Royals officially open the V&A Museum in Dundee

The Daily Mail did the absolute dumbest story and I absolutely love it. They’ve taken a few pieces of old gossip and added a deliciously dumb patina of bullsh–t on top of it. The DM story is about royal nicknames within the Windsor family. As in, the nicknames the royals have amongst themselves. It’s an old story that Prince Charles and Camilla call each other Fred and Gladys – those names are actually a remnant of bygone days, when he was married to Diana and carrying on his affair with Camilla. We’ve also heard before that Charles calls Duchess Meghan “Tungsten” because she’s so strong, or something. But the DM wants us to also believe that William and Kate have mean pet names for each other: Prince Baldy and Duchess of Dolittle? LMAO. No.

Every family has them: affectionate, often comical pet names – and the Windsors are no exception if the rumours are true. From the Queen herself to the royal family’s bit-part players including Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton, no-one is apparently safe from a fun-poking moniker. And hilariously, William and Kate’s names have evolved with their relationship.

According to royal sources, when the pair were in the first flushes of romance back in 2001, the Duke of Cambridge, 36, was named ‘Big Willy’ by his wife-to-be, 37. Fast-forward 18 years and now Kate’s pet name for her husband appears to be ‘Prince Baldy’ referring to his thinning crown. William’s riposte? Apparently Kate is called ‘DoD’, the ‘Duchess of Dolittle’, a little unfair considering the amount of charity work the royal regularly undertakes.

THE QUEEN: Gary, ‘Gan-Gan’
PRINCE WILLIAM: Big Willy, Prince Baldy
DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE: ‘DoD’, the Duchess of Do-little’
PRINCE CHARLES: Fred
PRINCE HARRY: Flash, Gromit, Potter
THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX: Tungsten
PRINCE GEORGE: PG Tips
PIPPA MIDDLETON: Squeak

First of all… men are sensitive about their baldness, and William is EXTRA sensitive. Calling him “Baldy” would not be received well. As for William calling Kate any variation of Dolittle… um, no. He’s not doing that. Now, that might be Kate’s nickname in *some* royal circles though. But William’s not calling her that.

I’m not sure how many of you know this but The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s, Rachel Brosnahan, was designer Kate Spade’s niece. Rachel’s father was Kate’s brother. When Kate died last year, Rachel posted this lovely tribute to her:

Knowing Katy, this is how she would want to be remembered. She had a light that words can’t capture but touched everyone she came into contact with. She was exceedingly kind, beautifully sensitive, insanely talented, funny as heck and one of the most generous people I have ever known. She was effervescent. Hug your loved ones extra tight today.

Since selling her eponymous brand in 2006, Kate Spade had relaunched a new brand, Frances Valentine, with her best friend, Elyce Arons. Elyce, and Rachel are working together to pay tribute to Kate with a new line, Love, Katy. And one way they are doing so is by having the award-winning, white-hot -in-Hollywood Rachel be the face for the campaign. During their interview on Today, Hoda Kotb asked Rachel what she’s lost the day Kate died:

One of the closest members of our family certainly and as I said, one of the kindest and most generous people I ever had the privilege of knowing. We were so touched hearing in the wake of this unthinkable tragedy that we all experienced together, how many other people had been touched either by her personally, by her work, by her designs. It was something that really meant a lot to us and still does.

It’s clear both Elyce and Rachel are hurting, understandably as it’s only be seven months. Elyce and Hoda discuss that pang you get when you reach for the phone to call someone and remember they aren’t there to answer. That part gave me a lump in my chest. Rachel also gave an exclusive interview to People to promote Love, Katy and gave some more thoughts on why it’s important to her.

When you lose someone you love very, very much, you spend a lot of time trying to think about how to keep their spirit alive. There is so much of her left behind and this was an opportunity for us to celebrate her life and her legacy, In the wake of Katy’s passing, my family and I were so overwhelmed and encouraged by the love and support we received from those who were touched by Katy’s work, many of whom were strangers from around the world,” she told us. “When you lose someone you love, you search for boundless ways to keep their memory alive. This felt like a way to do that through her beautiful creations and an opportunity to share them with all of those who her work meant so much to.

[From People]

In the Today segment, Hoda made the same point CB did in the site’s Kate Spade tribute: that so many of us owned her bags, we felt like we knew her. But reflecting on what Rachel told People about trying to keep the person’s spirit alive, I think this new line is perfect. Elyce said the line was “modern classic,” and it was everything people loved about Kate and everything Kate loved to design – bold colors and classic styling. I like the poetry of keeping Kate’s spirit alive by reimagining those products that made us fall in love with her in the first place. The website doesn’t have many of the photos with Rachel, but the next issue of People will. The photos are great, Rachel is wonderful in them.

A few weeks ago, Naomi Campbell and Liam Payne left some comments on each other’s Instagram pages and they were interpreted by some to be flirty. The two are friends. They have friends in common. So if that was it, we probably wouldn’t be talking about it today. We’re talking about it today because …

Instagram has finally figured out how much I love Jason Statham and Beyoncé and blessed me with this clip on the explore page. What took so long? And why isn’t this scene nominated for an Academy Award every year?

We are grateful for you all and thank you for allowing us to share our life with you! We are so honored to become parents again and can’t wait to give Emerson a sibling. “Baby #2 is joining our crew!! We are overjoyed our bundle of love will be joining us in August! We’ve been dreaming of you for a while now, and you are already loved beyond imaginable, sweet baby,” she captioned the photos.

The former Bachelorette contestant revealed in April 2018 that she and Tolbert were hoping to expand their family in the very near future. Roper admitted that she and her hubby were already working on baby no.2. “We have just started to kind of, sort of try. We want to have our kids close in age. So, it was time to start rolling.”

And if it all goes as planned the reality couple will stop at three children unless the pair doesn’t succeed at having a boy. Tanner informed Us that he won’t stop trying until he has a son. “I’m going to keep trying until we have a boy.”

So with a toddler and a baby on the way how does the Bachelor couple get away for some alone time? Luckily Roper has her mom to lean on to come over and watch their daughter so the two can have a date night but the pair prefer a low key date night.

“We always say we’re going to go out to a really nice dinner, just us two. That’s our thought in the morning when we wake up. My mom comes over to babysit, and we’re like, ‘You want to wear sweatpants and go to the movies? We’ve actually changed our plans to that three or four times.’”
