For Halloween, all five Kardashian-Jenner women decided to do a group-themed costume look. The theme? Victoria’s Secret Angels. Keep in mind, Kendall Jenner is one of the few big names, at this point, who actually gets hired to do the Victoria’s Secret holiday runway show. So it’s basically Kardashian-Jenner branding on top of VS branding. Ugh. But of course, being lingerie-clad Angels wasn’t enough for several of the sisters. Kylie Jenner also decided to do an individual costume… she was Barbie:

I always say that Kylie looks like a sad doll, so while this costume wasn’t a stretch, she did it well. She really got the dead-eyed Barbie look down pat. The “packaging” was an especially good touch.

Maybe I just haven’t been paying attention, but it definitely feels like LeAnn Rimes has dialed down the stalking and general nonsense this year. I’m sure she’s still low-key Single White Female-ing various women, but she’s not being as blatant about it as she once was. Those were always some of my favorite stories to cover. Also some of my favorite stories to cover? LeAnn and Eddie Cibrian playing dress up, sometimes for a party, sometimes just because they’re bored.

They had an excuse to play dress up this week – it was Halloween. So what was their couple costume? She’s, like, a Stevie Nicks-type witch and he was her “black cat.” I’m sort of embarrassed for them. This couple costume is lame. Eddie’s costume in particular just seems sort of basic – a black suit and some drawn-on whiskers? Blah.

Incidentally, my theory for why Eddie and LeAnn have been low-key this year? He’s been working in Canada, so LeAnn spends all of her available time on the set with him, trying to keep him on Lojack. The problem is that she’s trying to make some money too, so she keeps going on these mini-tours which probably aren’t bringing in too much money. Hm.

Heidi Klum never fails to bring it for her annual Halloween party. I wish she would have it on the weekend instead of Halloween night, but I’ll have to lodge that complaint next year when I turn down my invitation. She went as Fiona and her boyfriend, Tom Kaulitz, was Shrek. Their costumes were spot on, which is always the case for Heidi. She’s the queen of Halloween. The only thing that could make this better is if they did a gender switch and Heidi was Shrek with Tom as Fiona.

Heidi posted videos of the process of getting in costume. It involved a team of people, prosthetics, makeup and hair and must have taken hours. I wouldn’t want to go through all that but the results are worth it.

Mel B and her friend, Gary Madatyan, went as Posh and Becks. Mel is carrying a hatchet that says “No I am not” on one side and “Going on tour” on the other. Gary’s sign says “please please please do it for the Spice Girls fans.” I guess that means Victoria has been ambivalent about the reunion tour, which explains why Mel keeps saying it’s happening even though there’s no confirmation.

I hope everyone had a great Halloween. I narrowly avoided tragedy when my planned costume turned out to be an utter mess once assembled. Never fear, my fellow Celebitches – I prevailed and hit the trick or treat circuit as a Vogue Witch (yup – I had that sh!t in my closet waiting as backup). That serves as your reminder that I absolutely love Halloween and dressing up. I also love the 80s – yes, all things ‘80s, as only a youth of the 80s can. So imagine my glee when I saw that Today and Good Morning America Halloween competition was famous 80s icons. It was like Christmas came early. And it was bitchin’

But as I said, it was a competition so let’s judge these neo-maxi zoomdweebies on their gnarly threads.

First up, we have GMA who featured icons from 80s TV. Today chose 80s movies and music. Repping the movies were Willie Geist as Ferris Bueller, Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer as Doc Brown and Marty McFly from Back to the Future, Craig Melvin as Prince Akeem from Coming to America and Jenna Bush Hager and Peter Alexander as Goose and Maverick from Top Gun.

On the music side was Kathie Lee Gifford as a surprisingly decent Madonna circa Material Girl, Carson Daly as a less decent Bruce Springsteen, Sheinelle Jones who killed it as Tina Turner, Savannah Guthrie as Cyndi Lauper and Hoda Kotb as Elton John (costumes begin at the 2:00 mark).

Judging 80s Halloween costumes is serious business so I’m going to have to be harsh. I would select Today as the winner, hell, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones alone knock the competition out. But dude, Hoda – no matter how awesome that costume is, and it is awesome, that’s 1973 Elton. Major point deduction.

I liked GMA’s selections but their execution fell short across the board. However, they got bonus points for bringing out Suzanne Summers from Threes Company and John Schneider from Dukes of Hazzard to compete against them in a trivia quiz. Nice, right? But the winning move happened when Kim Fields and Nancy McKeon of the 80s classic Facts of Life dressed as Crockett and Tubbs of fellow 80s classic Miami Vice. Game over, man. Game over.

I’ve always thought that Ciara is one of the most beautiful women in the world, and I get enjoyment just from looking at photos and magazine covers featuring Ciara. But I have to admit, I’ve sort of gone off her a little bit since she married Russell Wilson. I feel like she’s gotten super-judgy and preachy about “saving yourself for marriage” and how single women need to “behave” a certain way to “get a man.” It’s all so… unhelpful. Thankfully, she’s trying to limit that preachy sh-t to Cosmopolitan. She talks about accomplishments, dealing with haters and more. Some highlights:

How Destiny’s Child’s morning news show performance inspired her: “They were killing it, and I just went, ‘This is what I want to do. I’m gonna be an entertainer…’ The first goal I wrote down was to get discovered. The second was to sell 3 to 4 million records. Third, have longevity.”

On her unshakable ambition: “I never thought, I can’t be because of the color of my skin, I can’t be because of my gender. No dream is too big. I want to be a billionaire. The more resources, the more you can do. But I think my greatest accomplishment 10 years from now is that I would have a successful life as it pertains to my marriage and being a mom. It’s cool to want to do all these creative things, but it’s no good to gain the world if you lose your soul.”

On dealing with trolls: “When someone comes for you and you didn’t send for them, you keep your eye on the prize. I know what my mission is. I know what I’m hoping for and working hard for every day. And that’s my focus. I’m not going to let people steal my joy. I move on. New day, new opportunity, new energy, let’s go.”

On her post-baby fitness routine—up to three workouts a day: “It was kind of like, wake up in the morning, breastfeed, eat a small meal, go train, come back in, breastfeed, eat another meal, go train, then come back, have another meal, and then a third training session at night. It was a good challenge, one I set for myself, not for anyone else. Taking care of myself makes me feel really good. And I want to keep it sexy too, you know.”

I wish I had the kind of time, throughout the day, to do multiple smaller workouts instead of one long workout every other day. I think smaller, shorter workouts throughout the day would probably be better for my body overall. But… few people have that kind of time. And I’m glad that she specifies “one I set for myself, not for anyone else.” Because very few people could do that. As for her greatest accomplishment being her marriage and motherhood… I understand what she’s saying.

When celebrities with medical issues get pharmaceutical endorsements I almost always mention that I have mixed feelings. It’s refreshing in that it comes across like a genuine partnership. It also feels like a company is using a popular face and a compelling story to sell a product (at a high price) for people in medical crisis. The FDA vets medication thoroughly and it’s a difficult, expensive process to get a drug approved. However companies also make small changes to drugs once there’s competition just to get a new patent and charge more.

That’s all preface to this story about actress Cobie Smulders, now 36 with two children, recounting her ovarian cancer experience at just 25. She was worried that her fertility would be affected, that she wouldn’t be able to have kids, and she also was frustrated at the lack of information online. This isn’t the first time Cobie has talked about this, she told Women’s Health about it in 2015. Cobie has been married to Taran Killam of SNL since 2012 and they have daughters Shaelyn, 9, and Joelle, 3. She’s now partnering with a company called Tesaro which has a maintenance drug for ovarian cancer called Zejula. It’s priced at upwards of $10,000 a MONTH. Medicare does cover it, although I read one complaint that it costs $3,500 a month with medicare until you meet the deductible. After that it’s $755 a month. Still not affordable for most. (An insider in the pharmaceutical insider told me the high cost may be due to the small population being treated along with the duration of intended treatment.) Here’s what she told People:

When Cobie Smulders was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she was just 25 years old and without a road map on how to get through it.

“It was a mess,” she tells PEOPLE. “I think it was messy mostly because I had a great fear of not being able to have kids. I’ve always been very maternal, I’ve always loved children and I’ve always wanted one of my own, and so having that not being option, especially at such a young age — kids were very much not on my mind at 25, but I still wanted them one day — it was really hard and it was a really depressing thing to go through.”

“I remember doing mad, crazy Google searches on my disease and trying to understand it better, and obviously I was talking to my doctors, but there wasn’t at the time and it was very bleak,” she says.

Smulders went into control mode, and tried everything under the sun to get her body back to health, from cutting out cheese and carbohydrates to yoga classes, acupuncture, crystal healers and more.

Thankfully, her surgeon was able to save enough of her ovaries — just one-third — for her to have two kids (“it was very small but mighty, apparently,” she says) and she has been in remission for nearly a decade.

Smulders resisted talking about her cancer for years, until she revealed her battle in a 2015 issue of Women’s Health.

“For me at the time, I just wanted to deal with it on my own and with my family,” she says now. “I wasn’t interested in sharing it with anybody. It doesn’t really benefit the world until now, when I can say, ‘this is what I went through and I survived it. These are the things I did and these are the things I learned and these are the things I can show you.’ Before it just felt like something I want to deal with myself.”

“There’s a statistic that 85 percent of women who had advanced ovarian cancer had a recurrence, and when you’re faced against those odds it’s a very terrifying place to be in,” she says. “I think for those women, it’s a great opportunity to have treatment options that weren’t available to me when I was going through my own cancer. It’s kind of a new day of more options and more awareness, and a place and a time where you can get more answers.”

If I had ovarian cancer I would want to be on a drug that had been clinically shown to quadruple the time before recurrence. (If I’m reading the wiki page for it accurately.) However I’m appalled at the cost, which seems so prohibitively high. The healthcare system in the US is just so broken and expensive that so many of us face the scary decision of getting treatment or going bankrupt. That issue looms for so many of us no matter how healthy we are now. A medical crisis for us or a family member could easily cost us our livelihoods.

As for Cobie I understand why she’s working with this company and I don’t think that’s necessarily bad. Medicine is a for-profit business and it’s big business. Even for something we consider so personal.

Also I just learned she’s Canadian. Lucky bitch.

90 Day Fiance star Karine Staehle is sharing a pregnancy update. She is now pregnant with her husband Paul’s child. The couple seems really excited about this baby on the way. In Touch Weekly shared that Karine actually just gave an update and she did it in English!

One big issue that Paul and Karine Staehle have with their relationship is the fact that they don’t speak the same language. They have been able to use translation apps on their phones, but now it looks like Karine is learning a bit of English. This will make things so much better for them.

The video was actually on Snapchat and she gave an update on her pregnancy. Fans aren’t used to hearing Karine speak in English, so that was a pretty big shocker to everyone. The crazy thing is her English is really good!

Karine shared in the video that she is excited to meet Pauls’ family and “experience his culture.” The way she is talking it sounds like she has been working really hard on her English. Karine said that the baby is “very active” during her pregnancy. That is a great sign. It has been kicking her as well. She teased that someday the baby will be a good soccer player.

Karine Staehle did have one miscarriage before getting pregnant with this child. The couple seems really excited about the baby on the way. Paul and Karine were together, then got engaged and married. Not long after that, she ended up getting pregnant. Through every bit of this they couldn’t talk to each other in the same language, but somehow they fell in love.

It is great that Karine is giving updates on how the baby is doing. Hopefully, she will continue to do this through her pregnancy. Paul and Karine have had some trouble being back and forth from Brazil. If they were on a future season of 90 Day Fiance then the fans would finally get the answers that they want about where this couple is living now and more.
