Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson: Wrestler, Actor, Producer, Philanthropist… Champion Baker? If he has anything to say about it, that’s how his name plaque will read. Apparently, like so many other celebrities, Dwayne is a fan of the Great British Bake Off and is hoping to get a chance to compete for the coveted glass cake stand trophy. He said that if his schedule allowed it, he’d love to do the show for charity.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed that he would love to take part in the Great British Bake Off. The actor, who is best known for his roles in Fast and Furious and Moana, has opened up about the hit Channel 4 baking show. Chatting to the Daily Star, he said: “Baking is something I am really fascinated by, mainly because I love to eat the finished product. I would do Celebrity Bake Off if I wasn’t shooting a movie – especially if it was for charity.”

He added that he “always tries to make time” to watch the show, and speaking about how he’d fare, he added: “Hopefully, I’d do well – but if not I could just kick somebody’s [expletive].” Dwayne isn’t the American star to have revealed that they love watching Bake Off, as A-listers including Anna Kendrick, Amy Schumer and Snoop Dogg, are self-confessed fans of the show.

[From Hello!]

Honestly this brings up more questions than it answers – he finds baking fascinating but is he any good at it? I find it fascinating to but that is specifically because I stink at it. And what would The Rock make for his crowning achievement? Layer cake? Cupcakes stacked in the shape of his F&F car? Some delicate French macaroons in a variety of flavors? But above all else, I desperately want to see the pastries fly when he loses and feels the need to “just kick somebody’s [expletive].” So let’s make this happen, whoever-I-need-to-talk-to. I am officially starting a “I Demand a British Baked Rock” petition.

But before that happens, Dwayne must finish his current project, which is Disney’s Jungle Cruise that he is currently filming in Kauai with Jack Whitehall and Emily Blunt. (You just know John Krasinski is flying over every weekend but this time it’s all about getting to hang with The Rock). As always, Dwayne set up his travelling gym, Iron Paradise, and invited Emily and Jack to join him. When it became obvious there was no competition weight training-wise, they came after each other’s accents instead and Dwayne, naturally, declared himself the winner:

My British voice is beautiful & sexy. Their “Rock voice” is repugnant & nauseating. The cast that trains together.. stays together. And the cast that talks smack to each other.. become LIFERS. Just your typical day in the IRON PARADISE with my JUNGLE CRUISE ohana, the relentlessly bad ass @jackwhitehall and the Incomparable One herself, Emily Blunt. Now bring it on in for a nice, long, sweaty, hug that goes on for way too long making it beautifully weird, while wearing 50lb chains. #MaryPoppinsAndMaui??? #JackIsABeast?? #IronParadise #JungleCruiseOhana #Lifers

I’d love to get my arms around Dwayne but I think even I’d decline until after he’d showered.

Free the Wild x 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' - Charity Screening

For those of you who love Cher like me, 2018 has blessed us with so much from the 72-year-old diva. Her no-holds-barred Twitter feed has taken 45 to task, but also given us her honest, emoji-packed and often funny thoughts. I mean, look at her review for the Lady Gaga version of A Star is Born. She’s a Roger Ebert in the making.

Just Saw Ad For “A?IS BORN”
LOOKS 2 ?????…..????

Remember…..???=COOL

— Cher (@cher) August 31, 2018

La Cher pretty much stole the show in Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again and will be awarded a Kennedy Center Honor for her career achievements. In addition, the musical based on her life, The Cher Show, opens on Broadway on December 3. If you need a musical Cher fix before that, fear not, as her cover album of ABBA hits, Dancing Queen, will be released on September 28.

Cher was recently the subject of a career-spanning interview with The New York Times, where she discussed meeting Sonny Bono, how she made the leap into acting, and so much more. This all coming from a woman who admitted, “I can’t hold back. It’s about character. My mom would beat me to death if I lied. I’m not starting now.” Here are some highlights:

On relying on her own instincts:
Before I met Sonny, I was very much a person who relied on her own instincts. But I was very young and just handed that over to Sonny. Then when I left him, I was real happy. But I started to make huge mistakes in front of everyone because I was still 16 inside. I hadn’t grown.

On her confidence as a singer:
I never feel confident. Off and on, I’ve felt good about my singing. But I’ve never been a huge Cher fan. I like doing it more than hearing it. So except for a couple of albums …

Cher on ABBA:
I wasn’t a big fan of Abba in the ’70s. Benny [Andersson] took the girls and used them like instruments. Sonny used to do that to me. He would carve out a place for them in the songs, and they would fit in that little place. But he didn’t give them space to sing the way they might have wanted to.

[My versions] are a lot freer. And it was a great time to do it. I’m a news junkie, and these are rough times. But when I was recording, I got swept up in the fun of it. The songs are silly and crazy, and for the album, I chose the ones that are saddest and the most fun.

On The Cher Show:
You have to know something more about me after the musical. That’s important to me. Listen, I didn’t have a play about myself before, and I was living very happily. So, I want it to be true and fun and like life is: Sometimes you’re great, and sometimes you’re pathetic. Sometimes you’re tired, and sometimes you break down. It should be like that. And nothing should be glossed over.

On her political tweets:
Trump voters don’t like me anyway. And I don’t blame them. I say terrible, true things about him. I hate him because he’s using his job to make money. But mostly, I hate him because he’s tearing this country down, and it’s going to take generations to put it back together, if we even can.

[From The New York Times]

Cher has already released her cover of “S.O.S.” from Dancing Queen. If it’s any indication of what the rest of the album is going to be like, I think both ABBA fans and Cher fans alike are in for a treat. Now, if I could only scrape together enough money to get to New York to see that show.

Hello world. Meet Cher. #DoYouBelieve

Claire Danes Welcomes Second Child With Husband Hugh Dancy

Congratulations are in order for Homeland star Claire Danes. A rep has confirmed that the actress gave birth to her second child with her actor hubby Hugh Dancy.

The Associated Press reported that the 39-year-old actress gave birth to her second son on August 27. Danes was seen out and about just four days after giving birth on the streets of New York minus a baby bump.

Danes had revealed herself that she was expecting another bundle of joy back in April during an interview on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show.

Claire confirmed she was soon to be a mother of two, “I am pregnant. I’m seriously prego … I’m deep into my second trimester.” She also added that the pregnancy was “planned.”

Danes went on to explain to Stern’s listeners, “We’ve been wanting another kid for a while, and it happened.”

The Golden Globe winner revealed back in June that she was planning on taking some time off of work once she gave birth to her second child.

“I am definitely with child. No, I feel OK. I’ve been doing a bit of traveling and tap dancing, as I call it, which is my term for letting people know that I’ve been making work and encourage them to see it,” Danes told reporters at the Homeland FYC event on June 5. “Pretty soon I get to retire for a little while and just be pregnant, which I look forward to.”

Danes revealed in a 2013 interview for Elle magazine that she always looked forward to becoming a mother and is grateful for the timing in her life that her wish came true.

“I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now. When I was thinking about working and being a mother originally, I was really nervous about it. I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus that I wanted to act.”

Danes and Dancy, 43, met on the set of the 2007 film Evening. The couple married in 2009 and welcomed their first child, a son named Cyrus in 2012.
