Eva Longoria Gets Candid About Being a Working Mother: Being at Work Is ‘the Most Difficult Thing’

Eva Longoria, 43, attended the premiere of her new flick Dog Days on Sunday, August 5 in Century City, California. With her hubby Jose Baston, 50, by her side for the event, the new mother was radiant wearing an ivory dress but the actress admitted she was missing her new main squeeze, her 6-week old son Santiago.

The Desperate Housewives alum admitted, “I’ve been with him 24/7 since he was born. Being here at work, that’s probably the most difficult thing. Leaving him for four hours. I’m like, ‘What?!’”

Even though the actress was at a work event doesn’t mean she was off mom duty. Eva revealed she’s still on the clock, “I’ll be taking a break out of the movie to go and pump. He’s at home with his baby nurse, but, yeah, I’m going to be running back to him tonight!”

Longoria gave praise to her hubby Jose’s daddy skills. Baston has been around the block once or twice when it comes to babies, he is already a father to his four kids Natalia, 23, Mariana, 15, and twins Sebastian and Jose, 15 who he shares with his ex-wife Natalia Esperon.

He’s amazing. My husband’s been so amazing. And he’s just been — I mean, I don’t know how to do this alone,” gushed the new mom. “I’ve been so grateful that I have an amazing partner who supports me emotionally, taking the baby, helping with the baby, giving the baby a bath. I mean, you need this partnership. It takes a village.”

Don’t expect Longoria to give in to the pressure of Hollywood’s unrealistic expectations to bounce back so shortly after giving birth. The actress is being kind to herself and is realistic about what her body still needs to do for her newborn son.

“I am very grateful and thankful for my body for making this amazing human being. So immediately putting it through the ringer to get back into shape is not a priority. Every time I breastfeed, I say ‘thank you’ to my boobs. I’m like, ‘Thank you for giving me a child! Thank you, boobs, thank you, body, for doing all of this for my son.’”

Did you know Jeremy Renner and Harold Perrineau are best friends? They’ve been in a few things together, but I had no idea they were tight. I wonder if Jeremy Renner understands the ending of Lost. I still don’t get it.

Earlier this year, LeBron James gave a lengthy interview to ESPN about basketball, America, family, racism and politics. As always, Bron spoke his truth and talked about what a scary time it is to be African-American these days, especially with U BUM in office. For this interview, Laura Ingraham mocked him:

Even though it’s just a short clip, I couldn’t get through it. Whenever anyone asks about white privilege and the smug racist face of 2018, they should show that f–king clip of Laura F–king Ingraham calling LeBron ignorant and dumb and telling him to “shut up and dribble.” Well, Bron heard about it, because of course he did. And so he’s turning lemons into lemonade:

Back in February, LeBron James gave an interview to ESPN’s Cari Champion in which he discussed race, politics, being a public figure and his personal criticisms of President Trump. In response, Fox News pundit Laura Ingraham dedicated a segment to chiding James for discussing politics at all while a professional athlete. “It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball,” she said. “Keep the political comments to yourselves. … Shut up and dribble.” Six months later, that sentiment has been converted into the title of the NBA star’s upcoming three-part docuseries Shut Up and Dribble, which James and his production company SpringHill Entertainment will produce for Showtime.

In case that title seems like a mean moniker to give your own show, that’s sort of the point. According to Deadline, Shut Up and Dribble is specifically about exploring “the changing role of athletes in our fraught cultural and political environment, through the lens of the NBA.” And if the concept of telling someone to shut up and do a specific job that apparently precludes them from having a political opinion is giving you early 2000s Dixie Chicks vibes, that makes sense too. Ingraham published a book way back in 2006 entitled, you guessed it, Shut Up And Sing: How Elites from Hollywood, Politics and the Media Are Subverting America.

[From Vulture]

I love him. I love that he turned Laura Ingraham’s nasty, racist bitchery into the name of his docu-series. I love that he’s going to truly explore what it means to be a politically active black man in the public eye. What’s amazing is how few of the Laura Ingrahams of the world remember that there has ALWAYS been a legacy of athlete-activists and athlete-advocates, and they’ve always been remembered for their political legacies as well as their athletic legacies. Anyway… GO BRON! Incidentally, he didn’t say one f–king word about Donald Trump’s hateful, racist tweet. Bron just ignored him.

Eva Longoria sold the first photos of her son, Santiago with husband José “Pepe” Baston, to Hola! Magazine, the same publication she that had the exclusive photos of her wedding to. As for Santiago, aaaaaaw! he’s a little cutie and I love that he’s already mastered his “No photos right now” pose. Santiago was born on June 19th. My brother’s birthday is June 19 and he’s pretty cool so I assume Santiago will be too. Eva’s new movie, Dog Days, had its premiere the other night and both Eva and Pepe stepped out on the red carpet. This marked the first time Eva has been away from her baby boy since his birth, and it turned out to be more difficult that Eva anticipated.

Eva Longoria was missing her 6-week-old son, Santiago, on Sunday, August 5.

“I’ve been with him 24/7 since he was born,” she told Us Weekly at the premiere of her new film Dog Days in Century City, California. “Being here at work, that’s probably the most difficult thing. Leaving him for four hours. I’m like, ‘What?!’”

Since being a mom is a full-time job, Longoria, 43, noted that she had a breast pump in her purse. “I’ll be taking a break out of the movie to go and pump,” the Desperate Housewives alum told Us. “He’s at home with his baby nurse, but, yeah, I’m going to be running back to him tonight!”

The Overboard actress attended the event with her husband, José Baston — and praised his parenting skills.

“He’s amazing.

[From Us]

This isn’t the first time I’ve heard that parents struggle leaving their baby. I think the first time my husband and I went out without our kid, it was the same timeframe as Eva. I know we went to see Crash and IMDb says that opened early May. My son was born late March so it was likely somewhere in the in the six to eight week range. But that was just for a movie and the theater is almost walking distance from my house. I didn’t even have to pump like Eva did at her premiere. I never had an issue with stepping out for a few hours, I always enjoyed the break. But obviously all parents are different. I’m sure it will get easier for Eva. I like what she said about Pepe being her partner in all of this, especially the bit about his emotional support.

In case anyone wondered how Eva would be as a mom, wonder no more because her stand-in ‘doula’ is none other than Kerry Washington. And not just Kerry, Eva is surrounded by supportive women during this journey – long live Goddess Circles. Santiago is also helping his mom out as Eva said he’s a super easy baby. Eva told Us that she has enough on her plate so she’s not going to worry about getting her old figure back right away. Good. She looks amazing and should be relishing every moment.
