As it is every year, everyone comes to LA for Oscar week, whether they’re involved in the Oscars or not. Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady were in LA last night as she was honoured by the UCLA IoES for her environmental activism. Sure, they’re not just there to party, and this is a legit reason to be in…

hemsworth mens health

I know it’s just a combination of “weird angle” and “Photoshop,” but Men’s Health really did a number on Chris Hemsworth’s arms on this cover, right? They give him little T-Rex arms. They made his left arm shockingly out of proportion with the rest of his body too. Maybe it’s all some kind of high-level scheme to make Chris Hemsworth more relatable. Who knows? I do actually find Chris Hemsworth to be somewhat relatable – not that I think he could be my neighbor or anything, but I genuinely buy that he’s just this really big Aussie bro who just wants to hang out with his other bros. After a tricky couple of years where Chris seemed to want to avoid being typecast and stereotyped, he seems to have learned to lean into that “big Aussie bro” image more and more. He’s doing it a lot in this interview (you can read the full Men’s Health piece here):

Why he’s on the cover of Men’s Health: His new app, Centr ($20 per month; centr.com, App Store), which has video workouts, meal plans, meditation techniques, and more from an all-star team of experts.

Why he created the app: “That was kind of the genesis of this whole Centr app—things I learned along the way from meeting people who are leading experts in their fields, in mindfulness, nutrition, and training. For me to do a great job and not to implode from the anxiety, I’ve got to find that center. So I thought about it and I talked to my wife about it and I was like, “We could put together a team in about five minutes.” It ended up being a two-year journey! I’m always getting asked, “What’s the secret formula?” There’s no single answer, but it’s about staying open to advice and learning and constantly growing.

Whether he’ll still be an action star in his 50s: “On certain days where I’ve had a few injuries, especially during Thor, I’m like,“This is starting to become a drag.” Then really over the last year or so, I changed up a lot of my training and nutrition program and it’s the best I’ve ever felt. It’s about whether the story interests me, to be totally honest. I grew up watching the Tom Cruise model of films that are fun, entertaining, and then squeezing in a few themes that speak to different parts of yourself, your personality, or your soul.

The pressure to maintain his body: “It comes hand in hand with the roles I play, but look, occasionally you’ll see paparazzi poking out of the bushes and you’re like, “How’s my rig look? Am I on point, or have I slacked off lately?” [Laughs] Also, I maintain my fitness because it makes me feel better.

What he misses about his 20s from a physical standpoint: “I used to be able to get up and sprint, and I’ve found that after lifting weights for such a long time and not getting in touch with your fast-twitch fibers, there’s such a snappiness that your body had back then. There’s ways around that: training differently, reminding your body to do those things. The dads’ race at my kids’ school last year: I hadn’t sprinted in about five years, and then boom, you go and do a hundred-meter sprint at full pelt and my back was cranked for weeks. I guess this is part of me avoiding this question because I don’t want to admit that there are things in my 20s that I can’t do now. I’m careful not to plant that in my psyche that I’m getting older and falling apart.”

[From Men’s Health]

Chris Hemsworth is only 35! But I felt him on the whole “my back was cranked for weeks.” He’ll know he’s truly getting too old for this sh-t when he throws out his back and he doesn’t even know how he did it! That happened to me two winters ago – I had been working out like normal, sleeping like normal, not lifting anything crazy, not doing anything out of the ordinary and suddenly my back was spasming like crazy for a full week. What did I do? I still have no idea. I guess it was just a “haha, you’re getting older, bitch” moment from my body.

As for his app.. I mean, fitness AND mindfulness AND nutrition? Somewhere, Gwyneth Paltrow just had a very icy Big O.

Damn it, I really enjoyed watching him work out!!

Behind the scenes with (and inside the mind of) @chrishemsworth. So what exactly does Thor (and the brains behind the new @centrfit mind-body app) think of on a photo shoot? Take a guess. (Then read Hemsworth’s thoughts in the story link in our bio.

As we well know by now, Jennifer Aniston had a swanky bash for her 50th birthday. One of her besties, Courteney Cox, attended. I think some other people did as well, but I don’t think that got much publicity (/s). So what does one get the birthday girl who already has everything? A pottery wheel. At least, that’s what Courteney and a group of Jen’s friends did. And to thank Courteney and Co, Jen jetted them to Cabo and they all thought they were going to die.

Courteney, Jen and some friends were flying from L.A. to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for Aniston’s birthday party when they heard a loud bang.

Cox revealed, “I’m not afraid of flying at all… my dad was a pilot… but I was really scared, because when we were taking off, we heard this really loud bang and I was like, ‘Oh, that sounds like we should probably check that tire.’”

She continued, “There was no tire at all, there was no wheel. Luckily, there are two wheels on each side and two in the front. I have to say, we were in the air for four hours, burning off fuel and just thought of what it is going to be like when we land… it was a really smooth landing.”

Courteney added, “I sent a little text to Coco, ‘I love you,’ I didn’t say why, and to Johnny [McDaid]… I told him everything that was going on and I FaceTimed him after.”

Cox also revealed what she got Jen for her big birthday. “A bunch of us got her a pottery wheel and lessons, even though she’s a great artist, and a table, a big beautiful antique table.”

[From Extra]

Unlike Courteney, I am afraid of flying and would still be shaking from that flight. And telling a different ending, if a flight is going to scare a decade off my life, I’d embellish something more dramatic than a smooth landing to tell at parties (and maybe limp a little, for effect). But I’m glad there was no harm to anyone save the plane. I’ll bet the Cabo Girl Talk was a bit more reflective than the usual margarita gossip. Maybe they discussed what Jen should make first on her new pottery wheel? I know! She can make a symbolic wheel for each Cabo guest. I’ve never heard Jen was an artist, I hope we hear more about that.

Courteney is currently promoting her Facebook Watch docu-series, 9 Months with Courteney Cox. The show follows a number of couples from conception (not like the actual conception but, you know, the positive pee-stick) to birth and documents all the emotions around wanting and struggling with having a child. Courteney has been very open about her infertility struggles and is helping others understand the strain it can put on people/couples.

I grew up watching Lonely Island sketches on SNL and YouTube, to the point where I can still sing/rap nearly every one of their tracks. In fact, this used to be my desktop background in high school for the longest time:

That’s the original file too, I’m not kidding. Don’t judge me. I was 16…

The Duchess of Cambridge did not attend the Duchess of Sussex’s New York baby shower. I doubt Meghan even invited Kate, and even if Meghan did, Kate wouldn’t have gone. Reportedly, there will be another baby shower in London, possibly hosted by Doria Ragland, but who will attend that? Meghan’s got friends in London, but she’s also not part of any “mumset” as they say across the pond. She’s doesn’t have a wealth of UK-based female friends who are already moms, women whom she can call for advice and support once the baby comes. So maybe Meghan wants to develop a closer bond with Kate?

With just weeks to go until she becomes a mom, Duchess Meghan was in need of a girls’ getaway. So the former Suits star, 37, jetted to New York City, where she celebrated her baby shower among friends. During her trip, the California native was also spotted shopping at high-end baby store Bonpoint and having lunch at famous macaron spot Ladure?e with her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney. She also met up with Serena Williams and Abigail Spencer for dinner at The Polo Bar on Tuesday, February 19.

Meghan’s girl time was much needed. In the new issue of Us Weekly, a source reveals that the philanthropist feels she’s lacking “a group of moms in London to lean on.” As a result, she hopes to strengthen her relationship with her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate. “It’s not bad by any means, but they want to make it stronger,” notes the insider.

[From Us Weekly]

I’ll believe it when I see it. Don’t get me wrong, at this point I don’t even believe that Meghan and Kate are at each other’s throats or anything, I think it’s just a normal grey-area relationship, somewhere between “not BFFs” and “not utter enemies.” Part of is that their “friendship” was always set up to fail – between the tabloids, the palace courtiers and Kate’s history of being work-shy, it would have been a bigger shock if they had become fast friends and supported each other in every way. As it stands now, I doubt Meghan and Kate are suddenly going to become besties once Meghan has the baby. It feels like the Cambridges are going to be in for another rude awakening at how happy people will be for Meghan and Harry and the Royal Polo Baby. In fact, my theory is that the Cambridges will be launching another press-attack against the Sussexes once the baby arrives.

Do you have to care about professional wrestling to enjoy Fighting with My Family? U.S. President Donald Trump Remarks to the Venezuelan American Community

A few political notes before everybody heads out to enjoy this Oscar Weekend. First of all, Donald Trump has made no reference publicly or on social media to Coast Guard Lt. Christopher Paul Hasson, the neo-Nazi who was armed to the teeth and in possession of a detailed kill list of prominent journalists, Democrats and Supreme Court Justices. Whenever a Trump-supporting Nazi white supremacist jackhole gets caught, it’s always *crickets*. But don’t worry, Trump tweeted about Jussie Smollett:

.@JussieSmollett – what about MAGA and the tens of millions of people you insulted with your racist and dangerous comments!? #MAGA

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 21, 2019

For the love of God. As for Christopher Hasson, it was just THIS PAST WEEKEND that Trump was on Twitter, encouraging “retribution” against Saturday Night Live because they make fun of him. He was also doing his near-constant thing of calling the media “the enemy of the people.” But according to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, all that never happened.

After arrest of Coast Guard lieutenant, who allegedly amassed weapons and compiled list of Democratic lawmakers and journalists, Sarah Sanders says Pres. Trump hasn’t “at any point” done anything “but condemn violence, against journalists or anyone else.” https://t.co/vD1SnbtLMf pic.twitter.com/JO6LCpexIm

— ABC News (@ABC) February 22, 2019

Does anyone else think it’s stupidly funny that this bitch stands outside to “brief” reporters because she thinks she’s making it uncomfortable for THEM? Like, there’s a press room and that’s where she should be briefing the press on a daily basis. But she only deigns to step out a few times a month to hee-haw her Deplorable lies. Speaking of, this clip is something:

“The president far and away was the better candidate,” Press sec. Sarah Sanders says, “and he outworked Hillary Clinton. That’s why he’s president.”

“He didn’t need to, nor did he, collude with the Russians. Pretty simple.”https://t.co/NkJuIoh4fP pic.twitter.com/VHbBcVLq26

— ABC News (@ABC) February 22, 2019

Trump couldn’t “outwork” a sloth. And Hillary Clinton got more votes than Don Bigly. And Sarah Sanders needs to be indicted.

Game face!

A post shared by Hoda Kotb (@hodakotb) on Jan 13, 2019 at 4:41pm PST

I love to see Hoda Kotb’s interviews because she’s such a genuinely enthusiastic and nice person. She has spoken about how happy she is to be a mom, she adopted baby Hayley in 2017, and how much it changed her life. The last time I covered her she said she would take her worst day being a mom over her best day before that. She’s since written two children’s books and she was on The Tonight Show promoting her upcoming release, You Are My Happy. She was also celebrating her one year anniversary of co-hosting the Today Show with Savannah Guthrie. That happened after Matt Lauer was finally exposed as a rapist and people wonder why that took so long, why NBC execs covered for him for years, and also why no one realized what a winning combination Savannah and Hoda would be. (It’s because they’re women, but you know what I mean.) Hoda spoke so fondly about Savannah and praised what a pro she is. Now that Kaiser and I are doing the podcast I think about that a lot, about how much work and experience must go into talking naturally on camera and being a good interviewer. The best people make it look effortless.

I know it looks easy on TV but it’s such a hard job
My admiration for [Savannah] deepens every day. There are certain people the more you know them the more you like them. She is an amazing person. I watched her interview Andrew McCabe then Andy Cohen.

How old is Hayley?
Hayley actually just turned two. The thing people say that I believe is the most true is ‘you blink and it goes like that [snaps fingers]. You have to hang in the moments and I’ve been trying to do that more.

I was looking at my photostream yesterday. My son, who is now 14 and taller than me, looked like a completely different person just a few years ago. (2015 wasn’t that long ago, you know?) When he was a newborn an elderly man told me “it will go by so fast.” I still remember that occasionally as it seemed trite at the time, but it’s so true. Hoda’s baby is only two though so she has plenty of time. On the other hand we look back fondly on those years when our babies were innocent and sweet, but we forget how frustrating and hard it could be. It’s bittersweet to watch them grow up and become adults because the time is fleeting and we feel both remorse and relief. I only want the best moments back, not all the work.

Here’s that interview. She also talked about Kathy Lee Gifford retiring and called her a television legend.

This baby!

February 22, 2019 – Smutty Shout-Outs

Feb 22, 2019 Author: | Filed under: Celebrities

For Zoe from “the girls” – good luck to you on Monday. I know staying positive is easier said than done, and it can be annoying when you hear it because of course it’s scary and of course you worry. At the same time, you got this. This f-cking asshole “spot” is nothing. It’s no match for you, a “war…

U.S. WASHINGTON SECURITY THREATS HEARING

Miley Cyrus covers the March issue of Vanity Fair. I’m not into it. I’m not into any of it. I understand what Miley was trying to do and I understand what Vanity Fair was trying to do too, but I just don’t like it. Miley’s latest version is hippie-country-twanger who never did anything offensive or ridiculous, and if she did anything weird or ridiculous, that’s over because she’s a new person now and allow her to explain all of that in long-winded self-aware diatribes. Vanity Fair was aiming for a dishy cover profile with a former child star, like Vogue got with Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. The problem is that Miley isn’t really a mess, she’s just an a–hole who is good at rebranding herself and talking out of both sides of her mouth. You can read Miley’s cover story here. She also gave VF a “memo” she wrote herself, which is a really annoying read. Some highlights from both:

On her wedding to Liam Hemsworth: “Being someone who takes such pride in individuality and freedom, and being a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I’ve been inspired by redefining again what a relationship in this generation looks like. Sexuality and gender identity are completely separate from partnership. I wore a dress on my wedding day because I felt like it, I straightened my hair because I felt like it, but that doesn’t make me become some instantly “polite hetero lady.” (PS: Straight women are badass, too.)

How she contradicts herself constantly: “I surprise my own self with my choices. Sometimes I’ll even think: Why the f–k did I do that? Or, What got me there? What? Why?”

The Woolsey-Malibu fire that destroyed her home, and how it led to her wedding: “When you experience what we experienced together with someone, it is like glue. You’re the only two people in the world who can understand.”

Whether she feels different as someone’s wife: “Zero percent different. I would say that losing the house changed us much more than getting married changed us. We’ve worn rings forever, and I definitely didn’t need it in any way. It actually is kind of out of character for me.”

Her wedding wasn’t an old-fashioned thing: “The reason that people get married sometimes can be old-fashioned, but I think the reason we got married isn’t old-fashioned—I actually think it’s kind of New Age. We’re redefining, to be f–king frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship. A big part of my pride and my identity is being a queer person. What I preach is: People fall in love with people, not gender, not looks, not whatever. What I’m in love with exists on almost a spiritual level. It has nothing to do with sexuality. Relationships and partnerships in a new generation—I don’t think they have so much to do with sexuality or gender. Sex is actually a small part, and gender is a very small, almost irrelevant part of relationships.”

On Trump’s presidency: “You know, I said I would move away if he became president. We all said a bunch of sh-t we didn’t mean. Because we really thought: Maybe people will listen. Maybe people actually realize how detrimental this will be to our f–king country if this happens. Obviously they didn’t. But for me to move away—what the f–k is that going to change? As someone who is so proud of being an activist, am I going to feel proud of myself just running away from, and leaving everyone else here to live under, a completely racist, sexist, hateful a–hole? You can’t leave everyone else to fend for themselves.”

[From Vanity Fair]

Miley can define herself however she wants, but my issue is even with all of the flowery identifiers and labels and explanations, she’s saying that marrying a hot guy in a traditional wedding is some kind of avant-garde statement about queer life. I know the kidz will appreciate her words of inclusion and acceptance, but can we dial down the “redefining” rhetoric? That being said, I completely understand why they had their wedding right after the fire – the fire really did bring them closer together.

Miley Cyrus, on navigating “sexuality and gender identity”: “I wore a dress on my wedding day because I felt like it, I straightened my hair because I felt like it, but that doesn’t make me become some instantly ‘polite hetero lady.’” https://t.co/jWGuHgztSS
