ??? ???

A post shared by Ashley O (@mileycyrus) on Jun 4, 2019 at 8:10am PDT

I shouldn’t have doubted her, Miley is very committed to her causes. This is great. The sweatshirt itself is pink and has the slogan “Don’t F—k with My Freedom” over a photo of a topless Miley. Unfortunately, Miley had to use that same phrase, which is a lyric from her song, Mother’s Daughter, when she addressed being assaulted in Spain by a supposed fan:

She can be wearing what she wants. She can be a virgin. She can be sleeping with 5 different people.

She can be with her husband. She can be with her girlfriend. She can be naked.

She CAN’T be grabbed without her consent. #DontFuckWithMyFreedom pic.twitter.com/hBDzuflKF1

— Ashley O (@MileyCyrus) June 4, 2019

Miley is exactly right, of course, and I fully support her on this. But not everyone felt that way and they reached into their Archaic Beliefs handbags to plaster this idiocy to Facebook:

Don’t fuck with my freedom. #stillnotaskingforit pic.twitter.com/b0Mc0fbYsp

— Ashley O (@MileyCyrus) June 4, 2019

Will we ever not blame the woman in her own attack? My word. And please understand that no matter what stance I take on the items below, I 100% back Miley on this response and am horrified at what happened to her in Spain.

That said, I was taken aback by her response to a negative review of her album by Sydney Gore at Highsnobiety. Sydney really did not care for the album, calling it, “a Directionless Hot Mess Express” in her article’s title. Harsh, yes, but I also agree in whole with her full review. But Miley didn’t and took the fight to Twitter. She called the review “sh—ty” and claimed it was the first bad one she’d seen. She corrected the reviewer on the spelling of her mom’s name and finished by calling the reviewer “out of touch” while thanking her for posting a link to the album. The whole thing was, to borrow Sydney’s phrase, a hot mess. The website stood by its reviewer, although they did apologize for misspelling Tish’s name, and Miley ended up deleting all her tweets about it.

And lastly, I mentioned Miley’s use of food in her promotion. I wanted to hand Miley a napkin but artist Stephanie Sarley’s might be handing her a cease and desist for plagiarizing her work. After being tipped off by a follower, Sarley thinks Miley didn’t even try to hide the theft, saying that it was, “very apparent that what they did to me was super deliberate.” Going by these NSFW videos of Miley’s and Sarley’s, I agree. And yes, I do mean NSFW because even though it’s food, these videos turned me on, which is going to make my relationship with my fruit salad lunch a little awkward.

Anthony Mackie, 40, has a video segment for Vanity Fair’s “What I do in a day” series which I’m only discovering now. How is this new to me? I love The Cut’s “How I Get It Done” column, which is similar. I was so fascinated by both his schedule, which sort-of mirrors mine apart from all the productivity and nice things he has, and the stuff he does. He runs four miles to the gym every day. He snacks on healthy food throughout the day but has a cheat day, Fridays, where he goes from bar to bar in his town, New Orleans, starting at 6pm and drinks specialty cocktails. He also remodels houses when he’s not acting, which we’ve heard from him before. I didn’t realize how much of the actual work he does. It sounds crazy when you consider how much he’s working out. Also he loves the Golden Girls and falls asleep most nights watching it! You can watch his video below and here are my favorite parts.

He wakes up at 5
I wake up at 5am to Beyonce. The first thing I do in the morning is 100 pushups. Second thing is brush my teeth.

His daily breakfast and snack
Steel cut oils, no fruit with a little bit of almond milk. Scoop of acai, scoop of protein. Fuel me for the next three hours. Unsalted almonds, boiled peanuts or a pickled pig lip is the best thing on earth, or some hoghead cheese, I call that “redneck pate.” I eat every 3 hours. I do fish for lunch. Sauteed spinach [with] tuna, brown rice.

He runs four miles to the gym at 7:30
30 minutes of legs. Monday is chest and tri, Tuesday back and biceps, everyday abs for 20 minutes, Wednesday would be legs and shoulders.

He builds houses when he’s not acting
From the gym I go to the house. Right now my thing is stained glass, I’ll make a little stained glass piece and stick it in the wall. In the afternoon I put my dudes on other projects and I do the little stuff, installing cabinets, cutting granite, putting in flooring, sheet rock.

On Fridays starting at 6 he drinks
I leave home, walk to the Quarter. Hit Port ‘O Call get me a Huma Huma. Go to my Cuban spot get my mohito. Go get my daiquiri from New Orleans Original Daiquiri, house special 64 ounce. Spot at my cigar spot on Canal, get a cigar, then I got some Pho from the ‘mese. After that hit the couch or playing with the kids. Turn on the TV watch a little Cartoon Network. Kids in the bed 8:30.

He falls asleep around 9:30 watching Golden Girls
Turn on Hallmark channel watch Frasier which comes on after Golden Girls. Depends on if I can stay up for Frasier. Usually Golden Girls do the trick. Dorothy and Blanche, that’s my boos. I watch The Hallmark channel. I love it, you make quality programming. I can’t wait to be in one of your movies.

I have one of those old people mattresses. If you have not been in one of those Tempurpedic joints that bend with the remote control, you’re sleeping wrong.

There’s more in there about his skincare routine and how much he loves his custom shower. He puts aromatherapy oils in it! Plus he loves going to the Korean spa when he’s in LA. I came away wondering about his wife, he’s been married since 2014 to his high school sweetheart (although I’m pretty sure he dated other people in the interim), and they have three kids but I couldn’t google how old they are. Also how does he get home from the gym? He runs four miles there so does he run home too? Does he call a friend or an Uber? Also as someone who wakes up at 5 and goes to bed around 10, I think our schedules would be very compatible. I need a nap every afternoon to get to 10 though. I could do 9:30 without the nap.

If you were wondering which movie or television show might be the next one to get a reboot, wonder no more: Punky Brewster is back! Deadline reports that this will be a sequel to the beloved 1980s sitcom that aired for four seasons, the first two on NBC and then in syndication. Most importantly, Soleil Moon Frye will be lacing up her high-tops and returning as Punky:

The original multi-camera series, created by David W. Duclon, centered on Punky (Frye), a bright young girl raised by a foster dad (George Gaynes). In the multi-camera/hybrid reboot, Punky (Frye) is now a single mother of three trying to get her life back on track when she meets a young girl who reminds her a lot of her younger self.

[From Deadline]

Soleil, who also voiced Punky in the animated spin-off, It’s Punky Brewster, shared the news on Instagram for her fans alongside a picture of Punky in her signature vest and ponytails, giving the camera two thumbs up:

Soleil, 42, married producer Jason Goldberg in 1998 and they have four children, daughters Poet, 13, Jagger, 11, and sons Lyric, 5, and Story, 3. After Punky’s run, Soleil worked as a guest star on various sitcoms and did voiceover work. She released two parenting books and has directed two films. She also co-founded an eco-friendly children’s boutique in LA called The Little Seed.

According to the Deadline article, Soleil just finished filming Heirlooms, described as a “crime comedy,” co-starring Shelley Long and Luke Wilson. I think that the last time that I saw Soleil on TV was when she guest-starred on Friends in the episode, “The One with the Girl Who Hits Joey,” as girlfriend, Katie. (And that aired 20 years ago. Yikes.) I watched Punky Brewster in syndication and always loved that, like me, Punky enjoyed wearing lots of colors at once. I’ll be tuning into the reboot, curious to see what they’ve done with Punky-as-an-adult.
