Last month, the proud mama shared birthday greetings for her growing girl.

“This magical girl is 1 today. What a gift she is,” she captioned the image of the birthday girl.

In December, the mom-of-two rocked the red carpet with 10-year-old daughter Maggie.

Melanie Griffith, 59, has a somewhat dishy interview in Porter, Net-a-Porter’s magazine, which is currently covered by Bella Hadid. This makes me a little sad for Melanie because I do think she rates a cover over Bella, but I get it, Bella is up-and-coming, etc. People published some quotes from the piece and Melanie gets candid about her alcohol abuse, about her relationship with Antonio Banderas, and about the work she had done on her face. She doesn’t go into specifics about that, but she does say the public’s reaction to whatever she had done, which sounds like injectable fillers, hurt her so much she went to another doctor to have it “dissolved.” All of that sounds painful frankly. Here are some quotes, via People:

On her first stint in rehab, in 1998
“I was a totally functioning mom. I wasn’t like a drunk-on-the-floor, out-of-it person. I didn’t do some things I probably should have done but, mostly, I was there for my kids. They had a sort of privileged gypsy life.”

On reconciling with Don Johnson when she got out of rehab in 1998
“Don was actually waiting for me when I got out of rehab. We got back together; it was the most natural, perfect, loving thing. Then it just sort of wasn’t working. I think it’s hard when you are both in the public eye, unless one of you gives up work.”

On the end of her marriage to Antonio
“I think part of the reason my marriage to Antonio fell apart was because I was stuck; nobody else is to blame. It’s just that I personally got stuck and I won’t let that happen again, I want to enjoy life, I want to do whatever I want to do,” she says.

On if she dates now
“I’m shy with men now, very reticent … nobody has asked me on a date [for almost two years].”

On negative reactions to her plastic surgery
“No, I didn’t [realize] until people started saying. ‘Oh my god, what has she done?!’ I was so hurt I went to a different doctor and he started dissolving all of this s— that this other woman doctor had put in. Hopefully, I look more normal now.”

[From Porter via People]

Melanie was married to Don Johnson twice; for just a year in 1976 and then again from 1989 to 1996. She married actor Steven Bauer in between reconciling with Don, from 1981 to 1989, and was with Antonio from 1996 to 2014. She has one child from each relationship. Her time in rehab in 1998 wasn’t her last. She went again in 2008 to treat an addiction to painkillers following a knee injury. So she has an addictive personality, but she’s saying she wasn’t that bad when she quit the first time. I quit drinking nine months ago and have been told to identify with people with addictions, not to compare myself so that I don’t minimize it and start drinking again. I’m saying you can be functioning on a superficial level as she mentions and still be an alcoholic who is hurting yourself and your family. I’m not trying to speak to her experience, just mine.

As for her plastic surgery, I feel so bad for her. She got crap for aging and then she got crap for trying to do something about it. I would guess she had a face lift and then too many fillers (particularly in her lips, that was obvious) which she had fixed. It’s got to be hard to grow older in Hollywood.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attend Service at Westminster Abbey

Here are some photos of Prince Harry, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge today in London. They attended the Service of Hope at Westminster Abbey, a service in honor of the victims of the Parliament terrorist attack on March 22. The service is multi-faith, with a Catholic Cardinal, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Chief Rabbi and two senior Imams all joining together to help London heal in prayer. I like when an effort is made to be truly multi-faith, and it’s especially necessary in increasingly pluralistic Western democracies. That being said, I feel like William and Kate were probably forced into doing this, especially considering neither of them could be bothered to attend the Commonwealth Day church service, which was just a few days before the terrorist attack.

For today’s service, Kate repeated a Missoni coat. I remembered this, probably because she just wore it last year. And I remembered it because I didn’t hate it. She wore this in France last year for a commemoration ceremony in remembrance of World War I. Kate attended that event with William and Harry too. It’s a good coat because the shades of grey give her “somber vibes,” and she probably didn’t want to wear all-black like it was a funeral. I’m fine with this. I also appreciate that her hair is back and that her hat/fascinator isn’t too large.

William was in charge of laying a wreath, and apparently he, Harry and Kate will meet with some of the victims of the terrorist attack after the service.

Katie Holmes & Suri: “Salon Days”

Author: Admin | Filed under: Celebrities
katie-holmes-suri-salon.jpg

Dawson’s Creek alum Katie Holmes posted a photo with daughter Suri, nearly 11, via Instagram Tuesday.

“#salondays @djquintero @sergenormant,” the single mom, 38, captioned the mirror selfie with her growing girl and top New York stylist DJ Quintero.

During their outing at the salon, Suri played with a bow in her hair and rocked a pretty patterned dress.

Last month, The Kennedys: After Camelot actress shared a snapshot with her only child.

The actress, who shares her daughter with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, recently opened up about how she’s raising Suri to be strong.

“We have to raise our girls to be very strong not just for themselves, but to open the doors for other people because as hard as we think we have it, there’s so many women in the world that have it so much harder,” Holmes said. “We need to really be strong and help them and help each other.”

Premiere of HBO's 'The Leftovers' Season 3 - Arrivals

People are always complaining about how Jennifer Aniston never really changes up her style, so these photos are evidence that… maybe she does change it up SLIGHTLY sometimes. Granted, she’s still wearing a little black dress, and her hair is down and she still loves strappy heels. But I do feel like she’s changed it up a bit. These are photos from last night’s Hollywood premiere event for the The Leftovers Season 3, the final season of the HBO show. Everyone involved with the show is ready to move on, and if you’re a fan of the show… my only hope for you is that I hope you feel satisfied with the conclusion of the series, because writer Damon Lindelof is notorious for sh-tting the bed.

Anyway, Justin Theroux is probably looking forward to the end of the series too – it’s prestige television, obviously, but I’m not sure that The Leftovers was really the career stepping-stone he thought it would be. But his wife came out to support him and all is well. Jennifer’s dress here in Brandon Maxwell and… I’ll say it, doesn’t it seem like something that Angelina Jolie would wear? It’s black leather!! Ha. No, Jolie doesn’t OWN “black leather dresses,” but I’m still a little bit surprised to see Jennifer attempting a darker look like this. Am I crazy or is Jennifer’s hair a few shades darker too? Is it just the lighting or is she less sunny-blonde? And her makeup is crazy-dark too. It almost looks like her cheeks are bruised, she’s wearing such heavy rouge.

PS… I love the pockets on this Maxwell dress.

Several weeks ago, Saturday Night Live did an excellent skit about Ivanka Trump. SNL’s writers hit all of the sweet spots: Ivanka’s superficiality, her willingness and eagerness to profit from government service, her ability to put a glossy face on her father’s fascism, her lack of morals and her lack of ethics. The skit was a commercial for a fake Ivanka-branded perfume, “Complicit.” Here’s the skit:

It was brilliant on a lot of levels, and the “complicit” label has really stuck to Ivanka. So much so that the word “complicit” came up in Gayle King’s exclusive interview with Ivanka this week on CBS News. This was supposed to be a soft-focus interview about Ivanka’s big new role in the administration, where she will be “special assistant to the president.” When asked about whether she’s complicit in her father’s unhinged, dangerous and crazy policies, Ivanka showed that she doesn’t actually know what the word “complicit” means.

“If being complicit is wanting to be a force for good and to make a positive impact, then I’m complicit. I don’t know that the critics who may say that of me, if they found themselves in this very unique and unprecedented situation that I am now in, would do any differently than I am doing. So I hope to make a positive impact. I don’t know what it means to be complicit, but you know, I hope time will prove that I have done a good job and much more importantly that my father’s administration is the success that I know it will be.”

[Via NY Mag]

So, there you go. From the horse’s mouth. “…Then I’m complicit.” Yes, we know. And I love Ivanka’s argument of “everybody would be doing what I’m doing!” No, girl. Many of us would have been out the door as soon as our father began sexually assaulting and harassing women right and left. Would it have been too much for Ivanka to look up the meaning of “complicit” before she sat down for this interview?

Here’s another clip where Gayle King asks Ivanka if she feels she should actually speak out about these issues she claims to care about so much. Ivanka actually says these words: “I would say not to conflate lack of public denouncement with silence.” So when she’s publicly silent, we shouldn’t say she’s publicly silent. Alternative facts much?

And finally, did you know that hundreds of LGBTQ activists have been doing protests outside of Ivanka’s rented DC home? It’s true. And this is how one of Ivanka’s neighbors reacted (yeah, all of Ivanka’s neighbors loathe her).

Chelsea Handler is promoting the second season of her Netflix talk show, so she’s giving lots and lots of interviews. As I was reading this entire You Magazine piece, I was reminded of something odd: I don’t always hate Chelsea Handler. Like, I think she says a lot of awful things. I think she’s racist and nativist and unfunny. But when she talks about reproductive rights or being anti-marriage, I often find myself not-hating her in spite of the other emotions she brings out in me. Anyway, of course Chelsea gets asked about Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie in this piece. OF COURSE. And of course she can’t just shrug and say “no comment.” What would be the point of that? Some highlights from You Magazine UK.

She claims that Jennifer Aniston doesn’t care: ‘I don’t think Jen cares about what’s going on and it’s crazy that people think she doe. As if she’s sitting around caring about [Angelina Jolie]. I know I don’t.’

All the sh-t she’s said about Angelina Jolie: As Chelsea explains now, with a smile on her face: ‘I just say what most people are thinking.’

She likes British men: ‘I’m interested in people who have opinions and aren’t afraid to express them. So if someone says: “I don’t want to talk about my husband or my kids” then forget it, because that’s your life. On my [E!] show, I interviewed a lot of reality stars and I’d always drift off, thinking about what I was going to eat later because they were so uninteresting. But I like Brits – I interviewed Tom Hiddleston and he was very sweet and very square.’

On Donald Trump’s politics and policies: ‘I’m going to be leading a lot of marches about this. As a first world country [the US] has an obligation to the rest of the world to be broader in our thinking. I want people from different countries to come over here. I don’t want a refugee camp in Lebanon or Beirut or anywhere in the world – that’s what creates terrorism. Trump is pretty much the worst kind of American there is – the worst capitalist, the worst everything. It scares me but it also makes me motivated because if Hillary Clinton had won the election, maybe we’d have become complacent and said: “OK, we’ve had our glass ceiling moment now – it’s all fine.” But with Trump’s election, people are more outraged than they’ve been in years. We have to make fun of him because he’s so easy to make fun of, but if you can be funny about something, it can resonate more with people than straight information.’

Whether men are scared of funny women: ‘Probably. I mean, men out here are not exactly approaching me all the time. That’s why I go to England – I love British men! My first serious boyfriend [Peter] was British and we were together for two years. British men are better dressed, have a better sense of humour and can drink at lunch and go back to work, which I respect.’

Her relationship with André Balazs: ‘That’s one I’m embarrassed about.’ Why? ‘Because he’s embarrassing. Let’s just leave it at that.’

Dating her boss at E!, Ted Harbert: ‘He just got me and understood the show and we stayed friends because he was kind of a seminal figure in my life.’ Although both insisted that they didn’t start dating until after Chelsea got the show, it didn’t stop Joan Rivers rather uncharitably suggesting that Chelsea ‘made it on her back’. ‘Well, a lot of people say that about me,’ says Chelsea, ‘and it only matters if you believe it’s true. Take a look at my pillow.’ Nestling on her sofa, it reads: ‘Sleep Your Way To The Top.’ ‘My response to that is if I was going to sleep with somebody to get a job, it would have been on a different network than E!.’

She doesn’t want kids: ‘I want to be around adults. I love my friends’ kids; I just don’t want to have my own and I don’t want anyone or anything – other than work – dictating what time I have to get out of bed. Work is my child and my closest relationship. I definitely don’t buy into the idea that you’re less of a woman if you don’t have kids. I actually think it’s brave not to have them and I think people should consider it more before having a child.’

[From You Magazine UK]

I chuckled at “if I was going to sleep with somebody to get a job, it would have been on a different network than E!” Like, did she have so many options? It’s no secret that she slept her way to her own E! show. She was almost completely unknown before Chelsea Lately and of course she slept her way to basic-cable fame. As for what she says about Aniston and Jolie… I still don’t get why this is Handler’s particular raison d’etre at this point, but there you go. I also don’t believe Aniston is focused on Brad and/or Angelina at this point, but the fact that Aniston’s friend, attack dog and surrogate is still talking about it? It’s not a great look for Handler or Aniston.

For a few weeks now, I’ve seen hype-pieces about Kendall Jenner’s new Pepsi commercial. People really wanted the commercial to be something special, like the 2017 version of Cindy Crawford’s iconic Pepsi ad. Well, Kendall’s commercial was released yesterday and… you guys, this is one of the tackiest, most ridiculous pieces of advertising I’ve ever seen. It offends me deeply, I’m not even joking. Here’s the commercial:

Pepsi was like, “Hey, you know how we’re in this incredibly tricky moment involving religious identity, civil rights, Black Lives Matter, women’s rights and inclusionary politics? F–k it, let’s make an ad that glosses over all of those issues with naked commercialism!” Some questions I have:

1. Why do I have the feeling that the pitch meeting for this commercial involved at least one bro saying, “bitches love protest marches”?
2. Why do I get the feeling that everyone involved with conceptualizing this ad is a white dude?
3. Why does Pepsi want to commercialize a sanitized, child-like idea of protest culture?
4. Why was Kendall Jenner cast as the heroic white girl who solves all of the problems in the world by handing a cop a Pepsi?
5. If a non-white person had approached a cop with a Pepsi, what are the chances that the cop would have used deadly force?
6. Why was the Muslim woman cast as “the photographer” and not the model?
7. Why was Kendall wearing a blonde wig and what’s the symbolism of Kendall snatching her own wig?
8. Why don’t the protesters’ signs actually have any meaningful or topical statements?
9. Why did the Muslim woman photographer actually MISS the money shot of Kendall handing the Pepsi to the cop? That was the image she should have been shooting, so Pepsi is making her look incompetent.

Kendall passes an officer a Pepsi can and police brutality is solved, lmao White Media never ceases to amaze me

Opening night of '42nd Street' - Arrivals

I’m always a little bit surprised that the Duchess of Cambridge doesn’t wear red more often, because it really suits her. I think she tends to favor blues, greens and greys because she believes those colors bring out her eyes, plus those colors coordinate with her sapphire engagement ring. But red is really flattering on her. These are photos of Kate at the opening of the musical revival 42nd Street, which is just starting in London’s West End. The opening night was a fundraiser for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), for which Kate serves as a royal patron.

For the evening out, Kate went solo – no William! – but she seemed fine with it. She wore a new frock by… Marchesa! Which is just so… bad/obvious. I mean, the dress itself is okay, but I just feel preconditioned to loathe everything from Marchesa, because the dresses usually look so cheap. While Marchesa is considered an American line, it was founded by a Brit: Georgina Chapman, wife of Harvey Weinstein. So Kate probably thought, “Eh, good enough.” This dress is from Marchesa’s Notte Resort 2017 line and the fabric is called “honeycomb.” It retails for $1,195, which seems about what I would expect for this kind of dress from Marchesa.

Some nice stuff: I always think Kate’s clothes are so poorly tailored and I always think Marchesa dresses are so poorly tailored, so it’s fascinating to me that this dress actually looks like it was properly tailored for Kate’s figure. Look, there are no weird bulges, no nonsensical sleeve puffs, no oddly draped tulle. Maybe Kate is actually the perfect Marchesa model. I also appreciate the skirt length here – this is a full-skirted tea-length and while the skirt seems a bit stiff, the effect is very “1950s Society Gal Goes To Broadway!” Which fits with the event. Such a theme-dresser, our Kate.
