In May of this year, Tatler released their shady “Catherine the Great” cover story. The story was originally done with the implicit approval of Kensington Palace, likely because they believed Tatler would just go along with their Embiggening Kate campaign. Unfortunately, the story was the Revenge of the Turnip Toffs – all of the rich-bitch aristocrats used the opportunity to talk sh-t about how Kate has zero personality, how William is obsessed with Carole Middleton, how Kate honestly believes that she works as hard as a Top CEO, that Kate feels exhausted and trapped, that Carole, Kate and Pippa are just some social climbing hustlers, and on and on. Kensington Palace FREAKED. They threatened to sue Tatler and, wouldn’t you know, “never complain, never explain” went straight out the window.

For months, the Tatler story existed online with zero edits. The print edition obviously went out months ago too, and no edits were made on that either. But then we heard a few weeks ago that Tatler had quietly removed only one paragraph: the paragraph about William’s friendship with Rose Hanbury. It was a bit like closing the barn doors after the horses had bolted. Hilariously, that wasn’t the end of it. Two weeks later, it now appears that Tatler has removed several more paragraphs from the cover story.

Tatler has cut huge swathes from its online profile of the Duchess of Cambridge after the society bible was accused of publishing a ‘string of lies’. The magazine has caved in and removed almost a quarter of the piece – in particular ‘cruel’ and ‘snobby’ barbs aimed at Kate’s mother Carole Middleton and sister Pippa. It comes after Kensington Palace instructed its lawyers to demand the ‘inaccuracies and false representations’ be removed.

July/August’s edition of Tatler, which was published in May under the cover story ‘Catherine the Great’, detailed claims, now deleted, that Kate, 38, felt ‘exhausted and trapped’ following Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from royal life, was ‘perilously thin’ like Princess Diana and had even consulted psychics with William. But The Mail on Sunday understands it was the criticism of the Middleton family that caused the greatest upset.

Initially, Tatler refused to remove anything from the internet, despite Palace fury, with editor Richard Dennen insisting he stood ‘behind the reporting of Anna Pasternak and her sources’. However, the Cambridges’ lawyers pointed out that Kensington Palace had not been given the opportunity to comment on the specific content of Ms Pasternak’s feature, much of which was disputed. Eventually both sides agreed that chunks would be cut from the online profile, which was done this week – four months after its publication.

The erased paragraphs include claims that William was obsessed with his mother-in-law, that Carole, 65, is ‘a terrible snob’ and that Pippa, 37, is ‘too regal and try-hard’. The only reference Tatler has made to the climbdown is a sentence at the end of the piece, saying it has been edited.

A source close to the magazine’s publisher Condé Nast said: ‘Tatler has a long-standing relationship with the Royal Family and wanted to end this amicably.’ A spokesman for Kensington Palace declined to comment.

What’s funnier, the fact that William and Kate are too dumb to understand the Streisand Effect, or that the DAILY MAIL went on to copy-and-paste every single section which was removed from the Tatler piece? The whole thing is hilarious to me, oh my God. When I read the full Tatler piece, I knew that it was a big deal and that KP would be mad about it. What I didn’t expect was William and Kate throwing a big, public hissy fit… which ended up drawing more attention to this shady article. I did not expect for their tantrum to extend months beyond the publication, to the point where four months later, we’re still hearing about this sh-t. Do the Cambridges think they’ve won? They haven’t. Now we know that they would not have fought so hard if Tatler hadn’t been speaking the truth.

The Duchess of Sussex’s lawsuit against the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday continues this week. The trial is not until January, but there is some kind of hearing this week, which just means that everybody is dragging out what should have been an open-and-shut case. The Mail had no right to publish Meghan’s letter to her father and they had even less of a right to completely misrepresent her letter and heavily edit her words. It’s that simple. The Mail is dragging this out to stick it to Meghan, to continue to abuse her and to continue to “report” on her. At least now she has… another lawyer?

The Duchess of Sussex’s legal case against the Mail on Sunday is due back in court later today, but her original legal council, David Sherborne, will not be present. The Times has confirmed that Mr Sherborne will no longer be representing the Duchess, with his ‘rival’ Justin Rushbrooke, QC, instead fighting her corner. The news comes after Mr Rushbrooke was called in to represent Meghan during the summer, when Mr Sherborne was tied up with another case – that of Johnny Depp vs The Sun.

Indeed, Mr Sherborne is a well-known celebrity lawyer, one who has frequently won privacy and defamation cases against publishers and the paparazzi. He rose to prominence during the Leveson Enquiry, representing the McCanns, the Dowler family, JK Rowling and Hugh Grant.

Mr Sherborne lost the first pre-trial hearing in May, with the Duchess forced to pay £67,888 in legal costs to the Mail on Sunday. Since then, Mr Rushbrooke (who took over from Sherborne during Depp’s trial) has successfully won Meghan’s bid to keep the privacy of her five friends who spoke to People about her relationship with her father intact.

Meghan is suing the Mail on Sunday and Daily Mail for five different articles published in February 2019, which included the publication of extracts of a private letter she sent to her father. She is seeking damages for alleged misuse of private information, copyright infringement and breach of the Data Protection Act.

Honestly, I wouldn’t want Johnny Depp’s lawyer either, but I bet Meghan replaced Sherborne for other reasons besides that. I hope the change in counsel doesn’t affect her case, but I suspect it won’t, and I suspect that the case is mostly just nitpicking at this point. When this goes to trial (January), the Mail’s case is going to fall apart anyway, because they truly have NO CASE. All they have is whining and bitching about how they had a right to publish Meghan’s letter because they think they “own” her.

Richard Palmer says that the legal costs for both sides will end up being around £3 million. Which is insane. Meghan has already had to pay a fraction of that for the Mail’s lawyers, but if and when she wins the case, the Mail will have to pay her legal fees, correct? Well, at least now the royal reporters have another financial thing to complain about it. How dare Meghan hire such expensive lawyers? How dare she sue a British tabloid as they tried to smear her?

It was sort of nice to see how many people took the “Emmy Awards at Home” thing seriously. It was great to see people actually get glammed up to participate in the show via link-up. What was not very cool? The handful of celebrities who did get to come to the auditorium, because it felt like Jimmy Kimmel just invited a handful of his friends and it was awkward as hell. It’s no secret that Kimmel is good friends with Jennifer Aniston, and of course she came to the auditorium to do a “bit” with him. The bit involved a fire extinguisher.

I actually thought this was one of the few successful “filler” pieces of the show, because I don’t believe it was in the script for the fire to keep going on. Aniston had to extinguish the sh-t out of it.

What was in the script was this fakakta Friends reunion – Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow seemingly came by Jennifer’s house for it. Jason Bateman too. Jen must have been hosting a little Emmy party. Party like it’s 1995.

Blah. Anyway, Jennifer lost to Zendaya. And people are talking about her black slipdress like they’ve never seen her wear a black gown ever. Beachy waves, hair down, black dress. She’s been doing the same thing for 25 years!

One of the feel-good stories of the 2020 Emmy Awards was a young whippersnapper grabbing the Best Actress in a Drama Emmy away from all of the veterans of film and television. The Emmy felt like it was Jennifer Aniston’s to lose, or failing that, like it was Olivia Colman’s to lose. But no! Zendaya picked up her first Emmy Award for HBO’s Euphoria. She’s only the second Black woman to win a lead-actress Emmy (after Viola Davis). Her winning video became super-iconic right away.

It was sort of the weird side-effect of these pandemic times that several of the winners actually seemed happier to be at home, with everyone on their team and their whole families and all of that. You can tell Zendaya was already making a night of it with her fam and her people, and she was so GIDDY to be able to celebrate it with everyone. And as always, Zendaya shows an other-worldly maturity – she’s always been like that.

Royals: Minutes 3:45 to 12:15
Meghan and Harry continue to live their best life. They just gave $130,000 to Camfed to match the Sussex Squad’s donation and send African girls to school. They also did it with their own money. Chandra brings up the point that we never hear about royals giving their own money to charity.

It was Prince Harry’s birthday last week and so the Cambridges, Prince Charles and The Royal Family posted photos for him. None of them included Meghan and the one the Cambridges posted was literally of Harry running away from Kate and William on a track.

Minute 6:00 Richard Kay ran a dumb story in the Daily Mail claiming that Prince Harry never smiles when he’s with Meghan, that he’s super sad in general, and calling Harry “woefully out of touch to the problems faced by modern Briton.” This is ridiculous considering the other royals live in castles and Harry is paying his own way now. Richard Kay also said that it’s protocol that you’re not supposed to include photos of spouses in birthday wishes on social media. Courtney in our Zoom meeting found a photo from Prince Charles for Kate’s birthday that disproves this. I play a segment from Zoom that includes Alnaaze, Tanisha and Courtney.

Minute 9:45 Another shady story in Entertainment Tonight claimed that the royal family is not pleased about the Sussexes’ Netflix deal because of the one year review period. Also the senior royals don’t want their work to be eclipsed by the Sussexes. This has been clear for years, as Chandra mentions, as the Cambridges have been actively trying to step on the Sussexes’ press cycles. Also we heard in The Sun that Prince William is “livid” that Harry is working with Netflix, since they put out The Crown. Prince William only has one emotion apparently. Cardi B and Offset’s divorce: Minutes 12:15 to 16:45
Cardi B, 27, filed for divorce from Offset, 28. They have a two year old daughter, Kulture. He was predictably cheating on her. She’s taken him back when he’s cheated before and she’s been open about that and about all the work she did. They’ve been married three years, they last split in late 2018, and then he crashed one of her performances and begged her to take him back. There were stories for years that he was cheating on her and Chandra calls it a compulsion. We think she has more money and assets than him and are worried about her. I play a segment from Zoom where Karen, Ameerah, Rhiannon and Tanisha talk about Cardi B and Offset’s divorce.

We forget how young Cardi B is. Chandra thinks people on Cardi’s team convinced her to take him back. We hope this split is final for Cardi.

Chris Evans: Minutes 16:45 to 22:00
Chris Evans accidentally posted his own dick pic. It came up in his camera roll at the end of a video he posted to Instagram. Chandra retweeted that video and took a screenshot, which she posted on Twitter. That got her put in Twitter jail for a day where she wasn’t able to post at all. I tweeted a message letting everyone know what happened to her and that got a lot of likes and comments.

After that accident, Chris posted a message with a facepalm and shrug emoji saying “now that I’ve got your attention, vote November 3.” Chandra wonders why everyone was defending him and says he’ll be fine.

Chris has one of those “Guard that Pussy” memes on his phone with a picture of himself and everyone loved that. I play a segment from Zoom where Zakia, Tanisha, Karen and Rhiannon talk about Chris Evans.

Chandra prefers Chris Pine and we think he’s not great in relationships.

This was in response to a story about how Prince Philip’s cheating is being glossed over and denied in a new biography about him by Ingrid Seward. Michelle Obama has been promoting her organization When We All Vote and encouraging Americans to not only vote but get involved in the political process. She recently did a collaboration with black owned business The Lip Bar, helping promote Bawse Voter, a power red matte lipstick in which partial profits go to WWAV.

Forever FLOTUS Michelle O appeared on the Black Frasier podcast hosted by 2 Dope Queens alum and comedienne, Phoebe Robinson. During the podcast she played a classier version of FMK called Vacation, Quarantine, Zoom where she had to choose which Chris (Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, or Chris Rock) she’d vacation, quarantine or Zoom with. The segment became hilarious when she had to ask which one was Chris Evans, who coincidentally had a NSFW mishap last week on his Instagram. Here are some quotes from EW:

Once she was made aware he was the one who plays Captain America, she chose him as the Chris she would go on vacation with, a choice that has only become more popular ever since the actor’s recent NSFW social media gaffe (though this episode was taped before Evans unintentionally shared more of himself than expected with his Instagram followers).

So many people say the Chrises (the white ones specifically) are interchangeable. They are not. They are very different and I stand by that. With that being said, I disagree with Michelle, I think Chris Evans would be a great Quarantine buddy. I think there’d be a lot of snuggling, cooking and pranks. I’d probably vacation with Chris Rock because it would just be a fun damn time and Chris Hemsworth would be the Zoom call. I still can’t get a read on his personality but he is nice on the eyes.

At least Michelle recognized Chris’s most iconic role so it is not a complete wash. Now it would be cool to see them do an interview with each other about their political endeavors. It was also cute how Michelle and Phoebe thought of each other as honorary cousins because they share a surname. I really miss Michelle O. and seeing her this often the last few months has been a sort of balm in this chaotic climate.
