rihanna vogue british

Remember when Rihanna invented the skinny brow?!? My God, I’m still not over Rihanna’s magnificent British Vogue cover for the September issue. She’s amazing and this just proves, yet again, that Rihanna can pull off any look. Anyway, some quotes were released for Rihanna’s cover interview, and they’re worth discussing. Rihanna keeps killing it when she talks about body image, have you noticed that? Her weight has been fluctuating for the past year and a half, but she’s not worried about it. She owns her thiccness. Some highlights:

Why she thinks women love her: “Ok, you’re asking the wrong person. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’m ‘thicc’ now. I don’t know.”

She’s actually ready to get back in the gym: “I’m about to get back into the gym and stuff, and I hope I don’t lose my butt or my hips or all of my thighs. I’ll lose some but not all. And I think of my boobs, like, ‘Imma lose everything, everything goes!’ But, you know, it comes with a price. You want to have a butt, then you have a gut.”

Why she’s going back to the gym: “I just need to get healthy and stay healthy because I’m 30 now, you know, I can’t play them games no more. Can’t play the mac’n’cheese-in-the-middle-of-the-night games.”

People always ask her for advice: “I get a lot of boy-advice questions. I think a lot of people meet people and then they’re dating the idea of what the person could become, and that person never shows up and then they’re just mad disappointed. A person can always get better, they can always get worse, but you’ve got to be fine with what you met them as.”

Loyalty is important: “I’m very picky about friends. I don’t like to open myself up to everyone and so when you find people who are great and loyal, you don’t want to let go of that. I’ve been out here on my own since I was a teenager, so these people become like your family.”

Do you think Rihanna is more popular now because she’s thicc? I think that’s PART of it, but not the whole picture. Yes, we like it when a huge celebrity is truly “just like us” and gains a little weight and doesn’t seem to care about it. But to be clear, Rihanna was already wildly popular with women before she got thicc. And I remember her butt before the thiccness… it was a butt of dreams. Even if she loses weight, she’s still going to have a great butt (but yeah, the boobs will probably go).

I dug the teaser for I Think We’re Alone Now, Reed Morano’s film starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning. We now have a full trailer, and I still dig it. In fact, the trailer plays so well as its own thing it almost works as a short film. Do I need to see a feature length version of this? I mean, y…

Kaiser covered Jennifer Aniston’s lengthy interview in the September issue of InStyle and how the 49-year-old actress has taken up boxing to stay in tip-top shape. She admitted “It’s the longest workout I’ve actually stayed with consistently other than yoga. There’s something about the mental aspect of boxing — the drills, your brain has to work, you’re not just sitting on a bike. It’s amazing.” Jennifer is currently in Italy working on a film with Adam Sandler. (WHY, JEN, WHY?)

At home Jennifer trains with Leyon Azubuike, an “ex-sparring partner to a world heavyweight champ” and the co-owner of LA’s Gloveworks fitness facility. After the story was published, and Leyon discovered his client believed he “hung the moon,” he posted a photo to Instagram, holding the magazine. In his caption, he calls Jennifer “one of the most AMAZING human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure to have in my life” and “the hardest working, beautiful, vigorous, most extraordinary person.” Wow. If you interviewed my former personal trainer, he’d say “Well, she’s not a complete wuss. She only cries in the last 10 minutes of our sessions.”

Leyon, who also trains Jennifer Love Hewitt, says that working with the former Friends star has been a “great experience.” He went on to praise her, noting:

“She’s very diligent. She is ready to work out hard, every single time she hits the gym. Whether it be a 45-minute session, whether it be a 2-hour session, she’s always ready to go. Incredibly consistent and hardworking, and that makes my job a little bit easier. She’s a very good, natural athlete.”

Throughout the course of my career, I’ve had the pleasure to wake up every day and do something I love with people I care about, people who share that same passion, energy, and infectious positivity for the task at hand, and to see those same characteristics transcend just the physical part of the exercise. This right here, this is very very special to me, being that it comes from one of the most AMAZING human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure to have in my life ?. So to the hardest working, beautiful, vigorous, most extraordinary person- way to absolutely CRUSH this??. Pick up your @instylemagazine September fashion issue on the stands now! I’m proud of you Jen, and forever proud to be your coach ?? . . . #JenniferAniston #Gloveworx #Fitness @underarmour @gloveworx @goodmorningamerica

Since most of us probably couldn’t afford working with Leyon, he shared that his workouts are based in strength conditioning, utilizing resistance bands and light weights paired with work in the ring using glove. Sounds Google-able. I’m no natural athlete, but this sounds like a workout I could probably get behind, especially because of the “mental release” that boxing provides. And, if I could look just a tiny bit like Jennifer as a result, I’m in.

Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born will screen at the Venice Film Festival tomorrow before it heads to TIFF next weekend. Since footage of ASIB was shown at CinemaCon in March, the hype has been steadily building. That was basically the very, very beginning of the Oscar campaign. For months now, before…

Here are more photos from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip to see Hamilton as part of a gala charity performance benefiting Harry’s Lesotho charity Sentebale. I still feel the same way about her tuxedo dress, by the way, even though the some peeps have been crying “double standards!” It’s almost like – hear me out – there’s a rabid fanbase devoted to minimizing and criticizing every single thing involving Meghan because they think that will make Kate look better? Weird, right?

Meanwhile, I was totally wrong about one thing: I thought it was Fake News a few weeks ago when there were reports of Meghan making a quiet trip to Canada. Turns out, she really was in Toronto for a few days.

The Duchess of Sussex managed to fly under the radar last week, enjoying a private trip to her former home city of Toronto, Canada. Sources have confirmed to Good Morning America that the Duchess quietly travelled to the city, where she was based while working on Suits, and stayed in the family home of her close friends Jessica and Ben Mulroney.

Meghan and her former stylist Jessica spent their days catching up, lounging by the pool and playing with Jessica’s three children – twin sons Brian and John, eight, and daughter Ivy, five. The source added that the kids “love seeing their Auntie Meg”. The Duchess and Jessica also enjoyed an evening out with close pals.

[From Hello]

The Mulroneys have proven time and time again that they keep information about Meghan locked down. In fact, I think that the rare times there is an unnamed source speaking positively about Meghan, it’s probably some kind of authorized leak from Meghan to the Jessica Mulroney. I think it’s sweet that she had a few days to decompress with her friends in Toronto, and I like that her friends kept the info locked down while she was there.

Mom Guilt is one of the hard facts that come with the title of mother. With balancing work, children and family mom guilt can sneak up on you and take you down. But these celebrity mamas have some words of advice on how they keep their mom guilt at a simmer.

Jessica Alba: Squeeze Some “Me Time” In

The mama of three has a lot to juggle besides raising her three kiddos. She’s a lady boss busy running her Honest Company empire along with acting but Jessica Alba, 37, still makes it a priority to find some alone time for herself and says it’s a must. “It’s worth it to recharge once a week,” she told Parents Latina, “Get sleep, have a date night or a girls’ night in, and drink some wine!”

Giuliana Rancic: No Phones At Home

No, this isn’t a photo shoot for a hat company (although these straw hats are the cutest!) It’s just a pic of a family that loves boating, fun in the sun, and yes, wearing cute hats ? (update for those asking: hats by @hemlockhatco)

A post shared by Giuliana Rancic (@giulianarancic) on Aug 8, 2018 at 4:06pm PDT

The journalist, 44, has one hard rule that she has followed since becoming a mother to her son Duke, she leaves work at the door as soon as she arrives at home and that means no phones. “What I do now is that when I’m at work, I’m 100 percent focused on work. I return all my emails. I don’t just sit there and surf the Internet like before,” she told Fashion magazine. “And when I’m home, I would focus 100 percent on Duke and put the phone away … that way I would feel a little more of a balance.”

Hoda Kotb: It’s Ok To Still Love Your Career

For Hoda Kotb, 54, she is living her dream as co-host of Today. The news anchor wants women everywhere to realize that it’s possible to still have the job of your dreams and be a loving present mama. “I go to work and I sort of feel like I miss Haley, but I don’t ache,” Kotb told PEOPLE, “I remember my mom going to work and saying, ‘I love you and I’m going to work, and when I come home I’m going to love you here.’ [My parents] missed things, but it didn’t scar me — I knew they loved me,” she added. “I also knew they loved what they did. We are all workers in a way — we love what we do.”

Debra Messing: Lean On Your Girlfriends

This one.

A post shared by Debra Messing (@therealdebramessing) on Aug 22, 2018 at 10:30pm PDT

The Will and Grace actress, 50, reaches out to her girl gang when she needs a little extra help juggling work and her son Roman. “Make sure you have people around you that can give you support and help, whether it’s best friends, family members, or a babysitter, the actress told POPSUGAR, “It’s incredibly hard even when you don’t have a job. So, when you have a full-time job on top of that, you just have to be [super] organized, and that was a hard lesson for me to learn.”

While writing my last post on Miranda Lambert, I knew the drama would continue, but I didn’t quite expect the latest narrative: Miranda as a love disciplinarian.

In a new story at PEOPLE (remember, her ex Blake Shelton is the reigning Sexiest Man Alive, lol), a source said that Miranda and Evan F…

Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood features three different covers: Amandla Stenberg, Shawn Mendes and Pete Davidson. So far Pete’s interview is getting the most coverage because people are interested in his whirlwind high-profile relationship with Ariana Grande. He knows this, and he talks about it in this piece. Pete is good at being quotable and he opens up a lot in this interview. He’s discusses his struggles with mental health, which is something he’s been open about for years, and shares details of a suicide attempt at a young age and how he treats his bipolar disorder now. He even talks about the BDE meme and how flattered he is by it. Of course he is. Pete repeats the story that he’s already told, that he proposed to Ariana Grande when they were in bed. He expects her to kick him to the curb at any time, which is something he’s said before too.

On proposing to Ariana and expecting her to come to her senses
“I didn’t want to do something corny. We were in bed hanging, after watching a movie. I was like, ‘Will you marry me?’ It was really dope. I’m still convinced she’s blind or hit her head really hard,” he says, laughing. “Something is going to happen, and she’s going to be like, ‘What the f— is this thing doing around?’ For right now, it’s rocking.”

On his mental health
“The last few years have been real rough with me. I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good.”

On attempting suicide when he was young
“I’ve been in and out of mental health facilities since I was 9. I tried to drown myself in the pool when I was in the fourth or fifth grade. I was trying to get my head stuck in the ladder in the deep end, so I would not be able to get up. But I’m too much of a p-sy, and my head is too small.”

On Trump hosting SNL in late 2015; Davidson’s sketches were cut
“It wasn’t the most fun week eve. He doesn’t get jokes. He doesn’t get tone. He doesn’t get punch lines. He’ll say words differently. He’s just a dweeb.

vDude, any president that is taking pictures of himself on a private plane eating Kentucky Fried Chicken is a f—ing psycho. What are you? A f—ing Kardashian?”

On his dad’s death influencing him to becoming a comic
“If my dad didn’t die, I wouldn’t be a comic. I’d be a construction worker in Staten Island or a basketball coach.

“I learned what death was. And you’re not really supposed to learn about that until high school, when one of your friends falls asleep in the garage, or whatever. To learn how anything can just be taken away from you early gave me this sense of ‘F— it. Whatever, dude.’ I’m able to do stand-up and f— around because hopefully the worst thing that has ever happened to me happened.”

He compares going online to getting a skin infection
“It’s like popping a pimple. You’re like, ‘This is going to be sick.’ Then you do it, and you have to go to the dermatologist and get a cortisone shot, and there’s going to be a big hole in my face for a week.”

On the BDE meme
“I don’t hate it. I’m just really, really happy, and if that means I have [BDE], then sick. My favorite thing was my mom was like, ‘Peter, they’re saying you had a big p-nis just like your father.’”

On being in love with Ariana
“I never thought I’d meet anyone like her. I can’t even put into words how great of a person she is. I could cry. She’s the f—ing coolest, hottest, nicest person I’ve ever met.”

“I’m f—ing living the goddamn dream. I feel like I’m living in a fantasyland.”

[From Variety]

The piece noted that Pete is smoking pot again after going to rehab twice for it. I think pot should be available medicinally nationwide and considering that Pete has Crohn’s disease I’m inclined to give him a pass. (Here’s more on the research about cannibis as a treatment for Crohn’s. Pete does tell the Variety journalist that he began smoking for relief.) As for his thoughts on Ariana, this is what we’ve heard from him since they got together and got engaged almost immediately. They’re both crazy about each other, which is cute to watch but what happens when the infatuation phase wears off and they’re faced with reality? I would bet it lasts for Pete longer than it does for his girlfriends typically. Maybe that’s why he keeps expecting Ariana to kick him out.

Well that didn’t take long. Just two days ago it was announced that Alec Baldwin would play a Trumpy version of Bat-dad Thomas Wayne in the Joker-mark-Joaquin movie. Literally the next day, though, Baldwin said he was “no longer doing that movie”. He cited the ubiquitous “scheduling issues” and went…

I didn’t see this yesterday, but it’s sort of amazing: apparently, Donald Trump wasn’t the only one shunned by John McCain in his final days, weeks and months. The McCain family has let it be known that Sarah Palin is unwelcome at Senator McCain’s funeral too. You guys, I think we should give John McCain some credit: even in death, he was such a magnificently grudge-holding bitch. If anything, I like him more him now. McCain famously chose Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 without even doing cursory background research on her. Palin helped his campaign at first, but her ignorance, lies and dog-whistle racism ended up destroying the campaign in the final weeks. Palin ended up being the Ghost of GOP Future, and apparently McCain held a grudge about all of it.

President Donald Trump and former John McCain presidential running mate Sarah Palin are not invited to memorial services for the iconic Arizona senator, multiple sources tell PEOPLE.

“Two names you won’t see on the guest list: Trump and Palin,” says a Capitol Hill source with knowledge of funeral plans for McCain, who died of brain cancer Saturday at age 81.

“Invitations were not extended” to the two political figures, confirms Carla Eudy, a fundraiser who has worked with and been friends with the McCain family for decades. A source with knowledge of the funeral arrangements adds that several longtime McCain staffers were also removed from the invite list in recent days by Eudy. The fundraiser, who helped plan the memorial services, did not specifically address where the requests originated, nor how they were conveyed. Speculation in Washington, D.C., is that they came from “the family.”

“My guess is, it came from Cindy,” says a source close to the McCain family. “She is very protective of John’s memory and legacy. She’s also a grieving widow. I think she wants to get through this as best she can.”

Speculation also has focused on the process of disinviting someone to a funeral.

“Donald Trump and Sarah Palin were not served official notice outright,” says the source close to the McCain family. “I want to make that clear. It wasn’t a no-trespass order. They won’t be turned away by guards if they show up at the funeral.” The stay-away messages were sent through intermediaries, the friend tells PEOPLE. The messages were received, sources say.

[From People]

A source goes on to claim that McCain and Palin always had a nice “friendship,” and I do think McCain genuinely felt bad about choosing Palin because she was initially so traumatized by the heat of the spotlight. But I think Palin was likely not invited simply because no one in the McCain family wanted the spectacle that Palin brings. Her whole shtick these days is conspiracy theories and ignorance, like she’s Alex Jones with a bad wig. John McCain wanted his funeral and memorial service to have some dignity. I can’t say I blame him.
