Chris Pratt

Chris Pratt covers the July issue of Men’s Health UK to promote Jurassic World. He discusses his body makeover again. Are you tired of hearing about this subject yet? I’m not. Journalists love to ask actresses how they shed baby weight, and Pratt doesn’t seem to mind discussing his own weight struggles. Besides, this is a health and fitness magazine, so it comes with the territory. The magazine’s readers want to hear about how he went from 300 pounds to being ripped. Pratt’s not being obnoxious about his bod. We’re not seeing him preening, shirtless and glistening, like Joe Manganiello does in these features.

Pratt recently discussed the myth of the “happy plump man“ and how he associated being overweight with being funny (like one of his idols, Chris Farley). He covers that territory more here. He also elaborates on his previous claims that losing weight gave him more energy. Pratt reveals the seriousness of other health issues he was suffering. Considering how he ate up to 4 cheeseburgers in one sitting, I can see why he felt so awful inside:

Why he was unhappy: “I was impotent, fatigued, emotionally depressed. I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit.”

His “happy plump man” complex: “I saw myself in an episode [of Parks and Rec] and in the matter of two moments very close together, I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting fat.’ And then almost immediately I did something else and I thought, ‘Holy crap, I’ve never seen myself funnier.’ And I put the two together. I said to the creators that I wanted to get fatter for the role. They loved it. I announced it to the whole cast, and then it became a bit of a game: how fat can I get and how fast can I get that fat. I would eat three or four cheeseburgers at every table read [of a script].”

His turning point: “I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy. That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again.’”

[From Men’s Health]

It makes sense that Pratt would make a final turn in perspective after seeing himself onscreen in ZDT. Marvel added to the pressure by sending a not-so-subtle fat inspector to Pratt’s home to check on his progress. That had to be rough. Even though Pratt wanted to lose the weight, having someone check on him must have been an indignity. Or perhaps he saw it as an added incentive, I don’t know. Pratt holds a rather unique male perspective on a topic that many women can identify with. It would be annoying if he humblebragged, but he’s telling it straight. And Pratt looks good.

The second part of Megyn Kelly’s exclusive interview with the Duggars airs tonight on Fox News at 9 pm. I’m already prepared to hate-watch it and yes, I’ll probably be live-tweeting it too, like I did on Wednesday night. Tonight’s interview will mostly be with Jessa and Jill Duggar, the two oldest (that we know of) victims of Josh Duggar’s molestation. As I said yesterday, Jessa and Jill “outed” themselves as Josh’s victims when they signed on to this Fox News interview – before that moment, media outlets had shown restraint in not getting into specifics about the victims, and In Touch Weekly had redacted their names in their reporting. Ahead of the interview airing tonight, Megyn Kelly sat down with Extra to give a preview of her exclusive (you can see the video here). Kelly says that Jill and Jessa have forgiven Josh:

Megyn on Jill & Jessa’s state of mind: “They started off as your normal 22, 24-year-old girls, a little bubbly, kinda giggly, and then when we did get into it the tears started to flow… imagine how painful that would be… they never chose to have this piece of their family story put out there, and I think they are struggling with what people are assuming about their family and about what happened to them.”

Whether Megyn thinks they have forgiven their brother: “I do, yeah I do. They told me that. They also talked about the journey from the pain to the forgiveness, and it was not without some bumps in the road. All of the children went through counseling, all of them, not just Josh, not just the victims, all of them went through licensed therapist counseling to try to get through what happened.”

Megyn hopes to talk to Josh: “Of course, I would love to talk to Josh, he’s really the best one to talk about what happened and why, and where he is today. I think that is what a lot of people are wondering. Does this make him a child molester? Do you have to worry about him on an ongoing basis? He has three young children and one on the way. He’s around a lot of young children.”

[From Extra]

Props to Megyn for ending that interview on such a dark, hard note. That’s been largely unspoken in all of these stories – Josh is a parent with three young children (and another on the way). It’s so sick and horrific to even think about what the situation could be.

As for Jessa and Jill and their forgiveness… it feels like they’ve been brainwashed over a lifetime of crappy parenting and the “normalization” of terrible behavior from their parents and their brother. As I said in the earlier In Touch post, it feels like there’s still another shoe to drop. I don’t believe the family – especially the victims of Josh’s criminal acts – were given the psychological support needed to deal with everything appropriately. I believe – given the ongoing reporting and the pick-the-lie-you-want-to-believe stories coming from the Duggars – that the family likely went into some hokey super-religious counseling in which the victims were blamed for somehow causing the abuse.

Terri Seymour’s Stroll With Coco

Terri Seymour & Her Daughter Out Shopping At Maxfield

New mom Terri Seymour stepped out with daughter Coco Wendy, nearly 3 months, on Thursday (June 4). The Extra host, 40, pushed her newborn in the stroller while shopping at Maxfield in West Hollywood, Calif.

Terri recently opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her “easy adjustment” into new motherhood.

“Because she only cries when she’s hungry, and she sleeps so well at nighttime, it’s been, dare I say, an easy adjustment,” Terri said of motherhood. “It’s definitely hard work, but she’s so good. It hasn’t been easy, but it definitely helps that she’s such a good baby.”

She added: “She’s wonderful and a lovely baby. I’m very lucky – she’s such a good baby. It’s been amazing.”

The new mom went on to talk about the joys of breastfeeding.

“I am breastfeeding, which I love,” she shared. “It’s our special time together and I absolutely love it. She’s a big baby – she was 9 lbs. when she was born – and she eats a lot. As long as she’s eating, she’s happy. I breastfeed her every 2 hours, and she love it. She eats really well — touch wood because there’s no problems there either.”

Kevin Federline Leaving A Bank In Calabasas

View image | gettyimages.com

After Britney had her very public meltdown in 2008, her ex Kevin Federline stepped up for their young sons in a way that almost no one expected. K-Fed was a former backup dancer and wannabe rapper who used to brag about his expensive toys. When Britney went under a conservatorship he dropped the douchebag persona and become a devoted father. What’s more is that Federline has barely done any press. He didn’t talk about Britney at a time when he could have been making a lot of money selling stories. Of course at that time K-Fed was making bank from custody payments, which might have had nondisclosure agreements attached, but he still deserves credit.

For some reason, maybe to promote his DJing, Federline did an interview with US Magazine. He spoke highly of Britney and their time together. He also admitted it was hard to take over custody of his sons with Britney, now 9 and 8, and hinted that a lot went down that he’s not going to talk about. I do think Britney was doing some hard drugs and that explains why she freaked out so publicly, but if that’s the case Federline isn’t saying. Here’s some of what he told US, with more in the print edition.

How they first got together
We had an instant chemistry – and then it became a soap opera for the world. It surprised me how down-to-earth she was, with normal Southern values instilled by her parents – but also, obviously, not that innocent… I have so many great memories that outweigh the bad.

Their crazy lifestyle
Having 50 paparazzi suddenly in my face was a huge eye-opener. Our life was running at 150,000 miles per hour. I soaked up as much of the lifestyle as I could. I’d walk into a club and get a table worth $15,000 a night with unlimited free drinking. To not have to worry about making my next car payment felt like a huge weight lifted off my soul. But everything got so crazy…

How they got married
Britney proposing to me on a plane three months after we met and getting married two months later was just us living in the moment. I really thought I’d spend the rest of my life with her… There were a few drastic things that went down, which I’ll never talk about, but overall we still had fun. So when she filed for divorce, I was completely caught off guard. Look, there are a million things I could say about her that would make huge headlines and cause a ton of drama, but for what? The truth is I loved her to death.

On Britney’s breakdown and him taking custody of the boys
It was extremely tough watching her go through a phase where she was clearly not OK right after the divorce. There’s a lot more I could have done to help. Taking full custody of the boys sucked the life out of me, but it was for them. I have to give Britney’s dad, Jamie, a lot of credit for saving her. He made it so I could actually deal with her again.

[From US Weekly, print edition, June 15, 2015]

Federline remarried, to former professional volleyball player and special ed teacher Victoria Prince, in 2013. He has two children with Prince, daughters Jordan, four, and Peyton, one. Federline also has two children from his former relationship with Shar Jackson, daughter Kori, 12, and son Kaleb, 9. So he’s been a busy guy.

I do wonder why he’s talking now, but maybe US waved some money at him. Federline promises that “no one will hear anything about my past out of my mouth again.” That sounds unlikely, logic-wise, but ok. He also says that things are great with Britney now and that they “are on the same page… we communicate on disciplining the kids and if they’re grounded here, they’re grounded there. She’s a completely different person.” That does seem to be the case.
