PEOPLE has named Meghan Markle the Best Dressed Star of 2018. This is because whenever she wears anything, the items sell. Which is what happens with Princess Kate’s wardrobe too. Is that enough though? Like is that where we’re setting the criteria for who gets to be called the Best Dressed?

Amy Schumer appears in the latest issue of O Magazine. The interview was partly covered back in April, during Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations show but it’s now appearing in print. The conversation focuses on body positivity because Amy was still promoting I Feel Pretty. The quotes the magazine sent us aren’t about the movie, which I prefer because I still have real problems with its message. Instead, the quotes they pulled are about Amy as a role model for women and how she’s enjoying married life. As we know, had a whirlwind romance that resulted in a surprise wedding only a few months after she started dating chef Chris Fischer. According to Amy, it’s not how quickly she married that surprised her, but that she wanted to get married at all.

On being a voice for women:“I never set out to change anyone’s life; I just wanted to make people laugh. But at some point I realized people were paying attention, and I had an opportunity to be a voice for women.”

On when she realized that her message was being received:“The reaction to the first season of my show told me there was a demand for this perspective. We hadn’t known that what we were doing felt revolutionary to people.’”

On the importance of the #MeToo movement:“We’re saying to women that not only are we not angry you’re telling your story, we’re grateful you were brave enough to do it.’”

On her recent marriage and the feeling she gets when she says “husband”:“It’s like a calm, a peace. I’d never wanted to be married. I thought the concept was weird. Why would you involve the government in love? But then I met this man and wanted to sign all available paperwork to commit to him.”

On the lesson that took her the longest to learn:“That I’m proud of how I’m living. I’m proud of mostly everything I do. The people I love, love me, and they’re close to me. I’m going to create my own destiny.”

[Received by email from Hearst publicists]

I’m sort of neutral on Amy. She absolutely drives me batty much of the time, but she’s also impressed me on occasion, so I still pay attention to her. I like that when she saw that women were listening to her, she decided to use that voice to speak against things like gun violence. Amy told her story of sexual abuse so I imagine that #MeToo is an important cause to her. I like how she phrased it, ”we’re grateful you were brave enough to do it.” But I’m really feeling her quote about how she is proud of how she’s living. My opinions of Amy aside, to be able to say you are proud of how you’re living your life is one of the best compliments you can give yourself. And honestly, none of us compliment ourselves as much as we should.

As for her views on her marriage, I think that’s really sweet. I kind of know where she is coming from. I wasn’t against marriage or the institution but I just really liked being single. I liked being single more than any relationship I’d ever had and sometimes couldn’t wait to get out of the relationship so I could be single again. Then The Mister happened along and all of a sudden, the thought of him not being there made me very sad. I would have been his girlfriend forever, too – it was just the forever part I wanted. I’ll admit, when Amy and Chris first got married, I didn’t think it stood a chance. But now I kind of get it. And I’m happy for her. Finding that kind of bond with someone is groovy and in addition to compliments, we could all use a little more groovy in our lives.

Donald Trump at a press conference

It was widely believed/known that Donald Trump didn’t announce his candidacy for president out of a true desire to BE president. Trump ran because he wanted to “have fun” and spread his racism, xenophobia and ignorance to as many people as possible. He wanted to be an even bigger celebrity. He wanted… a better TV deal. Initially, many people thought his goal was to get a better deal from NBC. As the campaign moved on, there was the strong possibility that he wanted his very own TV channel, Trump TV. But what really spurred him on? Gwen Stefani. At least that’s the story Michael Moore is telling.

Michael Moore has made the startling claim that Gwen Stefani was the reason Donald Trump ran for the presidency. The Fahrenheit 11/9 alleged in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that Trump, 72, decided to announce his candidacy for president after he learned Stefani, 48, made more money as a coach on NBC’s The Voice than he did when he starred on The Apprentice. Moore, 64, claimed Trump organized his infamous Trump Tower campaign announcement as a way to show NBC he was more popular. NBC began airing The Apprentice in 2004.

“He’d been talking about running for president since 1998, but he didn’t really want to be president,” Moore told THR. “There’s no penthouse in the White House. And he doesn’t want to live in a black city. He was trying to pit NBC against another network, but it just went off the rails.”

A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. Despite Trump’s attempt to one-up the network, NBC cut ties with the business mogul following his comments about Mexican nationals. A rep for Stefani did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

[From People]

Yeah, I can see that. I don’t think it was entirely about Stefani’s paycheck, but probably more like a general feeling that he was losing relevance as a “personality/celebrity,” and he thought running would be “fun.” I truly believe that he thought he would half-ass it for six months and then walk away. But then Putin’s henchmen came in and were like “well, we could help you, you know.” Still, I expect Bob Mueller to subpoena Gwen Stefani at any moment.

The GQ Men of the Year Awards were held last night in London. This is for British GQ, so of course the awards mainly went to British people. The photos from the carpet were not all that great, but that’s probably because the Prince of Wales didn’t deign to walk the carpet. Yes, British GQ decided to honor Prince Charles… and he actually showed up and gave a speech and everything! But he didn’t walk the carpet, which I guess is fine. It would have been weird to see him posing for photos next to Dua Lipa. He was given an award for his decades of philanthropic work:

“When I was first told of GQ magazine’s wish to give me a Man Of The Year award I felt sure it must have been some kind of mistake,” he said. “I thought it must be some sort of ill-deserved fashion award. Particularly as in fashion terms I’m like a stopped clock. In otherwords I’m fashionable once every 25 years.”

He said he then learned the gong was for his philanthropy, adding: “It really is incredibly kind of you and GQ magazine to do this. As you can imagine there is nothing more satisfying than seeing the difference you can make to so many young people’s lives. If you can actually provide them with an opportunity, help them to develop self-confidence and self-esteem, suddenly their lives can be transformed.”

Dylan Jones, editor of GQ, praised Charles for his incredible charity work. “The Prince of Wales has given his service to charities and philanthropic endeavours with such steadfast revolve, clarity of purpose and dedication to others, at home and on the world stage. We are particularly honoured to be able to dedicate the Prince of Wales with this award during British GQ’s 30th Anniversary this year.”

[From Hello]

I think this is super-cool. I’m glad British GQ didn’t try to give an award to Harry or William just because they’re younger and they might hit a certain demographic. It feels like Charles has really come into his own, to a certain extent. For years he was deemed “uncool” or bookish, or an environmental wingnut. But Charles has lived long enough for his interests to be recognized as cool and inspirational. Charles deserves a lot of credit for all of his philanthropic work, especially The Prince’s Trust. But I do worry that The Prince’s Trust in particular will start to fall apart because William and Harry have no interest in running it in the years to come.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2018

Here are some photos of Jeff Goldblum at last night’s GQ Men of the Year Awards. He attended the show in a gold velvet jacket, with his wife on his arm. His wife is Emilie Livingston, and they have two sons together – Charlie Ocean and River Joe. Both boys are pretty young – Jeff got started somewhat late with the whole fatherhood thing – he’s 65, and his wife is 35. Still, no one says much about it because we are living in The Goldblum Age. It’s another one of those things where suddenly, the historically uncool guy is now the cool guy. Everyone loves Jeff Goldblum now. Recently, Jeff talked about how he’s become a sex symbol and internet zaddy.

How he feels about being called daddy/zaddy: “It’s sweet. Isn’t that sexy talk? I think it means sexy talk. Sometimes they say ‘zaddy.’ What’s that mean?… The spicy daddy. Yeah, sure. I like it. Zaddy!”

Dad shoes & his fascination with his wife: Goldblum also spoke of his fixation with “dad shoes,” particularly the Balenciaga Triple S. He said when he first brought home a pair of the shoes in gray, his son and wife, Emilie Livingston, made relentless fun of him, chanting “dad shoe.” But Livingston supposedly soon picked up a colorful pair of her own, and according to Goldblum, he “love[s] to see her in them. She’s so sexy in them. She’s a gymnast, she still possesses the most beautiful body I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said, intermittently stopping to pant. “Her legs are just perfect sculptures. She puts on a socklet, and she puts on that shoe with a dress. We’ve been together 7 years, but I’m still … deeply fascinated.”

[From The Cut]

Is Jeff Goldblum truly a zaddy? I don’t know. I think it’s funny that suddenly he’s everywhere and being recognized as a salt-and-pepper zaddy, but let’s not get too crazy: this too shall pass.

US3818_cover_ns-jennifer-garner

Just yesterday, US Magazine, Jennifer Garner’s outlet of choice for years published new quotes from her about her unwavering support for Ben Affleck. She earned the cover again right in time for the release of her action thriller, Peppermint. The last time Jen covered US it was all about “Her new life! Happier and sexier than ever!” but this time she “Can’t let go.” I doubt she approved this cover but these quotes are likely from her people. Here’s what she told them, about how she’ll always support Ben no matter what. Hm.

“After everything they’ve been through, she is going to continue to be there for him when he needs her,” an insider reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. “No matter the circumstances.”

“Jen just wants Ben to be the best father he can be,” says a Garner confidant. “She wants to give their kids the best life possible.”

“Ben and Jen are on good terms,” adds the confidant. “Yes, he does things that piss her off, but she puts her feelings aside for the kids. They both want what’s best for them and have made a commitment to see that through.”

They are, however, no longer committed to each other. Despite delayed divorce proceedings, “they are not getting back together or even considering it,” says the insider. (According to TMZ, the duo finally reached a settlement, which Affleck will sign when he is released from rehab.) In fact, Garner prefers facing life solo — for now. “She is content being single,” says a second insider. “She is just fine being with her kids.”

[From US Magazine]

I’m sure in this case “no matter the circumstance” means “no matter how drunk and stupid Ben looks dating young models with poor grammar,” but it’s a little tone deaf all things considered. There are unforgivable acts and there are garbage toxic people from whom you need to detach, whether they’re family or not. I don’t think the things we know about Affleck have put him at that level, but maybe her people should rethink the blanket statements.

Speaking of Ben dating young models, he was spotted at his house earlier this week taking a break from rehab. Paparazzi agency X17 points out that Shauna Sexton’s car was at Ben’s house on Sunday too. Don’t worry though, he’s just there to exercise! Because the rehab facility where he’s staying surely doesn’t have an exercise room, right? Because a sober companion couldn’t have accompanied Ben to any high end exclusive exercise facility in the area. People, US and TMZ have damage control reports explaining the sighting of Ben at home and stating that he has a coach and therapist with him.

“Ben is working out at his house,” the insider says. “He goes home to his gym to work out with his trainers.”

“Since last week, he’s been driven from the clinic every day from rehab to the house to work out,” the insider explains. “For a few hours a day. He’s always accompanied by his coach and therapist.” – People

A source tells Us Weekly that the actor is still in treatment, but he is allowed to leave the clinic to “work out at his gym for a few hours a day.”

“He was playing basketball,” the source added, noting that Affleck, 46, is “always accompanied by his coach and therapist.” – US Magazine

So Ben leaves rehab for “a few hours” to work out at home every day. Isn’t the point of rehab to be away from people, places and things? You don’t get that at home. Meanwhile X17 reports that Jen picked Ben up at the airport, at Van Nuys, on Friday and that he spent that night at his former residence with her and the kids. So why aren’t all the other outlets reporting this? I google mapped this. He is reportedly at a rehab in Malibu, which is an hour drive west from LA. The Van Nuys airport is a half hour drive north-west. How does it make sense for him to fly? I guess he’s rich and didn’t feel like driving.

ET is reporting that Ben is back at rehab, there are photos of him being driven there, and E! claims he’s so super serious about it this time around and can’t even leave, you guys. This is what E! reported Tuesday:

This isn’t like the other rehabs he has done in the past. This is a residential program, and he is staying on property. He is not at the point where he has a lot of freedom or is able to leave. He is doing intense counseling and spending a lot of time in meetings and therapy. He also has time in his day to workout and spend time outside in the mountain.

[From E!]

And his back tattoo is totally fake!
