After an inseparable three weeks or so, Swoki might not be breathing each other’s air right now. According Taylor Swift fans who track her private jet (I KNOW – and thanks RA!), her plane left Rome, made a stop in London, and then flew to Rhode Island. Tom Hiddleston was indeed seen in London yes…

Here are some photos of Johnny Depp out last night in LA. He was having dinner with his kids at Ago, an Italian restaurant. I know there are a lot of reasons to hate/dislike Depp these days, but since I’m a superficial person, can we just talk about his ridiculous styling for a second? The jacket is bad enough – and truly, it is an eyesore – but how many g—damn necklaces does Johnny need to wear? I tried counting them and I couldn’t even figure it out. He’s wearing more than a dozen necklaces at once PLUS BABY SCARVES. Also, on a superficial level… he’s lost weight in the past month, lending credence to the idea that he was on private island to dry out (and de-bloat).

Anyway, Depp has been back in LA since last weekend. He went to the Comedy Store last Saturday, and this week he stopped by a radio station to give an interview about music and The Hollywood Vampires. He did not get any questions about Amber Heard or the divorce or how he’s allegedly an abusive monster. You can hear the interview here. Who cares?

What else? Depp sold two of his Basquiat paintings at a Christie’s auction last night. The two paintings (“Pork” and “Self-Portrait”) went for $4,745,258 and $6,838,538. The paintings were estimated to go for $4.8 million total, so Depp really got a major profit.

There’s also this weird story about Kate Moss. I remember hearing that Depp had several dresses made for Moss over the course of their relationship, and Moss kept those dresses, perhaps in her archives. So, Kate has a small role in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, and she wore one of those Depp dresses in the film, only she gave the dress to the costume designers and they just copied it. This story is being called “a subtle dig” at Depp. How is that a dig though? If anything, I think it says that Moss cared enough to save those dresses.

Kim Kardashian did an event earlier this week to celebrate her July cover of GQ. At the event, Kim chatted with Women’s Wear Daily about her GQ cover but not the content of the interview, as in… no questions about Taylor Swift and how Kim is the meanest meanie who ever mean-girled (so Swifty says). Kim also talked about Kanye West’s terrible “Famous” video, her diet and more. Some highlights:

Why she decided to pose naked for GQ: “GQ is iconic, so when I got the call to do their anniversary cover, the summer issue, I thought, “You know what? It’ll be a really good goal to motivate me to get me to do my diet perfectly.” I still wasn’t quite at my goal weight when we shot it, but I was working so hard and it was that motivation for me. You set a date for a shoot and you know you have to be there. It made me feel so good about myself knowing I had come so far. I had to lose, like, 60 pounds to get there. I had just had my second baby. I thought, “I want to feel sexy again. I want to feel good about myself,” and that was what did it for me.”

Her post-baby workout & diet: “I woke up every day at six in the morning and worked out. I did a strict Atkin’s diet. Strict, strict, strict. It was really hard for me to diet [with the] first baby. This time was so much easier and I realized [it comes down to] the food. I mean, I love to work out and you definitely have to work out to tone up, but so much of it is how you eat. I had to really stay focused. I had to cut out all the sweets and I had such a sweet tooth. After-baby body? I welcome that challenge.”

Kanye wants Kim to be more like Carine Roitfeld: “I think I was super-trendy and then I learned a lot about fashion being with Kanye. Years ago, like maybe 2009, he gave me a Carine Roitfeld book and said, “This should be your fashion bible. She is everything.” And now, having worked with her and having her pick out clothes that I wear is incredible. It’s such a full-circle moment, such a dream come true. I love fashion. And I love to experiment, try new things. I think my style has evolved a lot; the more you know, the more you travel, the more you meet people, you become educated and you [dress] better.

Her summer plans:
“We’re shooting [season 13 of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”] I would love a vacation, but I don’t know if I’m going to get one this summer. My husband starts his tour, so we’re going to do that with the babies. His tour is super easy. He does a few weeks, and then he’s home for a few weeks. It’ll be fun.

Her kids’ latest milestones: “North just turned three. Saint is, like, almost standing. He’s only six months, but he is literally almost standing. It’s wild. He’s the best. He’s the sweetest. I showed him a dog today. He got a little scared. North loves dogs, so I said, “If you talk your dad into getting you a dog, your brother has to be comfortable,” and he was so not comfortable, so it saved me for a little bit longer from having to go and get a dog. She’s not cleaning up after it, so I want to stall for as long as possible.

What she thought of Kanye’s “Famous” video: “I actually never saw the final edit of it. I did that kind of on purpose because I love to be surprised. It was, like, three, four months in the making, so I obviously knew it was going on, but I didn’t actually see the final cut until he debuted it at The Forum. It was really cool.

[From WWD]

Reading an interview with Kim in WWD just reminds me that the war is sort of over. Meaning that Kim will never be the most popular or well-liked person on any blog, but we can no longer debate that she has gained acceptance as A) a legit celebrity, B) someone interesting in fashion, C) someone fashion people acknowledge. WWD even asked her about which photographers she would love to work with and she named Steven Meisel and Mario Testino, and I was surprised because I honestly thought Meisel and Testino had already photographed her.

A few other points… if Kanye wanted to be with a woman who looks and dresses like Carine Roitfeld, why in the world did he marry Kim? And I was genuinely charmed by the story about North wanting a dog and Saint not being into it. Although I really hope they don’t get a dog, because I don’t think Kim and Kanye would be good animal-parents. Remember poor Mercy Kardashian? That poor cat.

Meet Shane Maness!

“Week one down with the new BFF. Our girl Shane is killing the newborn game,” Parenthood star Erika Christensen, 33, Instagrammed the first image of her baby girl.

The actress and her cyclist husband Cole Maness welcomed their first child via home birth on June 21.

The Swimfan star delivered her daughter at her California home and took to Twitter during labor.

“I’m in labor. Right now,” Christensen tweeted that night.

The couple – who were wed in September – announced their pregnancy news in April.

Liev Schreiber covers the July issue of Esquire. The editorial really captured his gritty kind of vulnerability and I love the photo of him with the pit bull. He’s promoting the fourth season of Ray Donovan, which premiered this Sunday and has started out strong and entertaining as usual. Without giving spoilers, I’ve seen the first two episodes (Showtime PR is awesome they send it to us ahead of time) and I really like the direction they’re going. It’s rare for a show to be this consistently good, and as this piece explains that may be due to Schreiber’s influence. He’s an executive producer as well as the star and he has a lot of control over production. The interview and profile are thoughtful and fair, which is a relief as Esquire used to publish snarky pieces on celebrities which seemed unnecessarily negative. (Several journalists did this, so I can only assume it was an executive decision.)

The piece draws parallels between Schreiber’s Ray Donovan character and his own struggle with darkness, but it’s like they’re either only scratching the surface or he’s just a stand up guy. Liev talks about how he met and fell in love with his partner, Naomi Watts, and how she made the first move by giving him her phone number. (Outlets will run this like it’s new, but they actually told this story to Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes in 2014.) He seems frustrated without his family and kids around, and he smokes a lot and works long hours, apologizing for the moments he gets a little grumpy and bossy. Also they talk about his difficult childhood. He was raised alone in NY City by a single mom who was an eccentric artist. They were poor and he stole things at a young age but learned his lesson. His brothers and half brothers stayed with his dad. (You may know his half brother, Pablo, as pornstache from Orange Is The New Black.) I would recommend you read the full piece if you’re a Liev fan like me and here are some highlights:

Liev and Naomi on how they met
“She said [after the Met Gala in 2005], ‘What are you doing later on—you want to go dancing?’ And I was like, yeah. So I went down to this club that she told me to meet her at, and of course she was there with Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro, and I’m kind of standing around like a bump on a log, waiting for my turn. I think I was nervous, and I felt very embarrassed being there, and self-conscious, because all these movie stars were hovering, and I felt … awkward and out of my element. And I wasn’t going to make a good impression. So I said, ‘I’m sorry, but I gotta go home.’”

What happened next Schreiber calls very ballsy: “She chased me outside and said, ‘Don’t you want my digits?’”

“It was the first thing that came to me,” Watts recalls. “I’ve never said those words before in my life and never since.”

The following day, they went out for cupcakes. “It was very silly—very romantic. And we had a kiss—not a big kiss, but it was a kiss that was like, ooh. Then she went back to L. A. and I wrote her all the time. Lots of emails. I think that was it—seduced by email.”

The meeting was a time he can point to when his life changed. “I decided I was going to make a family with this person. For better or for worse, I stepped into a partnership with somebody. We were gonna bring kids into this world and try to love and respect each other.”

On how he is on set
Soon he will start shooting a scene in a dusty abandoned nightclub. It will go awry; the script has gaps in logic. He’ll take the writer aside and firmly say, “You wrote this episode—take control,” and then the following day he’ll explain that he regrets doing that in front of the crew. This is a frequent conflict: needing it to be right but also being mindful of people’s feelings. He will keep shooting the scene until the early hours of the next day.

He is also a producer on the show, which means he reads every script and is involved in a multitude of decisions. He directs, shapes scenes, consults writers, talks with editors, puts in sixteen-hour days, all for a character who separates him from his own children. And then there’s the overwhelming compulsion to get it right…

There is a giant monitor on which Schreiber watches himself as Ray, and then he gives instructions. Occasionally, he’ll jump off the couch and point to the screen. “That dissolve is too Hitchcocky,” he says pointedly. They try it again. And again. Until it’s right.

On missing his family
“I underestimated in the past how hard this show is to do. This season—not having my family with me—has really made me feel the isolation of Ray a little bit more.”

Home is New York but the series shoots in Los Angeles, and he’s now at the end of four months without his family. “I need intimacy,” he says. “Part of the thing about being famous, being on a television show, is that there’s this weird sort of film between you and everybody else. And it’s so nice when your kid jumps up on you and you feel his breath on your cheek.”

On growing through adversity
“Adversity can be a powerful learning tool. It is a beacon for some people,” he says. “And that can be habitual. When you’re in a bad situation, you’re accustomed to growing through pain, so you’re always willing to wade into the worst part, because that’s how you learn.”

He worries about his kids growing up sheltered by his success. That perhaps the insulated life they have, with wealth and privilege, isn’t exposing them, as he was exposed, to hardship, and they will miss out on the tools necessary to grow from overcoming it.

“But I think adversity will find them. The best we can do is prepare them for the inevitability of that…

“I’m trying not to seek out the adversity just because it’s of value,” he says. “You asked what I need? To have patience with myself, and to be gentle with myself.”

[From Esquire]

We’ve heard that Liev and Naomi are having problems and the way he talks about her is more about commitment and family than adoration. I like to think they’re okay though, and that this is normal couple stuff after ten years. It sounds like he’s struggling balancing his family and career and with his past somewhat. Ray Donovan could relate. Everything Liev brings to the character must be part of the reason it’s such an incredible show. That and the fact that his acting is superb.

As of Wednesday, Tom Hiddleston and Taylor Swift were still in Italy. They stopped by the Vatican, which…? Okay. I would probably enjoy seeing the Vatican too, even though I’m not Catholic and neither are Tom and Taylor. Tiddles even coordinated their outfits, because of course they did. According to Us Weekly, as they walked around the Vatican, “they held hands and kept to themselves while others appeared to stop and take photos of them.” A source also tells Us Weekly: “Tom said he hasn’t found the right woman yet. But he thinks Taylor is the girl he has been searching for.” Is Tom really that much of a romantic? In pre-Tiddles interviews, he talked about wanting to find The One and all of that, but would he frame it as “Taylor might be the girl he was searching for this whole time”?

A few more notes…

*E! did a cost analysis of what The Glorious Tiddleshagging of 2016 has cost thus far – go here to see. E! claims that Taylor has spent about $85K on the romance thus far, which just means that she really should be declaring this romance as a business expense.

*W Magazine finally released their “In Bed with the Hottest TV Stars” feature, the feature for which Tom stripped down to his man-panties and posed liked an awkward-ass catalogue model. You can see W’s NSFW slideshow here – it also includes Sarah Paulson, Thandie Newton, Anthony Mackie, Hugh Dancy and more.

*Will Tiddles celebrate Independence Day together? This is me asking – Taylor usually throws a big party in Rhode Island or New York for the 4th of July, and she often Instagrams the party too. Will we get Taylor’s first social media photos of The Tiddlebanging?

*In case you were wondering if Tom was just going to hide out in Australia this summer, filming the third Thor film, well… who knows? But he will be in San Diego in late July for Comic-Con. It was just announced yesterday that there will be a big Comic-Con push for Kong: Skull Island and Tom is supposed to be there. Will he bring his Tiddlebanging partner to San Diego? Hm.

Last thing: these kissing photos are still one of the funniest things to come out of The Glorious Tiddleshagging of 2016.

As I get older, I become more and more of a morning person. Which means that on weekdays, I’m usually up and eating breakfast in time for the first 20 minutes of Morning Joe, MSNBC’s absolutely awful morning show with hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough. Nothing gets my blood churning in the morning like Joe Scarborough pontificating on politics. I would honestly find a new morning show to watch, except that at 6 am, Morning Joe is basically the best thing on the air. It’s sad. Anyway, over the years, people have made a big deal about Mika and Joe’s on-air and off-screen chemistry, how they’re like an bickering old married couple and they have each other’s backs and all of that. I didn’t think much of it. As it turns out though, there was something there. Joe quietly got a divorce several years back and Mika has just finalized her divorce. And now everyone’s saying Mika and Joe are together?

“Morning Joe” hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough could soon go public as a couple. Page Six has exclusively learned that Brzezinski and her husband of 23 years have quietly divorced. Popular MSNBC stars Scarborough and Brzezinski are widely rumored to be romantically involved — and there’s plenty of on-air chemistry for all to see. But while Scarborough is also divorced — since 2013 — the TV duo have never confirmed they’re romantically involved.

An NBC insider told us, “Everybody at 30 Rock knows they are a couple .?.?. They are constantly together, they arrive and leave events together, even on weekends. They are each other’s publicists and finish each other’s sentences. It’s the worst kept secret in TV.”

Brzezinski, 49, and her ex-husband, WABC Eyewitness News investigative reporter James Hoffer, who married in 1993, have undergone an under-the-radar divorce, which was recently settled, we’re told. They have two teenage daughters. Scarborough, 53, divorced Susan Waren, a former aide to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, in 2013 after a 12-year marriage. The former couple, who have two children together, separated the previous year.

An MSNBC spokesperson confirmed to Page Six, “Mika’s divorce was finalized in the past year. She’s really grateful that it was done amicably and in private. This has, of course, been a painful time for her family. So right now she is focused on her two teenage daughters, and on continuing to heal.”

The spokesperson declined to comment on the status of her relationship with Scarborough.

A friend of the “Knowing Your Value” author said: “Mika has always been very open — in her books and elsewhere — about her failures and disappointments in life, her struggles with eating disorders, her career, the ups and downs of parenting.” The friend added, “I’m sure down the road she’ll want to share more about this experience, but right now she thinks it’s best for her family to have some privacy.”

[From Page Six]

I’m genuinely surprised to learn that that Mika quietly got a divorce – she’s always making references to her husband and her kids on-air, although now that I think about it, the references to her husband have been few and far between in the past year. So have Mika and Joe been banging this whole time? Did they both cheat on their spouses and make a promise to each other to leave their partners for each other? The only thing nice I have to say about this is that I sort of like that their affair (alleged affair) took place in a work context, and that they’re close in age (he’s 53, she’s 49) and it’s not a situation where Joe left his wife for some 22-year-old intern. That’s the only good thing I can say about this “morning show scandal.” Their poor spouses! Both of the exes are probably wondering how long this affair has been happening.

Now that Malia Obama has graduated from high school, her mom organized some special summer plans. Michelle and her two daughters (Sasha and Malia) and her mother (Marian Robinson) are in the midst of a fun summer tour. This isn’t a vacation, per se. There’s work to be done! Three generations of Robinson-Obama ladies already toured Morocco and Liberia to highlight Let Girls Learn, an education initiative aimed at insuring quality education for girls in developing nations. These photos are from the ladies’ stop in Spain this week. Most of the pics are from their arrival yesterday in Madrid, where the ladies greeted the American ambassador in Spain. I’m also including some photos of Michelle speaking today at a Let Girls Learn event in Madrid attended by Queen Letizia. You can see more about Michelle’s work with Let Girls Learn here at the FLOTUS Twitter handle.

Michelle made a Duchess Kate-esque statement when she got off the plane and her dress and hair started blowing everywhere. Unlike Kate though, Michelle managed to wrangle her dress and so we didn’t have a real Marilyn Moment from FLOTUS. The Obama daughters were also wearing dresses, and Malia’s Nasty Gal dress was having some blowing-up issues too, but Malia held her hem down and it was fine. Malia’s dress is somewhat inexpensive – just $78. Pretty affordable for the president’s daughter. Michelle chose a more expensive look: her dress is by Proenza Schouler, and it costs $1800. To be fair though, Michelle repeats looks all the time, and she pays full-price for clothes (she has to as FLOTUS).

I like Michelle’s dress a lot, which is weird considering I usually don’t care for Proenza Schouler. What I find really interesting about Michelle’s tenure as first lady is that she’s really embraced not just American designers, but new and emerging American designers. For the most part, first ladies just go with a handful of established designers, but Michelle branched out and wore off-beat stuff from younger designers consistently throughout her husband’s administration. Just one of the many, many reasons why I’ll miss the hell out of the Obamas.
