Octavia Spencer was on Jimmy Kimmel to promote the remake of The Witches on HBO, which just premiered. It’s directed and co-written by Robert Zemeckis (Death Becomes Her, Forrest Gump) and is based on a novel by Roald Dahl. It co-stars Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci. Octavia plays the grandmother to a little boy hunted by witches who eat little children. I watched the first half hour and found it cute and entertaining. Octavia is excellent, Anne and Stanley play weird characters so I’m not sure about them yet, but the real star is her on screen grandson, played by Jahzir Bruno.

I know she doesn’t get a lot of comments but I love covering Octavia’s interviews as she’s funny and matter-of-fact. Octavia turned 50 earlier in lockdown and she told Kimmel she was disappointed to have to cancel a trip she paid for to Hawaii for her friends. (She’s said in the past she’s practical with money and yet she splurged on this and didn’t get a refund!) Instead they recorded a video for her with other celebrities, some of whom she knows and some she just admires. The one she was most excited about was Keanu! Here’s more of what she said, and you can see her interview below.

She was going to take her friends to Hawaii for her birthday
None of that happened and I didn’t get any of the airline tickets money back. I ate the airline tickets for 10 people. The big five oh and I ate five oh.

Her friends made her a happy birthday video instead
It was not the birthday that I had wanted but my friends put together this surprise for me. They got a lot of people that I worked with and that I liked to do a special video for me. Chris Evans, Katie Perry, [both] friends, and then Keanu Reeves. Of course I started crying like a baby ‘Keanu!’ He’s somebody I liked and my friends know that.

The rest of the interview is well worth watching. She told this really cute story about sneaking in to Senator Ted Kennedy’s office when she was a teenager touring Congress as part of a youth group. She also talked about her love of Marvel movies, particularly Captain America, and how bummed she was to have to miss the Endgame premiere in the April, 2019 when she was in London filming. That’s a perk you don’t hear about often from celebrities – getting to go to other friend’s premieres!

As for her birthday video, she didn’t tell this story on Kimmel but Keanu stopped to help Octavia, years ago before she was famous, when her car broke down in LA! He stopped, on his motorcycle, and pushed her car for her. Ever since she’s gone to his movies opening weekend to support him. I love that story! Also, it means a lot that Octavia’s friends organized this birthday video for her and that they chose to let her decide whether to share it, at least that’s how I imagine it happened. She was like “no, I’ll keep this to myself and just talk about it.” Plus I forgot to mention that Octavia admitted earlier this year that she’s been shaving two years off her real birth date! I think her thought process went something like this: “I’m 50 now! F’ck it.”

When lockdown is over we need an Octavia and Keanu photoshoot. Better than that they should be in a movie together!

For some reason, I thought Offset and Cardi were staying in Atlanta currently? But I guess I was wrong. Over the weekend, Offset was in Beverly Hills, and he drove through a rally of Donald Trump supporters. He was in the car with Cardi’s 20-year-old cousin, Marcelo Almanzar. And some sh-t went down with the Beverly Hills cops. Marcelo was arrested, and Offset was briefly held and released.

Offset was detained and released by Beverly Hills Police Saturday night after driving through a rally in support of President Donald Trump, according to police.

In a statement, BHPD confirmed the arrest of a 20-year-old man named Marcelo Almanzar on two charges of carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm in public. The bail for Almanzar — who shares a last name with Offset’s wife Cardi B and is her cousin, according to TMZ — was set for $35,000.

“There have been media reports that entertainer Offset was arrested,” the statement read. “Those reports are inaccurate.”

According to the police department, a passerby saw that Almanzar “pointed a weapon from a vehicle at him.” However, they did not press charges.

Offset, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was detained while recording the altercation with law enforcement on Instagram Live. The video — shared widely on social media — shows Offset arguing with several police officers and being pulled out of his car after he refused to exit his vehicle when asked by police.

“Artist and Philanthropist Offset was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department following an attack by aggressive Trump supporters,” a rep for Offset said in a statement to PEOPLE. “He was released shortly thereafter. Offset thanks his fans for their support and wishes everyone peace and safety during these trying times. He encourages everyone to get out and vote because nothing changes if nothing changes.”

Yeah, this story got picked up all over the place because Offset was filming himself and his interactions with the police on Instagram Live. Offset is maintaining that Trump supporters were beating up the car and using their flags to try to break the windows, maybe? I guess to the BHPD’s credit, they actually don’t seem to be violently escalating the situation, although they truly swarmed the Black guy’s car and didn’t seem to do sh-t to the Trump supporters. The woman cop even seems to be trying to reason with Offset verbally, and she doesn’t have her gun out. So… did any of those Trump supporters get arrested? Probably not. I wonder how many of them were carrying concealed.

Throughout the Trump “presidency,” many of us have been convinced that Melania Trump has a body double who sometimes makes appearances with Donald Trump at the White House, the campaign trail and various events. While we had some inkling in 2017, the Decoy Melania aka Fake Melania aka Fauxlania mania really went next-level in 2019. That was when Fauxlania stepped out with Donald Trump and it was clear that she was shorter than Original Melania and she just had enough facial differences to be noticeable. People also pointed out that Original Mel has a Secret Service bodyguard who looks suspiciously like Mel. Is the Secret Service officer the Fauxlania? It would make sense from a security standpoint.

Anyway, all of this to say that Original Melania has only been seen once since she tested positive for the coronavirus more than three weeks ago – OG Mel pushed her husband’s hand away at Thursday night’s debate. That may be OG Mel’s final appearance on the campaign trail, because Mel likely still feels like sh-t because of the virus. So Fauxlania was called in:

I have previously been accused of “hating curly hair.” I do not! I just don’t like that permed-hair look (especially in 2020), but natural curls are lovely. I wish my hair had more curl or wave to it. Even when I’ve tried to curl my hair, it will only stay that way for about ten minutes. So not only am I jealous of women with curl and wavy hair, I’m jealous of women who can curl their hair and have it stay that way. Nicole Kidman always had curly, red hair. As she became more and more famous, her hair got strawberry blonde-to-flat-blonde and straight. Her hair often looked overprocessed and just kind of not-great. But slowly, she’s been bringing back the old-school red and the old-school curls. She spoke about that in an interview to promote The Undoing (where her character has red curly hair, as seen above).

Nicole Kidman is hiding her curls no more. In a new interview with The Sunday Morning Herald, the Academy Award-winning actress admitted that while she may only have a few regrets in her life, one is damaging her naturally curly hair with repeated heat.

“Do I wish that I hadn’t screwed up my hair by straightening it all the time? Sure,” Kidman told the outlet.

In the past few years, fans of the Big Little Lies star, 53, have often seen the actress rocking straightened hair or a blowout. Recently, however, Kidman has been making a transition back to her naturally curly locks, and fans have been loving it.

Aside from reminiscing about her hair, Kidman also told the Herald that she wished she had “been more careful with the sun” after previously facing skin cancer.

“But am I grateful to be around? Oh, yeah. And am I willing to share my knowledge, what I’ve learnt along the way? Absolutely,” Kidman added.

I’m including some photos of Nicole from last year, in the span of June to September 2019, when she was filming The Undoing. She had three different hair colors and haircuts and hair styles, which makes me wonder if her old-school red curls in The Undoing were… just a wig. I hate to think it! But I do wonder if her hair is just too screwed up and overprocessed now, and she’ll never get those curls back! Also: I’ve never believed that blonde or strawberry-blonde looks good on her and I’ve never understood why she keeps insisting on it. It washes her out! The red-red color makes her look younger.

Jennifer Aniston has been a long-time Democrat and Democratic donor. I don’t believe – but I could be wrong – that Aniston is anything like an elite Dem fundraiser or super-donor, but I have never doubted her liberal politics, even if she chooses to not wear her politics on her sleeve. Aniston also joined Instagram in the past year, and she’s taken to it quite well – she’s amassed more than 35 million followers, and she’s good at curating her feed with a combination of social-messaging and work promotion and lighter stuff, like fashion and puppies. So I’m not surprised that she found a way to use Instagram to talk about voting, and I think her message is kind of perfect for her?

#IVOTED for @joebiden and @kamalaharris. I dropped my ballot off, and I did it early. I voted for them because right now this country is more divided than ever. Right now, a few men in power are deciding what women can and can’t do with their own bodies. Our current President has decided that racism is a non-issue. When Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away, I stopped following the Lincoln Project. I wish all of those Never Trumper Republicans well on their journey to try to buy back their souls. But I had one of those come-to-Jesus crystalizing moments that, no matter what, all of those Lincoln Project dudes are totally fine with Amy Coney Barrett. They’re totally fine with Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell remaking the federal courts into an army of hyper-conservatism which will affect Americans for the next fifty years. Those Lincoln Project dudes agree with Trump about a lot of stuff. They just don’t like him personally.

Still, the Lincoln Project guys are good at making ads. I’ll give them that. I guess they’re also flush with money? They decided to buy a billboard in Times Square, in New York, featuring Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner and the realities of the coronavirus numbers in America. The numbers are awful: 224,000+ Americans dead from the virus. America is setting new records for daily infections, with 85,085 NEW CASES reported last Friday. People aren’t social distancing anymore (although people are still wearing masks, at least in Virginia). There are no plans from this administration. So that’s what the Lincoln Project billboard was about: taking Ivanka and Jared to task for their inability to do jacksh-t about any of it. Hilariously – ?? – Javanka has threatened to SUE! My God.

Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are threatening to sue the Lincoln Project over billboards the anti-Trump group put up in Times Square assailing them over the White House’s coronavirus response.

In a letter to the group posted on Twitter on Friday night, an attorney for the president’s daughter and son-in-law demanded the “false, malicious and defamatory” billboards be taken down.

Marc Kasowitz warned that if the ads stay up, “we will sue you for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory and punitive damages.”

The Lincoln Project was defiant, saying in a scathing public statement that the billboards would stay up.

The billboards feature an edited photo of Ivanka Trump smiling and gesturing at coronavirus death tolls in New York and the U.S. — the original photo depicted her holding up a can of Goya beans — and a quote attributed anonymously to Kushner in a September Vanity Fair article.

Javanka’s lawyers are calling it “libel,” because of the “quote” used for Jared. The VF article just has an unnamed source quoting Jared secondhand from a meeting about the coronavirus numbers several months ago. The full quote, from VF, had Kushner telling a group: “Cuomo didn’t pound the phones hard enough to get PPE for his state … His people are going to suffer and that’s their problem.” The full quote is equally damning, honestly? The fact that the Trump administration was withholding their stockpiles of PPE to states with critical Democratic governors is STILL appalling. And it’s STILL happening. Even in the past week, Trump has threatened to withhold testing funds and aid to states run by Democrats.

The Lincoln Project posted the threatening letter from Javanka’s lawyer. It IS sort of funny that less than two weeks before the election, Jared and Ivanka are threatening to sue a bunch of ex-Republicans over a billboard in a state which will go hard for Biden-Harris. I mean… none of this matters?
