Happy Friday, y’all. I don’t know about you but between my personal world and the world around us, these past few weeks have been a real emotional roller coaster. So how about we just indulge in a little real estate porn this morning and get back to business on Monday?

Actress Meryl Street listed her Tribeca penthouse for a cool $24.6 million. Meryl and husband Don Gummer have owned the pad for about 12 years. The building itself was converted from a masonry warehouse but was converted to River Lofts in 2003 by architects Tsao & McKown, so the building is historic but the lofts are modern – the best of both worlds! Meryl’s penthouse has four bedrooms, four and a half a baths, kitchen with sub-zero, two living rooms, dining room and a few bonus rooms tucked away for you to decide what to do with later. If the photos below aren’t enough to stoke your architectural-loving fires, check out Hola’s write up of the place:

Nestled high above the glistening Hudson River is a glamorous New York City penthouse befitting of a Queen. And, in fact, a Queen did once dwell there: the Empress of Hollywood herself, Meryl Streep. The three time Oscar-winner and her husband Don Gummer have listed their spacious TriBeca home in the River Lofts condominium for $24.6 million. Curbed first broke the news, citing that the famous couple signed for the downtown dream back in 2006, shelling out $10.13 million at the time. Well, now it seems the moment has come for some new lucky residents to enjoy the expansive pad at 92 Laight street, which boasts four bedrooms and various other stunning features.

First, you step off the secured elevator into a private vestibule. Upon twisting the front door open, you are immediately greeted by rays of natural light. The sky lit entertaining room welcomes you, with two living areas and a dining room spilling out before you, surrounded by walls of three-paned windows. Brazilian walnut plank floors grace the rooms throughout, according to the listing.

The apartment is 3,944 square feet, a mansion by NYC standards, and fully utilizes its size by keeping everything open. A modern wood-burning fireplace separates the two living room areas, giving the space an elegant flair.

Tsao & McKown architects expertly executed their mission to design a modern ode to the neighborhood’s older buildings.

[From Hola! USA]

Oh, it goes on from there but if I keep quoting it, I’m going to need a cigarette. You can see all the listing photos here. I love huge windows and wide-open spaces but honest to Christmas I’d buy it for the views alone. The all-light-wood interior wouldn’t be my first choice, but I could live with it. All I need now is *checks wallet* $24.6 M and a reason to live in New York. The building has all the modern conveniences like a 24-hour doorman, fitness center for rich ladies to sit around in designer workout wear and gossip about fellow neighbors, a bicycle room for bicycles, I assume, and an indoor garage. Of course, I’d be too busy staring at the views to need any of those things… maybe the doorman to bring up my pizza.

So where od Meryl going now that her little pied-à-terre in New York is up for grabs? She’s coming to my coast and into a house I covet even more than this penthouse. Meryl and Don bought a mid-century house in Pasadena for under $4M. The new place was designed by Smith and Williams and hasn’t been on the market since the ‘60s. You can see pictures here. It reminds me very much of the mid-century, sprawling estate Rachel Bilson bought last year that I love so much, I have bookmarked the site so I can drool over the photos whenever I’m down.

Mmmmm, rich people’s real estate. Now that’s the way to slide into the weekend.

I’m not sure what’s cuter, the cute teddy bear driving the Bentley truck or True’s cheeks and smile ? Thank you Auntie Kimora and family for the precious gift! ???

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on Aug 23, 2018 at 1:49pm PDT

I was going to make a big deal about materialism and celebrities spending their money on dumb things which their kids will outgrow in a few months, but I’m not feeling it. Khloe Kardashian posted some Instagrams of her daughter’s new gift: a baby-sized Bentley. Kimora Lee Simmons sent True Thompson this baby gift, and this is not the first time Kimora has sent baby-cars to members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan: Stormi Webster and Chicago West have also gotten baby-sized cars too. Here’s what I didn’t know: these baby-sized cars are relatively inexpensive. They’re sold at, like, Walmart and JC Penney and cost anywhere from $200-600.

Khloe Kardashian revealed on her Instagram Story that Kimora also gifted toy Bentley cars to Kylie Jenner’s baby girl Stormi Webster and Kim Kardashian’s youngest daughter Chicago West.

“Oh my God! I just came back from the gym and look what Kimora Lee sent to the girls!” Khloe said in one Instagram Story video. “This one is for Stormi, this is for Chicago, this is for my True mama. Oh my God! Thank you, thank you.” She then shared a photo of the three toy cars with the caption, “Ahhh I’m dying over this!!!”

In the comments of Khloe’s Instagram post of True in the mini Bentley, one social media user wrote, “She should of receive a cross or a bible so this child grows closer to God as opposed to embedding materialism in her brain.”

In response, Khloe clapped back, “We read children’s bible stories everyday and we say prayers every single night but you should not pass judgement either way. Why be so negative if you are a child of God?”

[From E! News]

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… I actually agree with Khloe just a little bit on this one thing. It’s not like she went out and bought True a REAL Bentley. Kimora sent it as a gift, and all of the cousins got baby Bentleys. Yes, it is materialistic and yes, the babies won’t care about their baby Bentleys in a week. But still… it’s really not that big of a deal where someone should piously sit there and mock Khloe on Twitter. Also: Khloe has really got to stop responding to those people too.

Lainey and I haven’t sent a text to each other this week that wasn’t about To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. We have major Peter Kavinsky problems. I’ve watched the movie so many times I’ve decided that Netflix should have an instant replay button. The ‘Watch it Again?’ section isn’t enough. YES, I…

This is such a vintage royal drama, and it absolutely fits in with the sleepy royal “news” of the month of August. Apparently, “royal sleuths” decided to re-watch Prince William and then-Kate Middleton’s engagement interview, and they have found something VERY suspicious. It seems like Prince William lied or “fudged the truth” a bit about the first time Kate met the Queen. Keep in mind, Kate and William met before university, as we learned at some point. People always assumed that they met at university, but they had friends in common before then, and I completely believe that Kate had been trying to throw herself in William’s path long before they ever got together. So, they finally did get together in 2002, at some point. And for years, William and Kate were somewhat off-and-on (even Katie Nicholl has admitted that they broke up several times in their college years and beyond), but Kate always stuck around. And for years, William never introduced Kate to the Queen. When Kate first met the Queen, it was 2008. And William has a false memory of being there.

Royal watchers have been left confused after Prince William seemed to suggest that he was present at Kate’s first meeting with the Queen back in 2008. Kate was introduced to the monarch when she attended the wedding of William’s first cousin Peter Phillips in Windsor. Kate attended solo, without her then-boyfriend, who was abroad in Kenya – and at the time it made headlines because Kate going in the Prince’s place was a big sign that their relationship was serious.

But during the couple’s joint engagement interview with the BBC in 2010, William seemed to suggest that he was at the wedding. When asked what it was like to meet William’s grandmother for the first time, Kate said: “Well I first met her at Peter and Autumn’s wedding and again it was in amongst a lot of other guests. She was very friendly, and yes, it was fine.”

William, sensing his then-fiancée’s nerves during the very personal televised interview, chimed in: “She was very welcoming. She knew it was a big day and everything was going on with Peter and Autumn, she had wanted to meet Kate for a while, so it was very nice for her to come over and say hello, we had a little chat and got on really well.”

Back in 2008, William was unable to make Peter and Autumn’s wedding, which is why his comments in the interview have caused confusion. The Prince was abroad in Kenya attending the wedding of his ex-girlfriend Jecca Craig’s brother. William has always remained close with the Craig family and accepted the invite for the Masaai-themed wedding. In 2016, he again flew to Kenya to attend Jecca’s own wedding. Despite not having a date, Kate was in good company as she attended the Windsor nuptials with Prince Harry and his girlfriend at the time, Chelsy Davy. The then Miss Middleton looked lovely at the wedding, which was covered exclusively by HELLO!, wearing a pale pink jacket, a sheer black top and full skirt, matching her veiled pillbox hat.

[From Hello]

I think it’s interesting that William had a false memory about this, just as I think it’s interesting that Kate first met the Queen when William wasn’t even there. Kate was on the Queen’s radar for years before that meeting, and it was the Queen who reportedly let it be known back in 2005-06-ish that she was disturbed by the fact that Kate didn’t have a job. That’s why Kate worked for a few months at Jigsaw, a part-time job she quit for no real reason. The Queen was also – reportedly – the one who told William that he couldn’t keep stringing Kate along in 2010, and that he absolutely could not live with Kate in military housing without being engaged to her. I’m just providing some additional context here: the Queen knew of Kate before they met. The Queen seemed to actively seek out some time with Kate while William was not around. William never bothered to introduce Kate to the Queen for six years. What does it all mean??

And yes this is just an excuse to post old photos.

Taylor Swift reputation Stadium Tour

PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn look lovely in London! https://t.co/UMs87LfG3N pic.twitter.com/kuAPV5YfRX

— Daily Mail Celebrity (@DailyMailCeleb) August 23, 2018

It’s been somewhat quiet in Taylor Swift’s world for a few weeks. That tends to happen while she’s on tour – she only makes news when she wants to, and if she doesn’t want to, she just keeps her head down and does her concerts. But on Wednesday, Taylor was in London and she and Joe Alwyn got pap’d. They were to dinner at Hawksmoor, a steak joint in Covent Garden. Personally, I had no idea Taylor was even in England right now, which goes to show you: she can really travel undercover when she wants to. The exclusive photos at the Daily Mail make me wonder if Taylor has quietly purchased a place in London too.

Anyway, there are always some rumors about the state of Tay and Joe’s relationship. They’re either breaking up or about to get engaged according to the Snake Fam (or general Snake Watchers). Joe seems to be sticking around though. Taylor’s still wearing her “J” necklace too. What do you think? Maybe an engagement announcement around Taylor’s birthday in December? That’s the timeline I looking at – she wouldn’t want to get engaged so soon after Karlie announced her engagement. That would be too obvious, even for Tay. But mid-December? I’ve just convinced myself that we’ll get an engagement announcement then.

Meanwhile, it seems like all of the gloom-and-doom reports of the poor sales for Tay’s Reputation Tour weren’t really true. Taylor just broke her own record for the highest-grossing tour led by a woman in the US, and Team Swift claims that every concert has been a sellout.

Yesterday, I wrote that the majority of the space in my brain reserved for crushes in the past week has been dedicated to Peter Kavinsky. I think Michael Bae Jordan was paying attention. It’s the only explanation for why he posted a two part Instagram video of himself, in a kitchen, cooking an epic …

Before just this very moment, I had no idea that Scott Eastwood has a podcast. It’s called Live Life Better, and it seems like Scott is trying to do some kind of, like, Bro Goop. Goop For Bros? Granted, I’m saying that after listening to the podcast for only about three minutes, but it feels vaguely similar. Scott is preaching sex health, feelings, getting in touch with inner sensitive broseph, that sort of thing. I bet Gwyneth Paltrow could EASILY convince Scott Eastwood to steam-clean his bro parts for fake-science. In Scott’s latest Bro Feelings podcast, he talks to a lady about sex. You can hear the podcast here. Some highlights:

He’s a giver: Eastwood, 32, admitted he is “having sex, lots of it” while he’s “single and dating.” The actor also said that he’s “had a lot of sex” and called himself as “a giver” in bed. When Eastwood’s guest — sex and relationship expert Emily Morse, 48 — asked whether he is having sex with one person or multiple people, Eastwood replied, “It depends on when you ask me.”

He’s always been sexually advanced: “I remember in early-on relationships — when I was in my early, early 20s — I felt more sexually advanced than some of the people I was with. So then trying to reverse-engineer to grow with them, it can be tough.”

Sex is natural, sex is fun: Sex “the most natural thing we as human beings do… Sex is healthy, people. Don’t shame it. Embrace it. Embrace it. Yes, that’s right. We’re talking about everything sex. How to have healthy sex. How to have some not-so-healthy sex. Dirty sex. More sex. Everyone should be having sex with themselves or with someone else.”

No more slut shaming: “I think there’s a shaming thing too with women, which really sucks, where they use these terrible words like ‘w—e’ and ‘slut’. And instead of embracing sexual culture, women put each other down. And it’s like, why the f—k would you call them that? Just because they f—ked somebody? Don’t do that — you’re bringing down the culture.”

[From People]

A few things. Do you look at Scott Eastwood’s face and think “that’s a man who is a sexual giver?” No. I do not. That’s the face of a guy who thinks he’s great in bed but it probably average-to-no-bueno. It’s almost worse when the guy THINKS he’s an amazing lover and it’s so far from reality. As for his comments on slut-shaming… I’m not going to shade him for that, more bros need to speak up on the issue of slut-shaming, because bros are some of the biggest perpetrators of slut-shaming. Scott seems to think that slut-shaming is merely a girl-on-girl crime, but he’s wrong. Sometimes it’s ladies slut-shaming other ladies, but often it’s men (bros or Congressmen) who take it upon themselves to regulate and judge a lady’s sexual escapades. It does bring down the culture though, I 100% agree with him on that!!

ET Online has an hilarious take from a source close to Tori Spelling (read: Tori) who insists that everything is going to be great with Tori’s relationship with Dean, with her finances and with her career. It’s a look into the way she deludes herself and the press, which we’ve seen from her for years. However she could be right. She’s making bank on Instagram endorsing crap, she’s still a lesser celebrity and she can probably turn her debt around with the help of an accountant and her mom. Plus Dean has nowhere to go. They’re likely miserable but he’s not going to leave. Some of the quotes contradict Tori’s previous claims that she wanted more children and can handle it all on her own. She doesn’t work a full time job out of the house (she does do side hustle stuff and Instagram) and she insists that caring for five kids is impossible without help. I mean I couldn’t do it but a lot of moms with big families would disagree. Here are the quotes in ET:

A source tells ET that the two have recently “started counseling” following a series of chaotic events — including a few incidents where police were called — that occurred earlier this year.

“Tori and Dean are very much in love and have dedicated themselves to improving their marriage. They built a family together and plan on raising their kids as a team,” a source says of the couple, who share five children together. “They realized things got completely out of hand when their blowout fights became very public. As painful as that period has been in their life, it was also very eye-opening for them.”

“Tori and Dean see Tori’s experience as a nervous breakthrough rather than a nervous breakdown, because it led them back to the right path and a healthier life together,” the source says. “They both looked at what they were giving up by losing one another, and were willing and ready to do what it takes to make their relationship work.”

“They started counseling again and turned everything around,” the source adds. “They realized that most of their stress stemmed from their money issues. They’re now working closely with an accountant to help fix their financial situation. They’ve since made some big changes.”

A pressure has also been “lifted” ever since McDermott began working again, according to the source.

“Their family dynamic is completely different,” the source claims. “Tori loves Dean and wants him to have success. She also wants her mother to be happy. She’s relied on her mother for help and her mother has always felt Dean needed to contribute. So this is truly a win-win situation.”

The source says Tori still feels outnumbered by their five kids — Liam, 11, Stella, 10, Hattie, 6, Finn, 5, and Beau, 1 — but has been working overtime to be the best mother she can be for them.

“She never gave herself a break,” the source claims. “Now she’s balancing everything with the help of some extra childcare. Having full-time help is expensive, but taking care of five children on your own is close to impossible.”

“Tori definitely wants to work again, and is considering several reality show opportunities, but her team seems to be encouraging her to go back to scripted television,” the source continues. “First and foremost, Tori is an actress, and some of her closest friends now support the idea of returning to scripted television. They feel taking some of the focus away from her personal life would be helpful and she is beginning to warm up to the idea.”

[From ET Online]

If I knew nothing about Tori Spelling other than the superficial details – former rich girl has big family, can’t adjust to living a different lifestyle – I would feel sorry for her but this is the same stuff we’ve heard from her forever. She probably hired an accountant this week and just started therapy with Dean, but that means everything is great. Her official line prior to this was that she wanted more kids but that she couldn’t have another one because it would drive Dean crazy. She wanted more kids because she wanted a reality show deal and that never came through for her. But sure, her team wants her to go to scripted television.

Here’s Jennifer Garner yesterday, a day after taking Ben Affleck to rehab, looking pretty relaxed running errands in the neighbourhood. There must be some relief there, non? He’s in a safe place. He’s getting help.

As you probably know by now, Jennifer staged an intervention on Wednesday at Ben’…

I might be dating myself, but I remember watching Bewitched reruns when I was a little kid. I loved that show, and even when I was little, I thought it was disappointing that a cool, pretty witch ended up with such a dumbass like Darren. If you were a cool, pretty witch like Samantha, you could have any guy you wanted. Why would you choose… DARREN? There’s been talk over the years about doing some kind of reboot, and they even did a Bewitched movie with Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman (which was terrible). But now it looks like it’s really happening, and there will be a modern twist: an interracial couple at the heart of the story.

Just before he recently departed ABC Studios to embark on a rich overall deal at Netflix, Black-ish creator Kenya Barris sold one last high-profile project to ABC: Bewitched, a single camera, interracial blended family comedy based on the popular 1960s sitcom of the same name. It took a little while for all the deals to close, but the network has given a pilot production commitment to the new take on the classic supernatural sitcom, from Barris and Black-ish writer/producer Yamara Taylor. The project hails from ABC Studios; Sony Pictures TV, which has the rights to the title; and Sony-based Davis Entertainment (The Blacklist).

In Bewitched, written by Barris and Taylor, Samantha, a hardworking black single mom who happens to be a witch, marries Darren, a white mortal who happens to be a bit of a slacker. They struggle to navigate their differences as she discovers that even when a black girl is literally magic, she’s still not as powerful as a decently tall white man with a full head of hair in America.

[From Deadline]

Okay, I don’t totally hate this. As long as they’re making this about race AND witchcraft AND sexual politics, I think it might be okay? My hope is that they cast someone really great for Samantha and that they don’t lean too far into the “slacker” thing for Darren, or else everyone will wonder “why is she with him again?” But I also expect ABC to get hate mail about the interracial couple, because people really are that dumb.
