Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have another grandchild!

The A-listers’ son, Chet Hanks, 26, took to Instagram Wednesday to announce the birth of his first child, a girl.

“I know I’ve been not that active on the ‘Gram lately because I’ve been figuring out my life, which is what we’re all doing, and social media’s all bulls–t anyway,” he shared in the clip. “With that being said, I want to share something today because it’s about to be shared anyway in the press, which is the fact that I have a daughter. I do have a daughter. She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

The rapper credited his baby with helping him to get clean and sober.

“She’s the reason why I turned my life around and got sober. I’ve been sober for over a year and a half from everything,” he continued. “I don’t share on her on Instagram. I don’t post her on Instagram because her privacy is sacred to me. She is sacred to me. She is not something to be posted. She’s something that I love, that’s changed my life, but the fact is she’s about to be shared with everybody so I wanted you to hear it from me…because I’m a real person.”

He added: “It hasn’t been easy making all my mistakes in public but I’m figuring it out. I’m doing the best that I can. Love you.”

The new dad captioned the video with a positive message as well.

“No disrespect to people that post their kids, I just I never wanted her to be dragged into the negativity surrounding my past,” he wrote.

Last year, Chet opened up about his struggles with substance abuse in another social media video.

“Hey I just want to say, I know, like, my name’s been in the media about me like, going missing or getting kidnapped or something…I’ve been in rehab,” he said. “I’ve been trying to get my s–t together and I’m doing pretty damn good, you know what I’m saying? I just had to really take a look at myself and my life and the way s–t was going and all the crazy, stupid s–t I was doing and just finally admit to myself that it wasn’t working, and I had to try something new and that thing was to not do any drugs or alcohol.”

This is the third grandchild for Chet’s famous parents.

The Forrest Gump actor, 60, and the Runaway Bride actress, 60, are already grandparents to Olivia, 5, and Charlotte, 3 — the daughters of Tom’s son, Dexter star Colin Hanks.
