US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump Arrival at Downing Street

Something I think about all the time: early in the Trump administration, some newspaper or weekly did an article about how foreign diplomats think Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are raging morons, and one unnamed Saudi diplomat basically said (and I’m paraphrasing) that they should be compared to the idiots of the Saudi royal family, given fake jobs to flatter them and make them look important, but never given any real power. It’s true though? That’s what they are. The Trumps operate on cronyism, blind loyalty to the Don and mafia-like family connections. So, unsurprisingly, Ivanka and Jared have been “included” in everything about the Trumps’ state visit to the UK. Ivanka was at 10 Downing Street today with her father and step-mother. She attended the state banquet, and the lunch at the palace.

I didn’t want to write about Ivanka’s fashion choices, but it’s clear from the comments that you guys want to discuss, so here you go. My form is protest is that I’m not going to look up the IDs on any of Ivanka’s sh-t. F–k her and her fug clothes. Her outfit today for the 10 Downing visit was so inappropriate – a sheer blouse with animal print? Gross. She thought she looked amazing though. She did not.

This is what she wore for the day activities yesterday. THAT HAT. Gross. The whole ensemble is a trainwreck, if we’re being honest.

And finally, here’s Ivanka’s look for the state banquet, alongside Eric’s wife and Tiffany Trump. They looked horrible!

Prince Harry showed up yesterday as Donald Trump and his entourage toured the Royal Collection with the Queen. He stayed near the back of the group, interacting briefly with Ivanka Trump, but was not seen at any point going near her father – this, of course, a day after Trump called Meghan Markle “n…

For days now, there’s been an absolutely wonderful meme going around the internet. Black Twitter – specifically, several black women – decided to play with Photoshop and give Chris Evans acrylic nails, bonnets, braids and more. It didn’t stop with Chris, but he was the one who looked the best in the acrylics and bonnets. It was just the kind of silly and fun thing which gets picked up and shared like crazy. Some samples:

So, it was a really cute and funny thing on Twitter. But you know how Chris Evans is actually quite active on Twitter, right? He’s always tweeting stuff – jokes to costars, political thoughts, stuff about charity. Well, he saw the meme. And he LOVED it.

This gave me a genuine belly laugh. https://t.co/BOmC7JUUdV

Props to Chris for taking it as it was meant: something fun and silly and light-hearted. If you want to laugh your ass off, go to that tweet and read all the replies. They were sending him a million more “sis” tweets and it was amazing.

As you know, the Queen hosted the Trump Administration at Buckingham Palace last night after a day of joint British and American activities. Prince William and Catherine were there too. President Trump state visit to UK - Day One

Here are more photos of the Duchess of Cambridge at last night’s state banquet for the Trump family. All of the significant women wore white: Kate, Melania, Camilla, the Queen and Rose Hanbury (lol). Kate’s ruffled McQueen was… better than I expected, honestly. I mean, it is what it is and her style is her style, and within Kate’s style parameters, it looked good. What I guess I didn’t realize is that her look was also significant because this was the first time she got to wear her sash after the Queen made her a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. That happened recently – just weeks after the Rose Hanbury story blew up, and as I said at the time, it felt like a gift from the Queen – “thanks for sticking with my cheater grandson, here’s a sash.” It came eight years after Kate and William’s marriage, which seems like a long time.

It was at the state banquet last night that the Duchess of Cambridge debuted her sash as representative of her new royal order. Since April, when Kate Middleton celebrated her eighth wedding anniversary to Prince William, she has been a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian (GCVO) Order – and Donald, Melania and all the president’s men were the first to witness her elevation in status.

Note the blue, red and white sash and the badge featuring the Maltese cross – the regalia that comes with the Royal Victorian Order (RVO). The honour, that was founded by Queen Victoria, is for personal services to the monarch. It is the Queen’s way of showing gratitude for the way that the Duchess of Cambridge has conducted herself these past eight years; for eight successful years of marriage to her grandson and for producing lineage of the House of Windsor via three heirs. The award was considered a ‘very public show of support from the Queen’ – and is the very highest for services to Her Majesty.

[From Tatler]

Oh, here’s something else I forgot to point out – in addition to wearing the Lover’s Knot tiara – which is the tiara the Queen usually gives to Kate – Kate also wore the Queen Mother’s sapphire and diamond fringe earrings. As for the RVO, now Kate has the same “rank” as Camilla and Sophie (the Countess of Wessex), and she’s expected to show up at the annual Order of the Garter ceremony. Which will be happening soon:

The Duchess of Cambridge will be joined by two of the most glamourous royals at this year’s Order of the Garter ceremony, which will take place in Windsor Castle on 17 June. HELLO! understands that Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands are flying in to support their husbands, King Felipe VI and King Willem-Alexander, as the Queen formally invests them with the Order’s insignia in the Throne Room of the Castle.

Letizia and Maxima will no doubt be in good hands, as Kate is due to attend alongside the Duchess of Cornwall and the Countess of Wessex. The mother-of-three has attended nearly every Garter ceremony since 2011, only missing it in 2015 and 2018 as she was on maternity leave. Her husband Prince William is a member of the Order.

[From Hello]

I’m sure all of the royal experts around here know this already, but I did NOT know that Princess Anne is the only Windsor woman who is a member of the Order of the Garter right now. Sophie is not, Kate is not, Camilla is not. Their husbands are members of the Order, but not them. Huh. I wonder if that will be the next prize. Going with the line of succession, it would seem like Camilla should be given the Order of the Garter before Kate though.

US Magazine knows how easy it is to cover Jana Kramer and Mike Caussin. All you do is ask them questions, they reveal how dysfunctional their relationship is, and you report on the things they say. Rinse and repeat. Jana has made a cottage industry out of it with her podcast too. Mike cheated on Jana right before their wedding, he cheated on her after they got married, he cheated on her again after they had a child, and she sent him to sex rehab, took him back, and they had another. Us asked Mike if there were any deal breakers in his relationship with Jana and he said that yes, it would be a deal breaker if she cheated on him. Because they’ve done so much work on that or something.

Fans weren’t the only ones left baffled after Mike Caussin recently revealed that he’d call it quits on his relationship with wife Jana Kramer if she was unfaithful.

“I am still scratching my head about that, too, because it feels very one-sided to me, and it honestly kind of hurts my feelings that he wouldn’t stand by me if I did that,” Kramer, 35, told Us Weekly … “And I think that’s what hurts me — knowing no matter the work we’ve done or not that you wouldn’t stand by me.”

“I know deal breaker means deal breaker, if it happens, you’re out. That’s why I tried to talk around it and say that no one knows how they’re going to act until they’re in that situation, and the same goes for me,” Caussin, 32, dished to Us. “And so, because of all the work we have done, it would just be crazy to think that that would even happen, but if it did, that means we missed a lot of steps along the way. And I don’t know — that’s just the one thing — I don’t know if there’s anything else that would make me consider being a deal breaker.”

Kramer, however, noted that it’s still a hard pill to swallow. “That one still bothers me a little bit,” she said. “One day we’ll understand.”

Kramer and Caussin briefly split in September 2016 after Us Weekly revealed he cheated on Kramer with multiple women. He entered treatment for 60 days and the couple later reconciled, renewing their vows in December 2017.

Kramer also stuck by Caussin despite his sex addiction relapse in 2018. The twosome — who share daughter Jolie, 3, and son Jace, 6 months — celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary last month.

Wow this guy really is trash. Also Jana says she regrets it that Mike had a vasectomy because she wanted another baby. He then made a slippery slope argument about having kids, “when does it end” and not having enough time to themselves when they’re old. You can read their quotes in US. My friend’s husband, who was similarly cheating on her with so many women, also took it upon himself to get a vasectomy when she wanted more kids. Luckily she’s divorced from him now but I think guys like that get vasectomies so they can have unprotected sex with their side pieces too. I learned a new acronym in the comments on US. DTMFA. She needs to do that. At least she won’t be having more kids with him.

In the caption to this post she’s saying the cheating made them stronger, right?

Michael, Jolie, and I moved to California 2 years ago for a fresh start, new beginnings, and a blank page to heal. Truthfully, I was uncertain where our future was going when we first moved in. But what I’ve learned is that no matter your journey you can always grow more, learn more, and love more. Work hard for what you love and believe in. Looking at this photo and reflecting on the past 2 years it all makes sense now. We are leaving this house a family of 4 more united than ever before. #lovewins #daretolove

star miranda

Basically, a week after Miranda Lambert announced that she had secretly married Brendan McLoughlin, I was already primed for more drama. I thought we would be getting weekly updates on all of the salad-tossing and mistress-having shenanigans from this union. We have not gotten any updates on them, really, other than they seem to be okay right now, in their first six months of marriage. Fingers crossed that some sh-t blows up this summer. For now, we’ll have to make due with Star’s latest cover, and how Star’s sources say that Miranda thinks this marriage was “the biggest mistake of her life.” Miranda’s rep has already shut it down:

One of the tabloids claims Miranda Lambert is divorcing husband Brendan McLoughlin after just 122 days of marriage. The story is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it. The country star and the NYPD officer tied the knot in January after only three months of dating, and according to Star, the relationship is already over. A supposed source tells the magazine that Lambert is “moving out” of their $2 million apartment in New York City and telling friends that “marrying Brendan was the biggest mistake of her life.”

One of the major issues, says the alleged insider, is the long-distance nature of their relationship. Lambert still owns a home in Nashville, and the time apart has supposedly been taking a toll on their marriage. “Flying Brendan back and forth to Tennessee was tiring,” adds the questionable tipster, adding that the singer wanted them to settle in Nashville and have a baby. Considering that Lambert just spent $2 million on a penthouse apartment in New York City, this assertion doesn’t make much sense.

Still, the seemingly phony source further contends that Lambert’s pals are concerned she’ll lose her fortune in the “split,” adding, “Because of the way she rushed in to marrying Brendan, they’re scared she didn’t have him sign a prenup. They’re very fearful she didn’t take the necessary legal steps to protect her money.”

The anonymous “insider” goes on to say that Lambert’s ex-husband Blake Shelton somehow got wind of the “divorce” news and sent her a snide text saying, “Better luck next time!” The so-called “source” adds, “That was especially cruel, given that he’s been in a loving relationship with Gwen Stefani since right after he and Miranda went their separate ways.” As for Lambert, she “can’t seem to believe she’s just had one failed romance after another,” adds the seemingly fictitious source.

Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with Lambert’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that Star’s report is “completely made-up.” The singer’s rep, speak on Lambert’s behalf, further assures us, “Not one iota is true. They are happy and together!”

[From Gossip Cop]

The thing I don’t believe about the Star story is that Miranda wants Brendan to give up his New York life to move full-time to Nashville so they can have a baby. For some reason, I just don’t think that Miranda is all about that. I think she prioritizes her career and she nurtures her salad-tossing melodrama, and maybe she’s self-aware enough to know that motherhood isn’t for her? I could be wrong, of course. As for the rest of it… do you think Miranda really married him without a prenup? Nah. She’s dumb in love/lust but not THAT dumb. And the rest of it is just normal Miranda drama – she loves all that stuff.

Prince Harry views displays of US items from the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace in London.

There’s just a cognitive dissonance when the British press tries to slam the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by nitpicking every little thing they do or don’t do. To hear the Cambridge-defenders, the “Will and Kate will be king & queen” people, Harry and Meghan are now “minor royals” and no one cares enough about them for their actions to even matter. Except that clearly, there’s an obsession with detailing every single thing about Harry and Meghan, often with a “damned if they do, damned if they don’t” shade. Prince Harry did his duty and showed up for the palace lunch for the Trumps. He also attended the Royal Collection presentation for the Trumps, which he wasn’t even scheduled to attend. Then Harry went back to Frogmore Cottage and didn’t attend the state dinner. Meghan stayed home with Archie for the day, because she’s still on maternity leave (she only gave birth a month ago). We knew that Harry would not go to the state dinner, it was announced weeks ago. But the Daily Mail is still trying to make all of this into some big “Harry snubbed the Trumps because his wife is too political and something something, it’s all Meg’s fault.” I thought they were minor royals and no one cared?

Prince Harry was noticeably absent from the State Banquet staged in honour of Donald Trump, in the wake of alleged comments made about his wife. The Duke of Sussex appeared less than keen to be pictured with the President – who reportedly branded Harry’s wife Meghan ‘nasty’ at the weekend after learning of comments she made about him while she was an actress.

Earlier in the day Harry had chaperoned Mr Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, into Buckingham Palace’s Picture Gallery for a display of US-themed artefacts. But the Queen’s grandson quickly disappeared into the background and did not follow other members of the Royal Family as they walked round the exhibition with the American leader and his party.

Speculation was rife that the prince had been angered by the comments apparently made by the president, after learning of the remarks Meghan made in 2016. Harry, 34, had been a last minute addition to the proceedings after aides initially suggested that neither he nor his wife would take part. This was partly due to the recent birth of their son, Archie, and also the fact that they do not normally get involved in State visits due to their position in the royal pecking order. Harry is now seventh in line to the throne and has only ever attended one State banquet previously.

Meghan is on maternity leave, having given birth to the couple’s first son just a month ago. But her omission would no doubt have come as a relief, with her previously describing Mr Trump as a ‘misogynist’ and ‘divisive’ in a 2016 interview when working as an actress.

A spokesman declined to comment further but it appeared that pressure had been put to bear on the couple to at least show willing given the significance of the Queen’s VIP guest. Royal sources stressed last night that Harry had shaken hands with Ivanka and her husband Jared, as well as with John Bolton, the President’s National Security Advisor. They also insisted that there was no ‘scripted procession’ for members of the royal family to walk round and view the exhibition.

All the guests at the lunch were expected to attend a display of artefacts from the Royal Collection, the treasure trove of art, antiques and artefacts held by the Queen on behalf of the nation, in the Picture Gallery afterwards, which is captured by the media. Harry’s appearance was notably fleeting, though. Although he chivalrously walked Ivanka in, the prince ducked out of joining the group as they politely walked around the display. In doing so he left the US President’s daughter to be rescued by a female member of staff from the Royal household. She quickly paired her up with the Duke of York, who could later be heard chatting to her about golf as they looked at pictures taken of royals through the ages at St Andrew’s. In the end the cameras only caught the briefest glimpse of the prince at the back of the room, with President Trump barely in shot.

[From The Daily Mail]

So, what’s the story here? Prince Harry, a “minor royal,” was not important enough to be invited to the state banquet, but he still barged into the Royal Collection viewing even though it wasn’t on his schedule, and then he purposefully ignored Ivanka and kept his distance from Donald Trump all because… his wife made a completely accurate statement that Trump is a misogynist back in 2016, before she had even met Harry? And on the eve of the trip, Trump called Meghan “nasty” and Harry is somehow to blame for not wanting any f–king thing to do with him?

I mean… Harry was between a rock and a hard place. I think it’s notable and interesting that Harry did NOT want to be photographed with the Trumps during this visit, just as I think it’s notable that William and Kate weren’t around for the day-time photo-ops too. The younger royals do a lot sh-t wrong, but I don’t blame them for awkwardly avoiding certain photo-ops and Trump shenanigans.

Also: Ivanka looked like a dumbass in that outfit. Giant shoulder pads, puffy sleeves and a stiff peplum? Girl, tone down your ‘80s Diana cosplay, that’s Kate’s thing.

U.S. President Donald Trump visits Britain

There’s a long history of gift-giving between the royal family and American presidents. I mean, every world leader who visits the Queen is expected to bring a gift, and they can expect to receive a gift as well. The Queen is surprisingly thoughtful gift-giver, and by that I mean that her staff does good research and there’s likely a huge meeting between staffs to figure out which gifts should be given and received. The best gift for the Queen is likely jewelry, right? The Obamas gave her a small brooch during one of their visits, and she wears it often enough. So the Trumps decided to do the same: they gave the Queen a brooch. Here’s more about the gift exchange:

The Trumps came bearing a Tiffany & Co. silver and silk poppy brooch in a custom White House wood jewelry box in a red leather box for Queen Elizabeth II, according to the White House. For her husband, Prince Philip, they brought a personalized Air Force One jacket and signed autobiography by American General and famed World War II air commander James Doolittle, “I Could Never Be So Lucky Again.”

Though Prince Philip left active duty naval service when he married then-Princess Elizabeth, he holds a number of military appointments, including as Marshal of the Royal Air Force.

The first lady was “very involved with the gift selection,” her spokesperson Stephanie Grisham said. “Working with the State Department, Mrs. Trump takes great care in selecting meaningful gifts,” she added.

Likewise, the Trumps were presented with thoughtful gifts of their own in keeping with longstanding tradition. For the President, the Queen gifted a 1959 first edition copy of Winston Churchill’s “The Second World War” bound in full crimson goatskin with gold tooling and a three-piece Duofold pen set. Trump has a known affinity for Churchill; in one of his first notable acts as President, he restored the bust of Winston Churchill, which had been moved during the Obama administration, to the Oval Office. For the first lady, a specially commissioned silver box with a handcrafted enamel lid.

[From CNN]

Well, what could the Queen do? Giving Trump a special book on Churchill was never going to be ideal, because Trump is illiterate and he really doesn’t know anything about Churchill, truly. But I’m sure he liked the pen set. She could have given him Sharpies and a big Mac and he would have been happy. I’m sure Melania liked her silver box. “But it’s not gold, Donald?” As for the poppy pin… yes, I guess credit to Melania – that was thoughtful.
