I don’t know if I’m proud of myself for not going hog wild on the Amazon Prime sale or if I’m going to regret not buying things I could have saved on. I do need a new printer and laptop, but I feel like the ones I have work fine. My purchases include an Instant Pot (finally!) and just one other kitchen product. I’m excited to use the Instant Pot to make meals but I have been too busy to try it the last couple of nights. Let me know if you have any chicken recipes or any other vegetarian recipes you like (I can’t have pork or beef). I definitely found recipes to try at Skinnytaste and appreciate that recommendation. As always please let me know if you have product recommendations!

An ultrasonic jewelry cleaner

I’ve been on a jewelry kick lately and just got so many cute pieces from my local antiques store. Some of the stuff needs cleaning and the chemical cleaner I have can strip cheaper jewelry. Launica Angelina recommended this ultrasonic jewelry cleaner (I think she said she saw it here but I don’t remember posting it). This has 4.1 stars, over 3,300 reviews and an A from Fakespot. People call it “far better” than they expected, praise how fast it works, just three minutes per cycle, and say they’re amazed at how dirty their jewelry was. They also like the fact that you don’t have to scrub at all to get your jewelry polished. Many reviewers recommend adding Dawn dishwasher soap for better results.

A slip dress that can be layered or worn alone
Amazon_SlipDress
Someone ordered this dress through one of our affiliate links (the reports tell me what people ordered but I usually don’t even check it and you should see the stuff I order) and now I want it! It would be so cute as a little night dress , a slip or even layered under a light jacket or t-shirt. It comes in sizes x-small to xxx-large, and in 9 colors. Every dress is under $15.88 with some options even cheaper. This has 4.4 stars, 483 reviews and an A from Fakespot. Women say it’s made of a “soft, stretchy, lightweight knit fabric with spandex,” that it “fits well all over” and that “the straps are adjustable” so you can make it higher or shorter. I definitely need a slip for some of my sheer dresses and will be ordering this.

A moisture-proof pill box with so many uses
Amazon_PillOrganizer
Giddy sent this product in to our text/voicemail line, (434) 218-3219?, and said that she has two, one which she’s used for earrings and jewelry and another for solid perfume she makes, because she’s crafty like that. (My words.) This would be so nice to use as a travel case for jewelry! I have a soft case for jewelry I got from one of those bag parties but this looks better because you can see all your options at once. This large pill organizer measures 1.6 x 4 x 5.7 inches, has eight compartments and is made of food-grade plastic. People call it “well constructed,” say it “holds just the right amount of pills” and is a great alternative to those day of the week pill boxes. It also works well for organizing and saving space on pills at home.

A three pack of contoured light-blocking sleep masks for $9!
Amazon_SleepMasks
I nap early and often, and am always misplacing my eye masks. This three pack of adjustable sleep masks is such a bargain at $9. They have over 2,000 reviews, 4.4 stars and a B from Fakespot. People say that they “sufficiently block out the light,” and are made of “soft, breathable material” that stays cool. They’re said to “always do the trick” and reviewers like the fact that “they are concaved so they don’t press against your eyes.”

A stylish and versatile travel backpack
Amazon_Backpack3
This large travel backpack by Himawari comes in 20 different color block options and is large enough to hold a laptop. It measures 16.5 x 11.4 x 7 inches and has plenty of pockets and zippers to organize your stuff. It can be used as a diaper bag too. It has almost 300 reviews, 4.4 stars and an A from Fakespot. It’s also affordable at under $37. Reviewers call it “great value for the price” and say it’s “super sturdy and cute” and “very durable.”

A six piece set of stainless steel kitchen knives for just $23.17
Amazon_AwesomeKnives
You may not realize that your kitchen knives are old and dull, but once you replace them it makes a world of difference. These colorful stainless steel kitchen knives by Zyliss have a five year guarantee and are dishwasher safe. You get six knives of different sizes including a paring knife, chef’s knife and utility knife for under $25! You can also purchase individual knives if you don’t need that many. Trump Departs for Greenville, NC

I still find Donald Trump’s Nazi rally cry of “lock her up” to be one of the most disturbing things in modern politics. “Lock her up” started as a Hillary Clinton-specific chant during the 2016 campaign, and it’s still horrifying to think of the way Trump criminalized Clinton for… those f–king emails. And that’s it. That’s why Hillary Clinton needed to be “locked up.” Over time, “lock her up” evolved to a Deplorable chant for any and all women who displeased Trump. It was a not-so-subtle way to criminalize any and all women for not supporting him, or for being free-thinking, or for not being Nazis. His Nazi-misogynist supporters would chant “lock her up” about Christine Blasey Ford and other victims of sexual assault, including women who have accused Trump of sexual assault.

Well, “lock her up” has gone through another evolution and it’s become “Send Her Back.” Trump threw himself another Nazi rally last night and he decided to continue with his racist attacks on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts. When he got to Rep. Ilhan Omar, this is what happened:

Again, there is no bottom. This was always the evolution – first he demonized Hillary Clinton, then he demonized victims of sexual assault, now he’s demonizing women of color and congresswomen. He’s saying there is something inherently anti-American in brown and black skin, there’s something anti-American with refusing to become one of his Nazi supporters, and on and on. It’s as racist as it gets. It’s as disturbing as it gets. And not only is morally reprehensible just as-is, but he’s also inciting violence against these women, especially Rep. Omar.

Her response:

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.

The response of some people who were watching the Nazi rally:

I have covered fascist rallies and Trump rallies.

This Trump rally was a fascist rally.

— Christopher Mathias (@letsgomathias) July 18, 2019

They’re trying to get Ilhan Omar killed. It’s that simple.

— Mehdi Hasan (@mehdirhasan) July 18, 2019

Worried for Omar. This man is putting her life in danger. I dunno what else to say that isn’t obvious.

— k austin collins (@melvillmatic) July 18, 2019

This is racist. If you’re chanting this, you’re a racist. If you’re a journalist asking white people if this is racist—you’re an idiot. https://t.co/ewOdrKlWmM

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex is at The Lion King Premiere

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor isn’t even three months old! Think about how many times we’ve already seen Meghan postpartum. She is taking it easy and enjoying her maternity leave and time with Archie, but she’s also made several public appearances, and it seems clear that she’s working behind the scenes too. She and Harry have already booked a trip to Southern Africa in the fall, and it’s widely believed that Meghan will be back to full-time work starting September/October.

Something else that happened during Meghan’s maternity leave is that she and Harry exited the Royal Foundation, and it was likely Prince William pushing them out. Which was fine, in the end, because the Sussexes wanted to do their own foundation, and of course they’ve already named it and started putting everything together. The name of the new foundation? Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. I mean, that’s what it is now, with no comma or colon. It would be better as The Sussex Royal Foundation or Sussex Royal: The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Here’s Emily Andrews’ exclusive (she’s broken several big stories about the Sussexes):

Exclusive: #Harry & #Meghan’s new foundation will be called “Sussex Royal” (full title “Sussex Royal The Foundation of the D&D of Sussex). Its 4 directors are the Sussexes, PR guru Sara Latham & former Royal Foundation staffer Natalie Campbell, who will be the new director. pic.twitter.com/604czSjQEw

— Emily Andrews (@byEmilyAndrews) July 17, 2019

We stan a ginger prince who surrounds himself with smart women in positions of power!! Seriously, there are four people acting on the board of directors and three out of the four are women! Sara Latham is the American-British political advisor/communications expert who worked for Hillary Clinton’s campaign, and Latham now works as the Sussexes’ communications honcho (she’s the Poor Jason of Sussex Royal Inc). Natalie Campbell is the charity/organizer who used to work for the Royal Foundation until she decided to work full time for the Sussexes. Campbell and Latham join Meghan and Harry on the board of directors. Amazing!

Even though this is mostly great news, I do hope that there is a subtle change to the name of the foundation. Just add a comment or a colon, please.

Katy Perry is expanding her brand, although maybe not in the direction we anticipated. Katy and fiancé Orlando Bloom swear so strongly in favor of enemas, they are investing in an organic apple cider company so they can have all the enemas they want. Talk about believing in your own sh!t. Katy and Orlando practice Panca Karma, which is an Ayurveda cleanse to remove harmful toxins from the body. According to Katy’s interview on the Australian radio show Smallzy’s Surgery, they’re not only into things like “health” and “self-betterment places,” but they rely on these practices to fight off the effects of aging.

Katy Perry has revealed she has a secret to good health – and it involves something rather unpleasant.

Speaking to Australian radio show Smallzy’s Surgery on Nova 1069, the 34-year-old says she practices Panca Karma to combat the effects of ‘getting older’.

The singer said: ‘I’m kind of into those type of things, like health and healing places and self-betterment places.

‘Especially as you get older and you have longer hangovers you realise the cells in my body are dying. I did this thing called Panca Karma, it’s basically Ayurvedic eating and cleansing, you do lots of enemas.’

Panca Karma is a series of ‘karmas’ or purification procedures designed to improve health hand well-being.

Ayurvedic eating involves consuming whole or minimally processed foods and practising ‘mindful eating’.

Katy explained the benefits: ‘you definitely feel more energy, it basically like gets all the c**p out of you, every pun intended.’

Both the American Idol star and her fiancé Orlando Bloom are interested in ‘new age’ healing methods.

‘There are ancient ways to heal yourself beside just taking a pill, which is something I always love to investigate.

[From The Daily Mail via DListed]

I know enemas will likely be inevitable in my medical future but at this point, doing, “lots of enemas,” is not a selling point for me. I am, however, aging and I definitely notice a difference in how my body responds to things. (And by “responds” I mean “it no longer does.”) I’m cool with my crow’s feet and my hair’s grey streak, but I dislike getting winded walking up a flight of stairs. However, the hangover cure is a pretty simple fix: if your recovery metabolism is slowing down, slow down your drinking. I don’t advise cleanses as a rule, but they definitely shouldn’t be your go-to hangover cure. But this is Katy – she wants to be edgy and New Age-y at the same time so, yeah, this is on brand for her.

However, Katy’s Instagram announcing her investment sheds a bit more light on her decision – she goes way back with the nominal head of the company, Patricia Bragg, who gave Katy her first guitar:

View this post on Instagram

Cheers to @bragglivefoodproducts ? Patricia Bragg gave me my first guitar at the age of 13 in Santa Barbara, and now @orlandobloom and I are so proud to be part of her next chapter. Just like the gift of music, the gift of health keeps on giving ???

A post shared by KATY PERRY (@katyperry) on Jun 26, 2019 at 10:49am PDT

Whereas the multiple enemas don’t entice me, I think organic apple cider vinegar with a 100-year-old established company is a pretty safe bet as far as investments go. So if Katy and Orlando want to work this into their new purified selves, aiight. Personally, I’m going to avoid my hangovers by eliminating the gin in my gin & tonics and save my apple cider vinegar for my braised cabbage.

Good Omens World Premiere

Michael Sheen has a now-college-aged daughter with his ex-girlfriend Kate Beckinsale. Sheen also dated Rachel McAdams for years, then Sarah Silverman for years, then he broke up with Silverman and moved back to the UK, where he started dating Aisling Bea for a time. But recently, there were reports that Sheen and Bea were done and that he was now dating a young Swede named Anna Lundberg. Sheen is now 50 years old. Anna Lundberg is 25 years old, literally half his age. And now she’s pregnant. Oh, lord.

Micheal Sheen has announced his new Swedish actress girlfriend Anna Lundberg is expecting a baby on Twitter on Wednesday. It was only revealed on Tuesday the couple, who have an age gap of 25 years, were dating but the pair were romantically linked in May after a series of cosy social media snaps. Michael, who already has 20-year-old daughter Lily Mo Sheen with his ex Kate Beckinsale, was delighted to share the news he was going to be a dad again.

He tweeted: ‘Very happy to let everyone know that my partner Anna and I are expecting a little angel of our own. (Just to be clear, we’re having a baby!) #nottheantichrist.’

Michael’s new relationship with the Swedish star comes just months after he split from his comedian ex Aisling Bea in March. The split comes just four months before his happy baby news with his new love Anna. The Far From The Madding Crowd star has been swept up in a whirlwind romance with Anna since the couple went Instagram official in May. Anna, who bills herself as a ‘Swedish/NYC actress currently living in the UK’, shared a series of loved-up snaps with Michael as she accompanied him to the New York screening and London world premiere of his new show, Good Omens.

[From The Daily Mail]

I don’t mean to be rude about this, but was this a fling that turned into a pregnancy and they just decided to make a go of it? Because that’s the best explanation for the timeline. I also want to believe that Michael Sheen is straight with his girlfriends when they first meet, and he just tells them flat-out that he’s not interested in marriage. Beckinsale has said before that she hoped they would marry eventually (when they were together), and she was disappointed when he never wanted to. So, I hope he learned from that experience and he hasn’t led these women on. I’ll admit it, when I first read the news, I felt a pang of sympathy for Sarah Silverman. She really loved him and he… really did not want to live in America anymore.

Very happy to let everyone know that my partner Anna and I are expecting a little angel of our own. (Just to be clear – we’re having a baby!) #nottheantichrist ??????????gbwls

Just Wendy with lymphedema machine. 45min every day. #lymphedema #flexitouch #gethelp

A post shared by Wendy Williams (@wendyshow) on Jul 15, 2019 at 5:05pm PDT

Wendy Williams has had a rough year and a half. In February 2018, she disclosed that she had been diagnosed with Graves’ disease, which is an autoimmune disorder that causes hyperthyroidism. Her doctor had ordered that she take a three-week hiatus at the time. It was also alleged by a concerned third party that Wendy’s then-husband, alleged abuser Kevin Hunter, was poisoning her while she was home resting. Kevin was reluctant to let the two officers who went to investigate talk alone with Wendy, who claimed that she was recovering from a broken shoulder. This spring, she filed for divorce from Kevin, whose alleged mistress gave birth shortly before. After saying that she was ready to start dating again, Wendy is currently dating an ex-convict.

You’d think after all that she’s gone through over the past several months, Wendy would get a bit of a break. On Monday, she shared a picture of her lymphedema treatment on Instagram, a week after revealing on her show that she had been diagnosed with the condition:

Wendy Williams… 54, shared a photo of herself receiving her daily 45-minute treatment for the chronic condition as she lounged on a couch in a yellow robe.

While gazing out the window with her blonde hair covering her face, Williams wore thigh-high compression wraps on her legs and sat beside the large Flexitouch device with tubes used to stimulate the lymphatic system.

“Just Wendy with lymphedema machine. 45min every day. #lymphedema #flexitouch #gethelp,” she captioned the photo on Instagram.

According to the Mayo Clinic, lymphedema is a chronic condition that causes swelling, usually in the arms or legs, when someone’s lymphatic system is compromised — such as when lymph nodes are damaged or removed, which can cause a blockage that creates the swelling.

As of right now, there is no cure, but [it] can be managed with early diagnosis.

The photo comes just one week after the star, who previously took a lengthy hiatus due to health concerns, revealed on The Wendy Williams show that she had been diagnosed with lymphedema.

While talking about paparazzi shots that showed her swollen ankles on the July 8 show, Williams explained the reason behind their puffiness was due to her new health condition.
“Lymphedema, by the way, I’ve been diagnosed,” she told the audience. “It’s not going to kill me, but I do have a machine — and how dare you talk about the swelling of it all.”

Williams reassured her fans that she was doing alright despite the new diagnosis and even joked that the machine that helps alleviate her swelling is a huge hit at parties.

“I’ve got it under control. If [the swelling] in my feet never goes all the way down, at least I have this machine,” she explained. “I sit for 45 minutes a day. It’s the best party entertainer ever. Everybody [that] comes over wants to do it.”

[From People]

I’m so sorry to hear that Wendy is living with yet another health issue. I know from friends that lymphedema can be quite painful, and that the swelling also makes it difficult to find clothes that fit comfortably and well. I am glad that Wendy has been diagnosed so that she’s able to get the proper treatment, and it’s helpful that she’s able to have it at home, rather than needing to go to a doctor’s office every day. I love that she has a sense of humor about it, too. I hope that her health continues to improve and that she’s able to keep her Graves disease and lymphedema managed as much as possible. I also wish for her that she gets to focus on being happy and enjoying life without any other unplanned potentially distressing interruptions.

I was really happy with the Emmy nominations this year. I’ve only recently become an avid TV watcher and many of the shows I love were in the mix, so this is very exciting for me. I’m so happy for Schitt’s Creek, VEEP, The Good Place, When They See Us and definitely Russian Doll, which got 13 nominations, including one for its lead, Natasha Lyonne. Natasha, of course, also wrote and produced the show so this really is her baby. She deserves to revel in what I still find to be one of the most interestingly written storylines I’ve ever seen. And that weight of those 13 nominations are not lost on Natasha, who was a little overwhelmed with Tuesday’s announcements.

Congratulations on the nominations! How are you feeling?
It feels very, I don’t know the word that keeps coming to me, but it’s creatively affirming more than anything to know how hard we worked and how scary it was to dive into the deep end on this show. It feels very encouraging to keep on that train. I’m just in awe of life and all its curiosities. Life takes on so many different rides, and today is a very good day, a very encouraging, good day.

I think as a creator, as a writer, it feels huge knowing how hard everybody works at various phases of this. Amy [Poehler] and Allison [Silverman] as the writers of the show to be recognized — and it was such a beast writing this thing, and making sure that they’re all connected.

How many nominations was it, 13?
I think so, which is good. Because 13 is a great number — 13 and 666: those are my two favorite numbers.

If you do happen to win, where would you put that award?
I would immediately donate it to science. I know that we’re all planning on moving to Mars very soon, because of environmental issues, so I want to make sure that the Emmy arrives there first. I’m hoping that other people are obviously considering that, you know, it’s important.

I feel like whatever this is, it’s definitely a heavily jinxing conversation so the superstitious person in me doesn’t really like this line of questioning, if I’m honest. I’m inclined to give you ridiculous answers because it feels too surreal to even consider.

Most inanimate object to find a home. I have my SAG Award from Orange is the New Black on the piano.

[From People]

I’ll be a bit conflicted Emmy Night because Natasha is up for the same category as Catherine O‘Hara and Julia Louise-Dreyfus. Julia has won it so many times but the last season of VEEP – and her work in it – was so, so good. But I’d be okay if she didn’t win and I’m almost positive Julia would be too. And speaking of okay, I bet every woman in that category would be just fine with it going to Catherine, who should have all the awards. But I would really like to see Russian Doll get the win for writing. I love that Natasha’s superstition prevents her from giving totally straight answers. I wish I could be that clever off the bat.

Some of Natasha’s early work, American Pie just celebrated its 20th anniversary. Natasha told Lola Ogunnaike of Couchsurfing that she turned the film down several times before agreeing to do it. She didn’t care about the sex or other mistreatment of fruit desserts, but the general “fratty, suburban high school experience,” that she couldn’t identify with. And when Lola asked her what made her say yes in the end, Natasha very honestly said it was the money. But like Natasha said, that film funded her independent film career for quite some time, so I think we all won there.
