On Sunday, Priyanka Chopra had a big bridal shower AT Tiffany’s in New York. Many of her girlfriends were there to celebrate, including Lupita Nyong’o and Kelly Ripa. People Magazine made a big deal about how Nick Jonas wasn’t there, and while I do think that’s notable, I also think… it’s quite common for the soon-to-be groom to miss the BRIDAL shower. The bridal shower is mostly about the bride and her friends. Priyanka posted photos on her Instagram, and it wouldn’t surprise me at all if this was some kind of sponcon for Tiffany’s.

The bridal shower is just a reminder that Priyanka and Nick really are going through with this wedding, even though some of us are still “?????” about them as a couple. Reportedly, their wedding will be in December, in India. Priyanka attended another event last night, and she was asked about what makes her relationship with Nick work, and how she knew he was The One. Her answer was… interesting.

“Truly this is what worked for me, he has to be someone who respects you. By that, I don’t mean makes coffee for you, not that. But someone who respects the hard work you put into your life. Who respects that if his work is important, so is yours. Or if he makes choices that are important to him, so is your opinion. That’s respect, and that’s incredible to have. Then everything is so easy because you give each other credit for your intelligence, you give each other the benefit of the doubt because you trust each other. There’s so much that comes out of that. I think don’t settle for less than that.”

I agree that no one should ever marry a guy who doesn’t respect your work, your job, your choices and your opinions. I also think Nick is that guy – he obviously worships Priyanka and respects her as a working woman. But I’m still left with a general feeling of “????”
