Tending to his all-important legal matters, Chris Brown made an appearance at the Criminal Courts in Los Angeles, California on Thursday (February 18).

Joined by his lawyer, Mark Geragos, the “Kiss Kiss” singer was dressed casually as he eased his way inside for a probation update hearing.

According to TMZ reports, Brown had performed 32 days of hard labor in Virginia, also having attended 17 of his 52 required domestic violence classes.

Making the judge happy with his compliance, Chris was granted an order permitting him to travel out of town between the dates of May 18 to June 27 for concert performances.

Chris Brown’s interview aired on Larry King Live last night where he explained that his relationship with Rihanna was much like Romeo and Juliet’s.

Brown showed up to the interview in a powder blue sweater and bow tie, telling King that after the incident with Rihanna occurred, it was the media that really drove them apart.

The two tried to spend time at Diddy’s mansion in Miami to work things out. During this time Brown interpreted the Romeo and Juliet metaphor, explaining, “It was sort of like Romeo and Juliet story, like both sides not wanting us to kind of have contact so we just got away.”

He also told King that during that time, which he says was the worst time of his life, he and Rihanna were able to rekindle their friendship.

“I’m pretty sure we can always be friends,” he said, “and I don’t know about our relationship, but I just know definitely that we ended as friends.”

He told over and over again that he loved Rihanna. “I’ve said countless times how sorry I am to Rihanna. I accepted full responsibility but it’s just one of those things I wish I could have relieved and just handled totally different.”

There were other moments that he wishes he could go back in time and change, such as the physical anger.

One police said that Brown pushed Rihanna last year and busted the windows of a car in a fit of rage just three weeks before hitting Rihanna.

And though he has a rocky past, Brown says, “I don’t think at the end of the day my career is over.”

Scolding Brown for his misdoings, the judge also is making him enroll in a community service program, Commonwealth Catholic Charities, for a 52 week domestic violence program.

With fines and fees totaling just over $5,000, the R&B singer will have a protective order forcing him to stay away from Rihanna for 5 years – as he’s also required to submit DNA samples as requested by authorities.

On a final note, TMZ reports tell that “the judge just said she is aware of the ‘chatter’ on the airwaves (talking about rumors that Brown has been in touch with Rihanna) – adding that she means business and will violate his probation if he dares violate the terms.”

The Chris Brown PR blitz continues.

The same weekend as pre-beating, post-coital Brown and Rihanna pics\ found their way online mysteriously, a friend took the opportunity to plug Chris’ new album.

“Chris is very focused,” says songwriter Robert Allen, who is working with Brown on his upcoming record, tentatively titled Graffiti. “He knows how to deal with whatever is going on and is willing to do what he has to do to please his fans.”

Hey, you gotta deal with whatever life throws at you. If peeps hate on you after you battered your girlfriend into a near-coma, you just gotta say f*%k that noise.

As a wise man once said: all the haters … they’s just haters.

Of Brown’s shifting musical style, Allen says “Chris is experimenting and trying a lot of different things. We’ve been making things really eclectic. The direction of this album is really fun and free spirited. It’s like a collage.”

Brown, who had kept a low profile for months, recently broke his silence in a pair of absurd YouTube videos, when he declared, “I ain’t a monster.”

“You want to go away so your audience can miss you some,” Allen says of why Brown has laid low. “But he’s so happy and ready for this next album to break through and make a big impact. He’s predicting this will be his biggest album.”

We’re predicting that he’s still the biggest tool around.
