I keep forgetting that Adam Driver is in Martin Scorsese’s Silence. That’s why Driver covers the new issue of Interview Mag, he’s promoting Scorsese’s Jesuit-priest passion project, which also stars Andrew Garfield and Liam Neeson. The trailer came out last week and I honestly couldn’t even work up the energy to watch it at the time. So let’s watch it together? Here goes.

Okay, so there you go. I’m sure people will “love” the film the same way they “loved” that DiCaprio bear-rape movie, which is to say that Silence will be called “important” and a “tour de force” and everyone who sees it will be really depressed but they’ll say that they like it and it deserves all the Oscars.

Anyway, back to Adam Driver and this Interview Mag cover story. I love the photos, but I love any photoshoot with a bathtub theme. The actual interview was conducted by Driver’s friend Noah Baumbach and quite honestly, half of the interview is just two friends talking endlessly about how they know each other and that party they once went too and it’s SO boring. Driver comes across as very Actor-y and slightly neurotic, but decent too. You can read the full piece here. Here’s the only interesting part:

DRIVER: I’m looking out my window … They’re always doing stuff for the holidays—Halloween’s a big one. Do they trick-or-treat in your building? One year, Joanne [Tucker, Driver’s wife] and I bought $100 worth of mini candies, thinking that all the kids in the neighborhood were going to come by—not thinking, obviously, that no one’s going to let f–king strangers up into our building. For some reason, we didn’t put that together. We had, like, four kids come by. [both laugh] This one princess took all the candies we had hand over fist. I actually f–king hate Halloween.

BAUMBACH: It must be cool to see all these kids dressed as Kylo Ren on Halloween.

DRIVER: Yeah. I was dropping my wife off outside our building and I saw this mom holding a lightsaber—like, my lightsaber—and scarily accurate. Like, life-size. And she was handling it like she’s handled it a million times. She was juggling four kids who were all running in different directions, and she had three different bags and this lightsaber. Suddenly, the things that are great about this job came into full focus.

I imagine that’s one of the coolest parts of being cast in a film or franchise with costumes and stuff, whether it’s a comic-book movie or the Star Wars franchise or whatever. It must be such a trip to see kids dressed up in your costume, or playing with your lightsaber. Anyway… Adam Driver is so jolie-laide. There are moments when I think he’s the sexiest thing ever and other times when I’m like “NOPE.” These photos are hot though.
