David Oyelowo made his feature directorial debut at TIFF with The Water Man, a kid-adventure story that is a little bit The Goonies, a little bit Stand By Me, and a lot The Bridge to Terabithia. Oyelowo sets a decent-sized task for himself, tackling not only an emotional family-in-crisis story, but …

miranda shape

Miranda Kerr covers the September issue of Shape Magazine. September 2020, although with that hairstyle, you would think it was 1997. I’ve always thought Miranda is legitimately beautiful in a doll-like way, but that hair, yeeeesh. Anyway, I have no idea what Miranda is promoting beyond her Kora Organics skincare line, so that’s probably it. She chatted with Shape about her self-help book vibes, waking up to a detox smoothie, charitable donations and more:

Her mornings: “I wake up at 5:30 a.m. and have 32 ounces of filtered water with lemon, 32 ounces of celery juice, and a heavy metal detox smoothie . I’ve been doing kriya yoga meditation for years, along with yoga stretches. Then a shower and self care with Kora products. I’m done before the kids wake up, and I’m ready for my day.”

On motherhood: “Being a mother makes me feel strong. You would do anything for your children, no matter what. There’s so much strength in that.”

She’s a leader who listens: “Knowing my strengths is really important. I try my best to listen to my team, because to be a good leader, you have to be a good listener.”

Giving back: “We… support Harvest Home, a shelter for pregnant women and new mothers in Los Angeles, and the Royal Hospital for Women in Australia. As a family, we donated to 29 organizations [when the coronavirus pandemic began], and Kora is part of the BeautyUnited initiative for first responders in America and Australia. We had already been donating to the Equal Justice Initiative. We also donate to Black Lives Matter and the NAACP.”

She has an 80-20 rule. “You can eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and organic produce, but being happy and enjoying that food with others is just as important. I apply that in all areas of my life. I’m like 80 percent good girl and 20 percent naughty.”

[From Shape]

When Gwyneth Paltrow talks about eating French fries and guzzling martinis, I actually believe that she “cheats” on whatever her diet is that way. But Miranda? I’m sorry, her version of “naughty” food is probably like “put two black olives on the salad, mama’s feeling crazy!” As for how she starts her day… honestly, covering all of these celebrity interviews did make me change my morning routine. I really do start every morning with regular water now, and I guess I should probably start adding lemon to it. But a heavy metal detox smoothie? Ugh. I could NOT first thing in the morning.

A few years ago, I learned that Nicole Kidman is a cat person. She wasn’t keeping it a secret or anything – she posts photos and videos of her two fluffy kitties, Snow and Ginger, quite regularly. But since I rarely checked her Instagram, I only found out about her Cat Person credentials when I read a 2018 interview, where she talked a lot about how much she loves her kitties and how she bought them kitty-carrier backpacks so they can go hiking with her.

Well, it looks like Nicole is officially up to THREE cats. To me, having one cat says that you like cats. Having two cats says you want them to have each other’s company, and two cats are pretty manageable. But three cats is… a lot. Three cats = cat lady. People always say that cats are easier to manage than dogs and while that’s true, you’d be SHOCKED at how much time and energy two cats or three cats can take up.

Anyway, Nicole’s new fur baby is named Louis and he’s a rescue. I love him already. Oh, and Nicole and Keith also adopted a puppy last year! One dog and three cats in Nashville.

Nicole’s “cat voice” is amazing. I also have a different voice when speaking to or for my cats.

No Time to Die still isn’t out in the theaters. It was supposed to come out earlier this year (April) but the pandemic happened and… yeah, you know. When the promotion began ramping up, it was supposed to be Daniel Craig’s swan song, his final outing as 007, and it was going to be bittersweet but thank God he was finally done with it. It was always clear that Barbara Broccoli (who co-owns the franchise) wanted Daniel to stay even longer, and she’s prepared to pay him whatever he wants, but he’s the one saying “no mas.” Which means that we get to spend the next two years talking about “who will be the next James Bond.” Tom Hiddleston just winced and buried himself under five heavy blankets. But what if the new favorite is *another* Tom?

Tom Hardy could be set to replace Daniel Craig as the next James Bond, according to new reports. The actor, 43, has been one of the bookies favourites to become the next 007 in recent years, and rumours have been circulating he will step into Craig’s shoes after his fifth and final film, No Time To Die.

The Vulcan Reporter reports they heard in June that Hardy had been offered the iconic part after a successful audition, while bookies odds on the star have now been slashed in half. The publication reports producers had planned to unveil Tom as James Bond in November- the same month No Time To Die was due to be released.

However, due to the coronavirus pandemic the Vulcan Reporter state the announcement will now be made later this year or early 2021. Meanwhile, the bookies have slashed odds on The Peaky Blinders star from 8/1 to just 4/5 in the past 24 hours after a flurry of bets.

[From The Daily Mail]

Do you want me to be Debbie Downer or do you want to enjoy the thought of a pillow-lipped bloke as Bond? I can do both! First of all, I think Tom would do a good job with Bond, I really do. I think he’s got the talent, he’s good at stunt work, and yes, he’s sexy as hell. It would be great to see him in the role. Now, let me put my Debbie Downer wiglet on: Tom Hardy isn’t going to be the next Bond. He would rather claw out his own eyes than sign on to this kind of demanding franchise for what would likely be a ten to fifteen year commitment. And besides that, Barbara Broccoli doesn’t roll on that kind of time table. She’s not going to announce Craig’s replacement two seconds after NTTD comes out. She’s going to wait to see if she can convince Craig to come back one more time, and when he says no, then she’ll start seriously considering other actors.

Taylor Swift’s political work has really impressed me ever since 2018. That was when she came out of the political closet, declared herself a Democrat who believes in LGBTQ rights and women’s rights, endorsed a Democrat for Tennessee’s Senate seat, and got her Snake Fam to register to vote. Throughout 2020, Taylor has been using social media to call out Donald Trump, slam white supremacy and advocate for Black Lives Matter. But what has she done for us lately?!? LOL, I’m joking! Taylor used her IG Stories on Tuesday to once again encourage her fans to register to vote (Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day) and she gave them some links and resources to get started:

I know people love IG Stories and all of that, but this could have been a stand-alone permanent Instagram post. I’m nitpicking, but still. I really and honestly hope Taylor does more work in the next six weeks to get people to vote. (Also: HER BANGS OMG.)

Meanwhile, Kendall Jenner did an IG Live event with political operative Jon Favreau yesterday too. I love that all of these younger women are using their platforms this way. Y’all know that Kendall is far from my favorite person, but this is GREAT.
