During a Wednesday appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman opened up about her second pregnancy.
The Jackie star – who is already mom to son Aleph, 5, with husband Benjamin Millepied – said her pregnancy cravings are totally different this time around.
“With [Aleph], it was very, like, I wanted cream puffs or any dessert with cream in it or just whipped cream straight,” she shared. “And this time it’s healthy, like pineapple, cucumbers, burritos, which are maybe less healthy.”
The Black Swan star seems to be opting for a surprise delivery.
“I really don’t know the gender,” Portman said, “even though we’re referring to it as a [her].”
But DeGeneres seems pretty sure. “It is a girl. You want to make a bet?” DeGeneres asked, and Portman replied, “It seems like it would be in my favor, since last time you were so, so wrong.”
The pair shook on it, and while DeGeneres suggested betting $1,000, Portman said, “I was thinking pizza or burritos.” In the end, they agreed the winner would fork over $1,000 and purchase a pizza.
While the expectant mama didn’t suggest any potential baby names, she did explain the significance behind her son’s moniker.
“It’s the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet,” she shared. “It’s not really a name in Hebrew usually, but it has a lot of mystical, symbolic meanings, like humility, strength.”
