So there’s the Taylor Swift way of doing things, which is to sit in the audience the whole time because they pretty much told her she was going to win everything. With as many friends as possible. And then there’s the Rihanna way of doing things. Which is to not sit in the audience. And show up t…

New mom-of-two Molly Sims shared a precious photo on Monday via Instagram.

“#grateful,” the Las Vegas alum, 41, captioned the skin-to-skin selfie with her newborn daughter Scarlett.

The model-actress, who gave birth to her daughter on March 25, looks beautiful in minimal makeup while bonding with her baby girl.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue alum and her husband, film producer Scott Stuber, are also parents to 2-year-old son Brooks.

“We welcome Scarlett May Stuber into our family,” Molly announced her daughter’s arrival last Friday. “Our hearts are bigger with you here.”

She added: “Our little bundle of joy weighs in at 7.7 pounds and is 21 inches long. Momma and baby are doing well. We are thrilled that the newest addition has finally arrived and we are so excited that we are now a family of four!”

In February Jon Stewart announced he will be retiring from The Daily Show later this year, and now it’s become official that his replacement will be South African comedian Trevor Noah. There’s still no date for Stewart’s retirement beyond “later this year”, but when he does go, Noah will take ove…

paleyFest X Files

We’ve heard that The X-Files is coming back with the original stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, and that it will begin filming a six episode season this summer. Creator Chris Carter is on board as showrunner, and there’s hope that the rebooted X-Files can bring back some of the supernatural yet sciencey magic that won legions of fans.

The NY Times has a new interview with star David Duchovny, now 54 and still looking incredible, about the history of the show and what he sees coming for its future. He’s somewhat candid, admitting that he was never into the paranormal and at one point claiming that Fox Mulder was the “worst F.B.I. agent of all time” because he never solved a case. Here are some quotes from Duchovny, with more at the source:

On X-Files being called a cult show
They call it a cult show but it wasn’t really a cult show. It was actually a big hit. People call it a cult show because of the subject matter.

On working on the show again
The good things are working with Chris and Gillian again, and getting to do this show again and see what we’ve got. I’m as curious as anybody else. I’m amazed that there’s still an appetite for it and I’m touched. I think the frame of the show is so expansive and so unique and so influential, that it should feel present.

On why he thinks the show “continues to resonate”
You look around at these cultural juggernauts, the ones that came after us… Like “The Twilight Zone,” it ushered in a paranormal theme, and a scary theme and a horror-movie feel that was lacking, for whatever reason, not only on television but in movies as well. Now movies and television are dominated by this genre.

On if he knew the show was groundbreaking when he first took the job
No. I was just trying to pay the rent. I’m really bad with that stuff – I’ve never been interested in paranormal stuff. I liked horror movies when I was a kid, but only when I was a kid. When “The X-Files” came around, it was a well-written pilot and kind of a cool character, this irreverent F.B.I. agent. But who’s gonna wanna watch a show about aliens? Honestly, I was the wrong guy to ask that question. I had no idea.

Was asked if he’s played a law enforcement character post-Mulder
I [don’t] think so. The interesting thing about Mulder is nominally he is law enforcement but he never solved one case in nine years. So he’s the worst F.B.I. agent of all time. As F.B.I. agents, I would say we were not by the book. Especially Mulder.

[From The NY Times via Pajiba]

I really enjoyed this interview, especially how skeptical Duchovny is of the paranormal. (Yet he was the believer and Scully was the skeptic on the show.) Duchovny is even realistic about his character being ineffective at his job. I can relate in that I don’t believe in much that can’t be proven and yet I loved this show. There was something so unique about Mulder and Scully’s relationship. Together they made the creepiest, most unbelievable scenarios seem real and ominous.

As for the future of the show, I hope they bring in current technology as they often did and make it central to the plot. I recently rewatched some of their tech-centric episodes and while they were dated they still sucked me in. Maybe that’s because I lived through that period in technology and it doesn’t seem like that long ago. Neither does the end of the X-Files.

Katie Holmes took Suri to the Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday night. And Suri clearly enjoyed it. Arms up in the air, trying to shove air balloons into her clutch…she’s 8 now, and this event hits all the sweet spots for someone her age. It must have been magic.

By the way, Jamie Foxx was also…

Here are some photos of LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian leaving his son’s soccer game yesterday. Most of the LeAnn haters and lovers already knew that LeAnn was in attendance, because she was tweeting and Instagramming throughout the game. Like always. Brandi Glanville was there too, but the Daily Mail pointed out that Brandi successfully avoided LeAnn and Eddie. Brandi just sat in her lawn chair and watched the game while LeAnn posed and tried to touch Eddie. You can see more photos here.

I don’t have much to say about these photos, honestly. I always debate (with myself) whether LeAnn is calling the paps every single time or whether smart photographers simply know that Eddie and Brandi’s sons play in these Little League and soccer games and they figure it’s an easy photo-op. I think it’s probably a little of Column A, a little of Column B. LeAnn has admitted in the past to calling the paps, and there’s a history of awkward photo-ops which look and seem like pre-planned photoshoots. So, at the end of the day, LeAnn just loves it when anyone gets photos of her husband and her step-sons.

Oh, and while I don’t like LeAnn’s outfit here at all, I have to admit… this is the best her figure has looked in a long time. She’s found the balance after years extreme dieting and extreme workouts. She looks really good.

Katy Perry

These are photos of Katy Perry last week at the screening of her second concert movie, Katy Perry: The Prismatic World Tour. She’s wearing a Balenciaga tuxedo dress with lacy Giambattista Valli boots. Katy pretends to do goth every time she has a breakup.

Katy had a special companion on the red carpet, Butters the dog, who looks confused and like he’s looking for his real mom. Katy talked about Butters once before, when she was promoting her Super Bowl show. Katy admitted she picked up a dog on a whim — right after a breakup when she needed something to love. (Next to Christmastime, that’s the worst time to grab a new pet.) Katy told Billboard that she was too busy to care for Butters because she has an “empire” to run. Now she tells People how Butters comes on tour, but Katy won’t walk him or pick up his poop. That task is left for her assistant and back-up dancers:

“Butters comes everywhere with us. She’s such an amazing tour dog. She brings this incredible joy because sometimes it can get incredibly tiring on the road. All of the dancers will come in and walk her, so she has a really good relationship with the dancers and the band.”

But someone who’s not walking her? Her world-famous mama. “[My assistant] is her real mom and I’m her stepmom because I don’t pick up the doo-doo yet and I don’t like things waking me up at 7 a.m. But she’s so great.”

[From People]

So … Butters is basically a cute accessory and something to trot out on the red carpet. Katy will play with Butters sometimes but doesn’t want to do any of the difficult stuff like wake up early for feedings or walks. This makes Katy seem even more shallow than we already knew. You’d think a lot of famous people do this, but we also see lots of paparazzi photos of celebs doing unglamorous things with their dogs. Part of having a pet is doing the not-so-fun stuff. What this tells me is that Russell Brand dodged a bullet with his failed baby-making plan.

The first trailer for Spectre, the next installment in the James Bond franchise, arrived—oddly—on Friday evening, and it’s more of what we’ve come to expect from Daniel Craig’s stint as 007. Which is to say, it’s moody and dark and everything is gray and chilly. I’m actually a big fan of Craig’s …

I’ve heard, over the years, that Mad Men creator/writer Matthew Weiner is a difficult man. If he was a woman, there would probably be stories about him involving the words: temperamental, emotional, difficult, shrill, high-strung and bossy. Through it all, Weiner’s cast has stuck by him, probably because Mad Men is a career highlight for many. Jon Hamm in particular always stuck by Weiner, and it’s been said that they have a very close friendship/working partnership. So when Hamm got an approach about playing Nick Dunne in Gone Girl, he hoped his friend would let him pursue it. Not so much. Apparently, Weiner wouldn’t give that to Hamm.

Jon Hamm was up for a starring role in the smash hit movie “Gone Girl,” but wasn’t allowed to do the film because “Mad Men” creator Matt Weiner wouldn’t let him out of his contractual obligations to his series. Hamm is still smarting from the career-hampering move to stop him from taking the role played by Ben Affleck, sources say.

“Matt would not let Jon out of his contract to do ‘Gone Girl.’ Jon was really upset about it at the time — and is still upset, because he’s thinking about the future of his career as ‘Mad Men’ comes to a close.” Another source said Hamm couldn’t do the film due to “the ‘Mad Men’ shooting schedule.”

A source said if Hamm had been allowed to do “Gone Girl,” which made $368 million, “he’d be leaving the show with a hit movie and a gritty film role under his belt.”

Before rehab, Hamm was known in showbiz circles as a fun-loving but heavy drinker. “He was well-known in Hollywood for being a heavy drinker,” said a source, “which is why he needed to go to rehab. But the timing has a lot to do with his concerns for his career.”

Immediately after word of Hamm’s rehab stay, the actor’s admirably faced all his press obligations, looking healthy and addressing the show’s ending as well as his news with grace and charm.

[From Page Six]

God, Hamm would have been great as Nick Dunne. I’m not like CB – I have no warmth (residual or otherwise) for Ben Affleck in any role. I think Affleck is a decent director and a lukewarm actor and I still think he was terribly miscast as Nick Dunne in Gone Girl. Would Hamm have been the “right” choice? Eh. Hamm would have been BETTER than Affleck, but that’s setting the bar pretty low.

There’s some question as to how serious the approach was, though. From what I remember, Affleck had the Nick Dunne role locked up pretty early and David Fincher didn’t spend a lot of time with a big casting call for Nick (like Fincher did with hiring Rosamund Pike for Amy). I believe Hamm probably did get approached, and maybe had a meeting about the role very early in the process. But chances are, even if Hamm had a free schedule, Fincher probably still would have gone with Affleck.

Oh, and Page Six also says that Hamm’s partner Jennifer Westfeldt wasn’t around last week because she had some family issues. Hmmm.

Here are some additional photos of Duchess Kate and Prince William in South London on Friday. Again, these will probably be the last photos we have of Kate until she gives birth. Incidentally, when William spoke to various commoners at the Stephen Lawrence Centre, he apparently said, regarding Kate’s pregnancy: “The first time is a learning experience, the second time is a game-changer.” He also said something about how he “can’t wait” for the second baby to be born and he wanted to see the baby now. That’s somewhat interesting, because many of us got the feeling that William didn’t care too much about Prince George when George was a baby. He just never really seemed like a hands-on father. But maybe the second baby will be different. Maybe the second baby… will be a girl? That’s what one gossip item/old wives’ tale suggests.

The Duchess of Cambridge has told friends she is convinced she is having a girl – because she can’t stop scoffing sweet treats. According to an old wives’ tale, if a pregnant woman has cravings for chocolate and biscuits, it is a sure sign that she is carrying a daughter. Now Kate, 33, has joked to pals that if there is any truth in the saying, she is sure to give birth next month to a sister for Prince George.

The Duchess, who again suffered acute morning sickness at the start of the pregnancy, has developed a particular penchant for chocolate biscuit cakes and sticky fruit loaves baked near her Norfolk home, Amner Hall.

‘Prince William has always had a sweet tooth, but Kate has really had sweet cravings during this pregnancy,’ says a source. ‘She could barely keep anything down in the first months of her pregnancy but recently she just cannot get enough of naughty treats.’

William, 32, and his wife have both been spotted popping into the Humble Pie bakery in trendy Burnham Market, a 40-minute drive from Amner Hall, to buy goodies, according to locals. The £7.25 Wicked Chocolate Biscuit Cake that Kate adores is baked by a woman called Diane. Kate also stocked up on the £5.95 sticky fruit loaf during a recent shopping trip. The cake is also a favourite of William’s, who specially requested a version of it be made for the couple’s wedding.

‘Kate has popped into the store on her own and with William,’ reports a local. ‘She loves the cakes and says they are delicious.’

Last week we reported that the Duchess had bought a stash of posh Easter eggs at the trendy Conran shop in London, while William was given a chocolate egg on the way back from a memorial service for jockey Richard Meade. Kate has also developed a fondness of home baking, I gather. ‘She’s has become a domestic goddess,’ adds my source. ‘She loves baking with George.’

No wonder William has been telling chums he’s piling on the pounds because there are always treats at Amner Hall and at their London residence, Kensington Palace.

[From The Daily Mail]

We’re always hearing stories about Kate cooking and baking – and she even took an advanced cooking class a few years ago too – and I guess I believe that about her. I think she probably does know her way around a kitchen. Of course, she still totally has private cooks and the like (no judgment, I’d love a private chef). As for the new sweet-tooth… I think she’s probably still watching her weight, even while pregnant. She’ll probably have a chocolate here or there, but I doubt she’s eating endless cakes and cookies. And the old wives’ tale? Eh. I’d love it if she had a girl, but I really have no idea. I’m not getting any particular vibe either way.
