As expected, the British Vogue issue, celebrating ten years of Victoria Beckham, the designer, has been released online. This after a summer of gossip about the state of the Beckham marriage and the fate of the Beckham brand. Which, really, was put to rest several weeks ago as the Beckhams have been…

75th Venice International Film Festival - At Eternity's Gate - Premiere

Here are some photos from the Venice Film Festival premiere of At Eternity’s Gate. Tilda Swinton isn’t in the film, but she was already in Venice for Suspiria promotion, and I would guess that she’s probably friendly with Julian Schnabel, who directed it. Mostly I just want to talk about Tilda in this Schiaparelli gown. As it turns out, Kim Kardashian’s gloved Met Gala look was a harbinger of fashion disasters to come. Sleeve-gloves are the future. And they are hideous. Honestly, this whole look is terrible.

Naomi Watts in Dolce & Gabbana. I’m still sad that women wear D&G, but honestly, this is one of the better looks that Naomi has worn throughout this film festival. I think her stylist was on holiday or something, because Naomi’s fashion parade has been rough. This is fine though.

Chloë Sevigny in Chanel. While the dress isn’t my favorite thing, she looks great.

Bonus Mads Mikkelsen, looking like a snack, with his wife Hanne Jacobsen.

Here’s Natalie Portman in what I can only describe as a “ladies’ day cape.” This is from today – we’ll have red carpet photos of Portman tomorrow.

For all of the amazing photos of Laura Dern in fishing gear, or a dressed down Nicole Kidman hanging with fellow Aussies Hugh Jackman and her Joel Edgerton at the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend, it looks like nobody was having more fun than Melissa McCarthy. Her movie, Can You Ever Forgive…

We’ll never know why Anthony Bourdain killed himself in France in June. We’ll never know the entirety of what he was going through psychologically, emotionally, perhaps even physically. There isn’t always a “why.” There is rarely “a reason.” But as months have gone by, we have gotten more information about his final months on this earth. We’ve gotten more information about his relationship with Asia Argento, and we’ve gotten HER version of events regarding the then-teenager she allegedly raped. Argento claimed that her victim was basically blackmailing her and instead of going to the police, she talked to Bourdain about it and he decided to give hundreds of thousands of dollars to her victim. That would have happened just a few months before Bourdain’s suicide. Well, here’s something else I didn’t know: Asia was apparently featured in several episodes of Bourdain’s CNN show, Parts Unknown. CNN isn’t going to air those episodes now.

CNN is pulling all episodes of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” featuring Asia Argento, following allegations that the Italian actress and activist sexually assaulted an underage former co-star. The outspoken #MeToo activist, who was dating Bourdain at the time of his suicide earlier this year, appeared in two episodes of the show filmed in Rome and Southern Italy and directed another episode in Hong Kong. All three have been removed from CNN’s streaming service CNN Go, the network announced.

“In light of the recent news reports about Asia Argento, CNN will discontinue airing past episodes of ‘Parts Unknown’ that included her, until further notice,” a CNN spokesperson told Buzzfeed News on Saturday.

Last month, the New York Times reported that Argento paid former child actor Jimmy Bennett $380,000 in hush money after he accused her of sexually assaulting him when he was 17 and she was 37. Argento staunchly denied “any sexual relationship” with Bennett, but acknowledged the payment – claiming her former beau Bourdain “personally undertook to help Bennett economically” fearing the bad press. But text messages leaked to the press allegedly show Argento admitting to having sex with Bennett when he was underage, alongside a photo that appears to show the pair shirtless in bed together.

[From Page Six]

What’s better, to completely refuse to air those episodes now or to air them and remind everyone that Asia Argento was likely a manipulative predator and that Bourdain couldn’t see it? I don’t know. It makes me sad either way. I think CNN is probably making the right decision to completely blank on anything having to do with Argento. But it won’t stop the questions about what she told Bourdain versus what really happened, and why.

It’s been a summer of drama for the Beckham family, and I’m still not sure why. It started in June, with internet rumors going into overdrive about an imminent divorce announcement from Victoria and David Beckham. Nothing happened, and their spokesperson said plainly that they’re not getting a divorce. Posh and David made a big show of “unity,” which always looked rather forced, especially for David. Reportedly, David is the one who is bored of the marriage and already building his own separate single-ish life for himself in Miami.

So why even stay together? For the sake of Victoria’s Vogue profile! That was really the report several months ago, that David wasn’t going to dump Victoria when they were so obviously playing happy-family in British Vogue. Just last month, the Daily Mail reported that David originally said “no” to appearing on the cover with Victoria, but he felt he had to appear on the cover because of all the divorce rumors. So… British Vogue just dropped their cover. And David isn’t on it – it’s just Victoria and the Beckham kids. It makes her look like a single mom, right? David is featured in one of the interior photos, but still, this cover absolutely makes it look like Proud Single Posh Is Building A Post-Divorce Life For Herself. Also: their dog is named Olive, just FYI.

Edward Enninful’s letter from the editor doesn’t address the rumor parade about the Beckhams’ marriage whatsoever. He just says that Victoria got the cover because of Victoria’s fashion line debuting at London Fashion Week for the first time, and Enninful also writes: “What has been obvious to me in getting to know them over the years is that beyond the paparazzi flashbulbs, masterful personal branding, social-media savvy, and fashion and sporting prowess, lies the day-to-day business of family life.” Uh-huh.

Here’s the video British Vogue put together with Victoria. It’s cute. But why a “decade of elegance”? Posh has been elegant for TWO decades.

Oh, and apparently David Beckham wants us to know that he does appear on the cover with Victoria – but only the subscriber’s cover.

Beyond the paparazzi flashbulbs, masterful personal branding, social-media savvy, and fashion and sporting prowess, lies the day-to-day business of family life. And the Beckhams are just like any normal family unit – water pistols and all. Geoffrey Owens

I wasn’t going to write about this at first because I felt so bad for what was happening around Geoffrey Owens. Some may remember Geoffrey Owens for his role of Elvin on The Cosby Show, and he’s been a working character for literally decades, showing up in small parts in TV shows and movies and working in small theater projects and more. But acting work comes and goes, and many “working actors” still need side jobs to support themselves and their families. So Geoffrey Owens works at Trader Joe’s. Fox News wrote a story about how funny it was that this actor worked an hourly job at Trader Joe’s – it was a blatant attempt to humiliate him and job-shame him.

Nearly 60 percent of Americans are hourly workers, and thousands of fans and fellow actors rallied to “Cosby Show” actor Geoffrey Owens’ defense after a tabloid headline “job shamed” his work as a Trader Joe’s cashier https://t.co/k1gTJTDtkA pic.twitter.com/eSB87x2fXp

— CBS Evening News (@CBSEveningNews) September 4, 2018

What happened next was that actors and artists from around the world rallied around him. Actors went online and talked about the sometimes-crappy jobs they’ve taken in between acting gigs. People who know Geoffrey also pointed out that he’s a wonderful stage actor and that he teaches drama and theater too. The outpouring of love and respect for this man warmed my cold, dead heart, quite honestly. And if that wasn’t enough, Geoffrey appeared on Good Morning America, proudly wearing his Trader Joe’s badge and talking about how he’s getting some calls for work, but he still only wants to take parts that he’s right for. What a great guy.

Last year, Donald Glover mentioned on stage at Governors Ball that the next Childish Gambino project would be his last. He confirmed the news in January saying, “I like endings, I think they’re important to progress.” It appears that Donald Glover wants Childish Gambino’s ending to be one of provoca…

Kristen Bell recently shared a post dedicated to her husband’s 14th year of sobreity. Kristen and Dax Shepard have been married since 2013 and they have two daughters together: Lincoln, 5, and Delta, 3. (They’ve been together since 2007, got engaged in 2009 and waited to get married until same sex marriage was legal again.) These two spearheaded the “no kids policy” in 2014 which resulted in increased protections for children of celebrities baby. While they’ve shared embarrassing stories about their kids and traded on their family image to sell projects and products, they’ve never shared photos of their children’s faces on social media, which is admirable in a way. (Dax has shared a video of Lincoln riding a mini motorcycle and recently Kristen posted a photo walking Lincoln to kindergarten, shot from behind.) So it’s nice that Kristen posted some baby photos along with this message to Dax on his sobriety anniversary. Kristen used cute emojis to cover her children’s faces, which makes me think that her daughters are really happy and well behaved behind those cartoon faces. Here’s what Kristen wrote:

To the man mocked me in our wedding photos because I cried too many tears of joy, Who wore a baby Bjorn for 2 straight years to show his girls how to be as adventurous as possible, Who held our dear little shakey mann pup for 8 hrs straight on the day we had to put him down, I know how much you loved using. I know how much it got in your way. And I know, because I saw, how hard you worked to live without it. I will forever be in awe of your dedication, and the level of fierce moral inventory you perform on yourself, like an emotional surgery, every single night. You never fail to make amends, or say sorry when its needed. You are always available to guide me, and all of our friends, with open ears and tough love when its needed most. You have become the fertilizer in the garden of our life, encouraging everyone to grow. I’m so proud that you have never been ashamed of your story, but instead shared it widely, with the hope it might inspire someone else to become the best version of themselves. You have certainly inspired me to do so. I love you more than I ever thought I could love anyone, and I want you to know, I see you. I see how hard you work. You set an excellent example of being human. Happy 14th year sobriety birthday, @daxshepard. Xoxo

At least Kristen and Dax are somewhat consistent about protecting their children’s identities. I still think Kristen shouldn’t have told the pinworm story about her youngest daughter, which she shared multiple times in different contexts. As the mom of a teenager, I know her daughters will appreciate their privacy when they reach that age. They’ll also surely be mortified by many other things their parents do.

In terms of Dax’s sobriety, both of them have been open and honest about his past struggles with addiction. 14 years of sobriety is amazing. I do think Kristen is right that Dax has helped a lot of people. Look at Ben Affleck. It doesn’t matter if you have tens of millions in the bank, are an Oscar winner, or date Playboy models. Addiction will kick your ass.

Also, that story about having to put their dog down got to me.

I realize that the post Kristen Bell made to Instagram is mostly about her husband’s sobriety anniversary of 14 years and what a great father he is, but I wanted to make the title different because my takeaway is that they’re sharing personal-ish photos.
