I’m still not entirely sure what happened between Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton last week. They announced their divorce one week ago exactly, and in 72 hours that followed, I had never seen such an across-the-board smear campaign. Blake’s side seemed to start the campaign, but Team Miranda got some punches in too. But by Thursday, everything came to a halt. The smear campaign seemed to be over. By Friday, there were no more reports about infidelity and Blake and Miranda were even awkwardly communicating with each other via Twitter:

Hey @mirandalambert can u believe there’s people who haven’t bought @ashleymonroe new album? Isn’t that shocking?!!

My guess – and this really is just a theory – is that someone on Blake’s team realized that smearing Miranda in the press wasn’t going to work out long-term because Blake wasn’t some angel during the marriage either. So détente happened and now Blake and Miranda are making nice publicly.

What else? TMZ says that Blake and Miranda are both still scheduled to headline the 2015 WE Fest in Minnesota, although they will be performing separately and on different nights. They probably won’t even run into each other. Blake also performed in Wisconsin a few days ago but he had to cut the concert short because of a huge storm system. Blake told the audience, “This isn’t my week.”
