Victoria Beckham was with all four of her kids out trick-or-treating last night in London. I’m not sure if Brooklyn’s was a costume (he had a cane) but Romeo went as some kind of demon, Cruz put on a Chicago Blackhawks jersey, and little Harper Seven was, I think, a demented cheerleader. No sign of …

I wanted to enjoy Vanity Fair’s new editorship/stewardship, but honestly, terrible covers and cover subjects keep getting the greenlight. Natalie Portman covers the December issue of VF, and while the profile is a decent read, the actual cover is horrendous. Are the editors choosing their covers with their eyes closed? Everything looks so cheap now. Anyway, you can read Natalie’s profile here – she’s promoting Vox Lux, but even more than that, she’s talking a lot about how the #MeToo movement changed the way she sees her place in the industry, and how it reaffirmed her commitment to making things better for all women. Some highlights:

On #MeToo: “All the stuff that’s going on, it’s this weird thing of having been in all of those environments. Like the set of Beautiful Girls—every woman in that movie has come forward…. I was able somehow not to have an experience like that, so it’s definitely a weird, privileged place to hold. Learning what so many women have been through and were going through right next to me. Ashley Judd [Portman’s co-star in both Where the Heart Is and Heat], Mira Sorvino, Uma Thurman; these were women that I admired so much and felt lucky to work with. They were super-kind to me and super-supportive, amazing role models. It was completely shocking to know that they were going through that.”

On Harvey Weinstein: While Portman had “heard the rumors about Harvey throughout the years, and took them as truth,” consequently keeping her distance, she didn’t know specifically “who it had happened to.” She learned to whom and to what degree “when everyone else did. . . . We’re in a culture where it is regular for men to behave badly and for women to be hurt,” she says, adding that men can be victims, too. “But it is a complete shift because all of us were like, ‘Oh, God, he’s a bad dude,’ and now it’s ‘No, this is abusive behavior—not just a bad dude.’ ”

Whether she’ll try to mentor younger girls coming up: “There’s a lot I feel I get from the way this upcoming generation is viewing the world, like identity definition and self-presentation to the world—all of that stuff is so different. But we’d like to give them the stuff that we have.”

Her relationship to Israel: It’s “very complicated, like family—you love it more than anything else in the world and you also are more critical of it than anything else in the world.” Last spring, there was an uproar when she declined to accept the 2018 Genesis Prize in person. “I’d like to clarify I have no issue traveling to the country. They may have issues with it now, but I don’t. I was choosing not to attend an event where I was supposed to be onstage with Prime Minister Netanyahu, sitting next to him, which felt like an endorsement. So there is a distinction.”

On stereotyping: “I was very lucky that what I was cast in wasn’t anything deliberate—serious adult fare and not child-appropriate things. But I feel like I totally ended up in female tropes, like Lolita. And clearly I was part of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl coining. I find it very upsetting to be part of that.”

[From Vanity Fair]

I think what she says about Israel and Netanyahu is really interesting – you can love Israel and defend its right to exist and the right of Israelis to live and thrive in peace, AND you can still believe that Netanyahu is a warmongering jackass who aligns himself too closely with the most fascistic elements of the American right.

As for what she says about the Manic Pixie Dream Girl label… I mean… she said yes to those scripts. She didn’t have a problem with the scripts or the roles, she has a problem with being called out for playing the trope. That being said, I’ve never found the Manic Pixie Dream Girl to be AS offensive as Random Plot Device With Boobs, you know?

I remember reading an interview – or maybe it was her book? – with Tina Fey where she talked about the trend among rich white families in New York. She noted, ever the social anthropologist, that the trend among rich couples was to go for more kids. Whereas most affluent couples in decades past would just aim for two kids, Tina said that most of her daughter’s schoolmates had three or even four siblings. Like, “more than three kids” is the new status symbol for the affluent – you’re telling people that you can afford to have all of those children in one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Alec Baldwin seems to have taken this to heart. Alec and Hilaria Baldwin split their time between Long Island and Manhattan. They got married in 2012, and Hilaria gave birth to their FOURTH child in May. Yes, Hilaria gave birth to four children between 2013 to 2018. It’s crazy. What’s even crazier is that she wants a fifth.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin‘s family could be getting larger. Hilaria — who just welcomed the couple’s fourth child, Romeo, in May — said during her Instagram story Q&A that she’s not opposed to having a fifth child.

“I think about it a lot,” the 34-year-old shared. “When I’ll have a day that’s really really hard with the kids, I’m like, ‘No more kids!’ and then I’ll have a day where they’re like really cute like this, and I’m like, ‘I could have another one.’”

“We’ll see,” she added. The couple duo also shares three other children — daughter Carmen and sons Rafael and Leonardo. The “30 Rock” alum, 60, is also dad to 23-year-old model Ireland Baldwin with ex-wife Kim Basinger. Alec and Hilaria tied the knot in 2012.

[From Page Six]

I’ve always disliked the “baby-hoarder” moniker given to some women. Sometimes it’s justified, like when you’re talking about a Duggar. But mostly, I think people should make their own choices about how many kids they want and how many they can afford. I’m very “live and let live” about it all. But… even then, I really hope Hilaria doesn’t get pregnant again. I think she’s a straight-up baby-hoarder. I think Alec and Hilaria have a huge team of nannies, cooks, maids and helpers and Hilaria mostly just sits around and thinks about getting pregnant again. I judge them both. Alec is too old to keep doing this too – the man is 60 years old! He doesn’t need a FIFTH BABY.

Beyonce cracks me up. While many people probably organized their Black Panther costumes months ago, Beyonce was like “nah, too obvious.” She probably also thought “why would I dress up like a Black Panther character when I’m already the Queen of Everything?” So she thought about it long and hard, and decided to do two different costumes. The first costume was Phoni Braxton, a take on Toni Braxton. Then Beyonce and Jay-Z did a couples-costume as two famous and historical African-American Olympians: Flo Jo and John Carlos.

For the kids who don’t know, Flo Jo is the late Florence Griffith–Joyner, a track Olympian who won three gold medals and two silver medals in her career. She was known for her flamboyant track outfits, her long nails, her passion and her general awesomeness. John Carlos, 73, was one of the track Olympians – along with Tommie Smith – who raised his fist in a Black Power salute on the medal stand at the 1968 Olympics. Both John Carlos and Flo Jo are considered to be powerful symbols of the civil rights movement.

Now, Beyonce went about these costumes in the most Mom Way possible. I honestly think it’s hilarious that she actually posed for the iconic Flo Jo-kneeling-prayer photo and then Photoshopped it to look like she was actually on a track. She’s so earnest, y’all. I love her.

US Magazine is parceling out the details from their story on Jennifer Garner’s new relationship with restaurant technology CEO John Miller, which I understand and would do too if there was a Celebitchy magazine. We would be milking celebrity interview and source stories all week long. (We do that anyway.) I’m clarifying that in case your initial response is to roll your eyes at Garner, which is understandable and probably the default response to her anyway. She’s in love! She’s happy! She still hasn’t done a pap stroll with the guy, which is either to her credit or means he’s pulling back from the media circus. This story is in the new print edition of US, with Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie on the cover telling their story about Megyn Kelly finally getting her comeuppance for being a racist POS. I bet this was negotiated back when Garner got the cover last week, that it would be stretched out into two weeks of stories with one main cover and an inset on the second cover. Here we go with that:

Heating up fast! Jennifer Garner is “head over heels in love” with her new beau, John Miller, a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly.

“It’s gotten very serious,” the source explains

That’s it! Those are all the quotes we have about that. As I mentioned it’s probably just a quote from the original sourced article. However People Magazine says they’re not that serious. Which could be the case now that John has experienced all the scrutiny that comes with dating a famous woman.

“It’s not serious,” says an insider in the new issue of PEOPLE. “But she enjoys his company.”

[From People]

So which is it? Are they serious or casual? Also, I would say things have changed for them but this is the same tactic we saw in the rollout: US said they were serious but People reported that it’s just casual.

Note that Garner has a top inset in the current issue of People Magazine too, which I’m sure was calculated.

Some of you have the theory that we’ll see more of John once his divorce is finalized. You also wondered whether these stories about his relationship with Jen are going to be used as leverage in his divorce, which is a good question. It’s possible.

On Instagram Garner did a guacamole recipe while quoting from the three witches scene from Macbeth. This is extra but she’s an actress.

Happy Halloween! ? . Tomatillo Salsa 1 almost full gallon size bag of tomatillos (from my garden?). 3 cloves of garlic, trimmed but not peeled 2 whole jalapeños (or more if you want more spice) 2 or 3 limes Salt Olive oil 1 or 2 ripe avocados . 1. Preheat oven to 325F and line a baking sheet with tin foil. 2. Remove husks from tomatillos. Rinse and dry. Place on baking sheet. 3. Drizzle and coat with olive oil. 4. Add whole jalapeños and garlic to baking sheet. 5. Bake for about 30 minutes. You want the tomatillos softened, but not bursting. Jalapeños and garlic should be soft, as well. 6. Pull stems off jalapeños. Squeeze garlic from its shell. 7. Transfer everything to blender. Squeeze in lime juice and add a little salt. 8. Blend until smooth (leave the lid off a bit and cover with a towel to let the steam escape). 9. Transfer to bowl and let cool. 10. Refrigerate. 11. Add more salt to taste. Add diced avocado. 12. Cast a spell. Yum.

Intro for November 1, 2018

Nov 1, 2018 Author: | Filed under: Celebrities

Dear Gossips,

I’m writing this at 730am ET. I wonder though if by the time you read this it’ll have happened already, what I woke up waiting for: Carly Rae Jepsen’s new song, “Party for One”. I’ve mentioned before how much of an asshole I am for not mentioning enough my love for her last album, E…

While I was at the gym yesterday, I watched a CNN segment about how celebrities were coming out in droves to encourage people to vote in the midterms, and how so many celebrities had endorsed particular candidates, like Beto O’Rourke or Stacey Abrams. CNN framed the story as “do celebrity endorsement hurt more than they help?” And while that’s been the question for decades, in this particular era of politics, can we just stop? The Trumps are utter famewhores, desperate for any kind of celebrity legitimacy or attention. Donald Trump is a C-list wingnut reality star, and his children are craven starf–kers.

So, with that in mind, WTF is Hugh Jackman doing? Ivanka and Jared Kushner were invited to Hugh Jackman’s 50th birthday party in New York a few days ago:

Hugh Jackman celebrated his recent 50th birthday with a starry party at Donna Karan’s West Village space Urban Zen, sources exclusively told Page Six. At the party were guests including Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett as well as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. Some of the liberal Hollywood types were taken aback by the presence of the president’s daughter and son-in-law. But a source said, “There was no snubbing. Everyone was polite.”

Jackman and Ivanka have been known to be close pals. He called her “my lovely friend” in a 2015 tweet. In June, Ivanka was spotted with Jackman and his wife leaving their apartment in the West Village.

[From Page Six]

Hugh is currently on the promotional trail for The Front Runner, which is about Gary Hart’s presidential run, and so he’s getting questions about American politics anyway. It feels like a lot of different outlets asked him about his friendship with Javanka too. He told Page Six: “I’ve been friends with them for 15 years so I am sure they were happy not to talk politics for a night.” When asked about it by Variety, he said: “I’ve known those guys for 15 years, and we don’t talk politics at birthday parties.” Those are very lame answers.

I understand the whole “we’re social friends, I’m not going to get into a screaming match with a Republican a–hole on my birthday” idea. But these people are destroying America. They’re unhinged fascists. Stop normalizing them to the point of “well, we just won’t talk about it while we eat birthday cake.” And what about the guests? If you went to your friend’s birthday party and suddenly Ivanka and Jared turn up, what would you do? I would not just sit quietly and eat cake, I’ll tell you that much. I would probably be That Bitch Who Got Arrested At Hugh Jackman’s Birthday Party.

The Duke of Sussex and Duchess of Sussex visit the Redwoods Treewalk in Rotorua

The Royal Sussex Tour ended yesterday. Although the tour was only 16 days long, it felt a lot longer because there were so many photos and speeches and nice moments and fashion looks to discuss. I imagine that the diehard Sussex fans and royal reporters will be combing through all of the speeches and moments for weeks to come, to find new angles on old stories. Consider this a preview of that: it seems that for Meghan and Harry’s last event in New Zealand, Harry gave Meghan his coat to wear.

Most women can admit to ‘accidentally’ taking their boyfriend’s oversized t-shirts or hoodies every now and again, particularly in the chillier months. It seems to be a token ‘girlfriend’ trait to enjoy wearing items from your significant other’s wardrobe, and even though she’s now married, the Duchess of Sussex is clearly not immune to the charms.

Her husband Prince Harry – who joined her on a 16-day royal tour of Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific – wore a $698 (GBP £387) black Norrøna ‘Oslo’ coat to walk around the Abel Tasman National Park on Monday. Two days later Meghan was spotted in The Redwoods forest in Rotorua, New Zealand, sporting the exact same jacket, albeit a bit oversized on her slender frame. And nobody really noticed she’d recycled a look from the Duke’s wardrobe.

[From The Daily Mail]

God knows Meghan packed enough trench coats and windbreakers and blazers for the tour, so I have to think that she originally planned to just do the appearance in her Mother jeans and maybe a light sweater. And then she got cold, so Harry took off his coat and gave it to her, like a gentleman. I honestly think that’s one of the nicest things a man can do, to literally give you their sweater/coat/jacket when you’re cold.

Vanity Fair had a nice write-up on the Royal Sussex Tour too, basically saying that Meghan is finding her own path to being a duchess, and that she and Harry just seemed very “real” and very Instagram-friendly. Go here to read.

I’m still trying to figure out the purpose of that dumb Vanity Fair story about how the Duchess of Cambridge’s “golden era” is finally upon us. Seeing as how it was published two weeks into the Royal Sussex Tour, it did have a feel of “don’t forget about meeeee, I’m still so keeeeeeen.” And much like all of the other “planning to be keen” stories we’ve heard about Kate in the past seven years, I think we should not hold our collective breath to see if Kate is finally going to, like, do some stuff on a regular basis. Regular basis = five events a week, every week. As Vanity Fair explored, instead of just vague thoughts about how she’s planning to keen, the new narrative around Kate’s Keenness is that Kate is finally ready to act like she’s going to be queen-consort some day. Or something. Like, she’s keen to queen.

Unfortunately, in the Daily Mail’s coverage of the Vanity Fair story, they did their own interview with “celebrity stylist” Rochelle White, who made it sound like the transformation to “Golden Era Kate” is going to be completely superficial.

Celebrity stylist Rochelle White told FEMAIL Kate’s changing wardrobe is a sign she’s more ‘relaxed and confident’ than ever following years in the spotlight – in particular the ‘regal’ Alexander McQueen fishtail gown she wore to a state banquet at Buckingham Palace last week in honour of the Dutch royals: ‘I can’t say that this was one of my favourite looks,’ Rochelle said, ‘however she carries it off well. She has been “princess in training” for a while now, and now that Meghan has taken over the role, she is really starting to embrace her changing position. She looks relaxed and confident rocking this style of dress, which is very princess-esque, and shows of her silhouette post-baby.’

Rochelle said Kate is taking risks with colours and cuts – as with the relatively daring tweed Erdem dress and deep plum heels she wore to open a photography exhibit at the V&A on October 10th – that are a clear sign of her ‘stepping up her fashion game’.

‘She’s known for wearing nudes and natural tones,’ the stylist said, ‘so it’s nice to see her experimenting with shades we aren’t used to seeing her in.’

But for Rochelle, the look that revealed most about Kate’s new confidence was the one chosen for her first post-maternity leave appearance on October 2nd, a visit to Sayers Croft Forest School in Paddington. A glowing Kate swapped her once-signature voluminous blow-dry for more relaxed waves, teamed with a pair of £30 Zara jeans and a £175 khaki jacket from trendy Swedish outdoor brand Fjällräven.

‘I feel that is true style and more about her and her personality,’ Rochelle said. ‘Kate is settled in her role and feels confident enough wearing the styles and looks that suit her. After years of properly trying to find her feet, and post three babies, she’s in a place where she knows what works.’

[From The Daily Mail]

It feels like stylists are falling all over themselves to give Kate a cookie for just not looking like ten kinds of pukey/floral/doily/button-slathered hell. That’s no surprise, I guess, because they’ve always done that, they’ve always hyped Kate as this grand fashionista, when she’s really not. I’ll give her some credit: her fashion choices from this autumn have been okay-to-good, and I’m thankful for that even as I acknowledge that Kate constantly benefits from the bar being set really low for her.

As for the idea that Kate has finally NOW come into her own – as a woman and a fashionista – it’s just more of the same. All of the things she WILL do, eventually, like be a fashionista or be keen, or be a hard-working royal. I also think it’s sort of funny that with the Vanity Fair article and this Daily Mail riff on the VF article, the subtext is that… Kate has NOT been regal or fashion-forward or interesting for the past seven to seventeen years.

Happy Halloween!!!! It’s our first Halloween together!!!! She’s too cute to spook!! (Don’t judge me, I have more costumes to post lol) ??

A post shared by Khloé (@khloekardashian) on Oct 31, 2018 at 9:05am PDT

In case there was any doubt, Khloe Kardashian absolutely loves being a mom. She could not stop posting photos of True Thompson’s many Halloween costumes. True and Khloe were mommy & baby unicorns, then True was a panda, then True was a little piggie, then she was a little lamb, and then she was a little tiger! The pics are absolutely adorable, no shade. You can just feel the joy coming off these IGs. Khloe probably spent a small fortune buying all of these costumes for True, and all of the coordinated ones for herself. I mean, I would bitch about how these people have too much time and too much money, but Khloe will have these photos of True all of her life, and that’s priceless.

What’s interesting, of course, is that True’s daddy is nowhere in any of these particular photos, although last night, Tristan did post some photos indicating that he didn’t miss True’s first Halloween. Khloe apparently did go to Cleveland for a day or two to support Tristan Thompson during a Cavaliers game, but then she returned home to LA. Things are still very strained between Khloe and Tristan, obviously. Just how strained though?

A rocky romance. Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson are still fighting to save their strained relationship six months after his cheating scandal, but it hasn’t been easy.

“Khloé’s relationship with Tristan isn’t on solid ground and hasn’t been for a while,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Tristan isn’t happy that all of the cheating is going to play out on Keeping Up With the Kardashians after the scandal has already made his life miserable.”

Us revealed earlier this month that Kardashian planned on joining Thompson, 27, in Ohio for “a big chunk” of the 2018-2019 season. Although she cheered on the Cleveland Cavaliers player during his game on Tuesday, October 30, according to TMZ, a source tells Us that the Revenge Body host is still unsure about the couple’s future.

“Khloé is just going to sit back and assess the situation very closely,” the insider tells Us. “She isn’t ready to close the door on the relationship, but Khloé is also realistic about the issues facing the relationship.” The source tells Us that Kardashian’s “world won’t fall apart if the relationship with Tristan ends,” because she is “just focused” on True.

A second Kardashian insider reveals to Us that while the Strong Look’s Better Naked author’s relationship with the basketball pro “is currently strained, Khloé is the type of person who doesn’t let go easily.”

[From Us Weekly]

I can’t believe I’m actually wasting my brain cells even analyzing this, but here goes. My take is that Khloe is a stage-five clinger and she really wants to be seen as “ride or die” for her man. BUT she also got what she wanted, which is Baby True, so ultimately she knows she’ll be fine if and when she leaves Tristan. So why hasn’t she left yet? I think there’s a deeply masochistic side to her, honestly.
