Prince Harry and Meghan Duchess of Sussex visit to Africa

Harry & Meghan: An African Journey airs tonight in the UK. ITV is still dropping exclusive clips from the documentary, which is interesting because it feels like everyone is already going to tune in. The two previous clips garnered so many headlines – Harry talking about the trauma he feels whenever he hears cameras clicking away, and how the press intrusions bring up the worst memories of his mother. The second clip of Meghan fighting back tears as she discussed how difficult the past year has been was something else though – her pain was palpable, and like all things involving Meghan, people had crazy-strong feelings about her words and her pain.

Part of the smear campaign against the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has been the not-so-subtle move to “exile” them somewhere. Those stories popped up in the final month of Meghan’s pregnancy. At first the stories were framed as “the Sussexes WANT to move to Africa for years.” But we soon learned that Project Exile-The-Sussexes was a plot being hatched by Prince William and the Kensington Palace team, something about how William is “preparing to be king” and he’s tired of the Sussexes being so… popular and work-ethic-y. While the Sussexes were on their 10-day tour in Africa, Harry was asked on-camera about a potential move to the continent:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are happy to be out in Africa — and plan to devote themselves to improving the continent. Harry told a British broadcaster that he feels “more like myself” in Africa, adding that Cape Town would be an “amazing place for us to be able to base ourselves,” the Sunday Times of London reported Saturday.

“The rest of our lives, especially our life’s work, will be predominantly focused on Africa, on conservation,” said the prince. “There’s a lot of things to be done. There’s a lot of problems here, but there’s huge potential for solutions.”

ITV actually released the full clip because, obviously, the half-quotes weren’t doing justice to Harry’s real answer. You can see the clip below – Harry wonders aloud where they would even base themselves if they were to move (however temporarily) to Africa, and he seems to shut down the idea of a permanent move, all while reiterating his love for the continent and his dream of devoting more time and energy to conservation work there. Again, if the Sussexes move to Africa, it will not be their f–king choice. It will be because they were forced into exile by Bratty Fake King William.

Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon and Olympia d'Arco-Zinneberg are married

I started looking through these wedding photos for two reasons: one, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were wedding guests and I was wondering “why” and “how” and two, I just like looking at wedding photos. The reason why Bea and Edo aren’t headlining this post is because the bride’s wedding gown was, in a word, FANTASTIC. Arguably the best wedding gown of the year. She was a very joyful looking bride too. Smug bride knew her dress was bangin’.

So who is this bride? Her Royal Highness Lady Duchess Rootintuttin Von Moneybags. No, I jest. Her name is Countess Olympia von und zu Arco-Zinneberg and you can just as easily replace all of those names with $$$$$$. She married Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon. Yes, of the NAPOLEON family. As opposed to the second cousin of Bubba Napoleon. Countess Olympia is the 31-year-old granddaughter of Robert, Archduke of Austria-Este. Prince Jean-Christophe Napoléon is… well, his Wiki page tries to explain it. He’s descended from Napoleon Bonaparte’s younger brother. Basically, the bride and groom both come from “royal houses” and this was a grand union of two important families. As such, a huge crew of European royals came out for their wedding. They were married in Paris, at Les Invalides. The groom currently works as a hedge fund manager.

As for the wedding gown… it was Oscar de la Renta. Her borrowed/blue accessory were sapphire-and-diamond earrings from her mom. She also borrowed a family tiara (on her mother’s side) for her wedding. The jewels are lovely, but g–damn this is a good dress.

Here’s Princess Bea and Edo. Her dress is… okay. At least she didn’t wear some gaudy green & black cocktail-saloon-dress like she did at Ellie Goulding’s daytime wedding.

I can’t believe Jennifer Lawrence and Rafael Nadal got married this weekend! To other people, obviously. Rafa married Mery, his girlfriend of 14 years, in Spain on Saturday. Jennifer married Cooke Maroney in Rhode Island on Saturday. Who had the bigger wedding? I actually think… Rafa had the bigger wedding, it looks like he spent millions on it. Jennifer spent a good chunk of change on her wedding too, no doubt. And we seem to know more details about Jennifer’s wedding:

Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney are officially married! The 29-year-old Oscar-winning actress and the art dealer, 34, have tied the knot, PEOPLE confirms. A source tells PEOPLE the bride wore a Dior dress for her happy day.

Lawrence and Maroney held a wedding reception for their 150 guests, including Adele, Amy Schumer and Kris Jenner, at the luxurious Belcourt of Newport, a mansion in Newport, Rhode Island that was designed in 1894 by renowned American architect Richard Morris Hunt. Emma Stone and Ashley Olsen were also in attendance.

The estate was inspired by Louis XIII’s hunting lodge at Versailles. It is currently the home to Carolyn Rafaelian, CEO of Alex and Ani. On Friday, Nicole Richie, Joel Madden, Cameron Diaz, Sienna Miller and more were spotted attending the rehearsal dinner, during which the couple hosted a clambake under a white tent on Rose Island.

Sienna Miller is friends with Jennifer Lawrence? Cameron Diaz too? Kris Jenner being there is no big surprise – they’ve been friends for years now. Emma and J-Law are good friends too. I bet Dior was super-pleased to make Jennifer’s wedding gown, but I hope Jennifer really did CHOOSE Dior and it wasn’t contractually forced on her. Do you think we’ll get photos? My prediction is… a Vogue spread. That would feel on-brand for them.

Elle Fanning covers the November issue of InStyle to promote Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She’s absolutely adorable, inside and out. She just seems to be made of kittens. She radiates joy. This interview is mostly about fashion and how much fun Elle has with fashion, but there are some cute stories about Angelina Jolie too! You can read the full piece here. Some highlights:

Her life goal is Phoebe from Friends: “I was always curious and mischievous. Like when I watched Friends, I loved Phoebe. I loved that she was gawky. I had a real awkward phase. I grew 12 inches in a year. I didn’t want to be like everyone else in school. There was a certain confidence that I had, that I was like, “I want you to make fun of me because that makes me feel cool.” There is, like, a fairy-tale aspect to that, so that was always kind of in me. And I was already doing films and stuff.

Her school experience: “I was home-schooled until the third grade. And then my mom kind of realized, “OK, you need to be around other kids.” [laughs] I went in fourth grade, and I was there until senior year. I went to all of my proms. The first prom was in ninth grade. I wore a white Ralph Lauren dress that we found at the mall. It was long and flowy with a V-neck tank. For the second prom I went to the Paper Bag Princess [in L.A.] and got a vintage bias-cut pink John Galliano dress.

Being around celebrities: “Super 8 was a big film, and we went to a couple of award shows, and experiencing all of that was extremely new. I also love seeing celebrities. I’m not jaded by that at all. I met Beyoncé at the Met Ball the first year that I was there [in 2011, when she was 13]. I totally freaked out over that. Leonardo DiCaprio, I totally freaked out over him too.

She faints all the time: “Oh, auditions, I can’t [do them]—I mean, obviously, sure, I can, but they make me so nervous. I fainted in an audition once. It was with Jessica Chastain. I didn’t get the part… I was young, but, yeah, I fell down in front of people. It was very odd. There were glaring lights, and I felt so hot. I fainted in Cannes this year too. Fainting is something I do. I was on my period. It was such a crazy feeling. It honestly happened at the best moment because I wasn’t on the red carpet. Could you imagine? That would have been kind of epic, though.

Advice from Angelina on how to do interviews: “Sometimes I feel like I don’t know all the information. Like, am I qualified to speak on this? But I also think it’s OK for people to say that they don’t know or aren’t sure yet. Angelina [Jolie] said that to me after a recent interview we did for Maleficent 2. She said, “You know what? It’s OK not to answer things.” I mean, I’m still learning.

What she learned from Angelina: “I was so young when I did the first film with her. I was very nervous then. My mom was with me. Now that I’m grown up, she sees me in a different way. We talked about different things. We went paintballing… she’s aggressive. We would do outings because her kids were there, so she was trying to schedule activities on the weekends. I had never gone paintballing before. We were in full-on armor. We were the only people in the place, with all of her kids. She and I were not on the same team. I was so bad. I hit their security guard in the neck, and he was on my team! [laughs] Angelina’s really good… I was good at hiding. I would just hide.

[From InStyle]

I love that her mom figured out that she needed to go to school, and that was probably one of the big reasons why Elle turned out so well-adjusted as she transitioned from child star to adult star. She was around kids her own age who had nothing to do with the film business. Of course, I doubt many of her classmates wore vintage Dior to the prom!! Lordy. As for Angelina organizing paintballing excursions with Elle and the kids… that’s adorable. Elle LOOKS like a Jolie-Pitt too, I wonder if Angelina ever got confused.
