Taylor Swift has a long history of attending the Vanity Fair Oscar party, so I genuinely hoped we would see her step out on Oscar night. Joe Alwyn attended the actual Oscar ceremony because he was part of The Favourite, and as many in the Snake Fam predicted, Taylor did travel from London to LA with Joe to attend some of the parties. The problem is that she didn’t pose for photos on the carpet at the VF party! Lame. But all of the trade papers tracked her movements:

Taylor Swift didn’t attend the 2019 Oscars, but she was definitely the talk of the after-party celebrations! The superstar singer was spotted at Vanity Fair’s annual Oscars bash on Sunday evening alongside her longtime love, The Favourite actor Joe Alwyn. Photos posted on social media show Alwyn and Swift chatting with friends at the celebration. In one picture, Swift can be seen standing in a group with BFFs Martha Hunt and Camila Cabello, as well as the singer’s boyfriend, Matthew Hussey.

According to the L.A. Times, Swift and Alwyn were spotted “chowing down on burgers” at the VF party “sans any security.” The couple also attended Fox’s Oscars after-party, which was held at the Hollywood Athletic Club. Variety reports that Swift “kept a low profile” at the celebration as she and Alwyn chatted with his co-star, Nicholas Hoult. But, the outlet adds, the “biggest moment of the night” occurred when the couple left the party.

“Because before she made her way out of the party, she was so low-key in a private corner of the soiree, barely anyone even noticed she was there,” according to Variety.

I find it hard to believe that Taylor Swift – arguably the biggest pop star in the world – can move around Oscar afterparties with no security, not walk any of the carpets and not get photographed at all by professional photographers or paparazzi, all of whom have swarmed all of the parties. It’s remarkable. The only pieces of evidence of her attendance really are grainy social media photos and videos.

Incidentally, the header Instagram, of Tay sitting on a staircase, that’s from Oscar night. She wore a Ralph & Russo dress. And she’s sitting on the SEVENTH step, which has led the Snake Fam to believe that she will soon drop her seventh album, because SNAKE CLUES.

Hannah Beachler’s Oscar speech for Best Production Design for Black Panther was one of the most heartfelt and meaningful of the night. A lot of people praised Beachler’s co-designer, Jay Hart, for letting Beachler have that moment. After seeing their backstage press conference, he might just be a shy guy who is more comfortable letting her speak. He clearly adores her and kept smiling and nodding while she was speaking. If it was him speaking instead of her, we would assume he was the leader, right? So she’s the leader and she just earned an Oscar for her role in creating one of the most immersive and convincing environments on screen. I really enjoyed her interview backstage and wanted to discuss it! (The part I quote below starts at about 3 minutes into the video which is also embedded below.)

At the art directors guild and tonight you talked about finding those moments where you stayed stronger. Could you reflect about those points where you felt insecure?
Everyone goes moments of struggle and depression ‘this is so hard I’m not going to be able to make it and do it.’ It’s really about the people you surround yourself with. So having Jay, having Victoria Alonso [producer] and Kevin Feige [president of Marvel] and Nate Moore [producer] and Ryan Coogler [director] and Lindsay Coogler. Their being patient and lifting me up every day, that’s how you get through it. It’s like eating an elephant one spoonful at a time because Panther was ginormous. There was a lot to do and a lot of research. A 500 page bible. It was nonstop so you lean on the people that you love and that are family. I would consider Ryan and everyone on Panther part of my family.

Sandra from The Root: I predicted [during our interview] that a little black girl was going to be inspired by you. What would you say to her for the future of production design?
Don’t ever let anybody tell you you can’t do this craft. You are worthy and you are beautiful and this is something for you.

Was there any advice that you were given that changed the course of your career?
The advice that changed everything for me was when I arrived in Oakland all those years ago with Ryan on the first day. He said ‘just be honest and be truthful and be you. If you’re not yourself this is never going to work.’

What resonated with you when you first stepped on Black Panther’s [finished] set?
The first set I walked on to that was completed was the casino. I was driving into work and I knew that they were finishing up the night before. The stage door happened to be opened. I thought ‘let me pull over and walk in.’ Nobody was there and the lights were on. I walked in, and I walked to the middle of that set and I just fell to my knees and cried. I never thought that I would have that opportunity to do something on that scale. I never saw anyone like me have an opportunity to do something like that on that scale. I attribute that to Ryan Coogler and Marvel films. It felt like it does now.

That last story! Now I’m crying and inspired. I also could relate so much to what she said about struggling and leaning on your coworkers and considering them family. I love Kaiser and Hecate so much and I miss the people we used to work with like Corey and Bedhead and still think about them a lot. You do feel connected and supported by your coworkers and consider them family. For as much trash as the Oscars were this year by rewarding that POS movie, we still have Hannah and also Black Panther’s costume designer, Ruth E. Carter. We know Spike Lee and Ryan Coogler directed the best movies and we know that there are more to come because they were successful.

In the week before the Oscars, we were following several trashy gossip stories, so I thought we would check in with some of those stories to see what’s been happening while everyone else paid attention to the Oscars. Khloe Kardashian finally dumped Tristan Thompson about a week ago, when she learned that he cheated on her with Jordyn Woods, who is Kylie Jenner’s BFF. Jordyn has moved out of Kylie’s guest house and she’s been seen looking depressed in public. Meanwhile, Khloe is trying to brand herself as some proud single woman who would never take sh-t from any man, despite the fact that she took sh-t from Tristan’s cheating ass for two years.

Khloe posted some gross Instagrams of herself, Kendall Jenner and Kourtney in various scandalous outfits, and I guess the message is supposed to be “Khloe is single and ready to mingle.” Although those photos just look like she got all dressed up to hang out with her sisters, but whatever. Khloe also got a haircut, which is similar to the choppy bob she had several years ago (which I loved at the time, but now I think her hair looks grossly overprocessed). But the weirdest rumor to circulate in the wake of Khloe and Tristan’s breakup is this: Khloe is possibly being considered to be the next Bachelorette? The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise is extremely lucrative and popular here in America, but they’ve never had a reality star from another show as their lead person. So is there any truth to the matter?

Khloé Kardashian is shutting down speculation that she’s the next Bachelorette. The reality star threatened legal action against The Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss following a string of tweets in which Fleiss said he’d been in contact with Kris Jenner about the possibility of Kardashian starring on the ABC series.

“I’m not f—ing clickbait right now,” Kardashian wrote on Twitter Saturday. “Stop or you will be hearing from my lawyers. How insensitive!!”

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 34, was responding to a Fleiss tweet in which he said that Kardashian would be unable to tell sister Kim Kardashian West about the gig because of “strict confidentiality agreements.” Fleiss, 54, first floated the idea of having Khloé star in her own season of The Bachelorette on Wednesday, after the star’s personal life was rocked by an alleged cheating scandal involving boyfriend Tristan Thompson, 27, and Jordyn Woods, 21, the best friend of Khloé’s youngest sister, Kylie Jenner, 21.

On Thursday, Fleiss wrote that any decision regarding Khloé’s possible appearance on the show would need to be approved by his “dear friend” Kris — and one day later, Fleiss said he and Kris “have already been in contact.”

So there you go. Khloe won’t be the new Bachelorette, although that would be a horrendously watchable trainwreck. My guess is that Khloe’s next boyfriend will be someone in the music community, then after that guy, she’ll date another basketball player, and then on and on.

It was widely believed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went on holiday last week. Both Princess Charlotte and Prince George had a week-long break from school, and the British papers widely reported that the family had hopped away for a private ski holiday. The family vacation was even one of the reasons cited for why Kate didn’t attend Meghan’s baby shower (lol). I kept expecting to see Kensington Palace release one or more family photos from the ski vacation, but nothing came out. So… would it shock you to hear that it sounds like Kate and the kids didn’t even go on vacation? They were apparently in Norfolk the whole time?

The Duchess of Cambridge treated her children to a half term swimming treat at a luxury spa last week. But ever glamorous, Kate was spotted in the pool wearing ‘full makeup, pearl earrings and her iconic engagement ring’, one onlooker has revealed. Despite claims that they family had gone skiing during the week-long break, the duchess, along with her two eldest children, Prince George, five, and Princess Charlotte, three, actually slipped into a luxury Norfolk hotel complex – which the Mail is not naming for security reasons – on Tuesday afternoon.

Wearing a maroon swimsuit, she tried to blend in amongst relaxing couples but onlookers quickly spotted the family during their half-hour splash about. Kate, 37, apparently organised swimming races for the children and afterwards they practised little dives off the side. The royal trio then all went into the sauna and steam room.

One onlooker told the Mail: ‘Kate looked stunning. She had full make up one while she was in the pool. And she had drop pearl earrings and her engagement ring. ‘Her hair up in a butterfly type hair clip and looked extremely elegant.’ The royal fan said that both George and Charlotte were impeccably behaved. ‘The children were very well behaved and both were practising their diving from the side. Kate was organising little races for them and they did it around four or five times. She said “ready, steady go” and did a downward chopping action in the water to indicate the start of the race.’

Has anyone ever seen Kate without a full face of makeup, damn. Why even wear makeup if you’re going to play in the pool with your kids? I know a lot of women wear makeup to the gym too, which always seems like such a waste of time and effort, but what do I know. But the bigger story here is that despite multiple reports of a quiet family ski holiday, Kate and the kids were in Norfolk. But where was William? Was he there in Norfolk too? Or did he go on a ski holiday with his dude-friends and it was predictably hushed up?
