Amy Adams is starring on HBO’s limited series Sharp Objects, which is airing now and getting good buzz. None of us have watched it yet but hopefully that will change for me this weekend. These are photos of Amy doing promotion duty in two different long print dresses. The black and red ruffled floral number is Michael Kors, and the white, black and red shirt dress is Gabriela Hearst. I like the crisp white dress more, probably due to the silhouette but the clean print with the graphic contrast is better too. The Michael Kors just looks too busy and it has little sequins on it which flash on camera and seem out of place.

On an appearance on Seth Meyers this week, Amy told a story I could definitely relate to. She said that had to apologize for accidentally calling and facetiming people at the top of her contacts list, namely Christina Applegate and Jennifer Aniston.

“Christina Applegate—she’s at the top of my call list,” Adams explained, “and I have fat cheeks. And I keep accidentally calling her when I smile during other phone calls. And then I don’t say anything and hang up, which is really rude.”

In fact, Adams estimated she’s accidentally butt dialed—or rather cheek dialed—Applegate 300 times within two months. She also admitted she hangs up before the Bad Moms actress answers.

“It’s not nice,” she said. “So, I apologize.”

As for Aniston, Adams said she accidentally FaceTimed the Friends star from her bed.

“I’m not sure it connected,” the Enchanted actress said. “So, who knows what happened there.”

However, Adams said she’s going to say hello the next time she mistakenly calls up one of her celebrity pals.

“I’m very very sorry,” she reiterated. “It’s very rude.”

[From E! Online]

Once I switched to an Android I stopped butt dialing people but this used to happen to me all the time. It’s a real flaw in the iPhone OS. I once sent a recorded voice message to my neighbor in which I said, and I swear this is true, “I feel like sh-t.” The message screen was open, I was sick and was explaining how bad it was, and I somehow recorded and sent it. I’ve called just about everybody, it just depended on where I was in the contact list from the last person. I usually ended up telling them sorry and that the call was an accident but only because I didn’t realize I had called until they answered. If I noticed prior to that I would hang up. I’m so glad I switched phones but I now live in fear of accidentally posting crap to Facebook or Instagram. There should be more safeguards in place to avoid regrettable social media posting, like the User Account Control prompt in Windows. “Do you want to allow the following program to livestream you now? This prompt will not disappear for 30 seconds because even if you meant to do this you should think about it.”

Here’s a clip of Amy’s interview. She also talks about her last three acting jobs on television, which were not successful for her.

This f-ckin’ mess. On July 20, the shocking news broke that James Gunn was fired by Disney, to be immediately removed from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which he was writing/directing. It’s an exhausting story that involves the alt-right and America’s ongoing culture war—here’s a good rundown from…

For the celebrity parent, there are many different paths you can take if you want to leverage your own name and fame into getting your child some kind of career. Catherine Zeta Douglas has chosen the Cindy Crawford route, I think. The Cindy Method is “organizing a magazine cover with yourself and your daughter, in the hopes of jumpstarting your daughter’s modeling career.” Carys Douglas is only 15 years old, and this is her first-ever magazine cover. I can already feel Catherine’s attempts to make Carys have either a modeling career or an acting career. This issue of Town & Country is the “Modern Swans” issue, meaning Carys is being promoted as “the daughter of Hollywood royalty and rising actress herself.” Yeah, I see you, Zeta. Some highlights from Town & Country:

Carys didn’t know her dad was famous: “I thought my dad was a pancake maker. I didn’t know he was an actor. Honestly.”

On adjusting to the paparazzi and defining who she is in the public eye: “I used to get really upset. They [paparazzi] would jump on the subway and sit right in front of me. I was like, six. I was confused. That’s when I knew, ‘If this is going to be what it’s like, I need to focus on who I really am, and this is going to be something that’s just going to happen, and I can’t do anything about it.”

On having to prove herself being a part of the Douglas Dynasty: “When I was younger I didn’t like the idea of having his name attached, this kind of ‘Douglas Dynasty’ stuff. I think what bothers me the most is that people think I don’t work hard for it, that I don’t need to work hard for it. That anything I do gets handed to me. When, honestly, I feel like it’s the opposite. I feel I need to constantly prove myself to people – that I am not just my parents’ daughter.”

On how she and mother bond over fashion: “Fashion has been so important in my life, because my mom is like a fashion icon to me. I’m always looking through her closet.”

What Catherine Zeta-Jones is most proud of in her children: “What I instilled in my kids, and I’m very, very proud of it, is manners. There’s nothing worse than a privileged kid without manners. I drilled it into them like boot camp. The teenage years…She [Carys] knows she cannot roll her eyes at me, or huff and puff around me. I never did it to my mother; and she’s not doing it to me.”

[From Town & Country]

You guys… I have no desire to criticize a 15 year old. It’s not her fault at all. She’s just a kid. But I’m really going to need all of the Nepotist Models and Nepotist Actors to stop with this bullsh-t. Carys is 15 years old, she doesn’t even have an IMDB page, she doesn’t even HAVE an acting career, and I guarantee that 99.9% of the population wouldn’t have been able to pick her out of a line-up before now, and she’s out here saying sh-t like “I think what bothers me the most is that people think I don’t work hard for it, that I don’t need to work hard for it” and “I feel I need to constantly prove myself to people – that I am not just my parents’ daughter.” Baby girl, you’re 15 and your mom is trying to get you a career by agreeing to this Town & Country cover shoot. Again, it’s not her fault – this is how ALL of the nepotists speak nowadays, from the Hadids to the Jenners to the Gerbers. They all give interviews about how hard they work and nothing was ever handed to them and if anything, THEY HAVE TO WORK HARDER. It’s like it comes in some kind of handbook for these second or third-generation celebrity kids.

Dear Gossips,

President Trump meets with President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker at the White House

This is just an Open Post for the day’s political stories. Honestly, this week has been rough and everybody’s tired, so just talk amongst yourselves. I’ll try to give you some topics.

Donald Trump has been going crazy on Twitter. And water is wet, I know. When isn’t Trump going crazy on Twitter? But in the past 24 hours, Trump has been going especially crazy. Notably crazy. Notably unhinged. This week is also the start of the Paul Manafort trial, which Trump is hoping to “distract” from, in his own lunatic way. Like this:

..This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further. Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 1, 2018

Trump wants to talk to Mueller. Sexual Dynamite Bob Mueller has been low-key trying to arrange an interview with Trump. Trump’s people are now saying Trump is ready to speak to Mueller so he (Bigly) can explain things. Hahahaha.

Paul Manafort’s trial. I mean, I find it pretty dry so far, and it’s just a reminder that oh right, these are all white collar crimes, mostly financial and bureaucratic. But still, that’s how most of these a–holes are going to go down: for their petty corporate larceny, for improper lobbying, for getting shady governments to pay for their $15K ostrich jackets.

And finally, please enjoy this completely natural photo of Don Jr. and his girlfriend. MY GOD. Kardashians don’t even edit their ‘grams this much.

The last we heard about Demi Lovato she was quite ill in hospital and no decisions had been made yet as to whether she would seek additional treatment following her release. She suffered an overdose last week and it’s been reported that things are very much up in the air regarding her medical condition and decisions. In fact sources told TMZ that they weren’t even sure “where her head is at.” So it seems premature for her to cover People magazine, but she is. Demi has spoken and posted to social media repeatedly about her sobriety, about her stay in rehab and about her own rock bottom before this relapse. However People’s source claims that she did not want to be a role model and that her sobriety “was a fight every single day.” They also report that Demi’s team controlled her and insinuate that she was lashing out against that.

The singer, 25, has proudly — and publicly — celebrated her sobriety milestones over the last six years, but a longtime friend tells PEOPLE exclusively Lovato struggled privately with the pressure to remain clean.

“Demi never wanted to be a role model. Her sobriety over the last six years was a fight every single day,” says the friend. “After she finally got clean, her team was very hard on her and treated her like she was a kid. It’s so hard to have all these eyes on you all the time.”

Over the last year, Lovato yearned for more freedom and “slowly started breaking away” from her tightly regulated life.

“She is so young and she also has a very rebellious personality,” says the source. “She wasn’t drinking or using at first, but she’s even said herself that she can’t be in a [party] environment. She thought she could handle it, but it’s a very slippery slope.”

Sources told PEOPLE on Monday she is expected to make a “full recovery,” but that decisions in terms of treatment had not yet been made.

“It’s too soon to say what the next steps are in terms of entering treatment,” a source close to Lovato told PEOPLE. “Right now everyone is focused on getting Demi physically healthy.”

[From People]

It feels like Demi’s team is behind this cover and that it could have waited until she was further along in her recovery. Give her a minute to get better and make her own decisions regarding her next steps, you know? While this may be her PR rep’s narrative and not coming from Demi herself, this whole situation just brings it home how insidious addiction can be. People has a follow-up story with more quotes about Demi, her career and her sobriety. I’ll include the new quotes as well as some telling excerpts from her documentary on YouTube, Simply Complicated, that People uses as well.

[When her career took off at 15] “She was very young, very fragile. The schedule was so intense,” a former member of the star’s inner circle tells PEOPLE exclusively about her rise to fame. “Demi never had a day off. She had to put in 16 hours on set, then go on tour, then record, then do press. She was exhausted.”

“One of the challenges was the balance of power in the family,” says a source who previously worked with Lovato. “When you’re supporting the family, you have all the power at 15.”

Lovato was already abusing substances in high school and was introduced to cocaine at age 17. “I felt out of control the first time I did it,” said Lovato, who had a dysfunctional relationship with her birth father Patrick (he died in 2013 from cancer). “My dad was an addict and an alcoholic. Guess I always searched for what he found in drugs and alcohol because it fulfilled him and he chose that over a family.”

“To save her life, you have to stop her career. Demi needs years of therapy,” says the former member of her circle. “She has enough money. She’s extremely talented. Right now her health and her life are at stake.”

[From People]

The latest from TMZ is that Demi is doing better and that she’s due to leave the hospital this week, thankfully, but that she hasn’t made a decision about rehab yet. Members of her team have allegedly threatened to quit if she doesn’t go into treatment. A source tells them “She could die if she doesn’t [go to rehab], and that’s not going to be on my watch that we did nothing.” It’s thought that she’s headed that way after several months of using and this wakeup call. I hope that she recovers soon, that she embraces sobriety again, and that it’s her decision to do that.

The York Princesses are speaking! Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice sat down for a joint interview with British Vogue, which is being called the first time they’ve ever sat down for a joint magazine interview? Is that true? Eugenie and Beatrice have given interviews before, but I guess they did it separately and maybe not to a magazine. You can see the first part of British Vogue’s exclusive here, including an absolutely gorgeous photo of the York women with their dogs. Eugenie is turning out to be a real beauty, isn’t she? Some highlights from the piece:

Beatrice on their public/private lives: “It’s hard to navigate situations like these because there is no precedent, there is no protocol. We are the first: we are young women trying to build careers and have personal lives, and we’re also princesses and doing all of this in the public eye.”

Eugenie’s not stresses about her wedding: “I’m not stressed at all. It’s very nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect but then you realise that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters.”

Eugenie on a plastic-free life & wedding: In addition to compiling Pinterest boards of cakes, her wedding planning has been consumed by her mission to make her life plastic-free. “It’s been eye-opening. My whole house is anti-plastic now – and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well.”

Eugenie joined Instagram this year: “Eugenie on how they want to be seen: “We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there. Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real.”

Eugenie on being criticized in the media: “There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.”

[From British Vogue and the Daily Mail]

They also confirmed that of course Beatrice was going to be Eugenie’s maid of honor at the wedding, and Beatrice talks a bit about her milestone birthday, turning 30. The sisters seem especially close, and almost like they’re finishing each other’s sentences and thoughts, more like twins. As for the rest of it… I believe that the York princesses are navigating their weird situation as best they can. They are “blood princesses,” granddaughters of the monarch, but also: they’re not “full time royals.” Prince Charles doesn’t want Eugenie and Beatrice to have all of the perks and responsibilities of full-time royals, so that’s why they’re half-princess, half-regular.

Miranda Lambert is known for getting with married men. She’s like a cardboard cutout of a “homewrecking” character in a bad screenplay. It seems like Miranda only gets hot for guys that are “taken,” either married men or men with girlfriends. Then she gets bored once they’re with her. So Miranda has to create some drama for herself. Currently, Miranda is with Evan Felker, a guy who was married when she met him. He left his wife within the span of a week after meeting Miranda, and he and Miranda have been together ever since. Evan’s estranged wife is named Staci Felker, and she hasn’t been hiding. She’s gotten a lot of sympathy, and she’s on social media too. Which is how this happened:

Hotline bling! Staci Felker seemingly called out estranged husband Evan Felker’s girlfriend, Miranda Lambert, for allegedly trying to contact her multiple times.

“FYI, if you’re crazy and crazy famous, this is how your number comes up. Wife’s number doesn’t change,” Staci captioned an Instagram Story photo of her call log on Tuesday, July 31, featuring many missed calls from an unknown caller as well as another number from Caldwell, Idaho, that she crossed out. “Seems problematic. 10 times in one night #insecure #rightfullyso.”

In a follow-up post, Staci clarified the callers’ identities. “The Idaho number is my husband,” she affirmed. “The other … is the person who is tired of him calling home.”

Although she implies that Lambert was the unknown number, a source tells Us Weekly there is absolutely no truth that the Grammy winner called or attempted to make contact with Staci.

[From Us Weekly]

I mean… of course it’s Miranda. The fact that a source even tried to deny it to Us Weekly proves that Miranda is keeping tabs on her boyfriend’s estranged wife. And Miranda really must be THAT insecure, right? Evan Felker can’t even call to check in with the wife he dumped and ghosted for months without Miranda freaking the f–k out. Also: I love that Staci Felker is stirring some sh-t. Good for you, girl.

They say you can’t run from your problems, but I’ve had a lot of fun trying! #travelobsessed #runawaystace is back ??

This story is gloriously dumb, but it’s what we deserve this week. It seems that Prince Harry is retiring his bachlor “sports car” now that he has a lovely wife. Harry isn’t wasteful though – he’s not going to be one of those men with a garage full of cars (like William). No, Harry is selling his royal p-ssywagon (emphasis on WAGON), an Audi RS6 Avant. He apparently listed it on Auto Trader!!

Trading in your luxurious sports car for a family-friendly people carrier is a tell-tale sign you’re about to start a family. And it seems Prince Harry could be about to embark on this momentous milestone after the 33-year-old’s sports car has been listed on Auto Trader. The Duke of Sussex has owned the Audi RS6 Avant for over 12 months and was spotted behind the wheel while driving to Pippa Middleton’s wedding reception last year.

And while the vehicle is a five-seater, it’s certainly not as spacious as Prince William and Kate’s family-friendly Land Rover, which seats seven. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also had to transition to a bigger vehicle when they started their family. Before Prince George was born, Prince William was often seen driving a sporty Audi.

Advertised as “Prince Harry’s old car”, the sporty vehicle is currently listed on Auto Trader by car dealership Overton Prestige and is expected to sell for a whopping £71,900. The luxurious vehicle features a range of royal-worthy extras including a panoramic sunroof, heated front and rear seats, as well as a top speed restriction increase of 174mph.

“This is a smashing car perfectly suited to any aspiring royal,” said Auto Trader’s editorial director, Erin Baker. “The Audi RS6 Avant is one of the fastest estate cars on the market doing 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds, and it has a roaring exhaust to excite any petrol head. The car boasts a 17 reg and low mileage, so it begs the questions why is the Prince selling so soon? Maybe he’s on the market for a bigger family car.”

[From The Sun]

So, that’s the headline – Harry Selling His Sports Car To Prepare For Fatherhood. Except once I had a good look at this Audi… it already looks like a family car? That’s the reason I put sarcasm-quotes around “sports car.” This is a sleek four-door station wagon. It would be perfect for a couple with just one baby. But continue talking about all the changes Harry is making to prepare for Polo Baby.

Premiere Spy Who Dumped Me

Madonna covers the latest issue of Vogue Italia, with a Mert & Marcus cover shoot that took place in her new home in Lisbon, Portugal. I’ve side-eyed the whole “celebrities moving to Lisbon” movement, but honestly… Lisbon is beautiful. And as it turns out, Madge had a good reason for moving her family there. She wanted David Banda to go to an amazing soccer school, and she carefully weighed all of her options and decided on the school in Lisbon. So there you go. Here are some highlights from Madonna’s Vogue Italia cover story:

Why she left America: “My son David, who is going to be 13 on September 24, has wanted to play soccer professionally for years. I’ve been desperate to get him into the best academies with the best coaches, but the level of football in America is much lower than the rest of the world. I saw his frustration, and I also felt it was a good time. I felt like we needed a change, and I wanted to get out of America for a minute – as you know, this is not America’s finest hour.”

Why Lisbon: “It was actually between three different cities that had soccer academies. And I thought, let me see if I could live somewhere else for a year and put my four youngest kids in a different environment, as I think it’s also important to expose them to different cultures and living in different places. So, it was between Turin, Barcelona, and Benfica in Lisbon. I went to all those places and tried to imagine myself living there. Of course, Barcelona is a super fun city, and I like Turin as well, but Turin is not really a city for children. It’s a city for intellectuals; they have incredible museums and beautiful homes, but I didn’t think it would be fun for them. I have to take everyone into account, not just whether it will be a good academy for David. So I went to Lisbon, and it seemed the best all-around choice.”

Why Portugal is great: “It’s steeped in history, and the Portuguese empire has made its dent on the world. The architecture is amazing. It’s also the birthplace of slavery, and so there are musical influences which come from Angola and Cape Verde, and also from Spain. And then on top of all of that, one of my favourite things to do in the whole world is to ride horses. I live in Lisbon, in Lapa, but when I go horse-riding I go to Comporta, I go to friend’s houses, I go to Alcácer. There are lots different areas outside of Lisbon to ride. Whenever my son doesn’t have a soccer match on Sunday, then that becomes an adventure day, and we would pick a place to go riding.”

The Portuguese influence on her new album: “I always say three f’s rule Portugal: fado, football and Fatima. It’s also a very Catholic country, which suits me just fine.”

Life as a soccer mom: “Any woman who is a soccer mom could say it kind of requires you to have no life in a way, because things change from week to week and games change from weekend to weekend – sometimes they’re in the city, sometimes they’re not, and we would never know until Thursday night whether they’re on Saturday or Sunday, if at twelve o’clock or later. It’s impossible to make plans, and then you feel like you’re not being fair to your other kids, or being fair to me!”

Her kids are adapting: “What’s amazing is how resilient they are and how they embraced all things, especially music, dance, soccer and sports – things that connect them to other people makes adaptation easier. They learned to speak Portuguese through doing all those things with people, not by sitting in a classroom and learning in a didactic way, like writing on a chalkboard. Instead, it’s fun, it’s interactive. Especially with Stella and Esther, who were in an orphanage for four years; they’re so happy to join in, to help out, to be part of something whether it’s a small or a large group, to be the leaders. They’re extremely resilient and full of life and joy.

[From The Daily Mail]

She goes on to say that her goal was never to raise the next Ronaldo or Picasso or whatever, that she just wants her kids to be good people. Honestly, as she talked about her kids, she gave me serious Jolie vibes. Which I don’t hate. While her face is crazy (super-crazy, right?), I get an odd feeling from Madonna, almost like… she’s settled down a bit, in a way she’s never really “settled down” before. She’s still got four little ones at home: David, Mercy, Esther and Stella. They take up a lot of her time. As for the rest of it… it sounds like she has a really lovely life in Lisbon now. Bless.
