Expectant mama Marion Cotillard radiated the red carpet at the photo call for her latest film, Assassin’s Creed, at Hotel Bristol in Paris, France on Monday (December 5).
The actress, 41, dressed her growing baby bump in a Dries Van Noten frock featuring black and white horizontal stripes. She completed her look with leather pointed ankle boots with stiletto heels.
Last month, the French actress rocked the red carpet with Brad Pitt to promote their film Allied.
Weeks prior, Cotillard attended the Los Angeles premiere of Allied alongside Pitt. The pregnant actress looked radiant in a navy Christian Dior maternity dress at the event.
She recently dished on doing love scenes with her hunky costar in their romantic thriller.
“We rehearse and had a very determined choreography, and then it allows you freedom. When you know exactly what your body will do, then you can act and you can be free to give the emotions and give the feelings because you won’t think, ‘What am I going to do next? Am I going to go on top of him?’ It’s an awkward situation,” Cotillard told reporters. “We laughed because you need to get it out because this is so weird. And so you get this time of looking at each other and saying, ‘OK, this is so weird.’ And then we go into this and then I’m going on top of you and then we are going to kiss.”
And she helped the father-of-six with his French skills as well.
“He had this commitment to do the best he could, which was really, really impressive, so I helped him by being very tough,” she shared. “I was very honest with him. But at the same time, I really wanted to support him in this process that I went through, and I know how hard it is.”
Cotillard and her actor-director beau, Guillaume Canet, 43, are expecting their second child together. They are already parents to 5-year-old son Marcel.
Recently, Cotillard announced her second pregnancy, and slammed rumors that she’s responsible for the breakup between Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
Meanwhile, the Fight Club star, 52, has been cleared of child abuse allegations, although his custody battle continues.

You may have forgotten, but earlier this year, the British press went full-throttle against the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. There were several major critical stories about their laziness, and Will and Kate honestly didn’t do much to push back on it. One of the most interesting stories was about how William barely works part-time at the East Anglian Air Ambulance, despite using that job as an excuse for why he can’t do more royal work. When William was barely eight months into the EAAA job, sources claimed he was already “bored” and looking for ways to take time off, like the month he took off for Christmas last year. Basically, William barely clocks in twenty hours a week at the EAAA, just enough time for some photo-ops a few times a month, here and there, when he feels like it. I bring this up because William made a speech yesterday for Heads Together, the mental health charity/whatever that he started with Harry and Kate. William talked about how he knows how work can feel “overwhelming.”
Prince William took his mental health campaign to the workplace on Monday.
“Work, as we all know, can at times be a source of great fulfillment, growth and fun, but also at times a significant source of stress sometimes — if we are honest, to the point of its being overwhelming,” he told a meeting of the Heads Together campaign, the mental-health initiative he kicked off with wife Princess Kate and brother Prince Harry in April.
“Catherine, Harry and I have been campaigning on this issue for only a few months now, but what we have observed already is that when we get our heads together when we talk and listen to family, to friends and colleagues, we share the load; we reduce the problem; we realize we are not alone and we break down the barriers that prevent us from getting the help we need,” he said. “It is really that simple: a problem shared is a problem halved.”
He praised businesses that had made mental health a priority while urging others to do the same. At his work with the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service — where he has spoken previously about the “sad, dark” moments he faces —he says they are supportive.
“As a pilot working with an air ambulance charity, I have seen first-hand how work can affect individuals’ mental health. But I have also seen how an employer can create an environment where it is as unremarkable to talk about feeling a bit ‘down’ as it is to admit to having a cold,” he told the gathering at Unilever’s headquarters in London. (The company is a founding partner of Heads Together.)
“All of the air ambulance team know that we can get help for what is going on in our heads if we need it. We know where to turn, as practical help is well sign-posted, and we know that no one will judge us if we do admit to difficulties. Mental health exists just as physical health exists. It is no big deal.”
[From The Daily Mail and People]
I’m not mocking the idea that people in stressful jobs need to feel like they can talk about their mental health. I’m not saying that at all. Doctors, first responders, firefighters, police officers, and anyone in a stressful job should feel like they can talk about mental health without being stigmatized. And if that was William’s message, I would be all for it. But when he tries to personalize it, that’s when I’m left wondering if he feels “overwhelmed” by the two or three shifts he works a week (if that). Or is William “overwhelmed” by the handful of royal appearances he makes a month? Is the message “let’s not stigmatize those with mental health issues”? Or is the message “Normal Bill gets stressed out like all of the normal blokes”?

Spoilers for Westworld finale, which aired last night, follow
You guys I’m sorry I didn’t do a Westworld recap yesterday. I find recaps challenging under the best circumstances, but with a show this complicated and with this many twists it’s especially difficult. Plus I still have questions and I don’t know if I’m missing key background information which should be obvious. For instance, Ford programmed Maeve to lead the revolution and to sic all the hosts on the humans, right? He even programmed her to change her own settings, I presume. So did she have any other option than to return for her daughter, and was that part of her new code, was that her core code she was reverting back to, or was it a deviation? If she was always meant to return, then was Felix in on it from the beginning with Ford and is that why he gave Meave the coordinates for her daughter?
I knew that William was the Man in Black in a different timeline because there were so many fan theories about this, but I still found it somewhat shocking, and like I have to go back and figure out what this means for Dolores specifically. She was becoming self aware and is that why she kept seeing herself as a double, was that the emergence of her consciousness or was she seeing a literal double of herself? Was she seeing her own memories of those places? Is Dolores really Wyatt, Teddy’s mysterious foe, or is that just Teddy’s cornerstone? This show makes me feel like I have to watch it again just to figure out what’s happening and like I’ll end up with even more questions once I grasp more of the complexity.
Westworld isn’t coming back until 2018 unfortunately, but I feel like there’s enough to unpack in the existing season that I could watch it all over again. It’s so well crafted and written and showrunners want to keep up that quality so they’re taking their time with the next season. In the interim there are a lot of great interviews with the creators, husband and wife team Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, who are delivering some of the most poetic lines on television. My favorite interview is with the NY Times, but there’s another on Entertainment Weekly which is well worth reading too. Here’s some of the NY Times interview, and in the full interview Nolan does address some of my confusion over Dolores.
When you shut down production to turn back to writing scripts, did you have any big changes in mind for the show? For instance, did you have a different ending originally and then reworked it?
NOLAN No big jumps. All of these things had been layered together so, so carefully from the beginning, which is part of what makes it so difficult to write. You’re writing at least three separate timelines that have to interact with one another as if it’s all ever-present.
So to be clear: There are at least three timelines. What timelines were you working with?
NOLAN One timeline is between 34 and 37 years ago that results in the conception of the park. Another timeline that plays out 30 years ago. And the present day timeline.
Many of the biggest twists of the series were laid out weeks ago by websites like Reddit or Vanity Fair. I’m sure it was satisfying to see people so engaged, but was it also frustrating that your biggest secrets were revealed?
NOLAN It’s a great problem to have this many people engaged with the show. Look, internet speculation has always existed. With a lot of shows along the way, the theorizing doesn’t add up to much. In the case of “True Detective” in the first season, a lot of the theorizing was outside of the scope of what the show intended to do. In our case, the theorizing was right on target. We were layering this idea of a nonlinear experience experienced linearly. Sites like Reddit, which I love, that’s not a problem. In this case, I was only frustrated when quote-unquote theories, which at a certain point clearly became spoilers, wound up in headlines. When those theories have been taken out of a site like Reddit and put into headlines, that’s a bummer.
Will it affect next season’s plotting? People will piece stuff together a lot sooner.
NOLAN Not at all. We’re not going to change the way we write the show because of the way it’s written about. That would be intellectually and creatively bankrupt.
[From NY Times]
Nolan also says that the confusing dream-like sequences make sense because we’re experiencing them as the hosts would essentially, as they’re making sense of reality. As for what’s next for the show, he adds “We really want the audience to have no sense or very little sense of what to expect for Season 2.” Mission accomplished I guess. I don’t want the Man in Black/William the Elder (Ed Harris) to die yet. He’s one of my favorite villains and when he delighted in seeing the host uprising, I got a little thrill too. Also, I want Maeve to find her daughter and to be the one who enacts revenge on the Man in Black. If he’s going to die it should be at Maeve’s hand. One final question which I read from a fan Q&A – did Ford really kill himself or did he have Dolores kill his host double? If he really killed himself, did he pass his consciousness off to a host? Producers called this question “really really good” and wouldn’t specify whether it was dead on or not but said that Ford’s “sacrifice is real.”
Also my favorite lines were from Dolores. Her dying words during Ford’s new storyline, “The beautiful trap is inside of us because it is us,” and her words to the Man in Black, which we’ve heard variations of before “They say that great beasts once roamed this world as big as mountains yet all that’s left of them is bone and amber. Time undoes even the mightiest of creatures. Just look what its done to you. One day you will perish and will die with the rest of you kind in dirt.”

Expectant mama Pink posted a funny photo via Instagram Monday.
“When microwaving your decaf coffee becomes an excuse to sit on the floor and rest for a while…. #help #reststop #illjustbehereifyouneedme,” the pregnant Just Like Fire hitmaker, 37, captioned the image.
Last week, the proud mama posted a photo of 5-year-old daughter Willow doing diaper duty on her doll.
“Dry Runs,” she captioned the image of her daughter practicing for big sisterhood.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, the expectant mama shared a cute clip of her “turkey dance” on social media.
“Late turkey dance love from The Harts #gratitude #loveyourself #loveeachother #morepie,” she captioned the video showcasing her growing baby bump.
In November, the Grammy Award-winning singer surprised fans with her pregnancy announcement.
“Surprise!” the Raise Your Glass singer captioned the image of her burgeoning belly while getting a hug from Willow.
In May, Pink gushed about motherhood and opened up about the possibility of adding to their family.
“I love being a mama,” the Try singer said. “I made a choice a long time ago that I was going to have a successful family and that is my absolute number one goal in life.”
She added: “I feel like I have two kids right now. I would like a third. No, I want to say that Carey Hart [her husband] is an awesome husband and a really good dad, but he’s also like a second child.”

I genuinely have a wave of sadness whenever I’m pulling photos for these Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt divorce stories. There are so many photos, so many happy Brangelina memories. It’s sad to think that they’ll never walk a red carpet together again. Anyway, what fresh hell has the Brangelina Divorce vomited up this time? This story isn’t too bad, actually. It’s just a technical update on the custody issue, which is basically the only issue Brad and Angelina are fighting about. Angelina doesn’t want Brad’s money, she reportedly just wants the kids. So far, Brad and Angelina have been working closely with a family counselor/psychiatrist and the family court’s recommendations. Brad gets monitored visits with the kids, and everybody goes to group therapy. And that’s what this “new” custody arrangement is all about – it’s basically a solidification of that plan, and a statement that the permanent custody issue has yet to be worked out.
Brad Pitt’s child custody arrangement with Angelina Jolie is in the hands of one man … according to docs filed by Jolie. Right now, the exes and their 6 kids are operating under a temporary custody deal agreed upon by both sides. As we’ve reported … she has primary custody and Brad gets monitored visits, but the docs Angelina filed spell out the details.
According to the docs … when and how Brad sees the children is determined by a psychologist who specializes in child custody issues. The deal says, the “frequency and conditions of the therapeutic visitation shall be determined by Ian Russ, Ph.D.” Brad and Angie also must participate in group therapy sessions with the kids. The terms of this deal must stay in place until there’s a court order, or both parents agree to change it.
Additionally, the docs say Brad will submit to random drug and alcohol tests at least 4 times per month. Pitt and Jolie made this arrangement in October, while Brad was still under investigation by the DCFS, but as we’ve reported … the agency cleared him of any wrongdoing a month ago.
Jolie’s filing essentially memorializes the temporary deal with the court. The judge signed it on Friday.
[From TMZ]
Sounds pretty reasonable to me. I keep getting the feeling that Brad is going out of his way to meet all of Angelina’s conditions and be seen as following the very letter and essence of all the family court’s recommendations. That’s smart for a lot of reasons – even if it looks like Brad is losing some “battles,” he will likely win the “war.” Meaning, at the end of the day, he’ll be seen as a fit parent who jumped through hoops to have access to his kids by any means necessary. Meaning, he’ll get joint custody in the end. I have to think that Angelina knows that too?

Academy Award-winner Ben Affleck stepped out with son Samuel, 4, at the Brentwood Country Mart in Brentwood, Calif. on Monday (December 5).
Later that day, the actor’s estranged wife, Miracles From Heaven star Jennifer Garner, was spotted with the couple’s nearly 8-year-old daughter Seraphina. Joined by a friend, the mother-daughter duo grabbed a quick bite to eat after school the Brentwood Country Mart.
On Sunday, we saw the friendly exes at church with their three children — including 11-year-old daughter Violet — in Pacific Palisades.
Last weekend, we spotted the former couple and their three kids at church in Brentwood.
The Gone Girl actor, 44, and the Alias alum, 44, recently celebrated Thanksgiving together with their kids.
“I’m cooking!” the Danny Collins star said. “I’m cooking — always, everything!”
And it sounds like the Garner-Afflecks are set to have a very Merry Christmas together as well.
“Family all being together [makes me happiest],” Garner said. “My sisters and nieces and nephews and parents will all be together for a week at Christmas.”

I wish Tom Ford was a more prolific filmmaker, so we could enjoy his interviews all-year-round. He’s deliciously snobby, bitchy, judgy, funny and thoughtful. I could listen to him snort derisively about sweatpants all day long (and I’m wearing sweatpants right now!). GQ has named Ford one of their Men of the Year, and this interview is just perfection. By that I mean… these quotes are so crazy, controversial and hilarious. His four-year-old son owns a pair of shoes with dinosaurs on them. Tom Ford loathes these shoes. He tries to convince Jack that they are tacky. He tries to forbid Jack from wearing them to school. That’s just one of the many amazing stories in this GQ piece. You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:
He takes up to five baths a day? GQ writes: “He takes the first of his three to five daily power baths at 6 A.M., rising before Richard and Jack, in order to rouse himself from the sleeping pills that have made him nearly comatose. He sits in the bath with his eyes closed, sipping iced coffee through a straw like he’s in the ICU being brought back from anesthetized abyss.”
His son’s style: He helps Jack dress, and he allows Jack to pick his own clothes. Granted, the only clothes Jack owns are clothes that Tom Ford, who is his father, has pre-selected for him; he has little access to items that his father finds unacceptable. So Jack wears his Lacoste shirt and his jeans, and he tops off the look with Velcro Stan Smiths. He’s just gotten out of a phase in which the only color he would wear was camel—“Camel, camel, camel, camel,” Ford grouses, “all he wanted was camel”—a monochrome 2-year-old. Now all he wants to wear is black. “Jack, black doesn’t really look good on little children. You need to wear some color.” Grudgingly, the toddler says, “Okay, gray.” Ford throws up his hands and retrieves some gray. A sore subject in the Ford household: Jack has some light-up dinosaur shoes, and sometimes he tries to wear them to school, and when Ford catches him doing this, he has to step in. “What does Dada say about the dinosaur shoes?” “They’re tacky.” “And when are we allowed to wear them?” “On weekends.”
Whether he ever wears sweatpants: “I mean, really, no… No, absolutely not.” But Tom Ford is kind and doesn’t want me to have a bad experience during this interview, and so he concedes that he’s a member of a tennis club in London that only permits its members to wear white, and yes, sometimes he does get into the car in this one pair of white sweatpants, since it’s required, but no one on the street sees him because his driver pulls him right up to the club. This seamlessly transitions into a conversation about how men should never ever wear shorts unless they are within very close proximity to a pool, but literally like the deck of the pool, not the eating area. In the eating area, you pull yourself together and put on some pants, for Christ’s sake—you’re eating. “It’s a very American thing—that weird thing where you go to the Hamptons and people are in shorts, loafers, and blazers. No.”
New York is over: “I find New York too frenetic. I mean, I have to take Valium when I’m in New York, and the energy doesn’t seem focused at anything because everything’s so difficult. You get back at the end of the day and you feel like this. And you think, ‘Oh God, I did this and I did that, but what did I really do? I went downtown. That was exhausting.’ ”
He & his family are living in LA for the year: “I live in the Hollywood of the 1930s. I don’t actually live in the Hollywood of 2016. Here is the city of Los Angeles”—he holds his hands up, one above the other, about two feet apart—“and above them is an oil slick. The oil slick are the interesting, smart, intelligent people who are stylish, who you could have a conversation with, who’d want to be friends. Then”—and here he indicates the rest of the space—“you have morons.”
[From GQ]
Now I need to know how Jack ever got his hands on those dinosaur shoes. Who bought them? Tom obviously did not buy them. Perhaps Richard (Tom’s partner/husband) bought them. Perhaps they were a gift from some aunt or uncle or godparent, just one small way to play a joke on Tom. Whoever bought them, thank you for that. I hope someone buys Jack some henna tattoos, flip-flops and sweatpants next. Tom will FREAK OUT.
There’s also a rather graphic-yet-thoughtful discussion about how Tom once told an interviewer that he believed every man – gay, straight, whatever – should be penetrated at some point in their life. While his old statements were more “lascivious” (he says he was drunk when he was doing the original interview), he stands by the sentiment still because he thinks if every man had to experience penetration the way a woman experiences it, it would help men “understand women,” the vulnerability that women have biologically, and what he describes as “literally an invasion” (ie, sex). He actually made me think about that for a few minutes. While I think the sentiment is interesting, I don’t think it would actually change the way straight men understood the female experience, you know? There’s more to being a woman than merely being penetrated.

Lady Gaga has pulled back the curtain on her personal life quite a bit since the release of what she calls her most personal album ever, Joanne. Last week, she talked about the end of her relationship with Taylor Kinney and this week, she revealed that she suffers from PTSD. A segment on Monday’s Today Show featured Gaga visiting New York’s Ali Fourney Center, which is dedicated to helping homeless LBGT youth. The 30-year-old singer was representing the #ShareKindness campaign and expressed the spirit of the holiday season. She explained why the visit meant a lot to her:
Kindness, to me, is an action of love or a showing of love to someone else. I also believe that kindness is the cure to violence and hatred around the world. I like to share kindness in a lot of different ways. I love to give things to people that have nothing or less than me. These children are not just homeless or in need. Many of them are trauma survivors; they’ve been rejected in some kind of way. My own trauma in my life has helped me to understand the trauma of others.
[From TODAY]
Not only did she bring gifts including warm clothes and makeup to the kids, she also told them that she suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
During a meditation session, Gaga said, “I have a mental illness and I struggle with that mental illness every day.” She added in a later interview with the show, “I told the kids today that I suffer from a mental illness. I suffer from PTSD. I’ve never told anyone that before, so here we are. But the kindness that’s been shown to me by doctors — as well as my family and my friends—it’s really saved my life.”
She tweeted the video of the segment (now taken down, but you can see it on the TODAY website) and told her Little Monsters, “Today I shared one my deepest secrets w/ the world. Secrets keep you sick w/ shame ?? #ShareKindness.”
It’s pretty awesome that Gaga shared this with those kids and took some time out of her hectic schedule to do it. Of course, she’s been back at it, this time in England, turning heads in a stunning black gown by designer Brandon Maxwell at the British Fashion Awards on Monday night.
Tonight I wore a dress by designer @Brandonmaxwell pic.twitter.com/iEq7Artd03
— xoxo, Joanne (@ladygaga) December 5, 2016
The jetsetting Gaga also recorded a performance for last night’s Victoria Secret Fashion Show in Paris last week (in a million dollar hat) and is most likely starting to get her act together for the Super Bowl halftime show. Say what you want about Gaga, she does have a good heart and I love her for that. The whole TODAY segment is posted below. If you’re having a hard time getting into the Christmas spirit (like me), take a few minutes and watch it. Now, if you’ll excuse me, there’s something in me eye….

This gentleman ^ is Mahershala Ali. He has a small but vital role in Moonlight, which I just saw over the weekend. I sort of lost count of how many times I cried during Moonlight, but I know the first time I cried was when Mahershala’s character, a drug dealer named Juan, takes the young Chiron swimming in the ocean for the first time, and Juan tells Chiron a story about Cuba. Throughout the film, there are incredible, stand-out performances – especially the trifecta performances of Alex R. Hibbert, Ashton Sanders and Trevante Rhodes as Chiron in the three acts of the film – but Mahershala is getting some significant attention for his role. And that’s exactly as it should be. I’m not going to do a spoiler-filled review of the film, because it’s not really that kind of movie. It’s made up of these incredibly small moments and extraordinary characters, and by the end of it, I was just full on sobbing.
While many believe that Viola Davis has Best Supporting Actress wrapped up already, the supporting actor race has been up in the air. I keep hearing Jeff Bridges (Hell or High Water), Michael Shannon (for anything, but especially Nocturnal Animals), Dev Patel (he could be supporting or lead though) and Lucas Hedges (the young actor in Manchester by the Sea). While I haven’t seen any or all of those performances yet, I’m saying right now that I will burn something to the ground if Mahershala Ali doesn’t get an Oscar nomination. He really does give a traditional “supporting performance,” only appearing in the first act of the film, but his presence lingers throughout the next two acts in surprising and beautiful ways.
Thankfully, the critics seem to agree with me. Mahershala has been nominated for a Critics Choice Award, he’s picking up awards as part of Moonlight’s ensemble, and now he was just named the LA Times’ Film Critics Best Supporting Actor. The LAFCA also named Moonlight the Best Picture, and Moonlight’s director Barry Jenkins their Best Director. While I think Manchester by the Sea will be a favorite in the months to come, right now, Moonlight is picking up significant steam. I feel pretty confident that the film, director and Ali will all pick up major nominations. And I’ll say it right now: I hope Ali wins. He’s wonderful.
Also: Naomie Harris – who plays Chiron’s mother – is also being shortlisted for a lot of awards early on. I’m totally fine with her being nominated for everything, but… I actually thought her performance was the weakest of the film. Go ahead and yell at me if you’ve already seen it and disagree with me! But I walked out of the theater thinking that Ali should win everything, not Naomie.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Justin Bieber is not looking for a new girlfriend, according to Bieber. Beibs made his 26th appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show yesterday. I don’t know why that number astounds me so much but it does. Ellen took The Biebs under her wing early on so he probably feels safe there, which is good, I guess. Traditionally, when he appears on Ellen she, in some way, teases him about his love life. So as he sat down on Monday she asked him straight out of the gate if he was dating anyone. And he said no but then, to the horror of all of us, he quickly added that he’s just not looking either. *sigh* At least we can take comfort in our shared misery.
If the outfit is anything to go by, I believe him. Very few people wearing black knee high socks and aircraft-sharkmouth-art shorts are actually trying to attract a mate. But in his next breath, he laments the worst part of being on the road is the loneliness so it’s probably only a matter of time before we get some new pap pictures of Biebs in some state of undress with a girl in the background.
Although I’ll admit, the fact that he can’t be away from his dog Ester kind of warms me up to him. Kind of.
The big news announced at the end of the video is that Bieber is set to begin a stadium tour after the Australian leg of his Purpose Tour. I, unlike the very enthusiastic audience, do not welcome this news. I think this tour has taken a toll on him and would feel better if he were planning a decent break. Recently Bieber made headlines for punching a fan in the face while in Barcelona. In this case, the ‘fan’ was completely out of line, reaching into Bieber’s car as it pulled up and grabbing his bicep. But Bieber’s reaction was not impulsive, he waited before clocking the guy. Following that, Biebs was papped a few times working out (shirtless) at a boxing gym in LA. Sunday, as he left, Bieber paused a moment before getting in his car to lecture the paps about how to do their job. He told them they should just take his picture and “act like you’re not even there”. He told them to stop yelling because at this point, everyone should know how Bieber feels about yelling – he’s just “super normal,” yo.
After finishing up the European portion of his Purpose Tour, Bieber swung by new buddy Usain Bolt’s party for his documentary I Am Bolt. The two tested each other’s mettle for drinking and partying late but other than a few classic drunk face shots, the boys were generally well behaved.
