Lindsay Lohan is all smiles as she arrives for the Magic Hour rooftop party.

Lindsay Lohan’s MTV reality show, Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, debuted last night. It didn’t feel like she really did that much advanced promotion for it, as she was only seen out and about on the day the show premiered, and that’s when most of her interviews dropped too. What I’m enjoying about this haphazard-seeming promotion is that… no one seems to be whitewashing Lindsay or pretending that everything is just fine with her. She sat down for an interview with Variety, and in the lead-up to the interview, Variety noted that “Her last theatrical movie, “The Canyons,” came out six years ago, and even independent directors stopped casting her because she wouldn’t show up to set.” Variety also notes that “One sign of how many bridges she’s burned: Several of her former colleagues declined to be interviewed about what it was like to work with her.” Ouch. This comeback is rocky AF. You can read the full interview here. Some highlights:

She was thrilled the first time she saw herself in a tabloid: “The first time I was in a tabloid. “I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I feel like Britney Spears!’ because she was in a tabloid and I felt cool. Little did I know what would happen from there.”

Why does she think people refuse to hire her: “I think there’s a misconception that people still have about me, and I think it’s unfortunate. Hopefully, this will change people’s perception once and for all.

Her mistakes were so long ago, you guys: “Ten years ago. I just don’t want to seem like a martyr. But it’s in the past. I always say to people, “You do realize that was over 10 years ago?” But it was definitely unfair and unjust at certain times, especially as a girl. I worked at the morgue…. I’ve been through the ringer. It was horrible. But from those things, I became a lot stronger.

Whether there is a “Disney curse”:
“I don’t feel cursed… It was different then. There was less protection. So maybe that was the struggle. People know you so young and people are chasing you, and then instead of going to college, you have a month or two months off and you want to go to a club and that’s “bad.” I don’t think there’s any curse with Disney. That’s just a dark thing to say. If anything, it was a blessing, because we’re all still here.

What Hollywood needs to do to bring about equality: “Stop giving me s—! Stop rehashing my past for no reason, because everything is different now.”

Whether she misses living in America: “Yeah, of course. I miss seeing my family. But my brother comes out every other month, and my sister is coming back with me. My mom came to Mykonos, but she didn’t want to be there when I was filming. We make time to see each other, and I talk to them every day when I’m in Dubai at odd hours whenever they call.

Her career goals: “To work with Martin Scorsese. Work with Spielberg. I don’t know. I think goals are limitless, and there’s always going to be something new that I want to do. I just want to make people happy, and I want to stay happy.

Whether she considers herself a feminist: “I’m just Lindsay Lohan. Whatever that is.

[From Variety]

Prepare yourselves, because I’m about to give Lindsay credit for something: I appreciate that she’s not trying to build a comeback for herself with a narrative of “I was victimized and bullied.” Lindsay really isn’t anyone’s victim, that’s not how she sees herself or defines herself. No, her comeback is built on “it happened a decade ago!” Spoiler: a lot of that stuff happened more recently than a decade ago. The multiple trials and rehab stays and court proceedings and crack shenanigans were still happening in 2011, 2012, 2013, etc. Also: I laughed so hard at her answer about equality in Hollywood. Yes, the only thing keeping women from being equal in Hollywood is “people giving Lindsay sh-t for her past.”

Did you know Josh Brolin was sober? I did not realize that, but he did go to rehab in 2013 after a drunken fight at a bar which TMZ posted. He also has a 2004 domestic abuse arrest, against his then-wife, Diane Lane. He didn’t try to explain it away or make excuses and said that it’s Diane’s story if she wants to tell it and that “all that matters is that I have control over my behavior, and at that time, it was a little more chaotic.” So it sounds like he’s done some work on himself and that he’s in a better place. He confirmed that with a post celebrating five years sobriety. He told a story about waking up in his own urine with just hazy memories of the night before, when he broke an aquarium and went through some drywall.

Drunk: when you think you’re having a rip roaring time and the next morning you wake up and your brain has broken into a frenzied beehive and your body is shattered shards of sharp glass desperately searching for what fits where and your spirit is being eaten by worms with great white bloodied teeth and your heart has shriveled into a black prune churning your intestines to the point where dysentery feels attractive and you can’t remember anything you did so you roll out of bed over last night’s urine and you dial your best friend’s phone number because you recall him lifting you over his head, your whole self, before you hit and broke through the drywall and, you think, a large aquarium and the phone on the other end rings and he picks it up, that clambering for a phone, the clumsiness of a hardline, and you say: “What did I do last night?!” and he answers, after a great pause: “…Dude…”. #5years

You hear a lot of stories like that in meetings and it reminds you that you don’t want to go back there. I have about two and a half years sober and sometimes I forget what it was like. I only had a couple of blackouts, but I would wake up every day and try to remember how much I drank the night before. There was always that time period where you wondered what the damage would be. I don’t miss it and the party was never worth the cost. It sounds like Josh is in a better place too. You still have hard times when you’re sober but it’s never as bad as it was or as it could be.

Busy Philipps hosted a live version of her talk show, Busy Tonight, following the Golden Globes. Her guests were comedian Whitney Cummings, writer Ira Madison III, actor Tommy Lenk, comic Rhea Butcher and the bunnies from The Favourite, who mainly just wanted to talk about what it was like to work with Emma Stone.

Busy was wearing the lovely black and white polka dot dress that she wore to the 2011 Golden Globes when she’d accompanied her best friend, Michelle Williams. That year, Michelle won for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn. The actual award, however, never made it back to New York with Michelle. Instead, it resides on Busy’s bookshelf here in California. That is, it will, until Michelle can wrest it back from Busy.

I love Busy, I really do, and I’d be happy if her talk show became a success, but she has got to 1) stop relying on the teleprompter so heavily and 2) stop playing with her hair. As far as the GG statue, Michelle will need to order a dupe, Busy isn’t giving it back. Look at how she’s clutching it. At the 5:35 mark, Whitney takes it and Busy barely lets it go, only to reclaim it eight second later. No one else gets to touch it after that. Busy’s ownership was cemented when Michelle neglected to get the plaque made for it. If it had Michelle’s name, people would ask Busy why she still had it but without that, you know Busy has passed that off as hers. I would have, “Oh, that? I can’t believe you even saw that on the center shelf with the pin light directly on it. I don’t know, I think one reviewer referred to me as ‘transcendent.’ Whatever – tea?” And how many acceptance speeches has Busy given to her hall mirror with that trophy? I’d bogart that thing so bad, it would take the authorities to get it back. Busy knows what’s up.

And I agree with Tommy, I’ll bet Michelle has enough awards that she probably forgets about it all the time. Michelle might need room for more if her Fosse/Verdon movie is as good as the teaser released Monday. Michelle plays the dancer Gwen Verdon, who was married to Bob Fosse. I kind of wish Michelle would play something other than a beleaguered wife, but Verdon was a brilliant, complex artist, as was Fosse, so I am here for this. Plus, there’s the Sam Rockwell bonus:

Fathers out there can relate when they are on kid duty finding a place to change a diaper can be daunting. Well if you’re a dad living in New York you soon no longer have to get creative.

New York just passed a law that requires all new buildings and newly renovated buildings with public restrooms to install changing tables in both women and men restrooms. That means dad you no longer have to change your kiddos diaper on that public bathroom counter or on the floor.

It’s hard to believe in this day and age that this isn’t a standard with all public lavatories across the nation. Statistically, men are picking up a lot of duties when it comes to raising their children. More and more men are sharing the work and we are seeing an increase with stay- at -home dads while the mothers go to work.

This is a serious post!!! What’s the deal with not having changing tables in men’s bathroom as if we don’t exist!! #FLM #fatherslivesmatter clearly we do this often because look how comfortable my son is. It’s routine to him!!!! Let’s fix this problem! I Kaepernick drop a knee to this issue! @theshaderoom let’s show the innovation of fathers! #squatforchange

A post shared by Donte Palmer (@3boys_1goal) on Sep 23, 2018 at 5:20am PDT

The office of New York mayor Andrew Cuomo states, that in all public restrooms, “there must be at least one changing table accessible to both genders per publicly-accessible floor. Building owners or managers must post clear signs directing the public to the location of the nearest available changing table.”

While New York is the first state to make it official other states are taking the initiative. Several states are installing changing tables in both gender bathrooms when constructing new buildings. They are beating the states to the inevitable laws requiring both women and men lavatories to be equipped. It’s also a courtesy to customers that shows not only excellent service but that the business cares about their customer’s needs.

Florida father of three Donte Palmer posted his reality on Instagram of what great lengths he goes to when he is out and about with his kids and has to change a diaper. His post went viral and inspired the dad to start a campaign and hashtag #squatforchange. Dad’s around the world can now post pictures of their difficult scenarios they find themselves in out in public restrooms when facing the task of changing their child.
