Anna Kendrick’s movie, A Simple Favor, also starring Blake Lively and Henry Golding, opens next Friday. I plan to see it because it looks strange, I’m loving the fashion and I truly adore Anna. Anna was on Ellen yesterday where she confessed to being a big ol’ liar. What’s worse – she lied to the Bellas. Apparently, the Pitch Perfect cast is big on birthday celebrations. Whereas Anna said she loves to fete the other women’s special day, she doesn’t like a big production on hers. So this year (her birthday was August 9), Anna lied to the others, telling them that she would be in Vancouver for the occasion. Instead she stayed home and sorted her sock drawer. According to Anna, it was perfect.

Anna and I are the opposite on this, which will work well when we meet and form our epic friendship. I prefer to sit home and do nothing most of the time. But I’m very silly about my birthday and welcome any and all festivities for it. I love how she lied to get out of a proper bash but ordered her own cake because she’s “not a sociopath.” As long as she has her priorities in order. One thing her PP party circuit will have to contend with in the future is her new BFF, Blake Lively. Blake and Anna have been swooning over each other on Twitter, which has set off a social media battle between Anna and Blake’s hubby Ryan Reynolds, who played Anna’s love interest in The Voices. Their ‘feud’ culminated at the Teen Choice Awards when Anna beat Ryan for favorite Twitter personality and she told him to “suck it” during her acceptance speech.

One quibble, though – Anna’s going to have to stop calling The Magic Castle “dorky.” That place is amazing. The first time I went, Tippi Hedren was selected from the audience to assist a guy who had a bird act. The guy said later he didn’t know who she was until after the show so only Tippi and the audience were in on the joke.

Later in her the segment, Ellen asked Anna to show off her rap skills. After listening to her performance, I think perhaps Anna is better off sticking with a cappella.

75th Venice International Film Festival - Suspiria - Premiere

As much as I can appreciate a tattoo, and I have four of them, I’m not a fan of getting “couple tattoos,” because as I’ve learned, it’s a risky prospect. All of my ink is mine and isn’t tied to anyone, thank goodness. The latest celebrities to show their commitment by permanently etching it on their skin are Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson.

28-year-old Dakota and 41-year-old Chris, who, to be honest, I completely forgot were a “thing” have been together for almost a year. They recently debuted subtle, matching tattoos of an infinity symbol with two Xs embedded in it. Over the weekend when Dakota was at the Venice Film Festival promoting the upcoming (and really creepy-looking) Suspiria, the ink was visible below her left elbow. Last week, at a promotional event in Los Angeles, Chris was sporting the same thing in a similar location on his inner arm.

The couple has been very low-key about their union and I’m okay with that. I actually kind of dig the tattoos as well. I’m all about the tiny tattoos. If only I were younger. Sigh. And, to be honest, it’s not the most regrettable thing that Dakota has ever done (**cough** Fifty Shades **cough**).

While Chris and Dakota may be intensifying their relationship, Chris is still maintaining a solid friendship wth his ex, Gwyneth Paltrow. In one of the most interesting articles I found while researching this story, the pair spent time together over the weekend in Malibu, where they were treated to the sight of a surfing dog. This is the most awesome thing I’ve seen all day.

I’m not going to jinx Serena Williams like I did at Wimbledon. Serena had a relatively breezy route through the Wimbledon draw, where she met Angelique Kerber, the same player she beat in the 2016 Wimbledon final. Only I jinxed her, and Serena ended up losing in the final. I won’t make the same mistake this time. Because in the second major in a row this year, Serena Williams is back into the final. Serena defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the semifinal last night. Sevastova broke Serena in her first service game, and then Serena ended up winning 12 of the next 13 games. The scoreline: 6-3, 6-0. Yes, she fed Sevastova a bagel scoreline in the second set. It was beautiful. Serena started serving-and-volleying and charging to the net like an old-schooler. Her volleys and overheads were gorgeous.

Serena will play youngster Naomi Osaka in the US Open final. Osaka plays tennis because she saw Serena play years ago and wanted to do the same. Naomi’s father tried to follow the path of Richard Williams (Serena and Venus’s dad) to train Naomi for the game. Naomi beat Serena in Miami, so this will be a rematch. And it will be hard. And I’m not going to jinx her. I’ll just wish Serena luck.

A few more things – Serena’s fur-baby Chip was allowed into Arthur Ashe Stadium to watch his mom play. He took a nap through most of it:

And Serena is one part of this magnificent new Nike ad. Prepare yourselves – I cried, and there’s a good chance you will too. Colin Kaepernick does the voiceover.

PS… I know there are a lot Federer fans, Djokovic fans and Nadal fans out there, but will *some* of you please send out some good thoughts and vibes to Juan Martin del Potro, who is playing Nadal in the semifinals today? Please, he’s my favorite.

The television business is turning into a big game of musical chairs. Some shows are canceled by one network only to be picked up by another network or streaming service. This can sometimes be a good thing, as in the case of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was picked up by NBC after getting the ax from FOX, and sometime’s it’s not so great, as in the case of Last Man Standing, which should have just gone away after bering canceled by ABC, only to be picked up by FOX.

The latest show shuffle is the Kiefer Sutherland drama Designated Survivor. The show was canceled in May, in the network bloodbath that also took Great News, The Mick, Timeless and Last Man on Earth from us (and many of your other favorites). After months of negotiations, it’s set to return for a 10-episode third season on Netflix. Production is set to begin later this year and the new episodes will premiere sometime in 2019.

According to Deadline, in the new season, Kiefer’s character Tom Kirkman, a lower level cabinet member who became president after an attack took the lives of the President and most of the cabinet, will hit the campaign trail, and the season “will explore today’s world of campaigning, smear tactics, debates, campaign finance and ‘fake news.’”

The show’s executive producer, Mark Gordon, said that moving the series to Netflix is “a win-win for all involved,” adding that, “The story of President Kirkman and those around him has not been fully told, and we look forward to working with our new partner in continuing the show for a global audience.”

On Wednesday, Kiefer said he was “thrilled” to continue working on the show, adding, “I believe this format will allow us to continue to delve deeply into storylines and issues concerning the American electorate that were not previously possible.”

I haven’t watched Designated Survivor yet, but this new season sounds like it could be interesting. At least I have some time to catch up, as seasons one and two will be streaming on Netflix prior to the debut of season three. I feel another binge coming on. I’m not supposed to say that, am I?

Hilary Duff Admits Son Luca Was Hesitant

Hilary Duff Admits Son Luca Had a Hard Time Warming Up to the Idea Of Having a Sibling

Hilary Duff, 30, is anticipating the arrival of her second child, a baby girl, with boyfriend Matthew Koma. But the actress reveals her 6-year-old son Luca wasn’t sold on the idea of sharing his mother.

Duff recalled the conversation with her son when she broke the news that he would soon be a big brother. “The first conversation was pretty sad,” The Lizzie McGuire alum told AOL. “He was like, ‘Why?’ Because it’s been just us for six years!”

Any mother can sympathize with Hilary when it comes to telling their only child that life as they’ve known it is about to change. Adding a new member is a transition for everyone in the family and a mother never knows the reaction that their only child will have when they learn the news that a sibling is on the way.

Duff handled the situation like a champ and explained to her son that he has a new and very important role as big brother to uphold. “I was like, ‘Dude, you have no idea. This is going to be a really good thing for our family. Mom has so much room in my heart for you and a sister and you’re going to have so much fun watching her grow and teaching her things.’”

The Younger actress also sold the idea of a baby sister to Luca with the appeal that any 6-year-old boy would find as cool. “I also told him that babies are funny! I was like, ‘And I’m going to chase you around with her dirty diapers sometimes.’ And he was like, ‘Nooo!’ If I keep it lighthearted, then he has fun with it and I do think he’s excited,” she said. “He’s touching my belly now and saying ‘goodbye’ to her when he goes to school.”

Now that Luca is excited and ready to make room for his baby sister Hilary admits that she has some last minute nerves about becoming a mother to a girl. “Boy” is all the actress has known for the last six years but luckily she has her big sister Haylie to look to for guidance. Haylie recently welcomed her second daughter and is looking forward to holding her sister’s hand in the unknown territory she’s about to embark on.

“To watch her be a mom of two is very different than being a mom of one, though,” Duff said. “It’s been cool to soak some of that up and see that that’s what is coming to me.”

We think you will do just fine Hilary, you got this!

Burt Reynolds has passed away at the age of 82

This is sad news. Iconic actor Burt Reynolds, who was probably best known for his role in Smokey and the Bandit, passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 in Jupiter, Florida. According to his agent, the cause of his death was cardiac arrest.

Burt, who played college football for my alma mater, Florida State, began his acting career with a recurring role on Gunsmoke. He was known as an action star, appearing in numerous television roles and in films such as Gator and Sharky’s Machine. Burt told CNN that he felt his best performance “by far” was in the 1972 drama Deliverance. In an interview years after the film was released, he said, “I thought maybe this film is more important in a lot of ways than we’ve given it credit for.” Burt also memorably posed nude for Cosmopolitan magazine in a much-parodied centerfold featured in the magazine’s April, 1972 issue. In his 2015 memoir, But Enough About Me, he said of that photo shoot that, “It’s been called one of the greatest publicity stunts of all time, but it was one of the biggest mistakes I’ve ever made and I’m convinced it cost Deliverance the recognition it deserved.”

Burt found his way to comedy in the late 70s and early 80s with films like Smokey and the Bandit as well as Cannonball Run and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. He received a much-deserved Oscar nomination for his role as adult filmmaker Jack Horner in 1997’s Boogie Nights. He’s also starred in numerous movies since then including Striptease, The Dukes of Hazard and The Last Movie Star (which was really good). He was also cast in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood prior to his passing. Burt was also a philanthropist and devoted much of his time to teaching young actors, founding the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film & Theatre in his home state of Florida.

Of his career, Burt told CNN, “I took the part that was the most fun… I didn’t take the part that would be the most challenging.” He passed up many notable roles, including Han Solo in Star Wars, John McClane in Die Hard and the role that eventually went to Jack Nicholson in Terms of Endearment. In his memoir, he admitted, “I didn’t open myself to new writers or risky parts because I wasn’t interested in challenging myself as an actor. I was interested in having a good time. As a result, I missed a lot of opportunities to show I could play serious roles. By the time I finally woke up and tried to get it right, nobody would give me a chance.”

This is a stinger for me personally, as I grew up with Burt, and he will be missed. He lived a good life, wrapping up his memoir with this fitting farewell: “I always wanted to experience everything and go down swinging. Well, so far, so good. I know I’m old, but I feel young. And there’s one thing they can never take away: Nobody had more fun than I did.” Rest in peace, Bandit.

That was a clickbaity headline, you got me. But I do have R-rated angle here about Peter Kavinsky Noah Centineo. Let me start with the PG content first though.

This punk. He just reposted a back to school photo that Netflix put up on IG a few days ago. But check out his caption. Noah knows exact…
