I really do appreciate how Kristen Stewart plays the game these days. She’s figured out a way to be authentic to herself while still playing the Hollywood game and still doing mainstream films and going to big film festivals to promote those films. It helps that she’s doing work she’s proud of these days too – I feel like she’s consciously making the trade-off of “I’m really proud of this film, so I will play the game and wear a big pink gown for the premiere because I know that’s the best way to support the work.” Kristen was in Venice this weekend to support Seberg, the film where she plays Jean Seberg – it’s the true story of how Seberg was targeted by the FBI for her association with Black Panther Hakim Jamal (played by Anthony Mackie). Zazie Beetz, Jack O’Connell and Margaret Qualley are in the film too, and they were in attendance.

For the premiere, Kristen wore this pink Chanel gown which… is actually quite beautiful and unexpected on her. I think I would have disliked this on someone like Elle Fanning – it would have veered into sugary and twee. But K-Stew makes it look punk rock somehow. It’s weird. For the photocall, Kristen wore Chanel – those trousers are awful. Margaret Qualley wore Gucci to the premiere and Dior to the photocall, in case anyone is interested.

As for the subject matter of the film, Kristen spoke about what it’s like to be a politically outspoken actress and the changing nature of her fame:

“It’s not hard for me to wear my politics,” Stewart said, when asked if political causes still need movie stars today. “It shows up in the work I do…in [public] conversations that I have…I like that interaction. I’m so lucky to have it!”

Speaking about her celebrity, Stewart said that “it kind of frightened me a lot, when I was younger, and a little more unsure.” But now, “it’s great that I have this position where I can be totally open about communicating with people.”

Stewart said that she’s not “entirely engaged” on social media,”but I feel like I’m not hiding….There’s a difference.” It’s also a change from how it used to be. For a couple of years, early on in her career, she said she thought: “I have to protect myself. I’m so completely unguarded.” Now, however, “it’s a beautiful feeling, in stark contrast with how I felt [then], when you are initially exposed to something. The onslaught of that type of attention can really put you in a hole.” While she no longer feels that way, “it’s not like I’m going to start a public Instagram and start yelling at people about what I think. But I feel like I kind of do that anyway, in a different way.”

I actually don’t consider Kristen to be all that political, or politically outspoken. But to be a queer woman in Trump’s America today is a political act unto itself, so props to her. As for her performance – people like it. But there’s still no trailer?!?!

Here are some photos of Prince Harry today in Amsterdam. News of the trip was apparently embargoed for royal reporters, meaning no one could report on the trip ahead of time, but reporters were told about the trip and they were there to cover this event. So what is the event? WELL. Prince Harry is announcing a new partnership between “Booking.com, SkyScanner, CTrip, TripAdvisor and Visa,” which will aim to change the travel industry. The project is called Travalyst and it’s being done under the banner of the SussexRoyal Foundation, although Prince Harry has apparently been working on it for two years, back when he was part of the The Royal Foundation with his brother and sister-in-law. Omid Scobie had the nicer take on the initiative:

Prince Harry is on a mission to transform the travel industry. The Duke of Sussex is in Amsterdam today to officially launch Travalyst—a new program that aims to explore and improve conservation efforts at tourist destinations around the world, tackle climate change, and help local communities grow economically.

“Travel has the unparalleled power to open people’s minds to different cultures, new experiences, and to have a profound appreciation for what our world has to offer,” the prince said in a statement. “As tourism inevitably grows, it is critically important to accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices worldwide and to balance this growth with the needs of the environment and the local population. Bringing companies, consumers, and communities together is our best chance to protect destinations and ecosystems for future generations.”

Travalyst won’t encourage people to travel less, but it will help tourists make environmentally friendly decisions, such as providing tips for offsetting carbon emissions and supporting local communities at tourist destinations. The goal is to give the consumer more eco-conscious travel options when booking trips and educate them on the impact tourism can have on the environment. In the months ahead, Travalyst will launch new industry collaborations and initiatives focusing on different areas of tourism sustainability, including preventing wildlife damage and ways to tackle the growing problem of “over-tourism”—which is literally seeing some of the world’s most beautiful places being loved to death.

“I have learned so much from the experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met in places like Botswana and the Caribbean, Nepal and New Zealand,” Harry said in a speech at Amsterdam’s A’dam Tower. “What is clear across this vast landscape is our world faces environmental challenges of unprecedented scope and scale.” A source close to the prince tells BAZAAR.com that the royal felt the project was “hugely important, as the number of people traveling is rising rapidly but individuals are not being given enough opportunities to do it in a more sustainable manner. By bringing together these industry heavyweights, they are able to help lead the way in protecting this planet.”

Critics will be quick to point out Harry’s own widely-reported use of private jets to three different destinations in the month of August. During today’s launch, which he flew to on a commercial flight, the prince said, “We can all do better. While no one is perfect, we are all responsible for our own individual impact; the question is what we do to balance it out.”

So… is Travalyst a site? Is it a resource for tourists so that people can use more eco-data about where to go and how to travel? It sounds interesting.

The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English – who has been caught out lying about the Sussexes multiple times – did a Twitter thread about the launch and Harry’s comments to the press in the Q&A session. English tweeted that “In a Q&A session Harry defiantly insists he will continue to travel by private jet ‘to ensure the safety of my family’. Fair play for answering the answer honestly, but I’m not sure it is helpful. Claiming MRF wouldn’t be safe on a commercial plane won’t cut it with many…To put it in context, though, Harry says he spends ‘99 per cent of my life travelling the world by commercial’. When he travels privately, he says, he does offset the carbon emissions.”

All of that being said, did you hear that the Duke of York flew on a private plane from Spain back to England for crisis talks with his team because people keep talking about how he accepted sex and favors from sexually trafficked minors given to him by Jeffrey Epstein?

While I’m really happy that we have so many photos of Ellie Goulding’s weekend wedding, I feel a little bit sorry for her – the whole “walking out the church” thing was ruined because photographers got way too close, and because her wedding party seemed to swarm around Ellie and her groom, Caspar Jopling. Caspar and Ellie married in North Yorkshire, and there were tons of celebrities and royals in attendance, including the York princesses, Sarah Ferguson, Sienna Miller, Cressida Bonas, Jimmy Carr, Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom and James Blunt. (Ed Sheeran was notably absent, huh.) There was definitely a “circus” atmosphere and it was NOT all about the bride on her big day.

There’s a lot of talk about Ellie’s wedding gown, and she wants us to talk about it! That’s why she provided quotes for People Magazine and other outlets about her dress. She went to Chloe to work with designer Natacha Ramsay-Levi on a custom gown. Ramsay-Levi told People: “We worked on a collage of references from the Victorian era that she wanted to weave into the design, in dialogue with the historical York cathedral where the ceremony was to take place. Her creative point of view made the process fluid and inspiring, and I feel that the end result really reflects her personal sense of style.” The gown took 640 hours to construct, and it was “hand-embroidered with White Roses of York” and “embellished with white glass beads.” Ellie’s silk tulle veil was embroidered with the initials E and C.

I give credit to Ellie for doing something a bit different for her wedding gown and you can tell that she didn’t want the more “standard” kind of wedding gown for this era. It seems a bit fussy to me – I think the sleeves PLUS the high neck PLUS the ruffle is a little bit much – but overall, she’s a beautiful bride. She clearly got the dress she wanted and I’m sure she felt like a princess (a Victorian princess).

PS… Real question: is Princess Beatrice’s ensemble at all appropriate for a day-time wedding?

There were too many headlines about abolishing the monarchy and Prince Andrew’s nasty associations with Jeffrey Epstein, so the Mail on Sunday decided to fly someone out to Mexico for yet another sit-down interview with Thomas Markle. We’re in another one of those cycles. We should have expected it. Thomas Markle’s lies were outed when Meghan and her friends went to People Magazine earlier this year and talked about how Thomas and Samantha are serial liars who need to keep Meghan’s name out of their mouths. They also spilled the tea on a letter Meghan wrote to her father in August 2018, where she told him how much he hurt her by selling her out – keep in mind, Thomas had been telling people for months that he hadn’t heard from Meghan at all, so of course after that, he sold a copy of Meghan’s letter to the Daily Mail, even though he proved that he was a liar and it proved that Meghan had given him a blueprint for what he needed to do to be in her life.

Thomas stayed miraculously quiet – for the most part – this summer. But of course the Mail needed to revive this old sh-t, all while pretending the letter debacle never happened. The Mail also noted that Thomas Markle “neither asked for nor received any payment for this article.” Curious, because I bet they paid him to license the old photos of Meghan used in the article! That’s my guess. Anyway, if you care, you can read his sh-t here. Some “highlights”:

He wants a picture of Archie: ‘I would like them to send me a picture of Archie so I can frame it and put it on my wall beside the one of Meghan. Isn’t that what any grandfather would want? I’d love to know if he’s got the famous Markle nose.’

On Meghan’s birthday: ‘I sent her a card via her financial adviser in LA but received no acknowledgement. I have no idea if she got it.

Why he stayed quiet for a few months: ‘There was never any problem between Meghan and me until recently. I’ve stayed quiet because Meghan was pregnant with Archie but I’m speaking out now because they and their PR people are continuing to ghost me out of her life. Of course I’m disappointed not to see Archie. I had hoped becoming a mother would mellow Meghan and she would reach out.’

His apology for arranging those photos before the wedding: ‘I was approached by a photo agency which said it would be a way to improve my image because the press were making me look like a homeless guy. It was a huge mistake. I wanted to apologise to the Royal Family publicly but Meghan and Harry told me not to. So I texted Jason Knauf, who was Harry and Meghan’s then press secretary, and he asked me what I’d like to say? I said I wanted to apologise to the Queen and the Royal Family and that I meant no harm. That apology never came out. I don’t know why.’

I mean, there’s a lot more in that piece, but I truly feel ill when I have to read this man’s comments in which he tries to bully and emotionally abuse his daughter with the mainstream press’s help. There was literally no reason for the Mail on Sunday to send someone down to Mexico to report on WHICH PHOTOS were on Toxic Tom’s wall. Meghan told him in the letter that he ever wanted to speak to her again, he needed to stop abusing her in the press and he needed to stop selling her out. He has not stopped. And what he’s most upset about is the fact that he doesn’t have his own photo of Archie… so he could sell that for a higher price.

After a day or two, “royal sources” went to The Sun and told them that Meghan has no intention of allowing Thomas back into her life at this point. A source said: “It’s a terribly sad situation but Meghan has made the very difficult decision that she doesn’t have an active relationship with her father any more. This was actually a decision she made some time ago and it is something she’s now coming to terms with. It’s obviously heart-breaking for her but she has to protect herself, her husband and her son.” Yep. She has to protect herself too, because her father seems hellbent on humiliating her and smearing her for money and attention.

Also: before the British peeps roll their eyes at Meghan’s tacky, gauche American family, just remember that the Duke of York raped a 17-year-old trafficked to him by Jeffrey Epstein.

Kevin Hart suffered a horrific car accident over the weekend resulting in serious injuries. Early on Sunday, he was a passenger in his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when it lost control, flipped over and was crushed.

Kevin Hart’s Labor Day weekend has taken an unexpected turn.

Early Sunday morning, the comedian was involved in a car accident on Malibu’s Mulholland Highway, E! News can confirm. Pal Jared Black was behind the wheel of Hart’s beloved 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when he lost control and the vehicle veered off the road and into a ditch. According to TMZ, the car crashed through a wooden fence and the roof was crushed on impact. Black and the third passenger Rebecca Broxterman, who was not injured, were originally trapped inside.

The California Highway Patrol tells E! News that, following the incident, Hart left the scene and headed to his nearby home to seek medical attention. He was later treated at the hospital. Both the Ride Along actor and Black “sustained major back injuries.” Police later determined that Black was not “under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.”

As was previously reported, Hart and three others were injured after his 1970 Playmouth [sic] Barracuda rolled down an embankment early Sunday morning.

“He’s great. He’s going to be just fine,” Eniko, who has been married to Hart since 2016, told reporters, The Blast reports.

According to Us Weekly, Eniko added that “he’s good. Everybody’s good, thank God…He’s fine. He’s awake.”

Popculture reported that Black has actor, producer, and director credits on IMDb. He is engaged to the other passenger who was in the accident, Rebecca Broxterman. She is a personal trainer. There was another mass shooting in Texas this weekend, and the East Coast braced itself for the landfall of Hurricane Dorian. But of course one of the biggest stories ended up being… Donald Trump’s feud with Debra Messing. Debra Messing is a longtime Democrat and supporter of many progressive causes. Mostly, Debra just beefs with Susan Sarandon, which is kind of funny and weird in its own way. But this story, like everything in the Trump Era, is pretty bonkers. It all started when the Trump re-election campaign announced that they would be doing a fundraising swing through California this month. Trump will be part of massive fundraisers in San Francisco (ick) and Beverly Hills, right around the Emmys. So Debra Messing was curious – who in the Hollywood community would actually attend a Trump fundraiser and donate thousands of dollars to this fascist?

On one side, it does make me uncomfortable to think that people would be “targeted” for abuse and public shaming for donating to a political campaign. On the other side, it IS public information and if you donate to Trump, you absolutely deserve to be publicly ridiculed. Debra makes a good point – if you’re so proud to align yourself with white supremacy, misogyny, hatred and putting babies in cages, surely you wouldn’t mind your neighbors and coworkers knowing that about you too? But of course Trump had to respond.

I have not forgotten that when it was announced that I was going to do The Apprentice, and when it then became a big hit, helping NBC’s failed lineup greatly, @DebraMessing came up to me at an Upfront & profusely thanked me, even calling me “Sir.” How times have changed!

Zendaya turned 23 on Sunday – Happy Birthday, Zendaya! She’s currently celebrating in Greece. But it’s not so much where she’s vacationing currently, but with whom. Thanks to DListed, we know that Zendaya is chilling with a group of friends who include her Euphoria co-star, Jacob Elordi. Now the internets are all a buzz that they are an item. And we have all the evidence we need by way of a few spotty pics that prove nothing except they are in the same place and some word of mouth that they were “flirty.”

Rue and Nate?! Zendaya and her Euphoria costar Jacob Elordi were spotted vacationing together in Athens, Greece, sparking romance rumors.

The duo walked side-by-side as they toured the Acropolis of Athens in an Instagram photo posted by a fan on Friday, August 30. The Disney Channel alum, 22, dressed casually in a white cropped T-shirt and jeans, while Elordi, 22, wore a matching ensemble.

An eyewitness tells Us Weekly, “They looked like they were getting a little cozy. At one point, they were walking with each other and being a little flirty.”

The actors were also seen posing in front of similar backdrops in other shots taken by fans.

According to social media activity, Zendaya’s friend Darnell Appling and stylist Law Roach accompanied the pair on the getaway. The trip could be in celebration of the actress’ birthday, which she is set to mark on Sunday, September 1.

They could very well be an item but so far, the photographic evidence is pretty meager. I mean shots like this tell me more about their love of history than their love for each other. But then, we practically had her engaged to Tom Holland due to “flirty” behavior and proximity so I guess Zendaya and Jacob could be dating. Needless to say, no official word has been given on this pairing. Earlier this summer, Jacob likened the Euphoria cast to a “tight-knit family,” which would also explain what looks like a rather sizable group celebrating Zendaya’s birthday together. But it’s much more fun to speculate that they’re dating so let’s do that instead.

My only issue is who the co-star is, though. Jacob is certainly a nice-looking young man and there’s this situation to dedicate some time to. But I haven’t seen The Kissing Booth, in which he is supposed to be dreamy. I’ve only know him from watching half of the Euphoria episodes in which he is an absolute monster and I don’t want him anywhere near anyone, let alone Zendaya. I’m willing to give him a chance though, but only because Zendaya’s pup Noon supposedly approves of Jacob enough to let him hold him.

My breath caught in my throat when I saw this devastating (though, sadly, not unexpected) news on Friday night. Beloved icon Valerie Harper has passed away after a battle with brain cancer. She was 80. People has a thorough tribute for Valerie:

Valerie Harper, who played one of TV’s most popular and enduring characters — the constantly dating, constantly dieting Rhoda Morgenstern — for nearly a decade starting in 1970, has died, PEOPLE confirms. She was 80.

Harper’s daughter Cristina Harper Cacciotti spoke out about her mother’s death on behalf of her father Tony Cacciotti on Twitter writing, “My dad has asked me to pass on this message: ‘My beautiful caring wife of nearly 40 years has passed away at 10:06 a.m., after years of fighting cancer.’”

“She will never, ever be forgotten. Rest in Peace, mia Valeria. — Anthony.”

Harper had been battling a number of health issues over the past few years, including leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, lung cancer and brain cancer.

People wrote of her taking on the role of her most famous character, Rhoda Morgenstern:

In 2017, Valerie revealed that when she was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2013, she had been given three months to live. In 2014, she had told People that “she was at peace with her diagnosis”:

“I’m ready. I’m ready to go,” she said. “Maybe that’s the secret. That I’m absolutely — I don’t want to, my God, I want to live to be 102. … But I am not banking on anything, really, because we shouldn’t. We don’t know what’s around the corner. I think you just take each day and get the best out of it and do what you can and have fun.”

CBS also has a nice story about Valerie. Ed Asner, Valerie’s costar on The Mary Tyler Moore show shared a picture of himself and Valerie on Twitter. Ed wrote a sweet note about his friend passing.

I’m glad that Valerie was able to make peace with her death, but my heart aches for her husband, her daughter, the rest of her family, her friends, and her fans. Rest in peace, Valerie.
