Congratulations are in order for JoAnna Garcia Swisher & Nick Swisher.

The Once Upon a Time star, 36, and her baseball player husband, 35, welcomed their second child – daughter Sailor Stevie – on Tuesday, June 28, she announced via Instagram.

“So excited to introduce you to our tiniest princess, Sailor Stevie,” The Astronaut Wives Club star captioned the family photo. “She has stolen our hearts and our family feels complete, Nick, Jo, & Big Sister Emme #SSS”

The newborn joins big sister Emerson Jay, 3.

The couple announced their second pregnancy in February. “Nick, Emme, and I are so excited to finally share this news,” the Grandfathered star captioned the photo montage.

In the shots, the expectant parents posed with their daughter who was seen standing in a crib with an “eviction notice” hanging on the front.

On the same day she announced her pregnancy, the actress debuted her baby bump at an event in L.A.

Congratulations to them!

Intro for July 4, 2016

Dear Gossips,

Mimi performed for the first time at Essence Festival in New Orleans this weekend. And if you couldn’t be there, the next best thing is to read about what it was like for those who were there. Most of the coverage from mainstream outlets was positive. PEOPLE reported on her “stu…

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston prove the sparks are still flying this holiday weekend: https://t.co/NqiM32MNvL pic.twitter.com/lpRq28WR6b

— E! News (@enews) July 4, 2016

As everyone predicted, Tom Hiddleston magically appeared in Rhode Island this weekend for Taylor Swift’s annual Fourth of July bash. This year’s attendees included Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ruby Rose, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and Uzo Aduba. No Selena Gomez? Hm. But whatever girl drama Swifty might have with her squad isn’t the story. No, the story is that even after a days-long “breather” from each other, Taylor and Tom are still in love. TIDDLES IS FOR REAL. The Daily Mail has the best/clearest photos of the beach party here.

Tom wore a “I HEART T.S.” t-shirt. Taylor wore an “America” bikini from Forever 21. They also had temporary tattoos with each other’s names/initials. I can already feel the Bump Watch happening with those photos of Taylor too. For what it’s worth, I examined her bump-area closely too. But I don’t think she’s knocked up. My gut says that she’s put on a few pounds (just a few, literally) because she’s not touring and she’s just on vacation. I will say this though: Taylor redid her boob job. She got a boob job several years back, but I’m now positive that she went and got them redone, with bigger, rounder implants. She has absolutely gone up a cup size at least.

Meanwhile, there were some assorted tabloid/whatever stories this holiday weekend.

*The Daily Mail ran a breakdown of Tom’s ancestral line, because why not? The DM did the same thing with Benedict Cumberbatch a while back, and you can see the DM’s Hiddles story here.

*Tom wants to ignore all of the criticism TIDDLES has been getting. A source told Reveal Mag that “Tom’s been incredibly supportive. When this backlash started, she was worried he’d cut and run, but it’s been the opposite. He’s done wonders to cheer Taylor up, when this is exactly the sort of thing that would normally really upset her. He even made a joke about how they’re moving too fast, and he mock-proposed to her with one of those plastic kiddie rings you get from a bubblegum machine. She thought it was hilarious.” Jesus, are they BOTH 13 years old?

*E! News has been running critical stories about Tiddles for more than a week. Critical as in “is this entire mess a showmance?” Well, E! spoke to Famously Single “dating coach” Laurel House to analyze the Tiddles romance. House thinks Swifty “finally broke her bad boy addiction. ‘Bad’ and ‘boy’ both being operative words. With Calvin, he was a good guy which prepared her for Tom, who is her man. Is it too fast? Is she flaunting it? Maybe! Maybe she’s not going about it the right way, but I do feel like this is authentic. She finally found what she needs: safe, sexy and seen.” I’ll say.

2016 has brought us a “new and improved” Duchess of Cambridge, or so her PR would have us believe. Five years into her role as duchess, Kate is supposed to be feeling more comfortable in her royal role. We’re also supposed to believe that she’s successfully transitioned from her mass-market High Street looks to more expensive and sophisticated designer clothes. Personally, I don’t see much of a difference in her style in the past few years other than the price tags. Which I suspect is the point of this piece at the Daily Mail. While Prince Harry is shopping the bargain bins at Waitrose, Kate is spending her father-in-law’s money on undercooked cinnamon bun hats and doily dresses.

She was once hailed ‘Queen of the High Street’ for championing mid-range clothes within reach of the average woman’s budget. But the Duchess of Cambridge has been re-crowned the ‘Designer Duchess’ after replacing her trusted Zara dresses and Topshop bargains with haute couture. Once a reluctant style icon, Kate –who famously wore a £50 blue Zara dress the day after her wedding – is now almost exclusively choosing high-end gowns, coats and shoes.

And the 34-year-old’s new tastes do not come cheap. Much of her working wardrobe is paid for by the Prince of Wales, who funds William, Kate and Harry’s official activities. Royal accounts published last week show Charles’s ‘other expenditure’, which includes money spent on Kate and his sons, rose 9.5 per cent in a year to £3.2 million – although aides refused to specify how much of that went on Kate’s wardrobe.

The transition has come with the help of an in-house tailor and her personal dresser, 29-year-old Natasha Archer, also based in Kensington Palace. The most expensive item Kate has been seen in this year was a £7,000 pale blue Catherine Walker coat dress, which she wore to the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral last month. While her clothes are now of a better quality, she is increasingly ‘recycling’ outfits she has worn before, including a £2,000 cream-coloured Alexander McQueen coat dress seen at Trooping the Colour in June. And she has finally ditched her trusty £145 LK Bennett court shoes in favour of pumps by Milan-based Gianvito Rossi, costing about £450.

‘Kate is wearing pricier pieces for semi-formal engagements,’ says Susan Kelley, editor of the website What Kate Wore. ‘We’ve seen her in three Dolce & Gabbana lace dresses in the past year which cost more than £6,000 in total. Now, almost all of her special occasion dresses are upscale, luxury labels.’

[From The Daily Mail]

I understand that her wardrobe is supposed to be seen as a “years-long transition,” rather than an overnight change from middle-class girlfriend to high-end duchess. But what strikes me about Kate’s wardrobe is that you really can’t tell which pieces are high-end and which pieces are mass market, and I don’t mean that as a compliment. Some women – the Diane Krugers and Cate Blanchetts of the world – can make inexpensive clothes look rich. Some women – like Kate – make high-end pieces look mass-market. One of the biggest issues with Kate’s clothes is how much she’s spending on personalized tailoring, most of which is unneeded. Or worse yet, the tailoring actually screws up the look. And you have to look no further than her absolutely awful bespoke piece at the Battle of Somme centenary event last Friday to see that this is Kate’s (expensive) vision for how she’s supposed to look. All with Charles’ money!

Last week, the second full-length trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby dropped. I didn’t cover it because A) I didn’t think people would care and B) I found the second trailer even more depressing than the first trailer. While I am excited to see Renee Zellweger return to a celebrated and beloved role, as I see more of the plot, my excitement dies a little bit. I just think baby-daddy hijinks for a woman in her mid-to-late 40s is a bit much, honestly. Out of all the plot lines, they chose that? I understand that they’re basing it off Helen Fielding’s columns, but maybe they shouldn’t have waited so many years to make this one? Here’s the second trailer:

So, yes, I have some complaints. At the heart of those complaints is just plain old disappointment though: the first Bridget Jones movie is as close to perfect as possible. It is arguably one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time. Renee was so good in it that she got an Oscar nom! But 15 years later, we’re getting this mess. And when one critic – Variety’s Owen Gleiberman – expressed his disappointment, he got into a world of trouble. Gleiberman wrote a piece called “Renee Zellweger: If She No Longer Looks Like Herself, Has She Become a Different Actress?” You can read the piece here. It’s supposed to be a “think-piece” about how Zellweger has changed her face so drastically that she’s no longer believable as Bridget Jones, and this guy is personally offended by that. He goes on at length about the pressures of society, and how Zellweger used to be pretty in a normal, believable, girl-next-door sort of way but now she doesn’t look like herself because of her very noticeable plastic surgery and he just goes on and on about it.

So, obviously, Owen Gleiberman got slammed all over the place for being sexist and ageist. If we’re saying that this dude never would have written a long-winded, body-policing think-piece about how Russell Crowe is no longer believable as a leading man because of how HE looks and how HE is ageing, I can see that point, and I agree with it. That is sexist and ageist if we’re just going to go on and on about only the actresses. But… I also think that Gleiberman had a (albeit minor) point? If actors and actresses want to drastically change their looks through plastic surgery, so be it. Live and let live, and your body, your choice. But of course people are going to comment. And some of us even made similar comments when we first saw the set photos of Renee-as-Bridget, that “she doesn’t even look like Bridget” and “why does she look so different?” Of course none of us wrote long-winded hot-take think-pieces for Variety analyzing all of the many ways in which her face disappoints us personally.

Why is it odd for Renée Zellweger to look slightly different than she did 15 years ago, but not odd for Kate Beckinsale to look identical?

@Variety It’s called aging, any by the way, everyone is doing it. We aren’t helping women become stronger by pointing out their ages…

Dear @Variety and @OwenGleiberman .. What a load of sexist GARBAGE. Delete your account(s).

priyanka instyle

In past fashion/magazine posts about Priyanka Chopra, I always note that I think Priyanka is very pretty. That’s true, I do think she’s pretty. But I usually think her styling is off, or her makeup sucks, or magazine editors don’t know what to do with her. There’s usually something wrong. But this InStyle cover is GORGEOUS. Priyanka looks breathtakingly beautiful here, in this Gucci gown. Also shocking: the interview is pretty good too. Some highlights:

Her go-to uniform of jeans & sneakers is still pretty posh: “I shop at high-end stores, but I wear the pieces like they’re from the street. Success should always be worn like a T-shirt, not a tuxedo. That’s when it’s fun. The same is true of fashion. If you’re not comfortable, you’ll never look confident. If you’re not confident, you’re never going to be sexy.”

What makes her feel comfortable & sexy: “I pretty much dress like a boy when I can.”

She’s determined & focused in her love life as in her career: “I’ll stay single until I’m married. I’ve always believed that. I want to be with somebody who has drive but doesn’t take himself too seriously. I don’t like people who are caged within how life should be. Life is transient, and it’s a journey, and I want to be with somebody who can see that.”

Dating versus courting: “I’ve never dated. I’ve always been in relationships. It’s very different [in India]. You like someone, you court each other, you get into a relationship. You’re answerable to each other. Whereas the nonanswerability of dating, my god, I don’t know if I would ever be able to. I’ve never done it, so I don’t know.”

Don’t use the term ‘Bollywood’: “I don’t like the word, because we’re not a miniature Hollywood. We are the Indian film industry, one of the most prolific producers in the world…It’s a ginormous business. We are artists, people who know our jobs. You can put me in front of a camera anywhere in the world and I’ll hit my mark and say my lines and give the director what he wants. I can break out into song and dance as well. I’m kick-ass at that too. That makes me a triple threat, not a stereotype.”

[From People & InStyle]

I understand what she’s saying about courting versus dating, and I have Indian cousins like that too. Some of my cousins even willingly let their parents arrange their marriages as well. True story: I have one cousin who is in an arranged marriage who is very, very happy. He and his wife adore each other and get along very well. Another cousin fell in love with a coworker and they courted/were in a relationship for a short time before getting married, in what we would think of as a modern romance. The marriage was over in just a few months when she cheated on him. It was an amazing scandal in my family, and it became a cautionary tale: don’t let 20-somethings choose their spouses. Hand to God (or Hand to Durga, whatever). As for Priyanka, my guess is that even though she’s 33 years old, she’s probably only been in a few relationships and all of them were with men her family approved of or even set her up with.

This is an Instagram ^ from the British royal family’s official Instagram account. The Queen opened the Scottish Parliament, and the Instagram shows her engaged in a conversation with some of the Scottish MPs. The Instagram account also published some of the Queen’s comments at the Scottish Parliament, which were:

“We all live and work in an increasingly complex and demanding world, where events and developments can, and do, take place at remarkable speed; and retaining the ability to stay calm and collected can at times be hard. As [the Scottish Parliament] has successfully demonstrated over the years, one hallmark of leadership in such a fast-moving world is allowing sufficient room for quiet thinking and contemplation, which can enable deeper, cooler consideration of how challenges and opportunities can be best addressed.”

[Via Instagram]

Which is basically the Queen’s attempt at damage control following the far-reaching political implications of the Brexit vote. “…Retaining the ability to stay calm and collected can at times be hard…” is basically the Queen saying “don’t do something rash and become independent, PLEASE.” While the Queen never said anything ahead of the Brexit vote, she did say something ahead of the Scottish independence vote in 2014, in which Scotland decided to stay with Great Britain. But with the Brexit vote, it’s looking more and more like Scotland will have another referendum, and that if and when Scotland becomes independent, they will join (rejoin) the EU. As a voting bloc, Scotland wanted to Bremain anyway, so the Brexit issue made Scottish independence that much closer.

It was widely believed that the Queen was pro-Brexit before the vote, but now that the proverbial sh-t has hit the fan, the Queen has bregrexit. I will feel slightly sorry for her if her last years as Queen are spent dealing with the Brexit fallout and perhaps seeing Scotland and Northern Ireland leave Great Britain. That’s a kick in the pants, even for the Queen.

Khloe1

Here is Khloe Kardashian’s cover editorial for Glamour Mexico, the July issue. Can’t say I’m a big fan on the dark lipstick on Khloe – it emphasizes the extent to which she’s jacked her lips. Khloe has said that this cover shoot reminded her that she wants to take out her extensions and have short hair again, which I think she should do – I really loved her lob from late last year, and I thought it was super-flattering on her. Meanwhile, Khloe went off on a long-winded tirade about the tabloid interest in her love life, which…yeah, not so much. I have some residual affection for Khloe because I think she’s “the smart one” out of her family, but this essay (on her subscription app) was just dumb. She loves it when we’re paying attention to her love life. She loves it when we’re paying attention to her in any way.

“The most annoying thing about tabloid rumors is the double standard. If I’m ‘spotted’ hanging with a guy at a party – even if I’m just saying hi for a quick second – it immediately becomes a negative headline about how many guys I’m dating or how I’m getting into a new relationship. Men don’t get that reputation! They get a pat on the back. It irritates me.”

“People have taken pictures of me and say they’re proof of something concrete. Pictures are just moments in time. They never show the whole truth. In Hollywood, you could go out on a first date and it could spiral into this huge thing. The headline the next day is ‘Khloé’s Getting Married!’ LOL. It’s so weird. That stuff definitely makes it difficult to take it slow and see how things go.”

“I normally don’t comment on those stories, but if it gets out of control, I’ll speak up – especially because that kind of gossip affects how people see me. A guy could assume I’m dating someone and not approach me, when I’m actually single.”

“Sometimes I completely avoid going out in public with a new guy because I don’t want to deal with the sexist headlines. Too much drama for me!”

[From People]

“I don’t want to deal with the sexist headlines…” that come from the storylines written by Keeping Up with the Kardashians writers. Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of sexism in the tabloids and in tabloid-driven narratives. But hearing a Kardashian complain about her tabloid coverage is like listening to Taylor Swift complain about being perceived as twee and boy-crazy. You are the one driving the narrative!!!

In their interview with Fit Pregnancy, Catherine revealed the day when they found out she was pregnant.

She said, “We weren’t really trying. One day I felt a little sick, so I asked Sean to pick up a pregnancy test. Whenever I feel weird, I take one—and they’re always negative. After I peed on the stick, I climbed into bed without even checking it. Sean asked if he could. When he walked out of the bathroom, he said, “Baby, it’s negative,” and I was like, “Yeah, I thought so.”

“Then he said, ‘And by negative, I mean positive.’ I had to look at the test myself, because I’d never seen a positive before. Then we both looked at each other and had no idea what to do or say. Finally, I said, “Want to watch TV?” We sat in bed in silence for the rest of the night, watching Family Guy. Inside, I was thinking, Oh, crap, we’ve got to be adults now.”

Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio and her family spent time on a boat in Formentera, Spain on Sunday (July 3). The model mom at one point did some yoga moves.

The day before they were all spotted having fun in the sea in Ibiza. Jamie Mazur played on the slide with Anja, 7, while Noah, 4, stayed close to mom.

Besides modeling, Alessandra also has a blog. She recently gave tips on how to look more awake.

She writes: “It goes without saying that the quality of sleep definitely makes the difference. Some people need the recommended 6-8 hours while others do just fine with 5, however if it’s constantly interrupted, your body won’t be able to relax and recover properly. They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!”
