Congratulations are in order for Chelsea Peretti and Jordan Peele.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress, 38, and the MADtv star, 37, are expecting their first child together, she announced via Instagram.

While poking fun at Beyoncé’s surprise pregnancy announcement, Peretti captioned her baby bump selfie, “beyonce schmonce” while visiting an art installation at Los Angeles-based museum The Broad.

In April 2016, Peele announced he married Peretti during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Congratulations to them!

I’m including some of this week’s magazine covers about the mayhem of Emperor Baby Fists’ first two weeks in office. The Der Spiegel cover is getting a lot of attention, mostly by pearl-clutchers who believe that the cartoon image is too “gory.” Personally, I think it’s completely apt. I also find the New Yorker cover to be haunting and devastating, and the Bloomberg Business and Economist covers are completely appropriate. I won’t post the Village cover (it’s an Irish magazine) though, because I do think the editors took it too far.

Anyway, what’s going on Baby Fists’ America? Well, unfortunately for Jared Kushner, his father-in-law still falls apart whenever Jared and Ivanka turn off their phones for Shabbat. This weekend, we’re still feeling the fallout from last weekend’s Muslim Ban, including the fact that tens of thousands of once-valid visas had been revoked under Trump’s executive order. The ACLU and other lawyers are still taking the EO to court, which is what happened in Seattle – a district judge named James Robart quashed the temporary Muslim Ban. Judge Robart was appointed by George W. Bush, and Judge Robart seems like a pretty average white guy, perhaps even the kind of guy who might have voted for Baby Fists. But even this judge was like “this Muslim Ban needs to stop, this is insane.” But of course no one can question, correct or reverse something said or done by the EMPEROR. So Trump went on a tweet-storm throughout Friday and Saturday:

We must keep “evil” out of our country!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 3, 2017

The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017

What is our country coming to when a judge can halt a Homeland Security travel ban and anyone, even with bad intentions, can come into U.S.?

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017

Because the ban was lifted by a judge, many very bad and dangerous people may be pouring into our country. A terrible decision

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 4, 2017

There are obviously more tweets, which you can read here. This reminds me of Baby Fists’ attack on a Hispanic judge who was overseeing one of the many lawsuits against Trump. That happened last year, in the middle of the campaign. Trump attacked that judge for what Trump believed to be the judge’s inherent conflict of interest, because no one Hispanic or “brown” can be fully American. That’s basically what it is. I bet Trump wishes so hard that Judge Robart was someone other than a bland-ish white guy, so Trump could REALLY go after him. As for the reality we are now faced with, that the President of the United States is attacking a Senate-confirmed and Republican-nominated federal judge for merely interpreting the law and putting an end (however temporary) to a crass, illegal and immoral Muslim Ban… all I can say is that this is our world now. Get used to it.

Also: GO FALCONS!! The Patriots are absolutely “Trump’s Team.” So I’ll be rooting for the Falcons tonight.

Selma Blair Grabs Coffee In Los Angeles

Ok. So my head is still pounding. I drove away from a gas pump with the nozzle still in. I was chastised for wearing fur but that was weird cause it was teddy bear fur. And then I paid for the broken pump so that was over a 500 dollar tank of gas . Felt awful for being so absent minded. Then I burst into tears in front of barista after ordering and made everyone uncomfortable. Still crying. And I ran out of dog food. And excedrin. Can I have someone say this will pass ? #waytogo #crapday #stillgrateful #makemelaughplease #timetoplaywithmylittleone

Over the weekend, this was one of the top stories, which made me make the Confused Nick Young Face. Like, we know Selma Blair might be sort of messy – we learned that last year, when she took some pills, mixed them with alcohol and freaked the f–k out on an international flight. What happened to Selma last week wasn’t that bad, in that she didn’t get carted off a plane by authorities and medical personnel. But it’s still a weird story. Basically, Selma had a really bad day. She was absent-minded, she could have really hurt people, and she cried in public. Selma vented about her terrible day on Instagram and it became one of the top stories. I’m still like ?????

Selma Blair had a rough day on Friday that left her in tears. The 44-year-old actress recounted her bad day to her 339,000 Instagram followers — explaining just what happened in the caption of a tearful Boomerang shot. The troubles started off when Blair made a visit to the gas station and accidentally left without removing the gas pump from her car’s tank.

“I drove away from a gas pump with the nozzle still in,” she said. “And then I paid for the broken pump so that was over a 500 dollar tank of gas.” Feeling “awful for being so absent minded,” Blair then “burst into tears in front of barista after ordering and made everyone uncomfortable.” She was upset too, after animal rights activists criticized her for wearing a fur-trimmed red coat in Los Angeles on Thursday — fur she said wasn’t real. “I was chastised for wearing fur but that was weird cause it was teddy bear fur,” she wrote.

On top of all of that, Blair said she “ran out of dog food. And Excedrin.” At the time of her post, Blair said she was “still crying.” My head is still pounding,” she added. “Can I have someone say this will pass?”

We’ve all done absent-minded sh-t before. I’ve never driven off with a gas pump still attached, but I once drove off without putting the gas cap back on (and I left the gas tank door open) and I was incredibly embarrassed. She’s lucky she didn’t hurt herself, her car or other people because driving off with the gas pump attached could have ended really badly. We’ve all these kinds of bad days, haven’t we? I usually have them on a PMS day, where every little bad thing just seems to compound the previous bad thing. Like, I hit every red light, and they’re out of my favorite chicken wraps and I forgot to get the one thing at the grocery store that I really needed and my leg is cramping and I have a headache, and on and on.

These are the “teddy bear fur” photos.

I have been following Megyn Kelly’s trajectory with some interest, just because I think she’s basically the canary in the coal mine for NBC shifting to more conservative-trending broadcasting. Megyn left Fox News and immediately took a contract with NBC News. We were told that she would get a talk show and probably her own magazine show (in the vein of 60 Minutes or Dateline). Then we learned that Megyn was actually going to be taking an anchor slot for the Today Show. Some media-watchers were like, “Way to normalize Megyn Kelly’s divisive and stupid faux-conservative politics, NBC.” It definitely feels like something larger is at play, like a major network news division is making a choice to pander to (let’s just say it) Deplorables.

Well, last week, Tamron Hall decided not to renew her contract with NBC. Tamron is often called one of the best anchors at NBC and MSNBC. On the strength of her MSNBC anchoring (she had an afternoon time slot), she was given a spot on the Today Show too. She’s well-liked and respected by colleagues and journalists and she does a lot of work specifically on domestic-violence awareness and race. She is also one of the few prominent African-American women at NBC News. According to sources, NBC didn’t push her out though – sources tell People Magazine that NBC offered Hall a “generous” new contract and they were “very surprised” that she didn’t take it. Following Tamron’s announcement that she was leaving, the National Association of Black Journalists had something to say:

The National Association of Black Journalists is accusing NBC of “whitewashing” after the network announced Wednesday that longtime anchor Tamron Hall is leaving the network. PEOPLE learned last week that Megyn Kelly, who left Fox News last month for a new role at NBC News, is set to host an hour of the Today Show, replacing the slot held by Hall and her co-anchor Al Roker. Though Hall was offered a new contract and insiders said the network expected her to stay in her other roles at the Today show and MSNBC, the anchor walked away from the deal.

In a statement released Wednesday, the NABJ shared its disappointment over Hall’s departure, which comes less than a week after PEOPLE learned that Hall and Roker would be replaced in the 9 a.m. slot.

“The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is saddened by Tamron Hall’s departure from NBC. She broke ground as the first black female Today show cohost and was enjoying ratings success alongside Al Roker during the show’s third hour of programming,” the statement reads. “NBC has been a leader for diversity in broadcasting, but recent reports that Hall and Roker will be replaced by former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly are being seen by industry professionals as whitewashing,” the statement continues.

“Published reports suggest Kelly will be replacing Today’s Takes, the hour of programming led by Hall and Roker. Roker tweeted last week that the show leads the ratings in its time slot and consistently beats its competition. This achievement deserves praise, not punishment, as replacing talent often is associated with low ratings performance,” NABJ’s statement continues. “Kelly has a well-documented history of offensive remarks regarding people of color. On The Kelly File, her Fox News show, the host said then-First Lady Michelle Obama’s commencement address at Tuskegee University pandered to a ‘culture of victimization.’ ”

The statement concludes: “While NABJ wishes Hall well on her next move, NABJ requests a meeting with NBC leadership on the top-rated show’s dismantling. We look forward to dialogue and resolve regarding black journalists and their continuing roles at NBC both in front and behind the camera.”

[From People]

NBC released a statement that was basically like “let’s continue this dialogue” but I think the NABJ makes some great points. Did Tamron leave specifically because they were taking away her successful time slot… and giving it away to a white woman with a history of racial insensitivity (if not outright racism)? Was Tamron like “I don’t want to work with people who would do this”? I think that’s the case. And why is NBC so jazzed about Megyn Kelly? She’s a self-promoter and “people” believe that she’s got a big future in media, but she’s so overhyped and insubstantial. I feel sorry for Tamron.

Morgan Freeman covers the new issue of AARP Magazine, a magazine which we rarely quote from, but here we are. Freeman was a big Hillary Clinton supporter, and an Obama supporter before that. He’s a longtime Democrat in general, I’m pretty sure. He even went as far as doing voiceover work for HRC’s commercials, that’s how much he liked her. So he was obviously asked about his politics and what he thinks about Emperor Baby Fists. Just note: this interview was obviously conducted weeks ago, if not a full month ago or more. So Freeman’s “let’s give Trump a chance” comments are not coming right after the past two weeks of lunatic shenanigans.

Life under Baby Fists: “As for politics today, I supported Hillary in the election, and now it feels like we are jumping off a cliff. We just have to find out how we land. I’m not scared, though. I’m holding out hope that Donald Trump has to be a good president. He can’t not be. What I see is a guy who will not lose.”

Playing the president in several movies: “Some people thought Hollywood wasn’t ready for a black president, but I didn’t consider it. I’m not a professional black actor; I’m a professional actor. I can remember only once in the movies playing black, and that was Driving Miss Daisy.”

Finally winning an Oscar: “The truth? It was anticlimactic. I was up for best actor three times. The Oscar for Million Dollar Baby was for best supporting. I keep the statue at home in a little room in Mississippi that has tchotchkes in it, and all of the high-end awards are there: the Screen Actors Guild, the People’s Choice, Golden Globe. I’ve stopped waiting for the best actor Oscar, because you get to a point where it’s better to be nominated over and over. It’s more fun that way. You get to stay in that crowd.”

[From The Daily Mail]

Even given the fact that Freeman probably said this back in December, I still don’t understand this train of thought: “I’m holding out hope that Donald Trump has to be a good president. He can’t not be. What I see is a guy who will not lose.” What? Trump is a guy who doesn’t like to lose therefore he can’t lose? Why do rational people make these kinds of arguments? Here’s an argument I’d like to make to all of those people saying “give him time, maybe it won’t be that bad”: he’s literally doing everything he promised to do. He’s banning Muslims from America, he’s hellbent on building that f–king wall, and he’s just as petty, unhinged, idiotic and unpatriotic as ever. He’s going to sign executive orders to “punish” women for having abortions, and then he’ll punish them for being on birth control, then he’ll sign another EO declaring that he has the most bigly hands in the country. *shakes baby fist at God*
