Yesterday, we discussed the offensive, misguided, ridiculous and stupid Pepsi commercial starring the one and only Kendall Jenner. The whole concept of the ad was pretty stupid: Kendall plays a ditzy model who sees protesters marching past her modeling shoot, she decides to take off her wig and saunter around the protesters and then she hands a Pepsi to a cop. Here’s the ad once again:

Obviously, people were like “this is some white nonsense.” For about 24 hours, Pepsi stuck with their decision and stood by the commercial, claiming that: “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.” Turns out, not so much. Pepsi pulled the ad off YouTube after a day and issued an apology:

Pepsi has pulled an ad featuring Kendall Jenner a day after it debuted. The ad, which depicted the model joining a march and handing a can of Pepsi to a police officer, incited the wrath of the Twitterverse, with critics calling it tone-deaf and disrespectful to movements like #BlackLivesMatter. The beverage maker issued this statement on Tuesday morning, apologizing for the ad, which has been pulled from YouTube.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace, and understanding. Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”

[From Variety]

Yeah, they missed the mark. Big time. What I don’t understand is the hunker-down mentality of the first 24 hours after the commercial debuted. Did Pepsi’s advertising team sit around, reading Twitter and the overwhelmingly awful reviews of the commercial and think, “Eh, whatever”?

Meanwhile, People Magazine had a story in which Kendall Jenner was making this all about Kendall. A source told People that: “Kendall would have been absolutely mortified. Anything offensive is just not her. She means well, always. She would have called Kris SO upset and freaking out. And then Kris would go into mom mode and approach it like, ‘Let’s do something about this, NOW.’” So I guess Lucifer’s Homegirl called up Pepsi and was like “YOU NEED TO APOLOGIZE TO KENDALL!” And so that’s what Pepsi did? Ugh.

The Duke & Duchess Of Cambridge Visit The Royal International Air Tattoo

We’re still talking about Prince William and Duchess Kate’s choice to send Prince George to a less conservative primary school. Many thought they would send George to Wetherby, which is where William and Harry were educated in London. Instead, George will be heading to Thomas’s School in Battersea, at a cost of about $8000 per semester, which apparently is $24,000 a year (for three semesters a year). For primary school! That’s crazy to me, although as compared to other private schools for the rich and famous, it’s probably a relative bargain. Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl says that Kate was “apparently keen” for George to attend a coed school, so that Charlotte would be able to join him in a few years. Nicholl says that Kate intends to join the other “yummy mummies” at the drop-offs and pick-ups as often as she can too. But why Thomas’s School specifically? The Daily Mail’s Girl About Town knows:

The Duchess of Cambridge has opted to send Prince George to a school four miles from Kensington Palace to keep him away from the spoiled offspring of oligarchs and rock stars, I’m told. George is due to attend Thomas’s in Battersea, even though the school has a branch just half a mile from the Palace. But many say that life for a pupil at Battersea is much more ‘hippy-dippy’, which is why Kate has decided to send her son there.

One ex-pupil remembers being given a merit for reciting a line from Monty Python – in Latin – aged ten. And another recounts a much-loved teacher napping in his car at lunch.

Staff dish out kooky golden unicorn stickers instead of the usual gold stars, to reward pupils for tying their shoelaces. The mythical creatures will already be familiar to George – they adorn the gates of KP.

[From The Daily Mail]

I wonder if this was a fight between Kate and William? Because that seems like a statement against the way William was raised, in which he was surrounded by the children of the incredibly rich, the aristocrats, and the leaders of the nation. It’s like Kate is saying to William: I don’t want George to turn out as stuffy and posh as you. Then again, I wonder if William even cares or thought about it too hard. Anyway, as I said, I don’t really have an issue with George attending a school full of kids who come from less privileged backgrounds… although let’s be real, the kids at this school are still really privileged. But they’re privileged in the same way the Middletons are privileged – upper middle class privileged. The children of millionaires, not billionaires.

'The Lost City of Z' Premiere - Arrivals

Brad Pitt left his artist’s studio last night to attend the LA premiere of The Lost City of Z, a film which he produced and was once going to star in. Cast members Charlie Hunnam, Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller were also in attendance at the premiere. I don’t have a ton of stuff to say about these photos, but let’s power through it.

Brad Pitt is skinny. We already knew that, but damn, bruh. His weight loss is so noticeable because his face has really slimmed out and de-bloated. He’s now in the phase of his weight loss where his clothes look crazy-baggy on him.

Sienna Miller is wearing a nightie. This is Chloe, from the Spring 2017 line. It very much looks like an old-fashioned nightie from the ‘60s.

Robert Pattinson doesn’t look like an awkward Dior model. I’m glad Dior didn’t try to make him look like an extra on Sprockets. Still, dude needs some help with his hair.

Charlie Hunnam looks delicious. I’m sort of over him, but I can still look! He’s very pretty.

2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards

Sometimes we forget, well, at least I do, that celebrities can have the same insecurities as you and me. And it’s really hard for me to picture Katy Perry as someone who has ever had an insecure moment in her life, but she’s gone and proven me wrong.

The 32-year-old singer posted quite the throwback pic on Instagram on April Fool’s Day, clad in a sports bra and gym shorts, makeup-free and rocking some crazy, disheveled hair. She captioned the pre-2K snap, “I’m proud to announce the cover for my 4th album!” adding, “Happy April Fools! Been plotting in the same type of sports bra from my IM and laminated calendar since 99? It’s all about the long game…”

Then, on Tuesday, she shared an inside look at the less-than-glamorous side of pop superstardom by posting a series of photos of herself enduring a (slightly painful looking) facial massage while Facetiming with one of her record label managers. Katy helpfully (?) captioned this one, “WHEN UR ROLLIN CALLS WITH UR A&R BUT TRYING TO MASSAGE THE STRESS OUT YA JAW AT THE SAME TIME CAUSE EVERYTHING IS COMING TO A HEAD?(scroll right for full trauma).” Hey, Katy, you’re getting a massage, there’s no need to shout.

I’m not sure if Katy regretted sharing the pics (and didn’t know how to take them down?) or what, but she quickly posted another picture to Instagram showing her sultry side, wearing a denim bra and Daisy Dukes. The pic was a screenshot from her phone and you can clearly see that she did a Google image search for “katy perry hot” and shared the result, adding the caption, “was feeling insecure about my last two posts so.”

I can totally identify with this, and I’m sure a lot of you can too, even if you don’t want to admit it. Come on, we all have that one Facebook profile picture we put up there to get “likes” when we are having a low self-esteem day…or is that just me? (Cool story, Corey: my current go-to headshots were taken by the actor who plays Alvaro on The Walking Dead.) Of course, I can only aspire to look like Katy on a bad day, but that’s another story. What I can’t identify with is how she doesn’t lose her mind when her phone is at 13% battery life. I had a mini panic attack when I saw that.

I feel like I need to qualify all my posts on Friends cast members with “you all know I am a Friends sycophant, right?” Being a… what – Friend-loonie? Friendophile? – I still root for them both professionally and personally to varying degrees. So this story bummed me out when I read it yesterday. David Schwimmer and his wife of six plus years, Zoe Buchman, who are parents to six-year-old Chloe, are taking some time apart.

David Schwimmer and his wife, Zoe Buckman, are taking some time apart after nearly seven years of marriage, the couple exclusively confirm to Us Weekly.

“It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship,” the pair tell Us in a statement. “Our priority is, of course, our daughter’s happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family.”

The Friends alum, 50, and British photographer Buckman, 31, have been together for more than 10 years. They met when Schwimmer was directing the 2007 romantic comedy Run in London. She relocated to Los Angeles to be with the actor and the pair tied the knot in June 2010. It is the first marriage for both.

[From US]

I don’t have any issue with age gaps regardless of which partner is older if everyone is legal. But I do recognize that a large gap can sometimes factor into two people drifting away from each other. David and Zoe have kept their relationship fairly low-key so I doubt they will go to the press about what’s going on beyond this statement. I’m bummed because I thought David returned to the mainstream mellower and less arrogant thanks in some part to Zoe. I want to believe taking time apart to think about the direction of their relationship is hopeful but let’s be honest, this is Hollywood speak for, “once the settlement is ironed out, we’ll flip a coin for who files first.” I will, however, take the tone of the statement as evidence that they will not wage war publicly and will co-parent Chloe amicably because, well, Friends.

In much more positive news, David has partnered with his good friend, filmmaker Sigal Alvin, to launch a new campaign to combat sexual harassment. David and Sigal have filmed six short videos, all of which are based on real incidents, that depict the “grey area” of sexual harassment. Sigal had already launched a four-video series in Israel but reached out to David to bring something similar to American audiences. They enlisted several familiar names like Bobby Cannavale, Mamie Gummer, Cynthia Nixon and Emily Rossum. Each video “features a subtle moment in which the interaction changes, when each man… oversteps his boundaries in a way that completely demoralizes the woman he’s talking to.” The campaign is called #ThatsHarrassment and you can watch all six videos here. Trigger warning though. My stomach has been clinched since watching them.

Chrissy Teigen Looks Sexy At The Spa

Who says being a model isn’t, at times, a perilous job? I mean, you’ve got to maintain your balance while strutting down a narrow runway wearing insanely high heels, you’ve got to endure hours just sitting in a makeup chair and, most importantly, you’ve got to work hard to keep that model body. Now, apparently, stunt work can be added to the model’s job description, if we believe Chrissy Teigen.

The 31-year-old model/social media regular shared a photo to Twitter on Tuesday of a sizeable bruise on her thigh, with the caption, “I now do stunts #lipsyncbattlescar #iflew!” (She also showed off her gorgeous diamond ring, courtesy of hubby John Legend.) All I can say is ouch. I bruise like a peach, and this looks painful.

From the tweet, we can only assume the injury occurred while Chrissy was filming episodes for the third season of the wildly (and somewhat surprisingly) popular Lip Sync Battle. Deadline recently reported that the show has been picked up for a fourth season by Spike TV, which will be renamed the Paramount Network come 2018. Chrissy announced the renewal with a (somewhat disturbing) clip on Monday in which she donned a Spiderman costume. (I tagged her as more of a Deadpool type, but maybe that’s just me.) She tweeted, “Thank you @SpikeLSB for making all my dreams come true last night. See you in SEASON 4!”

Chrissy, even while banged up, still keeps busy posting on social media. On Tuesday, she shared her latest commercial for Vita Coco coconut water. It’s a cute ad, I guess, but am I the only one who thinks coconut water is just nasty? (Maybe add some rum and pineapple juice and I may change my tune on that.)

It’s hard work but somebody’s gotta do it. #plantmanager #thegrind @vitacoco

Of course, lounging on the beach, getting banged up in the name of frivolous entertainment and living her superhero dreams aren’t all Chrissy is doing. The self-confessed foodie and cookbook author added “cake decorator” to her list of accomplishments, posting a photo from a cake decorating class, learning some tricks for her daughter Luna’s upcoming first birthday. We always had Carvel ice cream cakes for our birthdays, so I have to admit that I’m impressed, and Luna is one lucky birthday girl. I want the recipe for this cake too.

thank you @duffscakemix for teaching me to decorate a cake for Luna’s upcoming bday! I’ll be back to do the real one soon! Get the sprinkles ready ???
