Reality celebrity turned makeup maven Kylie Jenner just expanded her cosmetic empire with the introduction of her own line of eye shadows, and she took to the streets of Los Angeles too bestow the new kits upon some of her biggest fans.

Kylie announced the new line, called Kyshadow, because of course it is, on her website. In the video, she says that she’s “dreamed of this moment for way too long” and claims the new product line is “literally my baby.” The video also features a makeup tutorial using the new eye shadows by artist Ariel Tejada. Who has the time to do this elaborate makeup? I’m lucky if I have 15 minutes to put my face on in the morning. But I’ll grudgingly admit that it’s a nice look.

The Bronze Palette has nine shades, which I am assuming are trying to give Urban Decay’s popular Naked palettes a run for their money. They obviously include a bronze, but there’s also gold, taupe, various shades of brown and a matte black. They’re nice, I suppose, but I fail to see anything earth-shattering about them. At least they’re better than her blue lip kits. The Bronze Palette went on sale on her website last night at 6pm EST and is already (inexplicably) sold out.

In order to promote the release of the eye shadow, Kylie made a series of Snapchat videos, where, in her words, “I did some research of some of the biggest Kylie Cosmetics supporters in L.A. and I’m going around and hand-delivering my eye shadow palettes before they come out.” The encounters, which were definitely not staged, saw Kylie surprising her fans at their homes and workplaces, and there was some fangirl fawning, hugs and even tears of joy as Kylie channeled her inner Oprah.

At the end of the day, Kylie promised more surprises and even more eye shadow collections, saying, “I’m so glad you guys love my eye shadow palette. It was really important for me to release the Bronze Palette first.” She also promised there were more palettes to come, stating, “I’m currently working on my fourth palette so I’m really excited for you guys to see those.”

I don’t get this fanaticism for this overpriced makeup. Of course, I am addicted to NYX since their products were featured on RuPaul’s Drag Race. I love their affordable eye shadows and, hey, if the stuff is good enough for Pandora Boxx, it’s good enough for me.

throwback to when I spent the day learning how to make these eyeshadows for you guys ?
