As we discussed this weekend, Donald Trump bragged about committing acts of sexual assault on a hot mic in 2005. What followed was one of the craziest weekends in American politics ever. GOP standard-bearers – who were completely fine with Trump’s misogyny, racism and stupidity up until this point – began fleeing the Trump Titanic in droves. But some of Trump’s loyal supporters stayed. And the new Trump talking point became “this is just how men talk to other men.” Because rape culture, amirite? And one of Trump’s loyal supporters is Jon Voight. Voight loathes Barack Obama and anything progressive/liberal. So this is how Voight explained the Trump debacle on his Twitter, with a bonus reference to Robert DeNiro’s amazing Trump takedown:

I am so ashamed of my fellow actor Bobby DeNiro’s rant against Donald Trump. What foul words he used against a presidential nominee who has worked harder then any other man I know in the past year and a half to get a good message to the American people.

I don’t know of too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years. Donald Trump’s words were not as damaging as Robert DeNiro’s ugly rant. Trump’s words did not hurt anyone. Can you imagine if any Republican said words like Robert DeNiro used – against Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama? All hell would break loose.

I am calling for all Trump supporters to express their outrage and anger against DeNiro and all of the Republican turncoats against Trump. Let Donald Trump know we are completely behind him, and may God give him the strength to continue his calling.

“Than” not “then.” Voight is right about one thing: if a Republican said that they’d like to punch Hillary Clinton in the face, all hell would break loose. Thank God Republicans have found a way around that conundrum by calling her a “c—nt” and “worthless bitch.” So much so that they even put those “slogans” on t-shirts. Donald Trump found a way around that conundrum by openly suggesting that HRC’s Secret Service step down so we could see “what happens.” But no, that’s not as bad as Robert DeNiro!

As for Voight’s argument that he doesn’t know of “too many men who haven’t expressed some sort of similar sexual terms toward women, especially in their younger years”… here’s my question to all of the men expressing variations of that argument: do you not realize that’s a problem? Do you never stop and think, “Oh, maybe it shouldn’t be like that?” And Trump wasn’t in his “younger years” when he said that – he was a spry and deplorable 59 years old. As for “Donald Trump’s words were not as damaging as Robert DeNiro’s ugly rant. Trump’s words did not hurt anyone.” ARE YOU JOKING? The Trump Tape needed a trigger warning. It was the embodiment of rape culture. The words he spoke were physically revolting because he was BRAGGING ABOUT ASSAULT. He actually admitted to “grabbing them by the p-ssy.” But poor Jon Voight, Bob DeNiro’s words hurt his fee-fees.
