Charlize Theron is one of the cover girls for Elle Magazine’s Women In Hollywood issue. Elle did multiple covers, and I was happy to see that Charlize got one of them for her role as a producer. The first film Charlize ever got a producer credit on was Monster, which earned her an Oscar. She’s produced films like Atomic Blonde, Dark Places and Tully. She’s also gotten into producing for television too. Not enough ink has been devoted to her producing skills. She’s promoting A Private War, which she isn’t even in – she produced the film starring Rosamund Pike, based on the true story of war journalist Marie Colvin. This is Charlize’s goal: to make more films with women, and tell more stories about women. You can see her full cover package here. Some highlights:

On not being surprised by the Harvey Weinstein allegations: “When I look back and think about my experience with him, how I felt about him—we don’t wanna just go by assumption—but there were definite things. It’s made me look at trusting [my] instincts better. This is a moment for all of us to re-educate ourselves. Not just men, but women, too.”

Women’s stories: “You cannot tell the universal, diverse stories of this earth that we live on without women and their participation. You just can’t do it—it’s impossible.”

On enlisting more champions for change: “Support from both sexes is very important right now. I don’t want to undermine the support that we’ve been getting from men in this fight, because we can’t do this alone. The great thing is that we don’t have to. There are guys out there who are just as desperate for change to come. I’m inviting anybody on this boat. You wanna join this fight? You’re so welcome. Come with us.”

On Hollywood’s double standard for box-office flops: “[Women] have to work so much harder to come back from a failure. It’s not so dependent on the star when it’s a male. It’s more, ‘Well, maybe the movie didn’t work.’ With females, it’s like, ‘The movie didn’t work because of her.’ That needs to change. Financiers are more willing to finance a male star. I just wonder what beautiful storytelling we have missed out on because [people] were too scared to take a chance on a woman.”

On raising daughters: “I look at my two beautiful girls, and I have the worries that every other mother has. I want them to be safe and able to live their full potential. Whenever that feels threatened, I go a little psycho. I will kill for them. That’s gonna be used as evidence one day in court!”

[From Elle]

She’s completely right about how box-office flops are discussed and analyzed after the fact – a man stars in a terrible movie which loses money, and he still gets a stack of scripts every week, and he’s given a million more chances to prove that he can carry a film. If a woman stars in a terrible movie which loses money, she’s probably never going to be offered a lead role ever again.

As for Charlize’s reference to “my two beautiful girls”… that was honestly the first thing that caught my eye when I read through these quotes, and I debated how to even cover this subject, since it involves children who never asked for or deserved public speculation. Charlize adopted her two children, August and Jackson. Jackson was adopted first, in 2012, and August was adopted in 2015. They’re both still little kids, under the age of eight. There has been some low-key speculation on various sites and blogs about Jackson, who always seemed to prefer to wear dresses and pink everything. I think Charlize speaking about “my two beautiful girls” is just her way of confirming publicly that Jackson identifies as a girl and that she’s raising Jackson as her daughter. It’s a stealthy way to confirm what had been just a vague rumor, and it doesn’t seem like many people have even picked up on it.

'Cant Stop, Wont Stop: A Bad Boy Story' Screening - Arrivals

I genuinely forget that Sean Combs has been with Cassie for the better part of a decade. In my defense, he rarely acts like a man in a long-term relationship. And in my defense, Cassie and Diddy have had a lot of breakup-and-makeup cycles in the past, right? Well, here’s more of the same: Cassie and Sean Combs are over. He’s already with someone else. The “someone else” is only 26 years old. Sources insist that Sean will probably go back to Cassie after this jumpoff thing fizzles out.

Moving on. Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie have called it quits after dating on and off for 11 years, according to LoveBScott.com Opens a New Window.

“They are indeed no longer together and haven’t been for months,” Cassie’s rep said in a statement to the website on Wednesday, October 17. The news came shortly after LoveBScott reported that Diddy, 48, has been seeing model Jocelyn Chew. They were reportedly spotted together in Miami in late September and more recently attended Drake and Migos’ concert at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Friday, October 12. The rapper and Chew, 26, follow each other on Instagram, and Cassie, 32, recently unfollowed him.

A source tells Us Weekly that Diddy is still “very much in love with Cassie, and this fling with Jocelyn will likely fizzle out.”

[From Us Weekly]

I saw some concern online for Cassie because… very little is “in her name.” She and Puffy weren’t married, and considering all the breakups, what they had probably wouldn’t be considered common-law marriage either. The mansions, the cars, the bank accounts, they’re all in Sean Combs’ name. Cassie and Diddy don’t have kids together either, although he has five biological kids (and one stepson) with three exes. He’s talked about having kids with Cassie as recently as this year. Oh well – maybe it’s better this way. A clean break, and hopefully she has some kind of nest egg, and hopefully she won’t take him back.

The Duke & Duchess Of Sussex continue their Royal Tour Of Australia

The Duke and Duchess spent Thursday, Day 3 of their Royal Tour, in Melbourne, Australia. They did normal royal-tour things, like walk on the beach (Meg wore flats) and meet with a local chef, do a walk-about with a rope line (Meg got a tiara from a little girl!), rode a tram and about a million other things. I’m sure their activities today counted as at least a dozen different engagements.

For the day’s activities, Meghan wore two dark dresses and the same trench coat she wore for Day 1. The trench coat has finally been ID’d as Martin Grant, and that trench is getting more attention than anything else she’s worn. For the most part, she is taking it off when they go inside, although I would love to see her take the jacket off a few times during outdoor activities too. Then again, I have no idea what temperature it is in Australia right now – maybe she’s genuinely chilly. Beyond the trench, Meghan wore a navy dress by Aussie designer Dion Lee, and then she wore a black Club Monaco dress. I’ve really gotten a sense of Meghan’s favorite silhouettes for dresses, and this Dion Lee dress is Peak Meg, from the wide lapels to the asymmetrical hemline. Also: those buttons on the Club Monaco dress… huh.

Corey covered Lady Gaga’s speech at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards. Shonda Rhimes was also honored with the Luminary Award that was presented by Ellen Pompeo. As we know, Ellen made headlines earlier this year by securing an equitable deal to continue Grey’s Anatomy. But Ellen’s not the only one making headlines about their TV paycheck. Shonda used her speech to tell the room that she is, “the highest paid showrunner in television.” And if that sounds like bragging to you, you’re right. Because that was exactly Shonda’s intent, to remind women that men brag all the time about their accomplishments while women are taught to sit back and let men take the spotlight. But Shonda wants to put an end to that thinking and she’s starting with herself.

In a world in which women of all colors are constantly forced to battle with men for equity and inclusion, we [Rhimes and Ellen Pompeo, who presented her with her award] had the good fortune to work in an environment that we had nurtured and built with enough of our sweat and tears over enough years that we no longer needed to battle men to get to the top of a mountain. We just built our own mountains and then we realized all we simply had to do was equalize and include one another.

I tell you this for two reasons. One, I’m awesome. And I work with a ton of other equally awesome women. And women do not brag enough. The other day I came to this conclusion that men brag and women hide. Even when they don’t deserve to brag, men brag, like Trump and Kavanaugh. When men do deserve to brag they are good at it. They do it so well. Men brag about everything. Even things that aren’t things.

A little while ago in an inspiring article, Ellen [Pompeo] told the world she was the highest paid woman in dramatic television. She did not hide. She bragged. She said she was powerful and she said she deserved it. And there was some blowback. And there should not have been. I have seen a thousand articles like that from men, but she’s a woman and she shouldn’t say things like that. She should hide. I was really mad on her behalf but then what did I go and do.

Ryan Murphy, bless your amazingly talented heart. When Ryan, who is here, made his amazing deal with Netflix what did he do? He shouted his salary to the world and he did this gorgeous cover shoot for the Hollywood Reporter. He deserved every minute of it and I applauded him. When I made a deal with Netflix, I let them report my salary wrong in the press and I did as few interviews as possible. Then I put my head down and worked. In other words, I hid. I’m getting this award for inspiring other women and how can I inspire anyone if I’m hiding?

So, let me take a deep breath. And on behalf of women everywhere in the name of not leaving my sister hanging, I will brag. I got to say this is harder than I thought. I am the highest paid showrunner in television.

[From Elle]

You can read Shonda’s full speech here. I love everything Shonda said. It also made me think about who does the bragging in my house. My husband brags about himself and I don’t. Part of that is how we were raised – none of my family members brag about themselves and all of his do. (I do brag about my kids, my husband, my pets, etc. so I’m still a drag at parties.) But the truth is, I would sit back, just as Shonda did, and let someone report my accomplishments incorrectly rather than actually stand up and support what I’ve done. That’s sad. I can’t do that anymore.

Shonda echoes the sentiments that other actresses have said about being deemed ‘difficult’ when they’re just standing up for themselves. Which led Shonda to her next point: that we empower others by doing speaking up. Every woman that says, ‘hey, I’m awesome and look at this goal I just met,’ just resets the bar as to how high women can dream. Shonda said she told the story about being the highest paid because “the struggle we are in the midst of that feels so hard is hard but it is not impossible.” And I get that, because a woman being the highest paid showrunner on TV did seem impossible a while ago. I’m reimagining what’s possible, not just for me but for my daughter. Shonda ended by reminding everyone that the struggle becomes possible through a strong community. “Widen your circle to hold more people. Lose your judgments of who someone is based on what you’ve heard or what you assumed.”

The 28th Annual Environmental Media Awards

Earlier this week, I pondered the question in a post about Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum of how long one should wait after to date after a split. The pair, who parted ways six months ago, seem to have moved on successfully. First, Channing was spotted with singer Jessie J, and now Jenna may have found her next serious relationship.

An inside source told Us Magazine that the actress is “seeing someone new” and added that the new man is not “well known.” I can imagine it must be refreshing to date someone with whom you don’t have to “talk shop” all of the time. I, for one, have never dated another writer, and I think I’m better for it. As long as Jenna’s happy, that’s all that matters.

As for Channing, People reports that he and Jessie J are still seeing each other, but a source said that “They want to keep it low-key.” Somehow I think it’s going to be easier for Jenna to keep things low-key with her new guy. The insider went on to say that both Channing and Jessie J are both busy, he with work and taking care of his four-year-old daughter, Everly, and she with her career. Despite their outside commitments, “It is an exciting time for both of them.”

Knowing Channing and his dancing past, it’s not really surprising that he fell for a musician, as People’s source noted, “He loves music, likes to dance and loves the whole performing aspect of his own career.”

And as for the future, which I can’t believe I’m even writing about since these two have only been dating for a few weeks, a film source pointed out, “It’s a new thing for them and too early to see if it will go anywhere. But for now they are having fun and getting to know each other.”

So far, this split has been quite the amicable one and it looks like both parties are happy, so, even though divorce stinks, it’s good that both Channing and Jenna emerged relatively unscathed. Other celebrity couples should take note.

Gwyneth Paltrow covers the latest issue of Marie Claire UK, and while the photos are kind of terrible (lol), the profile is actually a great read. The MC journalist goes to Gwyneth’s Hamptons home for the interview, and there are tons of details about how Gwyneth and her many staffers interact with the peasant “reporter.” There are also details about Goop’s Hamptons home, like this: there was an “airy, immaculate lounge filled with low, pale furniture, a grand piano and vast, muted works of modern art. There’s no twee beach chic here.” It might be a Hamptons home, but Gwyn would never be so gauche as to decorate with – GULP – rattan, wicker or anything beach-friendly. The MC interviewer also made this hilarious note: “Nicholas, another staff member, fetches me a giant goblet of iced water.” The whole thing is a treat. You can read it here. Some highlights:

Goop is not all snake oil and cultural appropriation: “People love to talk about our “incendiary” wellness content, but we’re a lifestyle brand, so we have gorgeous homeware and fashion. You’re not going into the store to have an exorcism or enema.”

She speaks in absolute gibberish: Her conversation is peppered with ‘modalities’ and ‘verticals’, bumping up against the earnest discourse of the self-help industry; she’s the only non-therapist I have ever heard employ the phrase ‘family of origin’, and she refers to herself as ‘an integrity’.

She’s reading a stack of leadership books. “That’s all I read. The psychology of this, the culture of influence that, and all these f–king business books. If you saw my nightstand, you’d be like, where is the nerd?’ Two years ago, she stepped up to become CEO, and has, she says, ‘a very regular working mum routine’, when the family is home in LA. ‘I get my kids up, take them to school, exercise, then go to the office. I stay there all day.’

The horrendous New York Times profile a few months ago: She admits today that she didn’t read the piece word for word, but skimmed it – ‘I don’t like to read about myself – it’s none of my business what people think of me. Ultimately, it shows the strength of the business. There are Fortune 500 companies that aren’t in the NYT, ever. So, it means that we’re on the right track, we’re doing something important, we’re iconoclasts and trailblazers. You can love it or hate it, but we’re building something that’s changing the world, and it’s irrefutable that the world is coming along with us.’

How her dad told her, when she was 27, that she was becoming an a–hole: “I was just believing my own hype, thinking that I was super-awesome. And he was like, “You’re getting weird – you’re acting like a dick”… When you achieve the kind of fame that I did by the time I was 25 or 26, the world starts removing all your obstacles because you’re now a “special person.” You don’t have to wait in line at a restaurant, and if a car doesn’t show up, someone else gives you theirs. There is nothing worse for the growth of a human being than not having obstacles and disappointments, and things go wrong. All of my greatest achievements have come out of failure.’

Why she wanted to get remarried: ‘I think that marriage is a really beautiful, noble and worthwhile institution, pursuit and endeavour. Because ?I don’t think you get married and that’s it – I think it’s the beginning. You create this third entity, this third being that you have to nourish and look after. For a while, I thought, I don’t know if I’d ever do it again. I have my kids – what’s the point? And then I met this incredible man, who made me think, no, this person is worth making this commitment to. I’m very much the marrying kind. I love being ?a wife. I love making a home.’

What she misses about acting: ‘Nothing. It’s so weird. It was such a part of my identity for so long… I went out to LA for a couple of days, and I actually didn’t hate it. But I just don’t miss it. The level and breadth of creativity that I have in this job is so bananas, and I’m very fulfilled.’

[From Marie Claire UK]

She talks about going out to LA “for a couple of days,” like it happens so rarely, but earlier in the interview she talks about her home being LA. Which is it, Goop? I thought Moses and Apple go to school in LA, so wouldn’t she spend most of the year in LA? Wasn’t that the point of Chris Martin buying a home close to hers in LA too? And doesn’t Brad Falchuk live and work full-time in LA? That being said, I can understand why she wants to more closely associate herself with the Hamptons, because that’s more her core audience than LA. As for the rest of it…SHE REFERS TO HERSELF AS AN INTEGRITY. And she didn’t even bother reading that scathing NYT article.

John Krasinski was guest on Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he talked about his incredibly popular and critically-acclaimed horror film A Quiet Place. Not only did his first feature film as a director make the list of the Top 10 movies of 2018 (so far), it earned a sequel order, which is currently slated for release in May of 2020. John said that although it may seem “psychotic,” the movie was made as “a love letter to my kids.” That’s quite an intense love letter, if you ask me.

The 38-year-old actor/director was outed by Jimmy for an uncredited role in his hit film. Yes, not only did he co-write the screenplay, direct the film and star, he also played one of the movie’s scary, noise-attracted creatures. When Jimmy brought up this trivial tidbit, asking if anyone knew about John’s dual role, the actor replied, “Nobody knows it because I’ve kept it quiet.” Jimmy, who loves to good-naturedly take a jab at his longtime friend and former neighbor (more on that in a bit) was more than happy to show a photo of John in a motion capture suit, in the middle of a skyward scream. John said “that’s embarrassing” and explained that the “amazing” technicians at Industrial Light and Magic asked him how he thought the creature should move. John recalled, “I said, ‘Well, this is how I think he’s gonna crawl,’ ”And they said, ‘Well, why don’t you throw on the suit?’ And I was like, ‘Totally!’” Of Jimmy’s “embarrassing” photo, John joked that, “I thought I was auditioning for Lion King.”

John went on to (once again) compliment his wife and Quiet Place co-star, Emily Blunt, telling Jimmy that “I’ve been next to her when she’s made all these amazing decisions and she’s without a doubt the classiest, smartest, most dedicated actress I’ve ever known.” Aww.

Although the Quiet Place chat was great, the best part of the Kimmel interview was when the two former neighbors relived their ongoing prank war. John started the war with a soft volley, sneaking into Jimmy’s home to place two inflatable Christmas decorations and things escalated quickly from there. Entire homes – and Jimmy’s office – were converted into holiday wonderlands, cars were wrapped, stuffed with ornaments and even crashed and reindeers (and reindeer poop) even came into play. John getting “Nogg’d” on the show in 2015 seems to be where things left off…until now.

Since Jimmy is taping his show in Brooklyn this week, he rented an Airbnb. John pointed out that the two were once again neighbors, if only temporarily, and asked Jimmy where he was staying, and, before Jimmy could answer, John said, “Doesn’t matter, I already know.” Then we see Jimmy’s rental with a lighted sign outside of it saying, “Come in and say Hi” as well as a sign spinner, a choir and a banner that unfurled to say “Welcome Jimmy Kimmel Who Is Renting This House.” Wow. Jim Halpert would be quite impressed.

John added, “What you can’t see, there are 150 people lined up to take this tour of his house. As soon as the choir’s done, they’re all gonna go in. So I would just say, guys, if you’re in Brooklyn, which you already are, get your kids to trick-or-treat early. It’s Park Slope, Brooklyn. You’ll see it. You’ll know it.” Jimmy, unfortunately, doesn’t have any sort of immediate retaliation planned, stating that, “I wish I was more prepared. I do know where you live, but I didn’t do anything to it. It’s not even Christmas time!” I can’t wait to see what happens at the Krasinski home this holiday season. Jimmy has months to prepare.

Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra of Teen Mom OG just shared the sex of their new baby. It turns out that the couple is expecting another girl! They are really excited about this news, but honestly, they were expecting to hear that it was a boy. They have already had two little girls.

Catelynn shared with Us Weekly all about her shock to find out it was another girl.

“I was so shocked that it was a girl because I for sure thought it was a boy! Tyler knew the sex before I did. When we did our gender reveal, I was so shocked I almost cried because I wanted a boy so badly. I’m super excited it’s a girl now. Since our miscarriage, I just am thankful to get another chance, and as long as it’s healthy, that’s all that matters!”

The couple has already talked about trying for another baby in the future. This might mean they would end up getting a boy. Catelynn and Tyler seem like they are doing really well right now. They love being parents.

Excited to have Nova announce our SHOCKING GENDER REVEAL #LinkInBio

A post shared by Catelynn Baltierra (@catelynnmtv) on Oct 17, 2018 at 3:00pm PDT

Catelynn Lowell went on to explain that they do really want to have a boy at some point. Tyler may end up in a house full of girls and that will be just fine, too. This is the third daughter for this couple. They have 3-year-old daughter Nova and they placed their eldest daughter, Carly, now 9, up for adoption.

Catelyn suffered from a miscarriage between Nova and the new little girl that is on the way. This was really hard on her. They are calling their new little girl their “rainbow baby.” This is a term used for a baby that is born after a miscarriage. They actually were not planning this pregnancy, but it just happened. The couple is excited about the new baby, though.

Tyler really feels like this is a “blessing.” He says that every child is and he is really happy about this new child. It won’t be long before they have another little girl at home. The couple from Teen Mom OG hasn’t shared just yet what they will name their daughter. They will probably wait to reveal this until the little girl arrives.

Are you excited to see Catelynn Lowell’s new little girl? Let us know in the comments below, and don’t miss new episodes of Teen Mom OG on MTV. Hopefully, everything will be filmed when she has their new daughter.
