58th Monte Carlo TV Festival - ‘Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' - Photocall

As someone who loves scary movies, I really liked A Quiet Place. The taut thriller marked the directorial debut of The Office alum John Krasinski, who also co-wrote the screenplay. The film brought in $334.5 million globally and is getting Oscar buzz.

Mere weeks after A Quiet Place was released, a sequel was greenlit by Paramount Pictures with a release date of May 15, 2019. Initially, John said he thought the film, which he recently described as a “love letter” to his kids, was a one and done for him and co-star/wife Emily Blunt. It seems he’s had a change of heart.

In an interview with The Independent last month, John said that, “I could totally see myself handing over the reins to someone else,” adding that, “It’s really just about finding the right story.” He went on to state that, “I know Paramount announced it and really want to do one. I really credit them with allowing us to very gently get in the water; it’s really nice of them to do because a lot of places would just make it. We’re really trying to find a story that feels very connected [to the first one].”

He reiterated that during a Q&A at the Silver Screen Theatre in Los Angeles, saying he felt it was a great project for Emily and him. “That was my intention for the movie itself,” but then, “I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else.’”

“They heard some pitches, and I told [producer] Drew [Form] about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

I honestly have mixed feelings about this sequel. I thought the original was a great standalone film, with a solid ending that, as much as I don’t want to admit it, leaves room for a follow-up. That being said, if there’s going to be a sequel, I’m glad John is involved, as he really seems passionate about the project. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Actress Amy Schumer is pregnant! The Emmy winner is expecting her first child with hubby Chris Fischer.

Amy Schumer, 37, dropped a big clue via Instagram that she would be announcing some big news. The Trainwreck star posted a picture of the Royal couple Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan on her Instagram from their tour of Australia.

Schumer then posted a second picture of the soon to be Royal parents but photoshopped Harry and Meghan out of the picture and inserted her face and her hubby’s face. The comedian wrote alongside the post dropping a hint that she may be expecting.

“About to announce some exciting news on @jessicayellin Insta page. Please follow her for up to the minute #newsnotnoise she breaks down what’s really going on. She agreed to post a lil noise today for me! Follow her and VOTE!!”

Former CNN White House correspondent Jessica Yellin took it from there for the actress. Yellin posted on her Instagram Story a list of voting recommendation’s and at the bottom of the list read “I’m pregnant-Amy Schumer.”

Schumer has been dodging pregnancy rumors since she tied the knot with her hubby in February. Schumer and Fischer had only been dating for a few months before they walked down the aisle in a surprise wedding on February 13 in Malibu, California.

Just hours after the couple said their ‘I do’s’ fans speculated that Schumer was pregnant and the reason behind such a rush wedding. The I Feel Pretty Star set the record straight on social media responding simply, “No I am not pregnant.”

In July rumors began swirling again when Schumer posted a picture of herself in a red dress with her arms near her stomach on her Instagram. The actress quickly put out the pregnancy noise clarifying the purpose of the post.

“I am not pregnant. It looked like I was pointing to a bump or something, but I’m not. [My friend] Lessa Evans and I have created a clothing line for all sizes and shapes at a chill price point. That’s what I was trying to allude to, but thank you for thinking of my womb.”

Courteney Cox and fiance Johnny McDaid at IMRO

Courteney Cox & Johnny McDaid were off-and-on for a little bit, when they even ended their engagement and broke up completely, in 2015. At some point – mid-2016 – they got back together and people still say they’re engaged, although at this point, I don’t think anyone is planning a wedding. Is there any kind of rule about that? If you break off an engagement and break up completely, are back to being “engaged” when you get back together? Miss Manners is shook. Anyway, my guess is that they probably won’t ever get married and my guess is that they’re fine with that. CC and Johnny chatted with People Magazine last week about how they “feel married” already. Sure?

Courtney Cox feels like she’s already tied the knot with boyfriend Johnny McDaid. While attending the Irish Arts Center Spirit of Ireland Gala presented by Bushmills Irish Whiskey in New York City on Friday, the couple — who got engaged in 2014 before splitting up and eventually reuniting — opened up about their relationship status. Although the program for the night indicated that the actress would be attending with her husband, the Snow Patrol musician told PEOPLE that husband is just “a label.”

“We’re not married,” added the Friends alum, 54, before remarking, “I’m married in my heart.”

When asked whether that meant that the pair didn’t have an actual ceremony, McDaid, 42, sweetly answered, “We have one every morning when we look at each other. My thoughts are never without Court. She’s my best friend. She’s my partner, in everything,” he shared, before detailing one of the romantic ways he illustrates those feelings. “When I write her poems, it’s just an extension of how I feel every second anyway, and that’s true for me.”

The couple also opened up about how they like to spend the holiday season together.

“We get together. That’s our tradition. We don’t really have anything laid in stone because that would box us in. We just get together and see what happens,” McDaid shared, adding that Cox and her 14-year-old daughter Coco “come over — and we hang out, sing songs, play music, eat and drink…and be together.”

[From People]

The whole “I write her poems” thing reminded me of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s marriage. That sort of… saccharin, uber-romantic, performative-love thing. I mean, in Keith and Nicole’s case, I think they are completely obsessed with each other. But Courteney and Johnny? I think Court is finally with a guy who is “in charge.” Every other relationship she’s had, she was the one calling the shots and being the Type-A one dictating the terms. That’s just my take on it – Johnny doesn’t want to get married, so they aren’t getting married and she’s learned how to be okay with that.

Kim Kardashian in NYC

Kim Kardashian covers the latest issue of Richardson Magazine, a magazine I’ve never heard of before now. The cover is NSFW, so I’m not going to embed the image – you can see Richardson’s Instagram here, which includes Kim’s editorial. The point is the actual interview, in which Kim talks about her pregnancies, and how she’s not actually a very wild, sexual person. No joke – for all of her posing and sex taping, Kim has always given off a pretty asexual vibe. At least she knows that about herself, I guess. Some quotes from the interview:

On her pregnancies: “I was somebody who gained 60 or 70 pounds in my pregnancies and felt so unlike myself and so unsexy… Literally, at the end, when you can’t even have sex, I thought, ‘I’m never going to have sex again in my life!’ I just felt so bad about myself in my soul.”

Postpartum body: “I didn’t lose weight that quickly. But I’d say eight months later, I had probably my best body ever. I felt like, ‘I did this. I lost all this weight on my own. I feel better than ever!’ I just put my body through that, and it was so empowering when I did a nude shoot.”

Her public persona versus who she is in real life: “At home I’m much more conservative than my public persona is. My public persona is wild, sexual. But I’m actually uncomfortable when I talk about sex, and I’m more conservative when it comes to that. But I’m vain like that. I can go on a set and be fully naked in front of 50 people doing a shoot, but if I’m one-on-one, intimate in bed, I’m, like, shy and insecure. I definitely have two different personalities like that. But I think motherhood has actually made me more confident about being publicly sexy.”

On Kanye’s MAGA love: “I am aware that Kanye speaking out in favor of Trump got me through the door — got him to pick up my call. I’ve always had different opinions than Kanye. But when I went there, and when I saw what could be done, I realized that I could get more done if I just stayed focused on the issue I was passionate about instead of complaining.”

On dealing with adversity: “Everyone deals with things differently, and I seem to deal with things — whether the sex tape, the [2016 Paris] robbery, even the death of my dad [Robert Kardashian], who was the most important person in my life — I push to just overcome it. I just don’t have a victim mentality. That’s never been my personality. I’ve always been, like, the victor — ‘I can get past this, and this will not define me.’”

[From Billboard & Us Weekly]

“I just don’t have a victim mentality. That’s never been my personality. I’ve always been, like, the victor.” I get that she’s trying to brag about how strong she is and how she’s overcome so much, but good God, enough with the “victim mentality” crap. Some people go through horrendous things and they’re actually profoundly victimized and there’s nothing wrong with different people having different reactions to different things. Saying that you don’t have a “victim mentality” is actually victim-blaming, like a victim’s mentality is the reason why they were victimized. You’re shaming people for needing time to heal or being affected by being abused, degraded or assaulted.

U.S.-HOUSTON-RALLY-TRUMP

Some days, I think back to the demographic breakdowns of Trump voters, and how it’s not really true that the Deplorable demographic is just made up of Alex Jones-brainwashed idiots, uneducated hicks and violent Nazis. Educated people voted for Trump. Educated, somewhat intelligent people still support Trump. Thousands of people still turn up at his Nazi rallies too. As we discussed, Trump went down to Texas to stump for Ted Cruz last night. During his speech, Trump echoed Adolf Hitler when he said “You know, they have a word, it sort of became old-fashioned. It’s called a nationalist. And I say, ‘Really? We’re not supposed to use that word.’ You know what I am? I’m a nationalist. OK? I’m a nationalist. Use that word. Use that word.” That came just after he claimed that “radical Democrats” want to “restore the rule of corrupt, power-hungry globalists.” Remember, globalists = Jewish people. So this is just Nazism. It was always Nazism. He’s not hiding it anymore.

President Trump: “I’m a nationalist.” pic.twitter.com/3lxCrtSkrN

— MSNBC (@MSNBC) October 23, 2018

This is his closing message for the midterms: if the Democrats win, they’ll put Jewish people in charge and they won’t care about you, white people. Just… be scared. It’s okay to be horrified and frightened and appalled. In fact, it’s a good thing if you are still capable of shock and fear. The mainstream media isn’t even giving this the kind of coverage it needs – “Nazi” needs to appear in every piece of coverage, because that’s actually what he is. Yes, Trump is ignorant of history and ignorant about literally everything, but he knows exactly what he’s doing – this is Trump at his most primal, stoking fear and hatred and glorifying his own white nationalism and violent anti-Semitism.

“I’ll Never Love Again” has been insulted on this site by Lainey Lui multiple times now. Yesterday, she dared to call it “sh-t”. That was the last straw. I refuse to stand by and let the most impressive song on the A Star Is Born soundtrack be disrespected like this.

i married my best friend ??

A post shared by Joshua Kushner (@joshuakushner) on Oct 21, 2018 at 5:12am PDT

Joshua Kushner posted this Instagram yesterday, a little throwback to his wedding day, which was last Thursday. I’m still surprised that Karlie and Joshua managed to sneak off and get married on a weekday when no one was expecting it, but I actually had a realization about the timing: Karlie is part of the rebooted Project Runway. She’s already filming Project Runway this week, and she’ll probably be doing that for months. So maybe the wedding was timed around her only “days off” until January or something.

Anyway, as you can see, Joshua believes he married his “best friend.” Mazel tov, I guess. It’s weird that so many rich guys are only BFFs with supermodels, right? Karlie also posted some new photos on her Instagram Stories, including one pic where she’s still in her Dior wedding gown, sitting on the floor and eating a piece of her wedding cake. We also got a glimpse of her “minimoon” – Joshua and Karlie headed out for a 48-hour honeymoon this past weekend because, as I said, all of this was scheduled around her Project Runway commitments.

Also, for what it’s worth, People Magazine confirmed the obvious, that Taylor Swift didn’t attend Karlie’s wedding. Taylor was already in Australia for her tour. Even if Tay had been in New York, I doubt she would have gone to Karlie’s wedding though. Those two had a massive falling out, and one post on Karlie’s Instagram hasn’t fixed it.

A post shared by Ryan Murphy (@mrrpmurphy) on Oct 22, 2018 at 10:18am PDT

Prolific writer/producer Ryan Murphy has been married to photographer David Miller for six years and they have two sons, Logan, five and a half, and Ford, who turned four this month. In a new post to Instagram, Ryan revealed that Ford has been battling a pediatric cancer called neuroblastoma since he was just two years old. Ford’s pediatrician found an abdominal tumor during a routine pediatric checkup. Murphy writes that Ford has undergone surgery and “several difficult procedures” to remove and treat it. Neuroblastoma is most common cancer in babies under one and can have a high mortality rate depending on what type it is. The good news is that Ford is doing well now. Ryan has just donated $10 million, an entire wing, to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where Ford received care. I got choked up reading this. A photo of Ford is above and here’s the caption in text:

I’d like you to meet Ford Theodore Miller Murphy. Today is a big day in his and our family’s lives. Two years ago, this sweet little innocent boy with a deep belly laugh and an obsession with Monster Trucks was diagnosed with neuroblastoma…an often fatal pediatric cancer. Ford’s cancer — an abdominal tumor the size of a tennis ball — was found during a normal check up by his brilliant pediatrician Dr. Lauren Crosby @drlaurencrosby. From there, Ford has undergone a huge surgery and several difficult procedures. My better half, David Miller, was a rock through this — strong and patient and loving (I was always a trembling wreck). Ford was strong as well, and today he is thriving. He just celebrated his fourth birthday, a milestone we are all so thrilled about. Ford is doing so well because of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles @childrensla. Today at the hospital we are donating a wing in tribute to Ford and our family is making a gift of $10 million dollars so that other children can experience the love and care of this exceptional facility. No child is turned away at Children’s Hospital. We are so honored and lucky to contribute, and encourage everybody who can to do the same. We love you, Ford. ? credit: @dcmphoto.biz

[From Instagram]

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a non-profit facility and they’re a pioneer in treating neuroblastoma. Ryan’s generous donation will go far to help families who can’t afford care for their children. I’m so glad Ryan’s son is doing well now and hope his health continues to improve. I can’t imagine what their family went through.
